Henry "Dick" R. Adkins, 82, of St. Joseph, MO passed away Friday October 20, 2023 in St. Joseph. He was born October 23, 1940 in Matkins, Missouri son of Laura & John Adkins. Dick enlisted into the US Army, where he was stationed in Germany and served during the Vietnam War from 1967-1969. He was proud Veteran, and member of The American Legion and V.F.W. He was also a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. In January 8,1967, he married Beverly Emmons. Dick worked as a Truck Driver for many years and later owned and operated Dick's Bait and Tackle, where he loved spending time meeting new friends and visiting with old friends. He was proud to serve his community and enjoyed helping others. His hobbies included fishing, spending time with his family, and going to Branson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Beverly, brother, Raymond Woolsey, Jr., granddaughter, Alexis Adkins, and grandson, Damen Coy. He is survived by son, Thomas Adkins, of St. Joseph, daughter, Kelly (Dewey) Coy of Merrill, IA, sisters, Juanita Kay Clouse, Marilyn McEvoy, Mary Jane Caples, Marsha Dreher and Barbara Cotton, brothers, John Allen Head, and James Adkins, grandson, Joshua Judkins, granddaughters, Kaitlyn Coy, Lacie (Cory) Adkins, Ophelia, Saphira, Ariah, Winnie Jo, and Arianna, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. Funeral Services will be 2:00 pm on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at the Rupp Funeral Home with Interment following at Memorial Park Cemetery. Jeff Long, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at the Rupp Funeral Home.
