Peggy L. (Sipes) Whipple, 91, entered Heavens Gates on November 23, 2023 following a brief stay at The Woodlands Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Texas.
Born April 15, 1932 and raised in Oregon, Missouri, she was the daughter of Frank and Lulu (Huiatt) Sipes. Peggy was a committed Christian and active in the Southern Baptist Church, and a loving wife and mother.
As a young lady Peggy worked in the Oregon telephone office with her mother. Peggy then taught multiple grades in a country one-room school. After caring for a student with epilepsy she became interested in in nursing. She graduated in 1955 from Missouri Methodist Hospital in St Joseph as a Registered Nurse. After a meaningful career she retired as a head nurse in surgery at Methodist Hospital in Lubbock, Texas.
On April 30, 1955 Peggy married Robert H. "Bob" Whipple of Forest City. Bob preceded her into eternity and promised to “meet her at Heaven’s Gates and carry her in.” Also preceding her in death were her brother Jerry Sipes, and her sister Marianne Anderson.
She is survived by their three children, Judy (Mark) Reynolds, and twins Tom (Mary) Whipple, and Tim (JoAnne) Whipple; six grandchildren, Joe Reynolds, Chris (Davida) Reynolds, Jennifer Whipple, Kirk Whipple, Kylee Whipple, and Ryan Whipple; two great grandchildren, Autumn Reynolds and Benjamin Reynolds; and her brother, Dr. Larry (Nancy) Sipes.
Services: Friday, December 1, 2023, 2:00 pm, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Oregon, Missouri. Family will greet friends one hour prior to services. Interment: Maple Grove Cemetery, Oregon.
