Jerry Lee Meyer, age 90, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2024 at the Oregon Care Center in Oregon, Mo.

Jerry was born on March 12, 1934 in Newtown, Mo. one of three daughters of Charles C. “Lum” and Carmen A. (Holteen) Patterson. She was raised near Amazonia, Missouri and graduated from Savannah High School.&nbsp;

Jerry married Robert James “Bob” Meyer and they became parents of four boys, and lived all their married life in the Oregon, Missouri area.

Jerry was a member of the VFW Auxiliary #4838, and served as president in 1961. She also served as South Holt school PTA president from 1966 to 1967. Jerry was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Oregon. There she served as a deacon, elder, and trustee beginning in 1987 and ending with the closing of the church in 2014.&nbsp;

Jerry worked for the Pettijohn-Eiser Funeral Home, and later the Chamberlain Funeral Home for many years.&nbsp;

Jerry and Bob enjoyed traveling along the Rocky Mountains and camping with family and friends, especially in Branson, Missouri.&nbsp;

Proceeding her in death were her parents; husband, Bob in 2014; sons, Robert L. “Bobby” Meyer and Dale G. Meyer, both in 2017; and sister, Ida Mae Alexander.

Survivors include her sons, Jim Meyer of Oregon and Mark (Beth) Meyer of Falls City, Nebraska; grandsons, Aaron (Breann) and Maci; and Andrew (Adrienne) Meyer; great grandson, William “Liam” Meyer; sister, Betty Lou Yama of Las Vegas, Nevada; brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews.

Maysville, Missouri…..Vesta Elizabeth (Walters) Tunks, age 88, was born May 13, 1936 in King City, Missouri the daughter of Henry Oliver and Jessie Marie (Baker) Walters and passed away November 22, 2024.

Vesta was a graduate of King City High School and on November 22, 1956, Vesta and George William Tunks, Jr. were united in marriage. To this union two children were born. She worked at Old American Insurance Company, J.C. Penny’s and Weight Watchers for several years. After her husband George’s death in 2005 she continued working on the farm where they raised cattle. Vesta decided to retire and sold the cattle in 2017 at the young age of 81.&nbsp;

Vesta loved being with family especially watching her grandchildren grow up. She made many quilts and loved playing cards with her many friends and going to church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband George; sisters, Grace Gwendolyn, Sally Bashor, and Molly Faulconer; brothers, Harvey and Perry Oliver; and friend, Leroy Mills.

Survivors include her daughter, Ann (Curtis) Wells; son, Mark (Laure) Tunks; Grandsons, Brandon (Julie), Lucas, Jordan(Collin); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 2, 2024 at Turner Family Funeral Home with burial following at Butler Cemetery. Visitation: one hour prior to funeral services at the funeral home.

George Redman Fugett, 74, of Kansas City, MO passed away November 26, 2024.

He was born on February 5, 1950, to George Joseph and Vivian Lousie (Crump) Fugett in Leavenworth, KS. George grew up in Platte City and graduated from Platte County High School in 1969.

On March 5, 1971, he was united in marriage to Vicky Rae Martin. After their marriage they lived in Platte County where they made their home.

George was a retired teamster truck driver and drove truck for Consolidated Freight Ways for over 30 years. He then worked for Kansas City Missouri Transit Service and retired after 5 years. He was currently working for Drury Inn as a shuttle driver. His favorite job was babysitting his 3 grandchildren and his great-granddaughter.

He was a member of Ferrelview Christian Church. George enjoyed fishing, bowling, mini golfing and attending and participating in all his children’s and grandchildren’s activities. George loved the life he made with Vicky and he was a wonderful husband, dad and Papa.

George was preceded in death by his parents George Fugett and Vivian Oliver; and brothers Larry “Buddy” Williams, John Williams and Robert “Bob” Phillips; father-in-law Raymond Martin.

He is survived by his wife Vicky Fugett; children Scott Fugett, John (Janelle) Fugett and Chrissy (Kevin) Robinette; grandchildren Cole, Ray (Shelby), Katie and Lucas; great-granddaughter Caroline; sisters Alice “Penny” (Bob) Poynter and Mary (Paul) Spears; mother-in-law Thelma Martin; several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Marilyn Hattan, age 84, of Atchison, Kansas, died Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Atchison Gran Villas surrounded by her loving family.&nbsp;

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph Church. Visitation with the family will be from 9:15 A.M. until 10:15 A.M. at the Church. A parish rosary will begin at 10:15 A.M. Interment will be at St. Leo’s Catholic Cemetery in Horton, Kansas. Memorials are suggested to Atchison Gran Villas Activity Fund and may be left in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. Marilyn preferred to wear blue jeans and t-shirts, and in this thought the family asked that you dress casual. Also, motorcycles are welcome.&nbsp;

Marilyn was born April 24, 1940, in Horton, Kansas, the daughter of Ted and Caroline (Lockwood) Siebenmorgen. She attended Mount St. Scholastica Academy graduating in 1958. Following graduation, she and Glenn Hattan were married on July 14, 1958, at Sacred Heart Church in Atchison. They were married for 60 years, when Mr. Hattan preceded her in death on August 1, 2018.

Marilyn served as a hot lunch cook at ACES for many years while her daughters were in school. She was employed with Dr. Growney’s office for five years before serving at the Atchison County Health Department.&nbsp;

She was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Church, now St. Benedict Parish. Spending many years as the sacristan at Sacred Heart Church until its closing.&nbsp;

Marilyn loved to stay busy, she enjoyed numerous craft projects, such as sewing, quilting, painting and crocheting. She loved making rosaries and often gifting them to people in her life. Marilyn appreciated photography. She liked playing cards with friends or in her later years at Gran Villas participating in BINGO. Technology didn’t scare Marilyn as she worked up the Hattan and Siebenmorgen family genealogy on her home computer. She was the go-to family historian for the Siebenmorgen family and helped to plan many of the reunions. Of all her talents and hobbies, one stands out and that was her gifted ability to decorate cakes, she was able to say she made both her daughter’s wedding cakes. &nbsp;

Survivors include her daughters Glenda (Ed) LaBarbera, Dodge City, KS; Mary Lynn (John) Monson, Atchison, KS; a sister, Dorothy Randall, Atchison, KS, seven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a grandson, John; and a granddaughter, Beth.&nbsp;

Groshong, lovingly known as “Dr. Fong,” age 67, a devoted husband to Margaret (Macon) Groshong, a cherished uncle, a steadfast friend, and a pillar in the emergency services community, passed away on November 24, 2024, in Stewartsville, Missouri. Born on August 25, 1957, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Marion F. and Dorris L (Strong) Groshong.

Professionally, Steve was a groundbreaker and trailblazer in public safety and health care. He was a dedicated Reserve Sargent with the Buchanan County Sheriff’s Department beginning in 1981, where he worked as a paramedic on the Drug Strike Force team. During his 35 years as a nationally registered paramedic, he served with Tri-County Ambulance, MAST Ambulance, Heartland Paramedics, and for the last 10 years as the Buchanan County EMS Director of Operations.

He was integral to the department's establishment in 2014, where he prioritized the needs of each patient.

Steve’s life was defined by his dedication to both his work and his passions. His enthusiasm extended far beyond his career, touching every aspect of his life. He was an avid competition shooter, demonstrating skill and dedication through his membership in the NRA Club, Second Amendment rights groups, and numerous other organizations, including MARC, USPSA, ICOR, IDPA, and RHSOC. His passion for safety and preparedness was equally evident in his service to the community. Steve proudly served on various boards,&nbsp;including those of Homeland Security, the Red Cross, and Buchanan County Emergency Management. His contributions to these organizations reflected his unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of others.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Russell Euler and Sandy Euler; brother-in-law, Russell Meyrick; and father-in-law, William Macon.

Survivors of the home include his soulmate and wife of 26 years and his dog Max; sister, Linda Duncan; sisters-in-law, Mary Starner (Scott) and Pam Euler; mother-in-law, Pauline Macon; special niece, Serena Mitchell (Miles) and her children, Miley and Myra; several other nieces and nephews; and his EMS and Sheriff’s Department family, will deeply miss his presence.

Doug Fuller, 80, St. Petersburg, Florida, formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, November 22, 2024.

He was born June 29, 1944 in Selma, Alabama to E.B. and Helen (Harder) Fuller. He grew up in Selma, graduating from Suttle High School in 1962, then attending Marion Military Institute in Alabama.

After relocating to the Sedalia, Missouri, area in 1967, Doug enlisted in the U.S. Army National Guard.

He met Marjorie Hazel Coleman in Sedalia, and they were married August 19, 1967. They later divorced. Doug married Rhonda Kay Groneweg on April 1, 1988.

Doug began his lengthy career in cable television in Sedalia before joining St. Joseph Cablevision in 1967, where he worked for 31 years. After retirement, he stayed on as a consultant for many years. He enjoyed mentoring others and sharing his entrepreneurial knowledge.

An adventuresome, outgoing, ornery fellow, Doug enjoyed riding motorcycles and doing motorcycle trials in his early years, then later on developed a love for sailing and sailboat racing. He was a member of the Boca Ciega Yacht Club, and he and Rhonda enjoyed sailing to many vacation destinations, including the Caribbean.

Doug loved sharing his time and sense of humor with his family, especially his grandkids.

Survivors include his wife, Rhonda; daughter, Stephanie Wegenka (David); grandchildren, Jessica, Parker and Connor Wegenka; stepchildren, Marcy Hopkins (Pal) and Kevin Stewart; step- grandchildren, Zakerie Stewart (Amanda), Cody Hopkins (Hannah), Austin Hopkins (Esther), and Maddison Hopkins; step-great-grandchildren, Layla, Bentley, Lexie, Joanna, and Anabella; former wife, Marjorie; brother, Dale Fuller (Gail); other extended family and friends.

Doug Fuller 1944 - 2024

Larry Dean Schwensen, 84, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, November 4, 2024 in a Savannah, MO health care center. He was born June 11, 1940 in Oak Grove, Missouri, son of the late Anna &amp; Walter Schwensen. 

He graduated from Shawnee Mission High School in 1958. He served in the United States Coast Guard. 

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Lois, and nephew, Daniel Schwensen.

Larry Dean Schwensen, 84, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, November 4, 2024 in a Savannah, MO health care center. He was born June 11, 1940 in Oak Grove, Missouri, son of the late Anna &amp; Walter Schwensen. He graduated from Shawnee Mission High School in 1958. He served in the United States Coast Guard. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Lois, and nephew, Daniel Schwensen. Ryan Vasut, 43, passed away on Friday, November 22nd after a year-long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his wife, children, and close friends when his faith became sight.

Born in St. Joseph, Missouri to Bob and Diana Vasut, Ryan enjoyed an incredible childhood of fishing, swimming, exploring, sports, reading and family adventures both on the farm and on family trips. Attending church with his family, he heard the gospel preached and surrendered his life to Jesus at nine years old. His love for God’s Word began early as he devoured his Adventure Bible, eventually adding Bible commentaries as a teen. He discovered a love for mission trips in high school, and volunteered on trips to The Philippines, China, Haiti, and many US states.

Ryan was a lifelong learner, earning a BS in Advanced Biblical Studies from Calvary Bible College, a Master’s of Divinity in Biblical and Theological Studies and a Master’s of Theology in New Testament from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Master’s of Science in Library Science from the University of Kentucky. He worked for many years at Boyce Library at SBTS, culminating in his position as Associate Librarian, and he enjoyed building and reading his personal theological library until his passing.

Ryan was a wonderfully loving husband to Megan for nineteen years, welcoming five children into the world together. Ryan led bible studies for his family in their home, taught the children to garden, and spent countless hours playing games, doing puzzles, wrestling, and reading books with the children. Their family enjoyed many adventures and traditions together, and will continue to do so in his honor.

Ryan and Megan were members of Frazier Baptist Church as young adults, and joined Highview Baptist Church in 2008 after moving to Louisville, Kentucky. Ryan enjoyed teaching God’s Word in different contexts, but was exceptionally gifted at teaching and writing curriculum in Children’s Ministry.

He spent his last years faithfully providing for his family as a Humana employee, where he made many friends who supported him in his career and in his battle with cancer.

Ryan was determined not to waste his cancer. He prayed that his season of suffering would honor the Lord, and that the Lord would use it to bring others to know and trust Him. Ryan spent the last year of his life pouring the Word into his children, deepening his relationships with others, and offering his life and death to be used by the Lord for His glory.

Ryan was preceded in death by grandparents, Elo and Mary Vasut; grandparents, Edward and Lynna Mae Barnett; uncle and aunt Almus and Joyce Allen. Ryan also met their two miscarried children, Evelyn and Rylan Vasut, upon his homecoming.

Ryan is survived by his wife, Megan; children, Allison (13), Lily (10), Weston (9), Grayson (6), and Selah (3); parents Bob and Diana Vasut; brothers Eric (Sara) Vasut and Colton (Elizebeth) Vasut; 14 nieces and nephews; many other relatives, and an abundance of church family.

Visitation will be 2pm to 4pm on Sunday, December 1, 2024 at Highview Baptist Church, 15201 Shelbyville Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40245. A celebration of Ryan’s life will follow at 4pm.

A separate service will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at Frazier Baptist Church, Gower, MO. at 6pm with visitation to follow until 8:00pm. The family burial will take place at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Gower, Missouri.

Eugene "Gene" Anthony Miller, aged 94, of Rushville, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2024, in Atchison, Kansas. Born on December 28, 1929 in Troy, Kansas. Gene was the beloved son of the late Josephine and Joseph Miller. In his early years, he attended Pleasant Ridge School, a one-room schoolhouse, but left to help his family on the farm during hard times.

Gene proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War Conflict as part of the Military Police, where he trained as a fingerprint specialist. On July 22, 1961, he married Shirley Bradford Sanger, with whom he shared a loving life.

Gene was a dedicated farmer, a puzzle master, and a great dancer who enjoyed playing cards. He loved visiting with fellow farmers at the local barber shop, and was known for his grand storytelling, infectious laugh, and great jokes. Above all, he cherished his family deeply.

He was a devoted member of St. James Catholic Church, and a 25-year member of the Rushville Lion's Club, where he supported the Bike-a-Thon fundraisers.

Gene is survived by his wife, Shirley Elaine Miller; his children, Vicki (Doug) Hickman, Brenda (Ron Scamurra) Miller, Brian (Shannon) Miller, and Regina "Gina" (Michael) Hunt; his grandchildren, Ashley, Lyndsey, Whitney, Cole, Brady, Riley, Jacque, Zach, Isabel, Henry, Michelle, and Morgan; and his great-grandchildren, Mack, Miles, Maggie, Camden, Carter, Khylan, Judah, Caleb, Weston, Benjamin, Lucas, Grayson, Nathan, and Baby Waller #2 on the way. Born on August 25, 1957, in St. Joseph, Missouri, his journey through life was marked by dedication, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to those he served.

He was born August 25, 1957 to Marion F. and Dorris L. (Strong) Groshong in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Steven married Margaret Audrey Macon on June 18, 1998. She survives of the home.

Professionally, Steven was a paragon of healthcare and public service. His tenure as a nationally registered paramedic for over 35 years featured unwavering service to the community, culminating with his role as the Director of Operations for Buchanan County EMS. He was integral to the department's establishment in 2014, ensuring quality care for all its recipients. A dedicated reserve officer since 1981, Steven's work with the Sheriff’s Department Drug Strike Force was exemplary, complemented by his time as a career paramedic with both Tri-County and MAST.

Steven's enthusiasm extended beyond his work into varied interests. An avid competition shooter, he was a member of the NRA Club, Second Amendment rights groups, and numerous other organizations including MARC, USPSA, ICOR, IDPA, and RHSOC. His passion for community safety and preparedness led him to serve on multiple boards, including Homeland Security, Red Cross, and Buchanan County Emergency Management.

Survivors include his wife of 26 years; sister, Linda Duncan; sisters-in-law, Mary Starner (Scott) and Pam Euler; mother-in-law, Pauline Macon; special niece, Serena Mitchell (Miles) and her children, Miley and Myra; several other nieces and nephews; and his EMS and Sheriff’s Department family, will deeply miss his presence.

Francis Thomas Till, 85, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, November 22, 2024.

He was born September 1, 1939 in St. Joseph to Adam and Rita (Kessler) Till. He grew up in St. Joseph and graduated from Central High School in 1957.

Francis married the love of his life, Kathy J. Palmer, and they shared over 50 years together. She survives of the home.

He was an incredibly hard worker, from his job at Standard Oil Company, to owning his own jobbership, to farming.

Francis loved being outdoors and everything about farming, especially spring planting and the fall harvest. He was truly in his element while out in the fields.

He enjoyed camping, and in their younger years, Kathy and Francis liked to go square dancing at the YMCA.

Francis was a lifetime member of Seven Dolors Catholic Church, a parish his family helped establish.

The life he led leaves a legacy for his family, one of hard work and being a true family man.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and his wife, James and Martha Till; and sister, Christine McKnight.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy; children, Debra Till and Frank Till (Carrie); grandchildren, Frankie (Alle), Alyssa, Marcelo, and Mario; a great-granddaughter on the way; sister, JoAn Edgar (Roger); brother-in-law, Leroy McKnight; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends; and his beloved cat, Squirt.

Hal dedicated his professional life to the betterment of his beloved hometown as the diligent Chief Building Inspector for the city of St. Joseph. He leaves behind a loving family, including his daughter, Sarah Jensen-Travis (Joel); his son, Joshua Jensen (Ashley); four grandchildren; sisters, Sherry Bradshaw and Stacey Mollus (Rodney); alongside extended family and friends who will miss him dearly. Hal was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Michael Jensen.

A man with a passion for learning, Hal's pursuit of education culminated in him earning a Bachelor's degree. This knowledge, coupled with his innate talent for working with his hands, led him to generously offer his skills in plumbing and construction to anyone in need, often free of charge. His love of craft arts was matched only by his enthusiasm for motorcycles, particularly his beloved Harley-Davidson.

Beyond his hobbies and professional endeavors, Hal’s unwavering Christian faith was a cornerstone of his life. His written reflections on faith culminated in a book that filled him with immense pride. True to his faith, Hal recognized the plight of the homeless and those in need, taking on the mission to offer help and hope within St. Joseph.

Tom Grier, 71, of rural Gower, MO passed away, November 19, 2024.

He was born on June 29, 1953 to Ralph Eldon and Patricia Ann (Walkup) Grier in St. Joseph, MO. Tom grew up near Gower on the farm and graduated from Gower High School in 1971.

After graduation he farmed near Gower and was also a welder in Kansas City for over 30 years. In his free time Tom enjoyed raising cattle, even a few buffalo and cruising around in his John Deere Gator. He was a doting generous grandfather and proud father.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Sharon Bennett.

He is survived by two sons, Clint (Holly) Grier and Kurtis (Amanda) Grier; grandchildren, Kyle Grier, Ruby Grier, and Clara Grier; great-grandson, Stetson Grier; brother Ellis Grier; other relatives and many friends.

Tom Grier 1953 - 2024

Stephen Clifford Crouse died peacefully in his sleep on the morning of November 21, 2024.

He was born June 1, 1947, as the eldest son of Clifford and Margaret Crouse (nee Grier). Stephen was a lifelong resident of Easton where he attended the local schools. After graduating from Easton High School in 1965, he attended Missouri Western College and graduated with a history degree. With his father and brothers, Arthur, George, and John, Stephen was a dairy farmer and farmed the soil that his great-grandparents, George and Vollie Crouse, began tilling in 1894 as a Buchanan County pioneer farm. In his free time, he was an avid reader and collector of historical books and decorative objects.

He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Brian Crouse.

Stephen was a lifelong member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Easton.

In addition to his three brothers, Stephen is survived by his sister, Marilyn Rittenberg, brother-in-law Michel Rittenberg, sisters-in-laws, Cindy Crouse, DiAnne Crouse, and Diane Crouse. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Bethany Crouse, Matthew Crouse, Andrew Crouse, McKenzie Beech, Ryan Rittenberg, Camille Acosta, Jami Dodge, Jill Mead, and Jessica Wilson, and thirteen great-nieces and nephews.

Throughout his illness, Stephen appreciated deeply the generous love and support of his two sisters-in-law, Cindy and DiAnne Crouse, and cousins, Charlotte Holeman and Patty Sweeney.

Kenneth Bruce Schuetz, of Smithville, Missouri, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2024, at North Kansas City Hospital. He was 82 years old.

Ken was born on August 19, 1942, in Kiowa, Kansas, to Erwin and Evelyn Agnes Schuetz(Timken). As the only boy among six siblings, Ken grew up surrounded by five older sisters, adynamic that undoubtedly shaped his fiery determination, sharp wit, and a healthy dose ofstubbornness. On April 6, 1963, he married the love of his life, Dianne Schuetz (Schaefer), inWellington, Kansas. They shared 51 wonderful years together before her passing in May 2014.Ken is survived by his three sons, Jeff (wife Lori), Greg (wife Gail), and Todd (wife Laura); ninegrandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, with a tenth on the way; and his sister, Billie Conover(Schuetz). He cherished his family above all and found immense joy in their lives andaccomplishments.

A successful business owner, Ken approached life with dedication and a sharp sense of humor.He loved spending time with his dogs, watching birds, and sharing moments of laughter withthose around him. Known for his bit of orneriness, quick wit, and fiery personality, he left alasting impression on everyone he met.

Ken’s wisdom and values deeply influenced his loved ones, especially his grandson, Noah,whom he taught to drive. From their conversations, Ken shared a personal creed: “Focus,balance, faith”—virtues he believed were key to living a good life.

A private family service will be held to honor Ken’s memory. His legacy of love, faith, and humor will live on through his family and the countless lives he touched.

Candy Marie Smith, 62, of Nodaway, MO passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at her home in Nodaway, MO. &nbsp;She was born September 4, 1962 to Robert and France (Pierson) Culver in Verdun, France. She married Mickey Smith on July 29, 1988 in Amazonia, MO and he survives of the home.

Candy was the “go to” lady in the Home Depot Gardening Center. Others always came first to Candy. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and decorating for holidays with her family. &nbsp;

Survivors include her mother, husband; children, Kyle (Brittany) Smith and Jeremy Smith both of Nodaway, MO; brother, Remy (DeAnna) Culver of Savannah, MO and numerous family and friends.

George Raymond Wilson, 64, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at Mosaic Life Care. He was born July 3, 1960 in Hiawatha, KS, son of Ethel and George Wilson. 

He worked at B&amp;R Insulation for over 20 years as an Asbestos Removal Supervisor. He loved photography, was an avid diver which he enjoyed diving in caves and spending much of his time in nature, often exploring Loess Bluffs Wildlife Refuge and watching eagles. 

George was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Rick Wilson and Robert Roberts, sister, Mary Ann Teeter, brother-in-law, Ernest Best, Sr. 

Survivors include siblings, Johnny (Kathy) Roberts of Jonesboro, AR, Pam (Terri) Wilson of Harker Heights, TX, Donald Roberts of St. Joseph, Mary Lou Wooden of Highland, KS, Terry Roberts of Savannah, MO, Martha (William) Gerling of Liberty, MO, and Lynda (Mitchell) Sherman of St. Joseph, sister-in-law, Sherry Wilson of Flemington, MO, numerous nieces and nephews.

George Raymond Wilson 1960 - 2024

John Howard Foley 85, of St. Joseph, MO., passed away Friday, November 22, 2024 at the Cameron Veterans Home, Cameron, MO. He was born November 7, 1939 in McPaul, IA, son of the late Lucille and Francis Foley.

He graduated from Central High School class of 1957, then joined the United States Marines Corps. After his discharge he returned to achieve his degrees from Northwest Missouri State University BS ED, then a Masters in Education, and later obtained a degree in Library science. He married Karen Comte on April 29, 1990 and she survives the home. John retired after 37 years of teaching from Benton High School, teaching world history, government, and then became the Librarian. He was an avid gardener, excellent cook, he loved everything South Side St. Joseph, and was an avid history buff for St. Joseph and Benton High School, writing the 2 volume book "A Centennial History of Benton High School 1905-2005" which contains a complete list of all the graduates in that time period. 

John was preceded in death by his parents, 1/2 sister, Dorothy Sandusky, sister, Sue Gering, and 1/2 brother, Bill Foley. 

Survivors include wife, Karen Jean Foley of the home, sons, Michael (Corina) Foley of Nixa, MO, and Ryan (Lelana) Foley of Grain Valley, MO, step sons, Daniel (Maggie) Sullivan of Bethel, Maine, Michael (Rachael) Sullivan of Charlottesville, VA, and Sean (Chris) Sullivan of London, England, step daughters Meg (Jorge Neves) Sullivan of Narrowsburg, NY, and Erin Sullivan of Alexandria, VA, sister Mary Lou Gerstner of St. Joseph, MO, and 17 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Kevin Ray Derry, aged 60, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at Mosaic Life Care. Born on November 11, 1964, in St. Joseph, he was the beloved son of Helen (Shanks) and Lawrence Derry Sr.

After completing high school, Kevin served his country in the US Army, and was a proud member of the VFW. He worked at Silgan Containers, and had a passion for shooting guns, as well as knife and axe throwing.

Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Devin Derry, and his siblings, Lawrence Derry Jr., Bobbie Jo Arnold, Mark Riley, and Bobby Riley. He is survived by his son, Michael D. Derry of Surry, VA, and his siblings Linda Vejar, Luis (Peggy) Derry, Lorie Auxier, Leslie (Melvin) Pummell, Lucas Derry, Billy (Nancy) Derry, Angela (Mike) Butram, Lisa Derry (Terry Horr), Bernie Derry, Joe Riley, Donna Nucci, and Alice Chavez-Derry.

Elaine (Chapman) Dunster, aged 75, of Savannah, Missouri, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, November 20, 2024. Born on April 15, 1949 in Salt Lake City, UT, Elaine was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, who cherished her family above all else.

Elaine graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She married the love of her life, Garry Dunster, on August 1, 1973, and together they raised a beautiful family. Elaine was passionate about home schooling, sewing, and gardening, and she had a deep love for learning and teaching.

Elaine was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where she found great joy and community. She is survived by her husband, Garry Dunster, and their seven children: Jeffrey (Gracie) Dunster, Katy (Cullen) Williams, Randy (Shantelle) Dunster, Anthony (Jessica) Dunster, Emily (Casey) Porter, Kimberly Dunster, and Saralee Dunster. Elaine was also blessed with 15 granddaughters and 15 grandsons, who brought immense joy to her life. She is also survived by her two brothers, Doug and Mark Chapman, and three sisters, LaRue Howells, Jan Engle, and Arlene Bassett.

Elaine was preceded in death by her father, David Chapman, her mother, Fern Lillian Chapman, and her stepmother, June Chapman.

Elaine Dunster 1949 - 2024

Betty Ruth Anders Beaver, 82 of rural Agency, Missouri passed away on Friday, November 22nd, 2024 at her home, surrounded by her family. Betty was born on October 5th, 1942 in Camden, Arkansas to Bertha Everlean (Cason) and Otha Anders. She graduated from Fairview High School in Fairview, Arkansas where she was an active student in extracurricular organizations and excelled in academics as an honor student.

Betty was joined in marriage to EJ Beaver in June of 1960, from this union they welcomed 3 sons Edwin JR, Roger, and Jonathan. They settled in rural Agency with their growing family. At this time she also furthered her education by enrolling at Missouri Western, graduating in the class of 1972 with her bachelor's degree in education. With her degree she worked with students with learning disabilities. Being nominated as teacher of the year twice. She was employed with the following schools though her years of teaching: Mid-Buchanan, St. Joseph School District, and the Doniphan County Education Cooperative. She collectively taught for 30 years. In addition to teaching, Betty also devoted her teaching talents to numerous programs within the schools with programs such as Learning Disabilities Program, Preschool Screening Program, Adult Basic Education and coached numerous sports through the years. She also worked at Red Lobster for 18 years while teaching.

Betty was active in area programs such as the Pony Express Association of the Blind, where she served as president for several years, the Missouri Council for the Blind, Board member of OATS. She was also a member of the Hope Fellowship Church.

Survivors include sons, Edwin Beaver, JR. (Patsy), Jonathan Beaver (Kelly), Grandchildren, Brandy Knight (Ryan), Brooke Gunter (Jacob), Christopher Beaver (Katie), Amanda Anders, Great Grandchildren, Marley Knight, Matthew Beaver, Nathaniel Beaver, Brynlee Beaver, Caleb Cook, Carter Cook, and Violet Cook.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Brother Johnnie Anders, Sister Sherry Lynn Grulick, Son Roger Beaver, and Daughter-in-law Vicky Beaver.

The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00am with the service officiated by Pastor Earnestine Blakley following at 11:00am at Heaton-Bowman-Smith-Sidenfaden Chapel at 3609 Frederick Blvd. St. Joseph, MO 64506 on Tuesday November 26th, 2024. A private interment will take place at the Faucett Cemetery in Faucett, Missouri.
