Eugene Irvin Moore, 74, known fondly as "Mean Gene", passed away on October 16, 2023, at his residence in Riverdale, GA. He was born in St. Joseph, MO, on April 27, 1949.
A 1968 graduate of Lafayette High School, Eugene's work ethic showed throughout his 30-year career at Wire Rope. In 1974, he married his beloved Joyce Lorraine Weston, and their union was a shining example of love and commitment.
Eugene was passionate about his faith and was a member of the Latter-Day Saints in Atlanta. After retirement, he found great joy working at the Georgia Aquarium. Bowling was a treasured pastime of his, and he took pleasure in the camaraderie and competition of the game. He was an antique enthusiast, and he could often be found scouring local flea markets for special treasures to add to his collection. Eugene also enjoyed traveling, as he liked experiencing different cultures and landscapes.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Lorraine Moore; children, Brandi Moore, Robyn Lovett, Lemuel Moore, Michael Moore (Lavesca), Toji Jones (Phillip), and Eugene Moore, Jr. (Yolanda). His joys also included twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren with one on the way. He is also survived by his siblings, Richard Cook (Angela), Carolyn Cook, and Mary Tillman (Ronald), along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and a congregation of friends.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Louise Cook, brothers, Michael and Steven Cook.
