Maria Elena Stone 82, of St. Joseph, MO passed away Monday, November 27, 2023 in a St. Joseph, MO. health care center. She was born November 21, 1941 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of the late Antiona and Guadalupe Castanada. She graduated from Convent of the Sacred Heart high school. Maria married Joe Stone on November 29, 1961 and he survives of the home. She worked at H.D.Lee and the Sisters Hospital and was a homemaker. She enjoyed playing bingo, slot machines, dog racing, and spending time with family. Maria was a member of the St. James Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, great-grandson, Herschel Snethen, brothers, Pascual Jaramillo, Mike Jaramillo, Nick Carillo, Conda Carillo, and sister, Sally Kuschel. Survivors include husband Joe Stone of the home, daughter, Becky (Dennis) Snethen, son, J.C (Amy) Stone, all of St. Joseph, MO., grandchildren, Heather Snethen, and Minerva "Trent" Snethen, step grandchildren: Christopher, Joshua, and Brooke, great grandchildren, Cree, & Zeelan, step great grandchildren, Kayden, Jordan & Kinsley, brother, John (Arlene) Castanada, and sister, Belen Mejia of St. Joseph, MO.
The Rosary will be recited at 5:00 pm Wednesday with the family receiving friends from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Rupp Funeral Home.
