Georgia M. Baublit, 95, Rushville, Missouri, died Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Carriage Square Nursing Home in St. Joseph, Missouri.&nbsp;

Memorial services will be Sunday, August 13th, at 4:00 P.M. at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Sugar Creek Cemetery in Rushville, Missouri. Memorial contributions are suggested to Three Rivers Hospice and may be left in care of the funeral home.&nbsp;

Georgia was born September 7, 1927, in Trenton, Missouri, the daughter of Carl J. and Cordia E. (Bofman) Leihr.&nbsp;

She and Franklin A. Baublit were married November 8, 1976, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mr. Baublit preceded her in death on January 24, 2002.

Georgia was employed at the St. Joseph state hospital as a nursing supervisor for over 19 years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Over the years she had various hobbies that included sewing and crocheting. Georgia was an avid archer and belonged to an archery club. She was a member of the New Home Baptist Church and enjoyed taking her grandchildren to church.&nbsp;

Survivors include a son, Richard (Nancy) Bozarth, Rushville, MO, daughters, Lenora (Robert) Justus, Neosho, MO, Brenda (Jerry) Fischer, Savannah, MO, Susan (Donald) Cottrill, St. Joseph, MO, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Carl E. Leihr, a daughter, Lucinda Sue Cook, a son-in-law, Tom Cook, a grandson, Tommy Cook, a great-great granddaughter, Blakely Jones, and a brother, Charles Donelson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and William Hays, Sr.; brother, Edward Hays; stepson, Bobby Gillenwater; stepdaughter, Vicky Morrison; and his beloved dog, Bear.

Warren 'Fred' Hays 1949 - 2023

Mark Edward Smith, 70, of Trimble, Missouri passed away August 7th, 2023. He was born May 5th, 1953, to the late Dewel Smith and Betty (Jones) Smith in Fredericktown, Missouri.

Mark was raised in Des Arc, Missouri, and accepted Christ as his personal Savior at age 6. Mark graduated from South Iron High School in 1971. On May 25th, 1974, he married his one true love, Theresa. Together, they worked in ministry in Mark’s father’s church in Des Arc, Missouri. In 1976, Mark and Theresa moved to Tennessee, joined the Church of God, and started pursuing active ministry. Mark became a licensed minister in the Church of God at the age of 26. Mark and Theresa pastored their church in 1980 in Flat River, Missouri for five years, during which Mark became an Exhorter in the Church of God. They pastored the Church of God in Joplin, Missouri for three years. The longest pastoral ministry was in Cuba, Mo, starting in 1988 until 2011, where lifelong friendships were developed, and the congregation played an important role in Mark and his family’s life. While in Cuba, Mo, Mark became Ordained on August 15th, 1988. Mark continued to further his ministry by becoming an Ordained Bishop on June 7, 1990. God, then, led Mark to pastor in St. Joseph, Missouri until God called him home.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Theresa Smith and his two daughters, Rachel Eckles of Smithville, Missouri (husband William Eckles) and Treva Finley of St. Joseph, Missouri (husband Josh Finley); four grandchildren, Dylan Eckles (13), Austin Eckles (10), Ava Dodrill (10), and Audrey Finley (3), and his brother Thomas Smith, wife Sandy Smith, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many close friends and members of his congregation at Abundant Faith Church of God, who loved and supported him through the end of his ministry.

Mark was an avid fisherman, golfer and loved to take the grandchildren out on the boat tubing.

Mark faithfully dedicated his life to the ministry and made an impact on everyone he met. Mark’s mantra in life was the Church is a healing center for a hurting world. Mark was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud Papa.

The family is asking for any memorial donations in support of the Bread of Life Orphanage in Brosteni, Romania. Donations can be sent to the Administrative Office at 920 Center Church Rd, East Earl, PA 17519.

Jerry Franklin Zembles, 85, a beloved resident of Mound City, MO, peacefully passed away on Sunday morning, August 6, 2023, at the Oregon Health Care Center near his home. He was born on October 27, 1937, in St. Joseph, MO, to the late Vida and Joseph Zembles.

Jerry's life was a testament to dedication, service, and a spirit of adventure. He attended Lafayette High School before moving on to serve his country as a proud member of the United States Marine Corps as a Special Radio Operator conducting electronic anti-warfare surveillance. His dedication to his nation was a reflection of his strong character and sense of duty.

Jerry's professional path encompassed diverse experiences, each of which he approached with unwavering commitment. He worked at Armour and Company, where his work ethic and camaraderie left a lasting impact. Later, his role as a Security Officer at Ak-Sar-Ben Raceway and Coliseum showcased his sense of responsibility and his commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of the public.

Outside of his professional pursuits, Jerry embraced life with a vigor that inspired all who knew him. He found solace in the tranquility of fishing, the adventure of camping, and the allure of exploring new horizons through travel. Riding his motorcycle on open roads allowed him to feel the freedom that only the wind can provide. A true master tinkerer, Jerry had a knack for breathing life into the most intricate of mechanisms. Jerry's passion for communication extended to becoming a licensed ham radio operator (WBOVQY), where he skillfully bridged distances and created connections that transcended boundaries. Additionally, his years spent farming reflected his deep connection with nature and the importance of hard work.

Jerry was predeceased by his parents, as well as his brother William Nolan III and sister Lisa Bledsoe. 

He is survived by his loving sons: Shawn (Anna) Zembles of Columbia, MO; Shane Zembles of Wauwatosa, WI; and Christopher (Dana) Zembles of Mound City, MO. He also leaves behind his sisters Marthalee Ford and Roxy Jo White.

Jerry's legacy is beautifully embodied in his cherished grandchildren: Jacob (Sally) Zembles, Brandon (Lacy) Zembles, Joel (Christina) Zembles, Jessica Zembles, Josh Zembles, Lane Zembles, Keaton Zembles, Nathan Zembles, Matthew Zembles, and Grace Zembles. He is also survived by great-grandchildren Bryliegh Zembles, Bryn Zembles, and Ava Zembles.

A memorial service, adorned with military honors, will be conducted at the Leavenworth National Cemetery on Tuesday, August, 15th at 1430 hours.&nbsp;

Victoria Foross 81, of Saint Joseph, MO died Monday, August 7, 2023. She was born October 3, 1941 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of the late Corinne and Lawrence Foross. 

She graduated from Bishop LeBlond, and worked for the City of St. Joseph. Preceded in death by parents, and friend, Craig  Duffy. Survivors include good friend Elizabeth Duffy. 

Victoria Foross 81, of Saint Joseph, MO died Monday, August 7, 2023. She was born October 3, 1941 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of the late Corinne and Lawrence Foross. She graduated from Bishop LeBlond, and worked for the City of St. Joseph. Preceded in death by parents, and friend, Craig Duffy. Survivors include good friend Elizabeth Duffy. Dolores Jean Reynozo, 89, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2023.

She was born November 10, 1933 in St. Joseph to Charles and Oleva (Nelson) Cooper.

Dolores met the love of her life, Richard Reynoso, through her brother-in-law. Dolores married Richard on September 23, 1961. They shared 61 years together before he preceded her in death on June 2, 2023.

She proudly served her country in the U.S. Army as a medic during the Korean War. She loved taking care of the babies in the neonatal ward.

Dolores earned her bachelor’s degree in criminology in Florida, then spent her career as an elementary school teacher in both Florida and St. Joseph.

She was happiest being a homemaker and taking care of her family.

Dolores volunteered with Twin Spires Church to assist the mentally handicapped and was a longtime member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her parents; and siblings, Joan Knapp and John Cooper.

Survivors include children, Ritchie C. Reynozo (Colleen), Robin C. Reynozo (Milagro), and Relinda A. Reynozo; grandchildren, Amber Roberts, Kayla Roberts, Caton Reynozo, Alexander Reynozo, and Joshua Reynozo; and siblings, Susan Pashik and Charles Cooper.

Ken Ramsey, 75, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2023.

He was born on March 14, 1948, in St. Joseph, Missouri to Harold and Alberta (Shaffer) Ramsey.

He graduated from Fillmore High School and later went on to work as a salesman for Jamieson Machine &amp; Industrial Supply for many years.

Ken was an avid bowler, spending many nights at Olympia Lanes. He enjoyed attending Mustangs baseball games and spending his time out on the water with his fishing rod in hand. Ken was especially fond of spending time with his precious granddaughters, whom he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Patricia “Pat” Ramsey; sisters, Helen and Virginia; and brother-in-law, Glenn.

Survivors include his sons, Jason Ramsey (Barbara) and Tyler Ramsey (Jennifer); step-daughters, Denise Hockaday and Christina Wilkinson; grandchildren, Olivia, Isabelle, Ella and Ava; step-grandchildren, Cody, Aaron and Hailey, and other step-grandchildren; siblings, Ruthie (Jim), Sandy (Gerald), and Don (Kim), and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Elaine Backhus 1927 - 2023

Flora Shasteen, born October 18, 1924, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2023, surrounded by her cousin, Paula (Bob) Hall and long-time neighbor and friend Sharon (Jim) Krone.

Her parents were the late Louis and Flora Knecht. She lived in Atchison all her life. She attended Washington Grade School and graduated from Atchison High School in 1942. She also attended the Atchison Business College.&nbsp;

She and Howard O. Shasteen were married on May 4, 1951, at St. Marks Church in Atchison. Mr. Shasteen preceded her in death on April 1, 1995.

She was employed in the office of Blish Mize Co. from 1943 to 1966.

She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and the Atchison County Historical Society. She was interested in early Atchison history and compiled a three-volume scrapbook on Atchison History (1854-1922) which she gave copies to the Atchison Library and the Atchison County Historical Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and an infant daughter.&nbsp;

Survivors include a nephew, Alvalee (Carolyn) Taliaferro, great nieces and nephews and a cousin, Tana (Dennis) Snyder.&nbsp;

No services are planned. Interment will be at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery. &nbsp; Cremation was under the care and direction of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.

She lived in Atchison all her life. She attended Washington Grade School and graduated from Atchison High School in 1942. She also attended the Atchison Business College.&nbsp;She and Howard O. Shasteen were married on May 4, 1951, at St. Marks Church in Atchison. Mr. Shasteen preceded her in death on April 1, 1995.She was employed in the office of Blish Mize Co. from 1943 to 1966.She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and the Atchison County Historical Society. She was interested in early Atchison history and compiled a three-volume scrapbook on Atchison History (1854-1922) which she gave copies to the Atchison Library and the Atchison County Historical Society.She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and an infant daughter.&nbsp;Survivors include a nephew, Alvalee (Carolyn) Taliaferro, great nieces and nephews and a cousin, Tana (Dennis) Snyder.&nbsp;No services are planned. Interment will be at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery. &nbsp; Cremation was under the care and direction of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.

Bobby Dale Dreher, 68 of Savannah, MO passed away Monday, August 7, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born November 26, 1954 in St. Joseph, MO to Dale &amp; Bonnie (Noland) Dreher. He married Shirley Grishow in Rosendale, MO on August 18, 1979 and she survives of the home. &nbsp;

Bob enjoyed watching a good sprint car race, beating his best lap time while mowing, spending time at the lake, fishing, and singing karaoke with friends. At the end of the day spending time with his granddaughters is what he loved the most.

Survivors include his wife; children, Phillip (Minde) Dreher of Savannah, Nathan Dreher of St. Joseph, and Jessica Dreher of Savannah; grandchildren, Carlie, Aubrey, Riley, Eliana, and Emrey; brother, Gary Dreher of Savannah; sister-in-law, Cathy Grishow of Deepwater, MO; mother-in-law, Melissa Grishow of Savannah and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. She graduated from Benton High School and worked as a manager at the Rusty Chandelier for several years. She enjoyed garage selling, going to auctions, she loved planning the family get together's and parties, and organizing flea markets at the Rusty Chandelier. She also loved animals. 

Kathy was preceded in death by brother, Quintin Rodney Osteen, and her parents.

Dr. David Lelan Ryan, 80, of Trenton, Missouri passed away on August 6, 2023 at The Bluffs residence in Columbia, Missouri. Born on April 17, 1943, in Trenton to Lelan S. and Maude (McLean) Ryan, David attended Trenton High School where he participated in many activities including football, track, basketball and Honor Society, amongst many others. He was also a proud Eagle Scout. David then received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Missouri in 1965 and was a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity. He went on to attend medical school at the University of Missouri – Columbia, earning a Doctor of Medicine degree in 1969. It was in Columbia where he met and married Susan Vollenweider on September 10, 1967. One child was born of the marriage, their daughter, Sarah Jane Ryan. He then completed a residency in Family Medicine at the University of Michigan and afterwards moved home to practice in Trenton.

David was renowned for his lifetime devotion to Medicine as a Family Practice Doctor. Throughout his medical career, David made a lasting and positive impact on the health and well-being of thousands of families in Grundy County. When families could not afford to pay their medical bills, David still ensured that his patients received the best care possible. There are still families in Trenton where multiple generations – grandparents, parents and children – were patients of “Doc Ryan.” Cherished by all who knew him, Dr. David Lelan Ryan will forever be remembered for this passion, leaving an everlasting imprint on the heart of North Missouri.

Doctor Dave enjoyed running his dogs at the Riverside Country Club, playing and watching golf, Canada fishing trips with the Hill family, bird hunting with close friends, and listening to the “oldies”. Doctor Dave never stopped learning, with a medical journal always around the house. He was an active member of the Trenton Rotary and was on Trenton National Mercantile Bank board. David was an avid Missouri Tigers fan and could recall any football game or player from 1960 to present day. His mind was his greatest asset and anyone who visited with him was sure to leave with a detailed story or two. It is certain he lived each day according to his Trenton High School Senior Yearbook Quote: “Keen sense, common sense, and nonsense.”

Survivors include his daughter, Sarah Jane Ryan Hill (Andy); grandchildren, Patricia Ryan Brizendine (Isaac) and Andrew Tye Hill; sister, Jane Stoll (Doug); nephews, Ryan Stoll (Lisa) and Grant Stoll (Victoria). He was preceded in death by his parents, Lelan and Maude Ryan as well as his beloved dogs – Mike, Annie and Hans.

Janet Louise (Roesle) Frump, 81, passed away at the Oregon Care Center on August 4, 2023. Born on August 17, 1941, in St. Joseph, Missouri, Janet was a woman of strong Catholic faith, who dedicated her life to her family and community.

Janet was a proud graduate of Sacred Heart Convent. Her faith was a guiding force in her life, leading her to serve as a CCD teacher for 20 years. She also worked diligently for Mead Paper Products for 25 years.

Janet's love for her family was matched only by her love for her community. She was a dedicated volunteer with the Food Pantry and United Way in St. Joseph, always willing to lend a hand to those in need. Her faith-filled life was a testament to her belief in service and compassion.

Janet will be lovingly remembered, and she touched the lives of many with her kindness and generosity. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family and all those who were fortunate enough to know her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James E. and Alberta E. (Fisher) Roesle,&nbsp; siblings, Charles, Jim, Bob and Barbara, and her husband, Garold Frump.

Robert A. “Bob” Krogman, 87, of Holton, passed away on Monday, August 7, 2023 at The Pines South near Holton.

He was born on July 11, 1936 at Oneida, the son of Martin and Clara Osterhaus Krogman. He graduated from Denison High School in 1954 and served in the U.S. Army Reserve.

Bob was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Holton.

He had worked for Goodyear Tire in Topeka and retired on April 11, 1995 after 40 years. He and his brother Paul operated Krogman Motors for over 20 years. Bob also raised cattle.

He married Helen “JoRae” Nelson on August 10, 1957 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Holton. She preceded him in death on August 24, 2017.

Bob was also preceded in death by his parents, a son, Michael Krogman, who died shortly after birth, a brother, Paul Krogman, and two sisters, Judy Barrow and Alice Doyle-Lindemuth.

Survivors include a son, Gary Krogman (Beth), Silver Lake; two daughters, Nancy Kathrens (Jeff), Holton and Janet Gilliland, Lenexa; two sisters, Gladys Law, Topeka and Mary Ann Turner, Demming, New Mexico; seven grandchildren, Bailey Renfro (Cameron), Perry Berger (Levi), Rylie Fort (Duncan), Jaimie Goleman (Leif), Mark Kathrens (Samantha), Joni Wardosky and Jenna Manchion (Austin), and seven great grandchildren, Cameron and Mia Wardosky, Blakley, Brinley and Baylor Renfro, Kaiser Goleman and Carson Manchion.

Donald Lee Silvey, 78, of Trimble, MO passed away, August 5, 2023.

He was born on October 28, 1944 to Wesley and Jessie (Walker) Silvey in St. Joseph, MO. He grew up in the Trimble and Gower areas and graduated from Gower High School.

On January 22, 1965 he was united in marriage to Sheryl Ann Griggs. After their marriage they lived in St. Joseph, Belton, MO and in 1990 they moved to Trimble where they made their home.

Don was a forklift operator for Armour Food Company for over 40 years. After his retirement he was a janitor for the East Buchanan School District and volunteered at the Senior Center in Gower.

He was an active member of the Gower Baptist Church.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Debbie Silvey; his son Ronald Silvey.

He is survived by his wife, Sheryl; son, Mike Silvey and wife, Susan; granddaughter, Jessica Bowers and husband, Chuck; great-grandson, Wes; sisters, Dorothy Mae Schuster, Shirley Gilchrist, Connie Smith; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Memorial Service: 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 9th at the First Baptist Church in Gower with visitation one hour prior.

Billy Joe "Bill" VanHoutan 58, of St. Joseph, MO, passed away Friday, August 4, 2023 at his home in St. Joseph, MO. He was born November 27, 1964 in St. Joseph, MO, son of the late Janice and Donald VanHoutan.

 He worked in the roofing industry most of his life, and enjoyed spending time outside, hunting, fishing, and riding his motorcycle. 

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Tom, Ronald, and Danny VanHoutan. 

Survivors include: wife, Marla "Ilene" VanHoutan of the home, three daughters; Leslie Cook, Heidi Robinson, and Lori (Robert) Shea, 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and his sister, Diana Riggs.&nbsp;

Juanita June McFadin, age 92 of St. Joseph, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 4, 2023 in a local healthcare facility.&nbsp;

Juanita was born March 16, 1931, in Ottawa,KS the daughter of Gladys and Clarence Burros.

Juanita started teaching school at the young age of nineteen. She taught American history and Government in the school district of St Joseph Missouri from 1951 until retiring in 2000. She was very proud of her 48 years of teaching and would often have students contact her years later to reminisce. She was also an avid traveler visiting Europe 7 times and made 11 trips to Hawaii. She was a lover of animals and flowers in addition to her beloved family and friends.

She was baptized at the 1st Congregational Church at 13th &amp; Jules, St Joseph, MO as a child. &nbsp;

Juanita married Bert McFadin in 1952. To this union they were blessed with two children, Kevin and Cynthia.

She was proceeded in death by her children Kevin, at birth, Cynthia in 2015 and her husband Bert in 2014.

She will be fondly remembered by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday at the Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel. Interment will follow at Mount Auburn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at our chapel.

Sharon Roselle (Clark) Hanebuth, 79, of St. Joseph passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at a local hospital.

She was born September 3, 1943 to the late Marion and Nina Clark in Wadena, Minnesota.&nbsp;

She married Donald Hanebuth on September 30, 1961 in Deer Creek, Minnesota. He survives her of the home.

She spent the majority of her career as an administrative assistant at an insurance brokerage firm.

She was very interested in old Victorian homes and she and Don spent a great deal of time traveling the country and visiting these homes. They also had an antique store and she enjoyed collecting a wide variety of things that interested her. &nbsp;&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandchild.

In addition to her husband of 61 years, Sharon is survived by sons; Ricky (Heidi) Hanebuth of Nome, Alaska, Greg Hanebuth of Denver, Colorado and Kevin (Athena) Hanebuth of Lubbock, Texas, 10 grand children and 3 great-grandchildren.&nbsp;

Per her wishes, Mrs. Hanebuth has been cremated under the direction of the Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel.

A Private family service will be held at a later date.

Kathy was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan, dog lover and enjoyed playing bingo and traveling with her brother.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband of 31 years, Samuel Cupp of St. Joseph; children, Kyler Hubbard and Kevin Hubbard of St. Joseph, and Craig Cupp of Shelbyville, KY; brothers, Dwayne Kunzler of St. Joseph and Roger Kunzler (Gail) of Agency, MO, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Bettie Larabee, 73, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2023.

She was born on March 3, 1950, to George and Ruth (Beaman) Runnels in Cameron, Missouri.

She attended Benton High School, and later worked as a bookkeeper for St. Joseph Auto Parts. In November of 1965, she married the love of her life, Russell W. Larabee.

Bettie enjoyed receiving photos from her family and friends, treasuring the precious memories they brought her. She loved traveling with her husband and family and visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a Christian woman with a strong faith in her Lord. Her daughter says she will be remembered as a strong and resilient little lady, who overcame a multitude of hardships.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ruth Runnels; her husband of 57 years, Russell W. Larabee; their son, Rusty L. Larabee; her siblings, Charles Runnels, Marshall Runnels, Sharon Kay Runnels, Larry Runnels, Wanda McBride, and James Allen Runnels; and dearest friend, Phyllis Wilson.

Survivors include her daughter, Tammy Jordan (Troy), grandchildren, Cody Kelly (Tari), Jacie Larabee, and Mackenzee Sellars; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Bina Clark and Patty Perry (Keith), and numerous extended family members.

Shirley A. Owen, 89, passed away on August 3, 2023. She was born in Horton, Kansas on September 12, 1933, to John F. and Mildred K. (Isenberg) Smith.

Shirley was a devoted wife, marrying Lloyd "Bud" E. Owen on December 27, 1954.

She is survived by her husband and children, Tama Owen and Tracey Jensen (Nigh). Shirley cherished her grandchildren, Jordan and Kenny (Jackie) Jensen. She also relished the joy her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her. She is also survived by her siblings, Dennis Smith (Jo) and Dorothy Aschelman, and her sister-in-law, Bonnie Smith.

She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Audrey Clark (Don), and John Smith, Jr.

Shirley will be deeply missed by her family and the countless others whose lives were enriched by her loving presence and infectious laughter. Her legacy of love lives on in all who were privileged to know her.
