Ira J. Kessler, 78 of Savannah, MO passed away at a local health facility in Oregon, MO on Tuesday October 21, 2025. He was born in Hines, West Virgina on January 16, 1947 to Harry & Alice (Hayes) Kessler. He married Karen Lee Hoyt in Upper Marlboro, Maryland on May 19, 1970 and she precede him in death in 2015.
Ira was a member of the First Baptist Church in Savannah and worked for the School District for years. You could always count on him to make students’ day better or find him in the gym playing basketball.
Ira enjoyed making people laugh and always had a joke to tell. He was a fan of NASCAR and the West Virginia Mountaineers. He took pride in everything he did, especially being a father figure to his nephew, Sammy.
Survivors include his sister-in-law, Roxann Hoyt of Savannah and nephew, Sammy (Chole) Hoyt of Savannah. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Private family interment will be at a later date. Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home of Savannah is in charge of local arrangements.
