Wanda J. Barrett, of Topeka, passed away from this life to her eternal life November 28, 2024 surrounded by her family at KU-St. Francis Campus, Topeka. She was 74.

Wanda was born October 2, 1950, at Seneca, Kansas, one of seven children born to Joseph Alfred and Vauncille Margaret Brunner “Pooch” Barrett and has lived in the northeast Kansas area nearly all of her life. The family moved to the Kickapoo Reservation near Powhattan where she attended Powhattan schools, graduating with the class of 1968. As a junior and senior in high school, she worked at the Midway Café in Sabetha. She decided on a career in teaching and poured her heart and soul into working with children. Wanda started college at Highland Junior College and received an associate degree, Washburn University in Topeka received a bachelor’s degree, and master’s degree from Emporia State University. All the time going to school she was working including a few years at Josten’s in Topeka. Her teaching career included many years at KNI until its closing. Wanda finally retired as a history teacher for USD #609/Greenbush, Southeast Kansas Education Service Center.

She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church at Powhattan. Wanda made her home in Topeka where she was a foster parent for many years. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Topeka. She received a kidney transplant 7 years ago and since that time, she was a dedicated financial donor to St. Luke’s Kidney/Liver Transplant program.

Wanda was a single Mom, working all while raising her family of three sons, and a daughter: Donald Barrett of Parsons, Jason Barrett of Topeka, Christina McClintock (Casey) of Topeka, James Barrett, also of Topeka; her siblings Lewis Barrett (Rose) of Mayetta, Douglas Barrett of Fairview, Vikki Broxterman of Fairview, Diane Davis (Greg) of Hiawatha. The apples of her eye were her 6 grandchildren, with 3 great-grandchildren and one on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Dennis Barrett, David Barrett, and brother in law Lyle Broxterman.

Celebration of Wanda’s Eternal Life is planned for 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Fairview with Rev. Brian Holle officiating. Interment will follow at the Isely Cemetery, north of Fairview.

Friends may call at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha after 10 a.m. Tuesday where the family will gather to meet friends that afternoon from 5-7 p.m.

Rebecca Lynn "Becky" Willeford was born on November 5, 1955 in Kansas City, Missouri. She was one of two children of Alton Leo and Betty Joline (Sigler) Willeford.

Becky loved the outdoors, camping, traveling, hiking, wildlife, birds, and cats and dogs. She adored children, especially babies.

Becky was a flag-waving Democrat, hated injustice and always supported the underdog. She loved her family, friends, people of all walks of life, a good margarita, and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Becky passed away on November 29, 2024 at a Rock Port, Missouri care center. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a daughter, Summer Willeford.

Survivors include her children, Carina, Luke, and Isaiah Willeford, all of Kansas City; brother and sister-in-law, Christopher and Kristy Willeford and their son Brittain, Lee's Summit, Missouri;&nbsp;and four grandchildren, Anniyah, Marlee, Draylen and Dakari.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Lorna L. (Dreher) Margeta was born on January 7, 1955 in Oregon, Missouri, the daughter of Donald and Helen (Sommer) Dreher.

Lorna attended Oregon High School and graduated in 1973. She then attended the University of Toledo in Ohio. Lorna worked for Owens-Corning Manufacturing for many years in several of their locations.

She passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024 at North Care Hospice House due to complications of an aneurysm.

Preceding her in death were her parents; nephew, Rodney Meyer; niece, Rhonda Meyer; and great nieces Morgan and Lily.

Survivors include her sisters, Mona Kurtz, Carolyn Meyer, and Kay Senerius; nieces and nephews, Kelly (Kathy) Meyer, Kerry (Rick) Strating, and Brittany (Jeff) Mosher; several great nieces and nephews; many cousins and numerous friends.

Eugene “Buzzy” Dale Travis, a beloved brother, uncle, and friend, was born on November 21, 1977, to Jessie A. and Roberta J. (Brock) Travis in Fairfax, Missouri. Gene grew up in Craig, Missouri, where he attended Craig R III Public Schools, earning his certified welding degree before graduating with the class of 1995. Known for his dedication and determination and love for his family and friends.

Gene moved to the Harlan, IA area late in his 20’s to work and live closer to his brothers Marvin and Danny. He was employed as a shop mechanic at Panama Transfer for nearly 20 years, where his work ethic and attention to detail made him a trusted member of the team. Gene found his greatest joy in simple, meaningful moments spent with his family.

His love for the outdoors was evident from his farmer’s tan and his dislike of air conditioning. Gene enjoyed raising and tending to his chickens, relaxing at Big Lake, spending quality time and helping his brothers with projects. Though Gene’s personalized license plate and name tag on his work uniform said “Mean,” his personality and soft heart didn’t match the title. His willingness to lend a hand made him a cherished companion to all who knew him.

Gene passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at Azria Rose Vista Nursing Home, at the age of 47, following a courageous battle with recurrent cancer. He was surrounded by love and compassion in his final days under the tender care of Hillcrest Hospice.

Gene’s family was at the center of his heart. He shared an especially close bond with his brothers and treasured his nieces and nephews. His legacy of love, laughter, and hard work will be carried on by his three brothers: Danny (Prudy Kloewer) Travis of Harlan; Dennis (Connie) Travis of Tarkio, Missouri and Marvin (Leanne) Travis of Harlan; his nieces and nephews, Justin Travis (Kelci Judas), Josh (Julie) Travis, Danielle Travis (Austin Ede), Tabitha (Johnny) Eaton, Samantha (Zach) Jenkins, Courtney (Nathan) Hensley, Brock (Rachel) Travis, and Kyle (Sophia) Travis; nine great-nephews and three great-nieces; dedicated and loving girlfriend Sara Jensen, and numerous friends and co-workers who will forever remember him with affection.

Glen was a lifelong resident of Platte City Missouri. He attended and graduated high school from West Platte in 1983. He was a sports fan and enjoyed playing and watching baseball and was an avid fan of Football. Glen was a farmer and farmed the family land until his passing.

He is survived by his mother and a brother, Dwight Naylor of Weston, Missouri.

John Anthony Barton 2024 - 2024

Marjorie Kirtley, 81, of Union Star, MO passed away on November 27, 2024 after a short battle with Pancreatic Cancer.

She was born on February 16, 1943 to Roy and Ida (Webster) Parsons in Spencer, Iowa. Marjorie grew up near Gillett Grove, Iowa where she graduated from high school.

On June 9, 1963 she was united in marriage to Samuel Kirtley. After their marriage they lived on the family farm where they made their home.

Marjorie was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of King City.

Marjorie cleaned homes for several years in the Union Star area. She loved farming, gardening, canning and cooking.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Frank Parsons; daughter Cindy Beasterfeld and her son, Terry Kirtley.

Marjorie is survived by her husband, Sam; children, Rana (Mark) Thygerson, Susann Buie, Dennis (Nancy) Kirtley, and Michele Kirtley; daughter-in-law, Lisa Kirtley; son-in-law, Dale Beasterfeld; twenty-seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Wilson; sister-in-law, Norma Jean Parsons, brothers-in-law, Jim Kirtley and Bob Kirtley; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

The family will host a Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 8th at First Baptist Church in King City with visitation one hour prior. Private Family Inurnment will be held at a later date at Union Star Cemetery.

Marjorie Kirtley 1943 - 2024

Juanita Adele (Cross) Juhl, 104, of Wathena, Kansas passed away Thursday, November 28, 2024, at the Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Juanita was born on April 8, 1920, in Blair, Kansas to Lloyd Sr. and Velma (Eader) Cross.

She graduated from Troy High School in 1938. Juanita was a member of the United Methodist Church, Happy Valley Homemakers, and was a 4-H Leader and served on the election board. She worked as a telephone operator and was a farmer’s wife for most of her life. &nbsp;Juanita was an avid Chiefs fan and was talking with family about the upcoming game.

Juanita married Kenneth H. Juhl on November 17, 1943. He preceded her in death on July 7, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Lloyd Jr. and Harold Dwayne Cross.

Survivors; Son, Dennis Juhl (Cindy), Wathena, Kansas.

Granddaughter, DeAira Puentes Soto (Manuel), great-grandchildren, Oona, Lulu and Mateo, Collinsville, Oklahoma.

Joseph Benedict Paolucci, 81, of Atchison, Kansas, passed away on December 1, 2024. Born on March 2, 1943, to Nicholas Paolucci and Minnie LaPenta Paolucci, Joe was a lifelong Atchison resident with deep community roots.

Mass of Christian burial will be on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. Benedict Church. The rosary will begin at 9:45 AM, with visitation to begin at 10:00 AM at the church. Joe will be laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Benedict Catholic School Endowment (SBCS Endowment) or the Atchison Humane Society in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.

Joe attended Bellevue and St. Benedict’s grade schools as well as Maur Hill Prep.

Joe married his high school sweetheart, Carole Healey, and they have been blessed with sixty-three years of marriage.

Joe’s primary employer was General Motors, where he worked for 37 years. Upon his retirement, Joe worked as a custodian for St. Benedict’s Catholic School.

As a member of Saint Benedict Parish, Joe participated in the support of the perpetual adoration chapel for many years.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, children: Joe (Cathy) Paolucci of Atchison, Tracey (Mike) Turpin of Lawson, MO, Kelly (Tony) Mendoza of Atchison; a brother, Dominic Paolucci (Marlyn) of Denver CO; and sister in-law, Patricia Paolucci of Phoenix AZ. Joe and Carole are blessed with 8 grandkids and 13 great grandkids.

Joe was proceeded in death by his parents and a brother Anthony (Tony) Paolucci; his two half-sisters: Rose (Paolucci) Ryan and Theresa (Paolucci) Beagle; Uncles Johnny Paolucci &amp; Felix Paolucci; and Aunt Mary (Paolucci) Begley.

Joe’s greatest reward in life was his family and friends. He treasured family get togethers where he loved to prepare family recipes passed down to him.

Joseph Paolucci, Sr. 1943 - 2024

Ronald Lee Shaffer, 71, of Atchison, KS, passed away peacefully at his home, Saturday, November 30th, 2024.

Ron was born on March 12, 1953 in Horton, KS, the son of Robert Lee and Reba Mae (Braden) Shaffer. He was raised in Horton, KS until the age of eleven, then his family moved to Mercier, KS, a few miles northwest of Horton. He graduated from Horton High School in 1971.

He worked at Wilde Tool in Hiawatha as a young man after high school and would soon be employed by Midwest Solvents in Atchison, were he worked for 49 years until his recent retirement. He was known to be a very hard worker and friendly to all who came in contact with him. He enjoyed working and at 71, only retired due to health reasons.

On August 24, 1974, he married the love of his life Miss Gerriann Baker of Whiting, KS at the Whiting Methodist Church. Together, they enjoyed 50 years of loving marriage. From this union, they had two children, Jason Lee Shaffer of rural Atchison, and Kristy (Shaffer) Burg, of rural Lancaster.

Ron not only enjoyed working at his job, but at home as well taking great care of his house and property. He enjoyed woodworking, stone and masonry work, welding, yard work, working with metal and auto/boat repair. He was very mechanical and could fix just about anything.

He loved fishing, stargazing with a great knowledge of the solar system, and going on long walks with his wife. He took great pride in showing not only his children and grandchildren how to make things, but any child that wanted to learn. He helped numerous family members throughout his life repairing and refurbishing whatever someone needed help with. He took great care of his aging parents and his wife’s parents doing any and all things asked and never accepting monetary offerings. He enjoyed helping people.

Ron is survived by his wife, Gerriann. Additional survivors include his two children, Jason (Brooke) Shaffer, and Kristy (Joe) Burg. His grandchildren, Joseph Vincent, Josie, Robert and Lucas Burg, step-granddaughter Alexis (Kevan) Birkinsha, and step great-grandchildren, Lincoln &amp; Adeline Birkinsha. He is survived by his sibling, Denise (Delbert) Pottorff, Jodi (Mike) Butner, Steve (Debbie) Shaffer, Kim (Mike Baugh) Lieneman, Brad (Cindy) Shaffer, and Jamie Shaffer. He is survived by his mother-in-law, Edna Baker, in-laws Marilyn (Steve) Banaka, Debbie (Rod) Deffenbaugh, Rick (Kathy) Baker, Mike (Paula) Baker, and Kathy (Guy) Galley, numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Gerald Baker.

Ralph was born July 25, 1943, in Willow Springs, MO, the son of Charles Ray and Hazel Elizabeth (Imane) Bowen. He attended Atchison High School. Ralph worked for Atchison Castings as a crane operator. He was member of the United Steel Workers and enjoyed fishing, collecting and painting cars and motorcycles. Ralph was of the Baptist faith.

Ralph married Margaret Louise Bryant on November 11, 1962, Dakota Springs, NE, she survives of the home. He is also survived by two sons, Dewayne and Jackie Bowen, Effingham, KS, Jeffrey Bowen, Atchison, KS, two daughters, Betty and Russell Gaddis, Atchison, KS, Judy and Donald Gaddis, Atchison, KS, two brothers Lynn Bowen, Atchison, KS, Dennis Bowen, St. Joseph, MO, two sisters, Joyce Overton, Elden, MO, Linda Harris , Savannah, MO, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Penny Duning of fifty-eight years, his brother, three daughters and their families. John served in the United States Navy from 1966-1992 ending his career as a Master Chief. He will be forever loved and missed.

Christy Kay Cook, 70, of Savannah, MO passed away Thursday, November 28, 2024 at Abundant Acres near Savannah. She was born December 22, 1953 to William &amp; Dorothy (Reece) Nicholas. &nbsp;

Christy had a successful career as a nurse, working with the elderly the majority of her career. In her off time, Christy enjoyed counter cross stitching and selling Avon. Christy had an avid social life and will be missed for her contribution to a table of good friends.

Survivors include her son, Taylor (Carissa) Mitchell of St. Joseph; brother, Bill (Linda) Nicholas of Savannah; grandchildren, William Mitchell, Luke Mitchell, and Reece Mitchell; aunt Joyce (Bob) Roberts; two nieces (Kim &amp; Stacey); and many cousins. &nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents and nephew, Paul Nicholas.&nbsp;

Robert L. Williams Jr. "The Miller Man" 75, of St Joseph, Missouri, passed away from this world on Friday, November 29, 2024 at Mosaic Life Care. He was born August 4, 1949 in St. Joseph to Edna Marie (Fletchall) and Robert L. Williams Sr. 

He served in the United States Army, and is a Veteran of the Vietnam War. Bob worked at Midland Bottling Co. and St. Joe Beverage for 40 years. He took great pride in serving his customers and working with fellow employees. Bob liked to fish, camp, and drink beer (Miller and Coors). He liked to watch Nascar racing and the Kansas City Chiefs, and going to dirt track races. Bob was a member of the VFW Post 6760, holding the title of Quarter Master. He enjoyed his role and was admired by fellow members.&nbsp;

Bob was preceded in death by father, Robert L. Williams, Sr., mother, Edna Drollett, sister, Barbara Lynn Williams, 2 step-brothers, Wayne and Robert O. Williams, mother-in-law, Helen Riley, sisters-in-law, Janet Petty and Lauren Schmidt, and several aunts and an uncle. 

Survivors include: wife of 42 years, Debra Williams of the home, his son, Jake Williams, step-children, Carrie, Stacy, and Brad, estranged children, Kim, Lee, Jerri, Tammy, and Jimmy, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and several cousins. 

Bob will be missed by all who knew him.&nbsp;Funeral services with Military Honors will be 10:00 am, Friday, December 6, 2024 at the Rupp Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Williams will be cremated following services.

Terry Michael Ashworth, 74, of St. Joseph, passed away December 2, 2024. Terry was born October 24, 1950 in St. Joseph to Wayne and Frances (Smith) Ashworth.

Terry was a 1968 graduate of Central High School and attended San Diego State University. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for four years and then joined the United States Navy; retiring after 16 years of service.

Survivors include his son Wayne Ashworth; brothers Timothy Ashworth (Betty), Tony Ashworth, Rick Ashworth (Dee); sisters Susan Wallace (Frank), Carol Wolfram (Mike), and Tina Roller.

Memorial contributions would be appreciated to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).

Ronald L. Anthony, Sr. passed away Sunday, December 1st, 2024. He was Born February 28th, 1949.

He married Sandra Anthony on June 29th, 1982. He &nbsp;is survived by his wife, Sandra, of the home.

Ronald L. Anthony, Sr. 1949 - 2024

Steven Estes passed away quietly in his sleep Sunday, December 1, 2024, at the age of 74 in his home in St Joseph, MO.

&nbsp;Steve led a very full and action filled life, having had a career in wrestling from 1979 through 2006. He ran wrestling’s NWA Midwest and owned Midland Empire Wrestling from 1995 through 2003 where he wrestled professionally as The Assassin. He later promoted wrestling until he became ill.

He was a proud veteran Honorably discharged from the US Navy in 1971.

Steve married his current wife, Jan Collado, June 10, 2005 and developed a very strong bond with his granddaughter’s Jaycelynn and Millie. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Steve was born in Wichita KS on November 18, 1950 and was preceded in death by parents, David Sr and Dorothy Estes and brother David. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Janice Sue Estes, married 1970-2003. He is survived by his sister Rosalie (Earl) Hadle with nieces and nephews through both siblings.

Steve had numerous children both naturally and through marriage later in life. &nbsp;

He will be missed by his son’s Brian Estes, Brad and his daughter Beronica Sue with numerous grandchildren through them. &nbsp;

In his home Steve is survived by his wife Jan (Collado) Estes, where he gained sons and daughters. Brandi (Anthony) Lopez, Kristi (Phil) Ellis, Jaime (Kim) Collado, Staci Collado, Kevin Collado, and Joy Collado along with many grandchildren that he was able to form a strong bond with.

In his last months of fighting he was also taken care of by Matt Dilley, who loved him and dedicated many hours to making Steve as comfortable as possible.

He ran wrestling’s NWA Midwest and owned Midland Empire Wrestling from 1995 through 2003 where he wrestled professionally as The Assassin. He later promoted wrestling until he became ill.He was a proud veteran Honorably discharged from the US Navy in 1971.Steve married his current wife, Jan Collado, June 10, 2005 and developed a very strong bond with his granddaughter’s Jaycelynn and Millie. &nbsp;&nbsp;Steve was born in Wichita KS on November 18, 1950 and was preceded in death by parents, David Sr and Dorothy Estes and brother David. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Janice Sue Estes, married 1970-2003. He is survived by his sister Rosalie (Earl) Hadle with nieces and nephews through both siblings.Steve had numerous children both naturally and through marriage later in life. &nbsp;He will be missed by his son’s Brian Estes, Brad and his daughter Beronica Sue with numerous grandchildren through them. &nbsp;In his home Steve is survived by his wife Jan (Collado) Estes, where he gained sons and daughters. Brandi (Anthony) Lopez, Kristi (Phil) Ellis, Jaime (Kim) Collado, Staci Collado, Kevin Collado, and Joy Collado along with many grandchildren that he was able to form a strong bond with.In his last months of fighting he was also taken care of by Matt Dilley, who loved him and dedicated many hours to making Steve as comfortable as possible.There are no visitation or services scheduled at this time.&nbsp;<figure>

Mary Louise Showalter Howes died November 29, 2024, at Carriage Square Nursing Home, St. Joseph, MO.

She was born January 11, 1925, Holt County MO. She graduated from Sheridan High School, Sheridan, MO, and attended State Teachers College, Greeley, CO. During WWII she worked at Carnegie Steel, Chicago, IL. On April 20, 1945, she married her high school sweetheart Floyd V. Howes.

Mary was a bookkeeper at Frontier Electric Supply, Cheyenne, WY for 15 years; and a Records Specialist for the State of Wyoming Department of Environmental Land Quality, Cheyenne, WY. She retired in 1987, and in 1989 she and Floyd moved to St. Joseph.

Mary was a member of State of Wyoming Retirees Association, Ashland United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Wesleyan Sunday School Class, Ashland Adult Choir, and the Early American Singers. Her first love was family; her second was music.

She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Mary Pamela Howes, parents Ralph A. Showalter and Bessie L. Edwards Showalter, stepmother Johnnie B. Veazey Showalter, sisters Betty Langosch, Beverly Beeney, Darlene LaBorde, Nadine Hendrix, Peggy Snyder, and brothers Ralph, Lynn and Kirk Showalter.

Survivors are children Marsha Howes, Cockeysville, MD, Floyd C. Howes, Windsor, CO, 5 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, siblings Connie Renee, Deborah Johnson, Donna Barrett, Cindy Showalter, and Terry Showalter.

The body has been cremated. Date for memorial service and internment at Tharp Cemetery, Craig, MO to be determined. The family has requested memorials be made to the Friends of Sharp’s Grove and Tharp Cemetery, or Mosaic Hospice Care.

From the age of 9, he worked and dedicated his life helping run the family business, Baker’s Hardware. He had his start selling fireworks in the front window. From there, he progressed to co-owner and an essential figure in the business.

Ricky enjoyed hot rods and riding motorcycles. He grew up fishing and hunting with his Grandpa Willis and his Dad Marvin. He also enjoyed camping.

Survivors include his uncle, John Charles Baker; sisters, Gene Arnold and Jo Deshon (Dave); stepson, Travis; extended family and friends.

Rick married Janet P. Sollars on January 14, 1989 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She survives of the home.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years; children, Rick Russell II of Amazonia, Missouri, Teresa Woosley (Drew) of Amazonia, Missouri, Eric Uehlin (Krisma) of Savannah, Missouri, and Erica Mullins (Jeff) of Savannah, Missouri. Rick was a proud grandfather to Denziel Russell, Jordan Woosley (Atleigh), Chris Mullins, Delanie Weitlich (John), Kendrick Uehlin (Morgan), Kiazer Russell (Heather), Kalen Russell, Bela Russell, Ella Mullins, Willow Russell, and Ryker Mullins; great-grandchildren, Emilee, Renlee, Kiazer, Brecklynn, Amelia, Breighlynn, and Ricky, all of whom brought immense joy to his life. As a traveler, he proudly visited 48 states, embracing the beauty and diversity of the country. Above all, there was nothing he cherished more than the time spent surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Ellen grew up in St. Joseph and graduated from Platt-Gard Business School with a secretarial degree. She then went to work at American Family Insurance, where she worked her way up to senior secretary.

She married David Charles Carey in September 1956. He preceded her in death on July 26, 1993. She later married Harold Lee White on September 16, 1998. He preceded her in death on September 26, 2022.

She took early retirement from American Family to start her own business selling beauty supplies out of the trunk of her car, eventually operating several beauty supply stores at multiple locations, including Justine’s Beauty Supply.

Ellen loved to bowl and was on several teams at Olympia Lanes, one of which won the Missouri State Championship in 1981. She also was an avid reader of Harlequin romance novels.

She was a loving mother and grandmother, who adored her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; daughter Katherine Hardin; great-granddaughter, Jamera Thomas; brother, John James Rucker; and sister, Diana Rucker.

Survivors include her children, David Earl Carey (Ginger), Roxanne Carey, Gwendolyn Thomas (Randy), and Darryl Carey; grandchildren, David Michael Carey, Chaleese Carey-Devonshire, Andre Carey, Toney Hardin, Veneeta Cortez (Rodolfo), Nathan Thomas, Natasha Thomas, Chandelar Hagan, Jadyn Carey-Grimes; and Morgan Carey-Grimes; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Annette Ginn; brother, Doyle Rucker; other extended family and friends.

Highland, KS……..Betty Jane Snyder, of Highland, passed away peacefully Monday afternoon, November 25, 2024, at Amberwell Hiawatha. She was 95.

Highland, KS……..Betty Jane Snyder, of Highland, passed away peacefully Monday afternoon, November 25, 2024, at Amberwell Hiawatha. She was 95.Betty was born December 1, 1928, at Lincoln Park, Michigan, second to the oldest child born to Clarence Ellsworth and Mabel Wilson Wareham. The family moved to Hiawatha during her growing up years where she attended school prior to graduating high school with the class of 1946.She met her future husband Art in Hiawatha and later married January 8, 1947. They farmed and raised livestock north of Hiawatha until 1955 when they moved to Highland to make their home. She and Art raised her youngest brother Bob due to the untimely death of his mother.Betty worked at various different jobs through the years. She enjoyed helping Art raising ponies for years. Betty worked several years at the library at Highland Junior College and later in the business office until she retired. Betty then worked part-time for the Doniphan County Library District #1-Highland Branch.She was a longtime member of the Bellevue United Methodist Church, north of Leona and the United Methodist Women of the Church. The Highland Community was very important to Betty as she was active with the Pride Organization and a member of the Pollyanna Club. In her younger years, Betty enjoyed riding horses.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Art June 25, 2015, a brother Jerry Wareham, and a sister Cathy Sherman Schmidt, and daughter-in-law Melinda Wareham.Survivors include sons Dennis Snyder (Tana), Randy Snyder, both of Highland, Robert Wareham of Whiting; several nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Also surviving is a granddaughter Kathleen Adcock and three great-grandchildren. &nbsp;&nbsp;A Celebration of Betty’s life is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha, with Jerry Petering officiating. Interment will follow at the Hiawatha Cemetery.Friends may call at the funeral home after 12 noon Friday. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to services Saturday.<figure>
