Tony O Ganote passed away on January 13, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Kansas City, Mo., on January 16, 1963, to his loving parents, Tony G Ganote and Dorothy Ann (Eckvall) Ganote. Tony graduated high school at Maysville in 1981. He worked for many years at Dungy’s Market in Maysville and for 13 years at the Missouri Correctional Center in Cameron, as a Corrections Officer, retiring in 2013.
Tony was united in marriage to the love of his life, Barbara J. Hudson, on June 1, 1996. They made their home in Cameron for many years and later moved to Kansas City.
Tony was known by all who met him as a man who truly cared for his friends and family. He had a rare gift for making people feel seen, valued, and welcomed.
He will be remembered as a man with a passion for Kansas City sports. Tony’s greatest joy was found in sports and the people he shared them with. From cheering on the Chiefs and Royals to discussing plays, scores, and unforgettable moments, sports brought him energy and connection. Game days were never just about the game—they were about togetherness, laughter, and building memories.
One of Tony’s favorite pastimes was taking trips to national and state parks with his dear Barbara. Together, they found peace in winding roads, wide-open skies, and the quiet beauty of nature. These journeys were more than vacation or trips, they were moments of love, reflection, and joy that can be cherished and remembered for a lifetime.
His strength came from empathy, and his presence brought comfort. He leaves behind a community betterr for having known him, and his spirit lives on in all the lives he touched and those who loved him.
Tony was preceded in death by his mother Dorothy Ann Ganote and father Tony G Ganote.
