Richard Arnold Harris, 76, of Mound City, Missouri, passed away peacefully at an Oregon, Missouri nursing home with loved ones by his side on Tuesday, November 28, 2023.
Richard was born at home in Mound City on February 25, 1947, the son of Ruth Ellen Travis and George Sillars Harris.
Throughout life he was affectionately known as "Old Soldier." He proudly served in the Nebraska National Guard for 13 years.
He had an exemplary work ethic. Richard was loving and caring to all that had the pleasure of knowing him.
Richard was preceded in death by his father; his mother, Ruth Littler; and his brother-in-law, Dan Johnson.
Survivors include his sister and caretaker, Debra Johnson of Mound City; brothers, David Turvey and James (Caron) Harris of Groton, Connecticut; niece, Dusti (Jeff) Franz; nephew, James (Diane) Harris, Jr. of Stonington, Connecticut; along with many cousins and his beloved dog, Lacy.
The family would like to express their gratitude to all his doctors, hospice workers, and caregivers.
Services: Saturday, December 2, 2023, 2:00 pm, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Mound City, MO. Family will greet friends beginning at 1:00 pm. Interment: Mount Hope Cemetery, Mound City.
