Kimberly Kaye Barnhart was born in Livingston, Montana on June 17th 1976. Kimberly was one of 5 children born to Marvin and Donna Barnhart.

Kim lived in Livingston Montana, Chanute Kansas, Hiawatha Kansas, and most recently in Rose Hill, Kansas. She attended school in Ark City and graduated from Hiawatha High School. After graduation, Kim attended BCDS for daily activities and work. After moving to Rose Hill, Kansas Kim attended Paradigm for services.

Kim was well known for her unconditional love for everyone in her life, her free bird personality, and mostly for her singing; especially when signing with her sister Patty. &nbsp;Other activities that Kim enjoyed were riding her 3 wheeled bicycle around Powhattan, often with a passenger in the basket. She loved to sing Christmas carols, and dance. At Halloween time she loved handing candy out the trick-or-treaters. &nbsp;Kim often wanted to get “dolled-up” with makeup and perfume to tease her brothers that she was going out with the boys. She loved to attend family gatherings, and picnics that included food made for her by her family. Kim had a very special bond with her sister, Patricia. Kim and Patricia did everything together throughout their entire lives.

Survivors include the following: Brothers Tobey (Michelle) Barnhart of Rose Hill, Christopher (Tiffany) Barnhart of Valley Center, and Jeffery Barnhart of Newton. Bertha Louise (Schuman) Rohrer was reunited in Heaven with members of her beloved family on September 10th, 2023.

Born on December 25th, 1928, to Leonard and Maggie (Erb) Schuman, Bertha devoted her life to her family, faith and farm life. From the gifts of her kitchen, homemade noodles, fresh fried chicken, cherry cheesecake and angel food cake to a garden overflowing with produce and flowers, she was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great and great-great grandmother.

Bertha married Joseph Rohrer on February 18th, 1947. During their 68 Years of marriage, she assisted in farm life and the sales and service of memorial monuments.

Joe preceded her in death on May 7, 2015.

Mother to six children, Joseph Frederick (Sandy), Larry (Theresa), Mary Jane Harris, Lawrence (Becky), Therese (Deceased), Raymond (Lisa).

Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Maggie, husband, Joseph, daughter Therese, grandchildren Steve, Aleena, Chance and Mike, great grandson Blake, brothers Ernest, Milton (Butch), Harold (Blackie) and Ralph (Jelly).

Bertha left the legacy of family with 6 children, 14 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren.

Bertha served her church and community as a member of St. Ann’s Altar Society, the Cordonnette’s Extension club, the American Legion Auxiliary and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Auxiliary.

Services will include a Rosary lead by Louis Vertin Knights of Columbus #9532 at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, September 12th followed by visitation from 6-8 pm. at the Harman-Rohde Funeral Home in Wathena, Kansas. Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 13th at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Wathena, Kansas.

Burial will be at the Mount Calvary Cemetery, Wathena, Kansas following the service.

Arthur “Marvin” Gaither, 71, of Troy, Kansas passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023.

Marvin was born on January 9, 1952, to Arthur and Barbara “Jean” (Horner) Gaither.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Troy, Kansas, NHRA, and the EAA. Marvin was in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1971-1975, in Yuma, Arizona. He worked on A-4 F Skyhawk jets and was ranked as a Staff Sergeant. Marvin worked several jobs, including Service Technician at Brandt, and a Diesel Technician instructor at the Highland College Vo-Tech in Atchison, Ks. He was also a Supervisor for Doniphan County Road and Bridge Dist. #2.

Marvin married Linda Albers on April 1, 1972, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, in Bendena, Ks. She survives of the home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law Charles and Virginia Albers, brothers-in-law, David Dishon, Billy Smith, Gene Shelton, Alan Tryon and a sister-in-law, Martha Albers.

Additional survivors: Brothers, Kelvin Gaither, Troy, Kansas. Loren Gaither (Connie), Wathena, Kansas. Bryan Gaither, Fulton, Missouri. Keith Dingess Atlakson, age 92, of Atchison, Kansas, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2023, with his daughter by his side.&nbsp;

Graveside service will be Thursday, September 14, 2023, at 12:30 p.m. at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, where he and his wife, Dorothy, will be laid to rest together. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to Atchison YMCA, Atchison Recreation or NEK Hospice in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. The family welcomes those joining them to wear K-State, AHS or BC attire.&nbsp;

Keith was born November 6, 1930, in Atchison, Kansas, the son of Oscar Atlakson and Inez (McCue) Atlakson. He attended public schools in Atchison, graduating from AHS in 1948; he continued his education at Kansas State University.&nbsp;

Keith joined the United States Air Force on January 9, 1951 until his honorable discharge on November 5, 1954. While serving active duty, he and Dorothy Riley were married on July 14, 1953, in Erding, Germany. They shared nearly seventy years together until her passing on February 20, 2022.&nbsp;

Keith taught printing at the Vo-Tech College in Atchison until his retirement in 1995. Along with his “real” job, he started Atchison Fire Extinguisher in 1978, his one of many side jobs! He enjoyed his work but he was truly a sports addict, playing tennis, winning numerous city league championships, rec league basketball, YMCA volleyball team, rec softball, racketball and walleyball champs many times at the YMCA. After he perfected all of the sports in his youth, he took up golf as a member of Pineview Country Club, where he shot a hole-in-one in 1998. He was an avid fan of K-State, Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals and Benedictine College. &nbsp;

He always stayed active in the community, serving as the YMCA Board President and President of the Atchison Youth Baseball Association. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and served as a Deacon and Elder.&nbsp;

Left to carry on Keith’s legacy include his three children, his twins, Kevin Atlakson of Gladstone, MO, and Karen Atlakson Winney and her husband, Bob, of Overland Park, KS, and Mary Beth Atlakson Wohlgemuth and her husband, Kent, of Atchison, KS; six grandchildren, Sarah (Brandon) Johnson, Keith (Stacy) Wohlgemuth, Matt (Rachael) Wohlgemuth, Erin (Zach) Atlakson, Adam Winney , Andrew Winney; nine great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Cheryl Riley; three nieces and five nephews. &nbsp;&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy; brother and sister-in-law, Earl (Dorothy) Atlakson; a granddaughter, Stephanie Bartlett Drennon; brother-in-law, Dr. Ken Riley and his first wife, Merry Gay; and sister-in-law, Mary Hochuli and husband, Sheldon.

Kathleen Myers, 93, Atchison, Kansas, died Friday, September 8, 2023, at Amberwell Hospital.&nbsp;

Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, September 11, 2023, at 1:00 P.M. at St. Benedict’s Church. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A parish rosary will be Monday, at 12:00 P.M. and visitation will follow until time of service at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Humane Society of Atchison.&nbsp;

Kathleen was born November 25, 1929, in Atchison, Kansas, the daughter of John and Maurgerita M. Razo. She attended St. Benedict’s Catholic School.&nbsp;

She and John Paul “Petey” Myers were married August 16, 1958, at St. Benedict’s Church. Mr. Myers preceded her in death on September 19, 2006.

Kathleen was a devout Catholic attending mass as often as she could. She enjoyed shopping and working on crosswords. She loved gardening and planting flowers; she canned many tomatoes over the years. Kathleen was always up for a trip to the casino. &nbsp;

Survivors include two sons, JP (Rita) Myers, Fair Grove, MO, Rick (Joyce) Myers, Troy, KS, two daughters, Patty (Daniel) Gibson, Indian Hills, CO, Mary Myers, Honolulu, HI, two grandchildren, Ian Myers, Sarah Garoutte, and three great grandchildren.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Vincent Razo, Johnny Razo, Louis Razo and a sister, Delores Boger.

James Edwin Zishka, 80, of Dallas, TX, passed away September 5, 2023, at the Methodist Mansfield Medical Center, Mansfield, TX. James “Jim” was born on May 13, 1943, in Atchison, KS, the son of George and Leona (Shughart) Zishka. 

He grew up on the family farm in Nortonville, KS and graduated from Atchison County Community High School in Effingham, KS, and Emporia State University. Jim served in the United States Army, then began his twenty-six-year career with a telecommunication company until his retirement in 1994.Jim is survived by his wife Patti. He and Patti Curtiss were married on June 21, 1994, in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. 

Jim is also survived by, two sons, two daughters, ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two sisters and one brother. 

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and one sister.

A private graveside service and burial will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at the St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Nortonville, Kansas, with Deacon Ronald Zishka officiating. James Edwin 'Jim' Zishka 1943 - 2023

Lee Elvin Coats passed away on September 10, 2023, after a life of love, laughter, travel, and hard work.

Lee was the second of twelve children, born July 24, 1936, to Howard and Ellen (Flanagan) Coats. He resided in Andrew County for nearly his entire life.

With humble beginnings, he developed a strong work ethic at an early age. As a youth he worked on the family farm as well as for neighboring farmers, and the Bowen Chicken Hatchery in Union Star.

After graduating from USHS in 1954, he joined the US Air Force and served in Scotland working in intelligence. He would later say his job was so secret even he didn’t know what he was doing.

On August 7, 1960, he married Carol J. Heerlein of St. Joseph, MO. &nbsp;Together they raised four children.

He provided for his family working at Hy-Klas Dairy, Ferbert’s Lawn and Tree Services, and various construction companies before he retired from Ideker Inc. after 32 years in Laborers Local 579.

He was also a life long farmer raising cattle, pigs, and various crops. He was a member of Flag Springs Baptist Church and Savannah Masonic Lodge #71.

He enjoyed fishing, playing cards with friends at the local tavern, and recounting childhood exploits.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years and his son, Jerry Coats.

Lee is survived by his children, Howie (Annette) Coats, Becki (Rick) Steiner, Andy Coats and Cathy Coats; grandchildren, Shanea Jennings, Brooke and Joshua Steiner, Ashley, William, Wyatt, Eion, Ryan, Isaac, Jessica, and Dylan Coats, and Kassi (Justin) Ward; brothers, Irvan (Christine), William (Emma), Ted (Nola), Joe (Alice), David (Fay), and Tom Coats; sisters, Lela Innes, Jeannie (Dennis) Laffoon, Nancy (Vernon) Townsend, Cecile Talley, and Mary Orwald; Eight great-grandchildren, dear friend and companion, Glenys Stanton; caregiver and warden, Lisa Herring.

Lee Elvin Coats passed away on September 10, 2023, after a life of love, laughter, travel, and hard work.Lee was the second of twelve children, born July 24, 1936, to Howard and Ellen (Flanagan) Coats. He resided in Andrew County for nearly his entire life.With humble beginnings, he developed a strong work ethic at an early age. Awyn Lee Hughes, 87, &nbsp;was born in St Joseph Mo. She died from complications of an aphasia stroke. She was wrapped in the arms of her daughter and Grand dog, Gucci when she left us. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Bill Hughes. We pray they are now together &amp; will never be apart.&nbsp;

She was the perfect mother to Brenda Murray (Avery) of Sunrise Beach, MO and to Brian Hughes of St Joseph. A loving former daughter-law Jane Hughes and their two sons Greg Hughes (Robin) and Scott Hughes.&nbsp;

I wish you could have seen the look on Awyn's face when she was given two precious little great grandchildren, the world became perfect when Owen Gregory and Natalie LouAnn were born. She devoted her love to her family and being a “Grandma A”. She leaves two nephews Mark and Mike Hamann of Oregon, sister in-law Betty Rasco and many other nieces and nephews as well as friends who adored her to the end including the care takers from Mosaic, Carriage Square, Country Squire, Living Community &amp; our loving Hospice nurses.&nbsp;

Patricia A. (Spiek) Whitley, of St. Joseph, passed away September 9, 2023. &nbsp;She was born January 20, 1937 in Faucett, MO, to Johanna and Ignacious Spiek.

She graduated from Faucett High School and worked at KFEQ-AM/TV and Seitz Foods; retiring from Sara Lee in 2001.

Preceding her in death were her parents, three brothers, Eddie, Henry, Clarence and six sisters, Margaret Carney, Clara Gillespie, Gertie Dale, Frances Downing, Loretta Judy and Josephine Studer.

Survivor is her son Edward J. Whitley (Angi) and several nieces and nephews.

Patricia was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and also was a contributor to many charities.

Memorial service will be Friday, September 15, 2023, at 10:00 am at Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Rosary will be recited Thursday, September 14, 2023 at 6:00 pm followed by visitation until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Harlon Lee 1975 - 2023

Jon Mark “Franky” Davis passed away Thursday, September 7, 2023 in his daughter Michelle’s home, as his wife Deborah, daughter Michelle, son-in-law James, and granddaughter Laura held his hands. Jon had been in hospice care since Friday, September 1st, having been diagnosed with stage 4b metastatic stomach cancer just weeks before. It was his wish that his wife Deborah Lee Davis’ beautiful face be the last thing he saw before leaving this world, and it was so.

Many times, perhaps even most of the time, when people pass we don’t see it coming and don’t have the opportunity to say the things we later wished we had said. We are grateful that wasn’t the case with Jon Mark “Franky”.

In his final days, Jon welcomed a long list of family and friends. He got to spend time with his daughter Michelle, son-in-law James, and sons David, and Stephen. He visited with his brother Rick, Rick’s wife Judy, and his sister Linda, as well as his cousins Cliff, Cliff’s wife Joyce, and his cousin Kimmy. He also saw many of his nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, his children from his first marriage, many of his grandchildren, and his great-grandson. Several friends, both old and new, also stopped in to express their love. Among them were his good friends Mike, Sal, and Pedro.

Jon grew up in the Southside of St Joseph and attended Benton High School. He served three years in the Navy before attending MWSC where he graduated with an associate’s degree. He worked over a decade at Friskies as a maintenance mechanic and two decades at Ford Motor Company as an electrician. He retired from Ford in the winter of 2021.

Jon was an ornery jokester beloved by all. He had a knack for finding treasures disguised as junk and selling them for impressive profits. He was a generous man who would happily give family or friends the shirt off his back. He was also a tremendous resource —whatever it is you may have needed, Jon Mark “knew a guy.”

Jon and Deborah celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary on April 13th, 2023.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Eva (Taylor) Davis; his adopted grandson, Markitos; his brother, Edwin Floyd Davis; brothers-in-law, David Buxton and Doug Mayhugh; numerous aunts and uncles, cousins and a great-nephew.

Cecelia E. “Sissy” (Gardner) Chesnut, 96, of Dearborn, MO went to her heavenly home on September 8, 2023, at the Gower Convalescent Center.

She was born to Elmer and Mary Gardner on August 14, 1927. She graduated from DeKalb High School in May of 1946.

On August 30, 1946, she was united in marriage to John W. Chesnut. Afterwards, they lived near Dearborn where they made their home. The marriage produced two sons, Tom and Bernard. John passed away on November 10, 2000.&nbsp;

Sissy was a member of the United Methodist Church of Dearborn. Her career was in the medical field, where she was an assistant to Dr. David Meyers (GYN) Office for many years in Smithville, MO.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings and many nieces and nephews.

Sissy is survived by her sons and their wives, Tom and Regina Chesnut of Dearborn and Bernard and Debbie Chesnut of Edgerton, MO; four grandchildren Todd and Melissa Chesnut, Tim Chesnut, Crystal and Fred Theis and Christina and Derek Holmes; seven great-grandchildren John, McKenzie, Chase, Chance, Beau, Lainey and Hadley; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.&nbsp;

Gary Frederick Jahne, 89, of St Joseph, met His Savior face to face on September 1, 2023.Gary was born February 15, 1934, in Andrew County to Gus and Sylvia (Mowry) Jahne. 

Gary spent his childhood in Graham, MO eventually moving to St Joseph with his parents. He met the love of his life, Barbara Greenwell in 1954 at their church youth group. Gary and Barbara were both graduates of Lafayette High School. They married in 1957 and had 53 wonderful years together before her passing in2010. Gary and Barbara were longtime members of Brookdale Church.

Gary was a US Army veteran having served at Camp Hanford in Washington State as a radar operator onan Anti-Aircraft Battery during the Cold War.He retired from Boehringer Ingelheim after 38 years and was a member of Boehringer’s Veterans Club. His grandfather immigrated to the United States from Dresden, Germany to New York City. Gary’s father, Gus Jahne and his uncle, John Jahne, came from New York City to the Midwest on the Orphan Train. The Karrasch family fostered them and provided them with a loving home. Gary traveled around NW Missouri sharing his father’s and his uncle’s story and the history of the Orphan Trains and the many riders.

Gary will be remembered for his love of family, his quick wit, his fountain of knowledge, his amazing storytelling, and how he was the hands and feet of Jesus. 

Gary is survived by his 3 children, Jeffrey Jahne (Annette), Julie Williams (Robert) and Jill Frakes (Jackson). His grandchildren Aaron Corbet (Alisha), Cameron Corbet (Courtney), Jairika Sipes (Zachary),Madison Frakes, Montana Frakes, Rob and Denise Williams, Tim Williams, his great grands, who lovingly called him PaPa Great – Adalynn, Avie, Allison, Rogan, Winnie, Landon and Faith. Nephews, nieces, and his cousins whom he considered brothers and sisters.

Kathleen was a devote Catholic attending mass as often as she could. She enjoyed shopping and working on crosswords. She loved gardening and planting flowers; she canned many tomatoes over the years. Kathleen was always up for a trip to the casino. &nbsp;

Kathleen Myers, 93, Atchison, Kansas, died Friday, September 8, 2023, at Amberwell Hospital.&nbsp;Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, September 11, 2023, at 1:00 P.M. at St. Benedict’s Church. She attended St. Benedict’s Catholic School.&nbsp;She and John Paul “Petey” Myers were married August 16, 1958, at St. Benedict’s Church. Mr. Myers preceded her in death on September 19, 2006.Kathleen was a devote Catholic attending mass as often as she could. She enjoyed shopping and working on crosswords. She loved gardening and planting flowers; she canned many tomatoes over the years. She overcame the obstacles of limited eyesight by occupying her time with Bingo and various activities with her best friend Sophia Ward at Country Squire. Before she became lovingly known as “GeGe” to all that knew her she was known as “MeMa with Angels”, as she collected numerous angels from family and friends over the years.

James E. Hart, 80, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away the 5th day of September 2023.

He was born on the first day of the New Year, January 1, 1943, in St. Joseph to Paul and Virginia (Stamp) Hart.

Jim graduated from Christian Brothers High School in 1961. On January 18, 1964, he was united in marriage to Peggy Lynn McHugh.

Jim served as the president at Gray Manufacturing, a company he proudly served for over 30 years.

He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and coaching a variety of sports with his children. Family always came first, and his grandchildren were his pride and joy, so proud of all of them.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Virginia, and son, Michael Hart.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy; children and in laws, Patrick (Angela), Julie (Jamie), Tim (Carla) and Jane (Michael); his grandchildren, Ryan, Ali, Sean, Emily, Tyler and Joe; sister, Marcia Pearl (David), and numerous extended family members.

Juanito (Dr. John) Villahermosa, 93, died September 4, in Middleton, WI. Dr. John came to Savannah with his wife, Alice (deceased), and their two daughters, Melicia (Mellie) and Bibiana (Bibi) in 1969 to practice with Drs. Gilbert Kelley and Warren Baker. Dr. John went on to serve patients in Northwest Missouri until his retirement in 2014.

Dr. John was born on June 26, 1930, to Antonino Bibera and Felicidad Llosa Villahermosa on the island of Leyte in the Philippines, when it was a commonwealth of the United States. He was raised in Dumaguete, Negros Oriental, but spent his early adolescent years hiding with family and friends amid the Japanese Occupation of the Philippines during World War II. Following the American liberation, he went on to excel in academics and student leadership roles. He completed his secondary education in Dumaguete and pre-medical studies and medical school at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila. In 1957, he traveled to New York for a medical internship at the Arnot Ogden Memorial Hospital in Elmira, followed by a surgical internship at Highland Hospital in Rochester, and then completed a medical residency in general surgery at the University of Rochester. He met Alice (nee Bump), a surgical nurse and instructor, during his internship. They married on May 2, 1959, at St. Catherine Church in Addison, NY. Their two daughters were born during his residency.

Upon completing residency, Dr. John returned to the Philippines with his young family to serve as the inaugural director of Holy Child, a Catholic hospital in Dumaguete. In 1965, they returned to the United States and moved to St. Joseph, where Dr. John and Alice worked at the former Sisters Hospital. Four years later, the family settled in Savannah. After practicing for nearly two decades in Savannah, he focused solely on general surgery when he joined the practice of Dr. Edward Beheler in St. Joseph for a brief period of time before retiring from general surgery due to health reasons. He then served patients at several MedClinic sites and continued to provide care at the Savannah clinic upon it becoming a Northwest Health Services site.

A few years after arriving in Savannah, Dr. John was named a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and then the International College of Surgeons. He was a member of the Missouri Chapter of the American College of Surgeons, Missouri State Surgical Society, Kansas City Surgical Society, and the Buchanan County Medical Society. Throughout his career, he was recognized for his dedication to patient care by several community groups and was recognized by the American Medical Association for achieving 50 years in medical practice. Upon retirement, he received the Samuel U. Rodgers Achievement Award from the Missouri Primary Care Association in recognition of his commitment to expanding access to health services for Missouri’s medically underserved.

During their 50 plus years together, Dr. John and Alice remained devoted to their Catholic faith and were active members of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Savannah. Both were recipients of the Rose Award for their years of service to St. Rose. In addition, John was a fourth-degree member of the Henry Bruns Council #6244 Knights of Columbus. Both were avid football fans with wonderful memories of attending Savannah High School, William Jewell College, University of Missouri, University of Notre Dame, and Kansas City Chiefs games. Later in life, their greatest passion was spending time with their great-grandchildren.

Following retirement, Dr. John traveled to and from the Philippines several times, allowing for sightseeing opportunities throughout the islands along with trips to Hong Kong and Singapore. He also enjoyed spending his most recent winters in Summerville, SC, where he quickly became a well-loved member of the Carillon at the Ponds community.

Dr. John was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, an infant son, and his wife. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Mellie and Joseph Pouwels of Middleton and Bibi and Randy Miller of St. Joseph, and by granddaughter Chana Pouwels Roschyk, her spouse Jeremy, and three great grandchildren, Anaya, Creed, and Kale Locke of Granger, IN.

Dr. John’s family would like to share their appreciation for the care he received prior to his passing. During his decline, he received care from several medical professionals affiliated with University of Wisconsin Health, Medical University of South Carolina, UnityPoint Health-Meriter Wellness Center, Caring Made Easy Home Care, and Agrace Hospice Care.

Christian Edward "Buddy" Husing was born May 23, 1944, in Hamburg, Iowa. He was the first-born child of Christian Oscar "Bud" Husing and Kay (Harbin) Husing. Buddy came into the world while Bud was away fighting in World War II, and it wasn’t until Buddy was about a year old that Bud got to meet him.

Buddy grew up in Rock Port where he attended and graduated school. After graduation, Buddy worked with his dad at Bud and Buddy Husing Texaco station.

Buddy was united in marriage to Diana Bradley in 1963. To this union Angela Gail and Travis Hays were born. They later divorced. In 1982, Buddy was remarried to Sharon Peterson. They eventually divorced.

Through life experiences, Buddy discovered his talent and passion for carpentry. In 1982, he established Chris Construction where he devoted over 30 years to building and remodeling for people in the Atchison County area. Buddy was highly skilled in the trade, and people often sought his craftsmanship and advice.

In 1999, Buddy married Pam (Trivelpiece) Corken. With this marriage he gained three stepchildren, Trent, Erica, and Kaitlea Corken. After hanging up his tool belt, Buddy began working for Do It Best Hardware where he shared his knowledge with customers, and stories with anyone who would listen.

When Buddy didn’t have a hammer in his hand, he enjoyed fishing, attending car races and airshows, flying model airplanes, scratching scratch tickets, and spending time with his family. Buddy’s generous and kind heart couldn’t look past someone in need. He could often be found helping those in need, never expecting anything in return. Buddy never knew a stranger and had a passion for telling long stories.

Buddy was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Angela, and father-in-law Charles Trivelpiece.

Paula Sue (Maycroft) Andrews, 43 years old, of Atchison, Kansas, died unexpectedly on September 6, 2023, at her home.&nbsp;

Services to celebrate Paula’s life will be Sunday, September 10, 2023, at 3:00 pm at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with Pastor George Baugh officiating. Visitation with the family will begin at 2 pm on Sunday before the service. &nbsp;

Paula was born on October 12, 1979, in Atchison, Kansas, the daughter of Paul R. Maycroft and Susan (Guatney) Maycroft. She attended elementary schools in Atchison and graduated from Santa Fe Trail High School. She attended Kansas University for a year studying business and psychology.&nbsp;

Her favorite part of life was being a mom to her boy. She enjoyed doing crafts, she loved owls and elephants and spending time with her nieces and nephews; she actually enjoyed all children. She was a people person and will be always remembered for her kind hearted nature.&nbsp;

She is survived by her husband, Robert “Bob” Allen Andrews, Jr., who she married on May 21, 2016, at the Rushville Christian Church. Her pride and joy is her only son, Adam Ray Martinez. Additionally, she is survived by her mother, Susan (Joseph, Jr.) McCoole; sisters, Stephanie Maycroft (Daniel Barkus), Brandi McCoole (Victor Brewer), Megan (David) Rapson; an aunt, Mary Trower; and step siblings, Toby Kerley, Tommy Kerley and Gina Brown.&nbsp;

Her father, Paul Maycroft, preceded her in death.

Paul Dean Shisler, 88, Stanberry, MO passed away Monday, September 4, 2023 at an Albany, MO hospital.

He was born April 1, 1935 in Stanberry, MO the son of Harland “Dutch” and Marcella (Grantham) Shisler

Paul Dean graduated from Stanberry High School in 1953 and married Beverly June Stuart September 18, 1955. Beverly preceded him in death in 1988. A daughter Paula Elaine, and two sons, Paul Kevin and Bruce Lynn were born to this union.

On May 18, 1991 he married Ferne Smith and gained a step-daughter, Rhonda.

He began his farming career in the Grantham Community with his uncles, Roy and Everett Grantham. His whole life was spent working the land and raising livestock with his sons and later his grandsons, Clay and Steve Shisler. His hobby was work and for relaxation he found more work.

When he got away from the farm he enjoyed car races, machinery auctions, Branson and country music shows.

He leaves behind his wife, Ferne. His step-daughter Rhonda (Steve) Ford, Mt. Pleasant, IA;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; step-grandson Lance (Brandi) Cox; step great-grandsons, Cameron and Logan Cox, Hallsville, MO; daughter Paula (Mike) Sager, Stanberry, MO;&nbsp; their children and grandchildren, Emily (Chad) McGlamery, Cole and Brooks, Tucson, AZ; Carrie (Jason) Bubke, Khloe, Sawyer, and Bristol, Smithville, MO; Stuart (Megan) Sager, Sophia, Sadie, and Tate, Stanberry, MO; son Paul Kevin (Susan) Shisler, Albany, MO; their children and grandchildren, Vince Shisler, Kansas City, MO; Abby (Clinton) Nielson, Leah and Avery, Madisonville, LA; Steve (Ashley) Shisler, Kate, Owen, and Nora, Stanberry, MO; son Bruce (Becky) Shisler, Stanberry, MO; their children and grandchildren, Clay (Valerie) Shisler, Avah, Wyatt, and Lena, Albany, MO; Megan (Brian) McClure, Hudson and Everly, Olathe, KS; sister, Margaret Ann Cooper, Stanberry, MO.

Shirley J. Murphy, 81, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, September 2, 2023.

She was born in St. Joseph, Missouri on September 22, 1941, to John L. and Marie (Lollar) Murphy.

Shirley earned her master’s degree and went on to teach in the St. Joseph School District for over 20 years. She taught at Benton High School, Lafayette High School and Hillyard Technical. After retirement, she participated in adult literacy and adult education programs.
