Born September 25th, 1951, Kathy passed away peacefully at her home on Table Rock Lake in Branson West, Missouri, at the age of 72.

Survived by her loving husband of 50+ years, Lyndal Gerald Vessar Jr; her adoring children Patricia Vessar, Donald Vessar and wife Joani, Jennifer Johnson and husband Michael, Audalyn Vessar, Gerrett Vessar and wife Jenn; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; her beloved siblings Nancy Schuler and husband Terry, Ted White and wife Joann, brother-in-law Gayle Vessar and wife Juanita; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents James Otis White and Audrey Evalyn White (Chaney), in-laws Lyndal G. Vessar Sr and Marie Anna Vessar (Huber), brothers Bill White and Tim White, sisters Carol Ragland and Geraldine McClarty, niece Shelley Long, and nephew James White.

Kathy grew up in Kansas, attending Elwood Schools, graduating Salutatorian in 1969. She attended Highland Community College and Missouri Western State College obtaining her Bachelors in Physical Education with a minor in Art Education. She was proud to have received one of the last issued lifetime teaching certificates. As an Army wife, Kathy was an excellent mother, always involved in her children’s activities, including being a scouts leader, coaching sports, volunteering as a room mother, and even taking on newspaper routes when her kids just couldn’t. Although raising three girls and two boys may have had its ups and downs, her husband and family claim she was an amazing homemaker and wife! &nbsp;

Over the years, Kathy also worked as an audiologist for Northern Iowa Area Education Agency, a teacher for a childcare center and local schools, and a team member in retail stores, Montgomery Wards and Target. After her husband retired from ConAgra Foods, they embarked on an entrepreneurial adventure together, owning and operating Shore Acres Resort on Table Rock Lake, where she rocked the role as hostess while making many good friends over the fourteen years.

Kathy was known for fiercely loving her family, telling it like it is, being the keeper of all the family birthdates, anniversaries, and favorite recipes, laughing until hyperventilating, and having enormous pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. On road trips when her kids were younger, she mastered the art of assembling bologna sandwiches on her legs while also refereeing all the way to the back of the station wagon. &nbsp;Throughout travels with her husband, Kathy enjoyed being the copilot serving as a professional map folder, official deer patrol (especially on DD highway), and the model in any photo opportunities. &nbsp;Outdoors, she enjoyed planting and caring for her many flower beds and pots, observing hummingbirds fighting over the sweet nectar in her feeders, and making friends with squirrels, feeding them oatmeal cookies by hand on the deck. Kathy’s hobbies included hunting for Hot Wheels to add to her enormous collection, purchasing the series or latest of Hallmark ornaments she loved, and caring for her Barbie and porcelain doll collections. &nbsp;She also curated an array of scrapbooks that the family will continue to enjoy. &nbsp;

Kathy will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.

Kathryn Ines Hill, 91, Rock Port, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2024.

She was born February 25, 1933, to Allie (Maness) and Delmar Thompson in Watson, Missouri.

Kathryn and Clifford “Bud” Hill were married for 40 wonderful years together until his passing on June 7, 1990. They had two children, Clifford Vernon Hill and Teresa Lorine Vette.

Kathryn and Bud ran Hill’s Top Kick service station, where she also managed the restaurant. In later years she worked at Trails End truck stop. Beyond her work, Kathryn loved to crochet, play card games, and spent much of her time enjoying the company of her dear friends and family, especially her beloved grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; both of her children; and her brother, Richard Vernon Thompson.

Kathryn is survived by her grandchildren Tony Hill, Trina Doiel, Becky Gadberry and David Vette; great-grandchildren Ashleigh&nbsp; McGee, Zach and Jessica Hill; Mathew, Ethan, and Khloe Doiel; Jaxson and Charles Gadberry; and Maven Vette; and great-great-grandchildren Zander and Azure McGee.

Ruthann Rhoad, 86, of King City, MO passed away September 18, 2024 in North Kansas City, MO.

Ruthann (Rainey) Rhoad was born March 10, 1938, to Wayne and Ruth (Frederick) Rainey at the King City home of her grandparents, George and Mattie Frederick.

She attended East Shepherd country grade school and graduated from King City High School in 1955.

On November 30, 1957, she married Everett Rhoad at the home of her parents east of King City with family and friends attending. They made their home for two years in St Joseph where both were employed before returning to King City for their remaining years.

Ruthann was a Christian woman and was a long-time member of the First Christian Church although she attended Hammer Memorial United Methodist Church serving as the treasurer for the Sunday School for many years.

Actively involved in the lives of her children, she served as a 4-H project leader for 25 years, baked thousands of items for bake sales and fundraisers and attended more concerts, ball games and track meets than you can count.

Ever the social butterfly, when she chose to go to work, she was always around people. First as a waitress in the café at the Stanberry Sale Barn and then in the King City R-1 School cafeteria until she retired 15 years later.

She was active on the King City Historical Museum board and made hundreds of pies for Living History Day.

She was a member of the Four Corners Saddle Club and the square-dancing group in the early 70s, Ruth’s Circle at church and the Lamplighters Club for almost 65 years.

Ruthann loved to travel and camp. Some of her favorite memories are from family vacations and multi-family camping adventures across the country. Their trip to the Holy Land, eating too many fresh Bing cherries in Montana, looking down from the St. Louis arch only to see the car lights were left on.

She loved playing cards and board games. She spent many an afternoon at the King City Senior Center playing hand and foot and enjoyed playing in pitch tournaments. Her and Everett hosted a foreign exchange student from Germany and that’s when Settlers of Catan became her favorite board game.

To say she had a sweet tooth is an enormous understatement. She would add sugar to everything including fresh fruit, tomatoes, you name it. She loved sour cream raisin pie, homemade cinnamon rolls with lots of goo and jelly donuts, actually, any kind of donut.

She cherished boat rides on the lake, playing the piano when no one was around and spending time with her family and friends.

Ruthann was preceded in death by her husband, Everett, on April 9th of this year, her parents and twin grandchildren, Theresa Mariah and Fredrick Malachi Rhoad.

Surviving are her three children, Kimberly Ann (Larry) Gonzalez, Scott Eric (Emily) Rhoad and Jill Diane (Chris) Rhoad-Cook, five grandchildren, Hannah (Kevin) Sartin, Elijah Rhoad, Rebekah Rhoad, Michaela and Jackson Rhoad-Cook, and four great-grandchildren, Noah, Sarah, Isaac and Isaiah Sartin. In addition, she is survived by her brother, Roger (Marilyn) Rainey and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 28 at the Hammer Memorial United Methodist Church, King City, MO under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, King City, MO. Burial will follow in King City Cemetery, King City, MO. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the church.

Sharon Kay Maynard Royle, 79, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2024, the evening of the harvest moon.

She was born February 9, 1945, in St. Paul, Minnesota to Col. Stanley Getchel Maynard, Sr. and Mary Louise Jacoby Maynard.

She received a degree in English literature at the University of Missouri. While attending school, she worked as a nurse’s aide which ignited an interest in the field of nursing. She then studied nursing at St. Joseph Sisters’ Hospital, became a registered nurse, and committed her life to working as a nurse for nearly 40 years until her retirement.

She was a caring person and would always go out of her way to help. Sharon was passionate about cats, birds, and all forms of wildlife.

She enjoyed birdwatching, reading, had an interest in gemstones. Sharon was fond of sharing stories with friends and neighbors. She loved food cuisines from all over the world.

Sharon was a unique personality and always true to herself.

She was preceded in death by her father, mother, brother, Stanley G. Maynard, Jr. and younger sister, Elizabeth M. Maynard.

Her survivors include her sister, Zora Maynard; nephew, Vonn A. Walter; niece, Chloe D. Maynard; great-nephew, Stanley V. Maynard; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was born March 12, 1942, to Voylet and Chastine McGaughey in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Sharon enjoyed spending time with her family, especially watching her granddaughters grow. She was a dedicated Kansas City Chiefs fan and an avid bingo player, always finding joy in the simple pleasures of life.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Frank E. “Bud” Welter; her second husband, Orville L. Miller; her parents; her sister, Barbara Cahill; and 3 stepsons, Pat, Kenneth and Don Miller.

Survivors include her daughters, Lisa (Sam) Williams and Vicki (Jim) Ricklefs; 2 stepsons, Kevin and Richard Miller; granddaughters, Kylie Barmann (Caleb) and Lexi Stegall (Shane).

Jane McFarland (Davis) Copsey was born on January 23, 1932 in Huntington Beach, West Virginia to parents Clifford Thompson Davis and Katherine Jane (Kump) Davis. Jane graduated from Sullivan High School in Missouri, and later Drury College with a degree in political science. While attending Drury College she met Evan Copsey.

On January 29, 1955 she married Evan Reese Copsey II in Sullivan, and they&nbsp; became parents of three children. Jane and Evan owned the Fidelity, Holway, and KLM Telephone companies for many years.

Evan passed away on November 14, 2022. Jane passed away on September 19, 2024 at a Mound City, Missouri care center at the age of 92.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and by a brother, John T. Davis.

Survivors include their children, Evan Reese (Tresa) Copsey III of Rich Hill, Missouri, Bruce (Paula) Copsey of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, and Jennifer (Darren) Newbanks of Sullivan; eight grandchildren, Sarah and Samantha Newbanks, Steve and Kyle (Devon) Copsey, Karen (Richard) Kithcart, Amanda Long, James Latzel, and Brian Copsey; eight great grandchildren, Logan, Halie, Ethan, Eric, Zack, David, Evan, and Finley; and nieces and nephews.

Stephen E. Godfrey, 75, of Bendena, Kansas passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at the Amberwell Hospital in Atchison, Kansas.

Stephen was born on August 12,1949 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Perle and Norma (Holzhey) Godfrey. He served in U.S. Navy, worked as a handyman and lived most of his life in the Bendena area.

Stephen was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dan Godfrey of Cottonwood Falls, Kansas

Survivors include 2 brothers, Gary Godfrey of Bendena. Ron Godfrey of Atchison, Kansas, Sister, Connie Brackey of Topeka, Kansas. Nieces and nephews

Teresa K. Anderson, 69 of St. Joseph, MO went to be with her Savior on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at Living Community in St. Joseph. Teresa was born in Jameson, MO on September 4, 1955 to Dale &amp; Frances (Richards) Alexander. She was married to Mike Anderson in St. Joseph on April 29th, 1991 and he preceded her in death.&nbsp;

Teresa was a loving and generous soul. Her passion for nursing goes back as far as 5th grade when she knew she was called to be a nurse. She is survived by daughters, Jo Ann (Darren) Myers, and Pamela (Tony) Hoffman, brother, Steven (Betty) Allen, sister, Donna (Keith) Herbst, six grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Timothy Dean Nelson, Sr., 64, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, September 16, 2024.

He was born September 26, 1959 in St. Joseph to Jerry and Jean (Christie) Nelson.

Timothy, known as “Bird Dog” to his high school friends, married Kelly McDonell on September 15, 1978. They later divorced but remained friends. Timothy married Joanne Doolan on April 25, 2006.

He was a mechanic most of his life, loved working on automobiles of all makes and models, working on his own and at various auto parts stores throughout the years. He just loved being around anything having to do with cars and trucks, and loved talking shop with like-minded individuals.

Timothy loved fishing trips to Minnesota with his Grandparents, Helen and Walter, during his youth. He also enjoyed working on cars and loved spending time with his kids, grandkids and pets. Movie watching was also a favorite of his!

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry Nelson and Jean Grimes; his stepfather, Harold Grimes, Sr.; his Grandparents, Walter and Helen Christie; and his brother, Harold Grimes, Jr.

Survivors include his first wife Kelly Metcalf and their children, Timothy D. Stanley Bruce Tietjens, aged 78 of rural Robinson, KS, peacefully passed away on September 17, 2024, after a long battle with cancer. Born on August 15, 1946, Stanley was known for his hardworking and generous nature. He took pride in always leaving things better than he found them.

A lifelong farmer in Brown County, Stanley dedicated 37 years to the Robinson Fire Department and with his brother Dennis, was renowned for their years of soil conservation work. Countless miles of drainage tile and dirt work have improved agriculture in the area thanks to their hard work. He loved nature, trees, and watching things grow. With his wife Sharon, he enjoyed traveling the country. Some of his favorite trips were to New York City where they enjoyed “people watching.” He always put needs of others ahead of his own, never complaining.&nbsp;

Stanley is survived by his wife, Sharon; stepdaughters, Kelli Holthaus and her husband Roger, and Misty Collins and her husband Matthew; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brothers, Dennis Tietjens and his wife Wanda, and Terry Tietjens, Clint Tietjens; nephew, Matt Tietjens and his wife Roni, their boys Luke and Will; a niece, Patricia English, her husband Hank, their son Jack. 

He was preceded in death by his brother Jerry Tietjens and parents, William and Estella Tietjens.

A private family service will be held to honor Stanley's life at Rose Hill Cemetery, Robinson.

Dale Fryman, 69, passed away September 14, 2024. Dale was born July 11, 1955 to Hershel and Virginia Fryman. 

He graduated from Leavenworth&nbsp;High School in 1974 and enlisted in the US Army in 1976, where he served in several duty&nbsp;stations until 1982. He married Elizabeth VanDruff on June 7, 1985. In 2021, Dale retired from&nbsp;the Leavenworth County Road District after 20 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother David, grandsons Maverick and Jacob&nbsp;Simpson, and Elizabeth's parents Grover and Betty Vandruff. 

He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Fryman of the home, his children Donald (Rebecca)&nbsp;Richeson of Excelsior Springs MO, Charles Richeson of Topeka KS, Brenda (Scott) Simpson of&nbsp;Leavenworth KS, and Theigha Cooperider-Fryman of Boring OR., 8 grandchildren and 8 great-&nbsp;grandchildren. Also surviving are siblings Lawrence Jr., Thomas, Larry and Lisa Wright, all of&nbsp;Leavenworth.

It is with deep sorrow that that we announce the passing of Pam Laboi, a beloved mother, sister, daughter, aunt, and cherished friend to many, who left us on 9/16/24 at the age of 70.

Born to Mary Lou and John Edward Lottman, she was devoted to her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Jeffrey Laboi, her loving father, John Edward Lottman, and her cherished nephew, Ryan Hoover whose memories she held close to her heart. Each loss weighed heavily on her heart, yet she continued to fill the world around her with support and courage.

An avid lover of antiques and crafts, Pam was known for her exquisite taste and knack for finding beauty in things of the past. Her home was filled with the pieces she collected, just as her life was filled with the stories of the people she loved.

Pam is survived by her loving daughter Jaclyn Laboi of Smithville, who brought her immense joy. She also leaves behind her dedicated mother, Mary Lou Lottman of Raytown, and her devoted sister, Linda Hoover (Rick) of Belton, who was not just family but also her closest companion. Pam’s legacy will continue through her family and many cousins as well as a multitude of cherished friends, all of whom were touched by her kindness. A private inurnment will be held at a date to be announced, allowing family and close friends to celebrate a life well-lived.

Gwenevera Arlene Wilkinson Massey, 90, passed away Sunday morning, September 15, 2024, in St. Joseph, surrounded by her family. A St. Joseph native, she attended Bartlett High School in St. Joseph. After getting married, she worked in factories and later did housework while raising her family. &nbsp;Supporting her children and grandchildren in school and activities was something she loved doing. She loved telling hilarious stories about her family and was dedicated to them. Ms. Massey was a lifelong member of Emmanuel Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Gwenevera Arlene Wilkinson Massey 1934 - 2024

William Bingo Dickerson was born on September 11, 1955, in Leavenworth, Kansas, to James and Wanda Dickerson. Being born on his mother’s birthday, it was always known that his birth was indeed a gift not only to his mother, but to everyone who met him.

 Bingo graduated from Leavenworth Senior High School, and although he lived in other cities, he spent most of his life in Leavenworth, close to his parents, siblings, children, relatives, and friends. Bingo attended Kansas City Community College to be a funeral director, but if you know Bingo, you know that his true passion was being behind a camera, capturing memories of beloved family and friends. Heaven forbid that he miss a moment, so he captured thousands of photos and hours of footage from family gatherings, Sunday services, initial sermons of new ministers, and wedding ceremonies. 

To ensure he never missed a beat, he would often put his children, Sammie and William, behind the camera in his absence. It wasn’t just his camera work that distinguished him in a crowd. Bingo was a lifelong member of Sunflower Missionary Baptist Church in Leavenworth, Kansas, and it was his dedication to God that made him most notable. All over the great state of Kansas, Bingo was known by almost every Baptist congregation. He attended numerous state and national Baptist conventions. He also loved attending Wednesday morning bible study at Independent Baptist Church, with his young grandchildren in tow. Bingo also loved his Wednesday studies with his Sister-in-law Stephanie. 

Not only did people know him as a beloved friend and relative, but they also knew him as their usher. With a great big smile and maybe a joke, he LOVED directing you to your pew in the sanctuary. His faith in God was always a priority, and he ensured that this faith was instilled in his children as he raised them as a single parent. For many years he was a very active member of the Optimist club. He also served as the president of both the Sunflower and the Northeastern District usher board. For the last two years he was also the Northeastern District Layman President. 

There is no shortage of stories to be told about Bingo Dickerson, but no matter the story, it likely involves him holding a camera, eating, cracking a joke, or playing with kids. Most stories of Bingo include all the above. Speaking of children, Bingo loved kids dearly and in his later years in life, he was often seen with his grandkids and generations of his nieces and nephews. Much like his mother, he could be seen out and about with a van full of kids, as the unofficial director of “BINGO’S DAYCARE.“ &nbsp;&nbsp;Bingo lived a full life, smiling and laughing through most of it, showing off that gold tooth. Bingo was a cherished son, brother, father, uncle, grandfather, and Friend. 

On September 12, 2024, Bingo took his last breath, one day after spending his 69th birthday as a Patient at Overland Park Regional Hospital. He was preceded in death by his father, James Dickerson Sr., his mother, Wanda Mae Dickerson, his brother, Durand Dickerson, (Stephanie) and his grandson, Elijah Smith. He is survived by his siblings, James (Deborah), Ronnie, Ricky (Serena), Bobby, Patricia, Saluda, Leroy, Carmelnita (Randall) and Laurice, his children, Tevis Smith (Monique), William Jr., Sammie, and Chalonne Faleke (Moses), his grandchildren, Kashawn, Dhani, Jaiden, Brexton, Brienna, Malachi, Malaysia, Malcolm, Mariana, Zohar, and Miryam.

Funeral Service for William Bingo Dickerson will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday September 21, 2024 at the Dr. Hyman L. Jarrett Sr. Fellowship Hall, 1708 5th Avenue, Leavenworth, Kansas, 66048, the family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the fellowship hall.&nbsp;

William Bingo Dickerson 1955 - 2024

David Groenke, 83, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, September 16, 2024.

He was born December 3, 1940 in St. Joseph to Lloyd and Inez (Hamm) Groenke. He was a graduate of Lafayette High School in 1958.

David married his high school sweetheart Helen Grant on December 16, 1961. She survives of the home.

After receiving training in sheet metal work, he was a sheet metal worker for over 40 years. He worked for many companies, spending most of his time at Seaman &amp; Schuske.

David enjoyed playing softball in his younger years, and golf for his whole life. He also was known to walk about 10 miles a day. He loved his sports teams: the Dolphins, Cardinals, Royals and Chiefs.

He liked to get together with his friends, who called him “Wooden Head!” There’s even a song about it. He was the center of attention wherever he went. David was a frequent patron of the Hi-Ho, where he would enjoy his good buddies, occasional game of pitch and brewski.

Most of all, David cherished his family and loved to spend time with them.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dwayne “Dink” Groenke; and nephew, Dave “Middle Dave” Groenke.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Helen; children, Debbie Groenke and David Lee Groenke, Jr.; grandchildren, Heather Elliott (Brett) and Indi Groenke; sister, Sharlene Stout; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his beloved dog, Dolly.

Betty Lou Wilson, 85, St. Joseph, Missouri, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on September 16, 2024. She was born on July 4, 1939, in Clinton County, Missouri, Betty was a true firecracker who brought light and love into the lives she touched.

She married Gordon W. Wilson, Sr., on October 22, 1955, who survives her at the home they shared for 66 years.

She is survived by her children, Gordon Wilson, Jr. and Barbara Smith; grandchildren, Jeannie Knowles and Melissa Carstensen; and numerous great-grandchildren through great-great-great-grandchildren: Josh Smith, Shauna Smith, Richard Saunders, Kaitlyn Saunders, Kaleigh Saunders, Drake Stevenson, Trenton Marschel, Kyle Knowles, Brandon Knowles, Ryan Wilson, Brandon Wilson, Julie Robison, Hayden Wilson, Braxon Wilson, Brittany Wilson, Addalyn Robison, Brayden Larabee, Paisley Knowles, Lincoln Saunders, and Emberley Saunders.

Betty dedicated 24 years of service to the Stetson Hat Company. She continued to share her nurturing care by helping to raise her grandchildren, a role she cherished deeply. Betty's generous heart also extended to her community involvement; she was an active volunteer at Youth Alliance, where she touched many lives.

She had a love for animals that was as boundless as her heart. An avid card player, she also enjoyed collecting angel figurines and spending quality time with her wide circle of grandchildren. Known for her feisty nature, Betty was a woman with a dynamic spirit, quick to laugh and always ready to lend a hand or an ear.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, William and Nannie Gilmore; stepfather, Ivan Clark; sister, Mary Herod; brother, Billie Gilmore; half-brothers, Clayton and Mervin Gilmore; grandson, Michael Wilson; and a great-great-grandchild, Carter Smith.

Betty Lou Wilson 1939 - 2024

Marilyn Kay Vickery, 78, of Topeka, Kansas, formerly of Hiawatha, Kansas, passed unexpectedly due to a medical issue in the early morning of September 11, 2024. She was surrounded by her loving, devoted husband, and her four daughters and only son. &nbsp;

Marilyn was born September 28, 1945 in Hiawatha, Kansas to Ivan and Clara Hoar of Hiawatha, Kansas. Marilyn was a proud graduate of Hiawatha High School, Class of 1963. She was beloved by all and was nominated for Sweetheart Princess in high school. She was very engaged with the school reunions over the years. Marilyn also attended Highland Junior College in the fall of 1963, where she studied business.&nbsp;

While at Highland Junior College she met the love of her life, Roger Allen Vickery. They were married on June 5, 1965 in Hiawatha, Kansas. Shortly after, they moved to Topeka, Kansas, dodging the ominous tornado of 1966 that took their home and car. Marilyn and Roger set their roots in Topeka just the same, while Roger earned his Bachelor’s degree from Washburn University and later gained his Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist degree at P.A. School of Anesthesia. &nbsp;

Marilyn was all about family and found her passion serving her husband and children through family celebrations, home-baked favorites, and her warm and thoughtfully decorated home and colorful outdoor gardens. Marilyn enhanced her love of nature by arranging flowers in Porterfield’s Flower and Gift Studio and Dillon’s Flower Shop, all while raising their children together with Roger. When her kids were older, she found joy working with brides and families at Livingston’s Bridal.&nbsp;

In 1971, Marilyn and Roger moved to southeast Topeka and later built their dream home. Their home has become a beloved place for their many family celebrations, special cats (who often found her), pool parties and gatherings.&nbsp;

Marilyn was especially interested in her family’s Norwegian roots and she spent time gathering and documenting precious stories and unforgettable family legacy recipes. She strove to be present, positive and gracious to neighbors and to model her faith to everyone's lives she touched.&nbsp;

Marilyn was immersed in the lives of her three sisters and mother, and together they sought to reunite with her eldest daughter, Lori Ann Preston in 1986, uniting all of Marilyn’s five children. Her greatest hope was to see them grow, develop and deepen relationships with their families, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Undoubtedly, her most treasured joy was her eleven grandchildren and two great- grandchildren who fondly call her "Grammy.” &nbsp;

Marilyn was a model example of strength, tenacity and humility with unwavering faith in God and an exceedingly generous heart. She would bring lightheartedness with her warm hugs, natural smile and quick wit. She was the ultimate party planner and made every event and celebration special. She was a kind, loving, loyal wife, mother, sister, daughter, niece, grandmother and friend. She was filled with style, grace, love and unending service to her family, lifelong friends and her community.&nbsp;

Marilyn is survived by her husband of fifty-nine years, Roger Vickery; children, Lori Preston of Boulder, Colorado, Michelle Graff and her husband Stephen Graff of Topeka, Kansas, Melissa Rangel and her husband Marty Rangel of Lawrence, Kansas, daughter, Mandy Vickery of Topeka, Kansas, and son Ryan Vickery and his wife Lindsey (George) Vickery of Fairway, Kansas; grandchildren, Jordan , Noah, Riley and Emma Graff; Casey, Jeremy and Jayden Rangel; Emersyn, Clara and Carter Vickery, and Alexander Preston; great-grandchildren, Brexley and Colt; sister, Sandi Muhonen of Arizona, favorite 99-year-old aunt, June Cox of Belleville, Illinois, and many dearly loved cousins, nieces, and nephews. &nbsp;

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ivan and Clara Hoar, her sister Janice Busey, brother-in-law, Rodney Busey, sister, Jeanette Hugelman and niece, Traci DuPont.&nbsp;

A celebration of Marilyn’s life will be at Highland Heights Christian Church in Tecumseh, Kansas, on September 20, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon immediately following. Marilyn Kay Vickery 1945 - 2024

Thomas Nelson Moser was born on October 2, 1957 near Fortescue, Missouri. He was the son of Thomas N. and Grace M. (Steele) Moser.

Tom spent his early years living near Fortescue and later in the Kansas City area.&nbsp;He graduated from Craig High School in Craig, Missouri

Tom worked for a farmer early in his life. For the majority of his working life he was a truck driver. Tom&nbsp;retired when he was 62.

Tom passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at a hospital in Overland Park, Kansas at the age of 66.

He was preceded in death by both his parents and infant brother, Charles.

Survivors include his siblings and their spouses, Virginia Moser and Kevin Nolte, Falls City, Nebraska, Tammy and David Stroud, Mound City, Missouri, Bobbi and Brad Burton, Shawnee, Kansas, Jonathan Moser, Lenexa, Kansas, and Tom's daughter Lisa Moser, Independence, Missouri.

Tom enjoyed fishing, gardening, and watching the Kansas City Chiefs.

Tom&nbsp;retired when he was 62.Tom passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at a hospital in Overland Park, Kansas at the age of 66.He was preceded in death by both his parents and infant brother, Charles.Survivors include his siblings and their spouses, Virginia Moser and Kevin Nolte, Falls City, Nebraska, Tammy and David Stroud, Mound City, Missouri, Bobbi and Brad Burton, Shawnee, Kansas, Jonathan Moser, Lenexa, Kansas, and Tom's daughter Lisa Moser, Independence, Missouri.Tom enjoyed fishing, gardening, and watching the Kansas City Chiefs.Services: Saturday, September 21, 2024, 11:00 am, Forest City Cemetery, Forest City, Missouri.<figure>

David Edward Duncan, 87, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away on September 12, 2024, at a local nursing home.

David Edward Duncan, 87, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away on September 12, 2024, at a local nursing home.He was born December 22, 1936 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Donald and Margaruite (Zimmerman) Duncan. David married Rosanna Smith on February 26, 1961. He was a 1954 graduate of Lafayette High School and served in the United Sates Navy. David retired from the United States Postal service in 1992 after 25 years of service.David had a passion for playing and coaching baseball, softball and golf. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he was the coach of their church league softball team for 10 years. David took great pride in playing with all three sons on the team together.He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.Survivors include sons, Douglas Duncan (Rhonda), Robert Duncan (Sandra), Scott Duncan (Christine); grandchildren, Drake Duncan, Baylor Duncan, James Fletcher II (Megan), Matthew Hines (Ryley), Amber Fletcher, Ashley Watson (Justin), Danielle Lilly and ten great-grandchildren; two nieces, Linda Barton (Mike) and Brenda Marriott (Chris).David loved and cherished his family and friends.Visitation 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM with the funeral service following on Saturday, September 21st at Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel.
