David "Leroy" Robertson, 72, passed away on March 2, 2024, in Savannah, MO. Born on November 1, 1951, in St. Joseph, MO, to William W. and Della T. (Hahn) Robertson, Leroy grew to be a steadfast presence in his community, known for his generous heart and tireless work ethic.

Leroy married Tammy Sue Malotte on March 19, 1982.

Leroy's legacy is carried on by his wife, Tammy; son, Blake Robertson; sisters, Marie Lee, Carol Wolf, and Debbie Robertson; and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his cherished dogs, Hopper and Ozzy. Leroy was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Larry, Donnie, Ronnie, and Buck Robertson; and his son, Lucas Robertson.

Leroy's professional life was marked by dedication and skill. He spent significant years with Roderick Sign Company and Ross Frazier, before ending his career with a 20-year stint at Lowes, welcomed into retirement by the numerous friendships he had made along the way.

Beyond his professional commitments, Leroy was an avid deer hunter and fisherman. His kindness knew no bounds, as he was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need, reflecting a spirit of service that deeply touched all who knew him.

Ellen “Midge” Pawling, 80, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2024.

She was born on November 2, 1943, to Fielding and Hazel (Harris) Ballard in St. Joseph, Missouri.

She married Alvin R. Pawling on August 29, 1971.

Midge enjoyed having a good time, she was always smiling, laughing and cracking jokes. She could be seen dancing down the aisles in grocery stores and just enjoying life.

She grew up playing baseball, basketball and volleyball. As an adult, she was the biggest wrestling fan around, whether watching on the television or in person.

She loved spending time with her family, especially if her son-in-law Leroy was cooking his ham-n-beans. She was a devoted grandmother to her beloved grandson, Andrew, who was the apple of her eye.

Midge was a feisty firecracker of a woman, and she always told others, “I said what I meant, meant what I said, so don’t argue.” Her loved ones will forever cherish her fiery spirit.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fielding and Hazel; brother, William Ballard; sisters, Shirley Best and Vera Pelzman; and her grand-dog, Rosie.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Alvin; daughter, Susie Burson (Leroy Jackson), grandson, Andrew Jackson, all of St. Joseph, MO; sisters, Georgia Abbott (Jerry) of Dekalb, MO and Hazel Hall of St. Joseph, MO; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Elijah Lee Charles Ottison, 12, passed away unexpectedly, holding the hands of his mom and dad, on March 1, 2024 after a 16- month battle with T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and a brief battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.&nbsp;

Elijah was born on April 20, 2011. Elijah had an infectious smile and heart of gold. Elijah loved spending time with his family, playing Fortnite with family and friends, collecting Transformers, building Legos, catching Pokemon, reading his favorite manga, watching his favorite anime, and playing basketball. Elijah was an amazing role model and fierce protector of his younger siblings and cousins. Elijah loved Takis and strawberry Fanta.&nbsp;

Elijah was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on November 10, 2022. Elijah was treated at Children’s Mercy Hospital Hematology/ Oncology Clinic and quickly became a model patient and a staff favorite. Even when Elijah was struggling, he remained a kind, gentle soul.&nbsp;

Elijah’s family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Elijah’s Children’s Mercy Hematology/Oncology team — Dr. Joel Thompson, Nurse Practitioner Lindsey Fricke, and Social Worker Angela Bradford — for the unwavering and unconditional love, care, and compassion they showed Elijah and his family during his treatment, as well as his final hours. Elijah’s team rushed to be by his side during Elijah’s final hours, fought fiercely alongside the CMH PICU team, and provided support to Elijah’s family after his passing.&nbsp;

In lieu of flowers or gifts, Elijah’s family requests a donation of Legos to the Children’s Mercy Hematology/ Oncology clinic in Elijah’s honor. A collection box will be available at the service. Long time resident, Maurice K. Atland passed away Sunday, March 3rd, 2024 in his home.&nbsp;

Maurice was born, March 8, 1939 in Horton, Kansas and was looking forward to celebrating his approaching 85th birthday. &nbsp;

He was a lifetime member of the Missouri Lutheran Church. Maurice graduated from Horton High School in 1957 and joined the National Guard before marrying his High School Sweetheart Darlene Walker on February 16, 1958. Maurice worked for several area business contractors doing remodeling jobs before starting his own general construction company, building many homes in the area. He was later introduced by a friend to the manufactured homes industry. Maurice soon discovered that he had an act of salesmanship and became very successful selling homes, winning many awards for sales before deciding to open his own company north of Topeka in a huge warehouse. It was there he started his own trademark in manufactured homes that was turning over large sells until the bottom dropped out of the housing market and interest rates hit in all time high of over 18% in the early 1980’s. He ended up closing the warehouse.&nbsp;

He had taken interest in raising livestock on his farm as a hobby that led him to his new career path. He then had the opportunity to sell feed for Moorman Feeds locally, he soon took a promotion in Iola, Kansas and later to Louisiana as State Sales Manager for nearly 10 years. &nbsp;Maurice and Darlene returned to Hiawatha after early retirement to be around their family. Maurice’s passion for construction led them to buying properties in Hiawatha and remodeling them for rental property. Maurice and Darlene enjoyed working on the houses together until Maurice’s health no longer allowed him to do the physical work.&nbsp;

Maurice was an active pilot in the Horton Flying Club, he enjoyed water skiing, boating, fishing, hunting and camping with family and friends. He loved playing cards, family game night was his favorite, He also got a kick out of showing new card tricks he had learned. If something was broken, he was your guy! He could fix anything. Maurice enjoyed making wooden toys in his spare time for his grandkids and was even a vendor at craft shows. &nbsp;Antique shopping was a passion that Maurice and Darlene shared. &nbsp;He loved researching items of any nature on his computer and would spend hours every day on it.&nbsp;

Maurice and Darlene had four children, Laurice Nigus and fiancé Steve Burkhart, Gene Atland and wife Debbie, Connie Williams and husband Tom, Jody Morey and husband Guy. The couple shared 15 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren along with nieces and a nephew.&nbsp;

Maurice is preceded in death by his parents Arents and Irene Burns Atland, his sister Norma and brother-in-law Jerry Schuetz and son in law, Rick Nigus.&nbsp;

The family will meet with friends one hour prior to services at Church.&nbsp; A celebration of Maurice’s eternal life is planned for 11 a.m. Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Brian Holle officiating. &nbsp;Interment will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Everest, KS with military honors a courtesy of the Brown County Veterans Honor Guard.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Frank Wayne Leslie was born in St. Joseph, Missouri on February 2, 1950. &nbsp;Frank was the son of Shirley Elmer and Adelia Eizal (Chivington) Leslie.

On February 4, 1977 he was married to Sharon (Grasty) Jones.&nbsp;

Frank worked for 38 years at the production plant for Farmland Chemical, now Land O’Lakes. He retired in 2016.

Frank was a devoted hard-working family man. He loved classic country music, dancing, racing, fishing, and mushroom hunting.

Frank passed away at his Savannah home on March 2, 2024 at the age of 74.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roy Dwayne, Bobby Joe and Lloyd Leslie; and sister, June Langston.&nbsp;

He is survived by his wife Sharon, of their home; sons, Eddie (Carin) Jones of Forest City, Missouri, Noah (Kelly) Jones of Fillmore, Missouri, and Phillip Leslie of Blue Springs, Missouri; daughter, Michele Leslie and (Jason) of Savannah, Missouri; brothers, Russell (Dixie) Leslie of King City, Missouri, Albert (Jane) Leslie and Gene (Norma) Leslie, all of Michigan, Ralph (Vickie) Gullick of St. Joseph; sisters, Erma Ritchie, Mary Pitts, and Eva Thompson, all of St. Joseph; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Irma Searcy of Weston, Missouri, passed away Monday, March 4, 2024 at the Gower Convalescent Center in Gower, MO. Jamie Joe Rose, 56, of Gower, MO passed away March 3, 2024.

He was born on August 8, 1967, to James Douglas and Sue Ellen (Gibson) Rose in St. Joseph, MO. He grew up in Gower and attended kindergarten at East Buchanan. The summer following his kindergarten year, the family was in a vehicle accident that led to him spending the next 51 years in a wheelchair. Jamie graduated from Helen Davis school in St. Joseph in 1988.&nbsp;

Jamie started his adult life at the age of 21 in his apartment in St. Joseph. He loved adventure, fishing, camping, horse showing and was an avid KC Chiefs fan. Jamie was able to live out his bucket list that included going to the Budweiser Stables in St. Louis, taking trips to Branson, MO, Colorado, South Dakota, and Oregon, riding in a “big rig” and riding in a side car on a Harley. He had an amazing sense of humor, never met a stranger and never let his disability stand in his way. Jamie loved music, playing his harmonica and most of all being with his family.&nbsp;

He attended the adult program at UCP and won medals at the special Olympics.

Jamie was preceded in death by his father Jim Rose.

He is survived by his mother Sue Ellen Rose; sister Kelly Hampton; his brother Sean Rose and wife Debbie; nieces and nephews Courtney Guess Treece, Kassie Guess, Jacki (Rod) DeWinkler, Jenni (Zach)Bestgen and Jake (Molly) Rose; great-nieces and great-nephews Zach Treece, Clay McGary, Kimmy McGary, Peyton DeWinkler and Dorothy Jane Rose; other relatives and many friends.&nbsp;

Donald (Don) Miller, 88, Savannah, passed Saturday, March 3, 2024. &nbsp;Don was born July 12, 1935, to George Miller and Zella (Jones) Miller. Don married Jean Farrell September 3, 1955, and they celebrated 67 years of marriage just before Jean’s death on September 24, 2022.

Don graduated from Union Star High school where he was All-State in football; played basketball and American Legion baseball.&nbsp; He was also in the Naval Reserve.

Don coached 5th and 6th grade girls basketball for several years.

Over his career, Don drove a milk truck, farmed and drove over-the-road. &nbsp;In 1981 he began his own successful trucking company, Five M Trucking, retiring in 2013.

Don is survived by children Mark (Janet), Rita Houston (Kelly), Boyd (Kathy) Miller; grandchildren Ethan Miller, Caylee Knox, Colby Miller, Jenna Hovey, Brock Houston, Jacob Miller, Katie Stoll; 13 great-grandchildren; and sister, Leota Wilson.&nbsp; Along with Jean, Don was preceded in death by his parents, and brother and sister-in-law Larry and Vernelle Miller.

Arthur L. Sturgeon died on March 2, 2024, at the age of 78. He was born on June 22, 1945, in St. Joseph, Missouri, the youngest son of Chester O. and Esther M. Sturgeon.

He had moved around in his younger years and had settled in Southern California, working in construction and eventually having his own construction business. In 2005, he moved to Denver, Colorado, and lived there until 2016 when he moved back to Missouri to be closer to family. He lived in Cameron, Missouri, from 2016 to 2024 when he moved to St. Joseph due to his illness.

Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Louise (Garland (Junior or J.R.)) Thompson, his brother, Larry, and his sister, Linda.

Arthur is survived by his sister, Wanda Irene Sturgeon, his daughter, Jacquelyn (Jaci) (Drexel) Cook; his grandchildren, Matthew (Chelsey) Brewer and his sons, Eli and Zach; Danelle (Jonathan) Pray, and their daughters, Breanna and Alexus; Aron (Brandi) Sharp, and their sons, Jake and Luke; and Derek (Nikki) Cook and their daughter, Josie. He is also survived by his daughter, Kimberly Barnes and her children, Jonathan, Elizabeth and Andrew; along with his nieces and nephews, Lisa Sturgeon, Jeffrey Sturgeon, Teresa Cline, Clint Thompson and Andrea Roady, and his first wife, Darla Nitti.

Michael was a problem solver.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was always curious about how things worked and how he could make them better.&nbsp;&nbsp;This combined with his unmatched drive and entrepreneurial spirit, led him to create his own business from the ground up, Integrated Electronic Solutions, LLC, in 2012.

Michael was a member of Oak Christian Church.&nbsp;&nbsp;He loved the Lord and his family fiercely.&nbsp;&nbsp;Michael could truly talk to anyone about anything.&nbsp;&nbsp;He had a quiet strength about him that made you want to learn and listen.&nbsp;&nbsp;He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Lydia May Beaman was born on February 28, 2024, and passed away shortly after in the loving presence of her parents.

Lydia fought a courageous battle with stage three heart block, proving her tenacious spirit to her family before she was born. She continued to fight until her body grew tired, though her spirit was not broken.

She was loved deeply, and her family members feel blessed to have spent the time they had with her. Her memory will be cherished forever.

She left her earthly home and was welcomed into Heaven by her great-grandmothers, Linda Shouse and Nancy Brooks, and great-uncle, Dale Fletcher, who awaited her arrival.

Janet Kay Wykert, 82, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2024.&nbsp;

She was born on December 21, 1941, in St. Joseph, Missouri to Herbert and Lena (Riley) Benner.

She graduated from Lafayette High School.

Janet married Donald Ray Wykert on September 3, 1971. He preceded her in death on October 3, 2014.

She worked for Northwest Missouri Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center as an investigator for several years. Janet also volunteered with home hospice groups.&nbsp;

She was a member of the Green Valley Baptist Church and Shamrock Sister’s.&nbsp;

Janet loved spending time with her family, and she especially loved her cats.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Don, daughter, Kelli Wykert, and a granddaughter.

Survivors include children, Kenneth Tanner (Debbie), Kelly Walls (Jeffrey), Kari Tyree and Traci Wykert; brother, Glenn Benner (Patricia); several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Janet Kay Wykert, 82, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2024.&nbsp;She was born on December 21, 1941, in St. Joseph, Missouri to Herbert and Lena (Riley) Benner.She graduated from Lafayette High School.Janet married Donald Ray Wykert on September 3, 1971. He preceded her in death on October 3, 2014.She worked for Northwest Missouri Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center as an investigator for several years. Judith Ann “Judy” Halferty, 86, St. Joseph, MO, died Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at the Gower Convalescent Center.&nbsp;

She was born January 17, 1938 in Plattsburg, MO to J.B. and Delores Halferty. She was raised in Plattsburg and later moved to St. Joseph, MO, where she lived most of her adult life.

Preceding her in death were her parents, J.B. and Delores Halferty; brother, Jimmy Halferty; and nephew, J.W. Lile.

Ms. Halferty held a B.S. in Education from Missouri Western State University and a M.S. in Education from Northwest Missouri State University. She started the first pre-school program at Lake Contrary School in St. Joseph and finished her teaching career at Bessie Ellison School teaching kindergarten.

She was a member of Kappa Delta Pi, Delta Kappa Gamma, P.E.O. Chapter BJ, where she was Past President and Past Reciprocity President, Retired Missouri Teachers Association, the St. Joseph Runcie Club, and an active member of McCarthy Baptist Church.&nbsp;

Carolyn Jean (Haze) Clark, 78, Savannah, Missouri, passed away on February 27, 2024. She was born on July 24, 1945, in Turlock, California, to Cecil R. and Jacquelyn A. (Keys) Haze.

Carolyn graduated from Alameda High School in 1963. She led a fulfilling career with American Family Insurance, where she performed many roles over the years, dedicating her time and talents to the company. Her dedication extended beyond her professional life and into her contributions to her community. Carolyn was a devoted Girl Scout Leader for many years, inspiring numerous young women with her leadership and kindness. A faithful member of Savannah Baptist Church, she embodied the values of compassion and community service in her daily life.

Carolyn's zest for life was reflected in her various hobbies, which included ceramics, tote painting, and scrapbooking—endeavors that showcased her artistic talents and her love for preserving memories.

She first married Jerry Linn Townsend on March 24, 1964, who preceded her in death in 1997. Her heart found love again, and she married Walter Bruce Clark on September 1, 2000, with whom she shared many cherished moments.

She is survived by her husband, Walter B. Clark; daughters, Karen Townsend Guinn and Lori Townsend Aistrope; step-daughters Wendy Sisk, Jodi Duncan (Greg), Jennifer Lundy (Jeff), and Carie O'Neal (Tim); and her precious grandchildren, Zackery Aistrope, Colby Aistrope, Brady Aistrope, Jacob Richie, Hana DeJarnette, Emily Guinn, Jacob Lundy, Jessie Lundy, Jenna O’Neal, Nelson O’Neal, Rylan Duncan, Zachary Duncan, and Wade Duncan; numerous great-grandchildren; and aunt, Margie Malone.

She was born July 17, 1972 in Beacon, New York to Roland and Janet (Reeve) Russell. She graduated in 1990 from Georgetown, Texas, High School, then earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Texas Christian University.

Samantha married Leslie Rose on March 15, 1997. He preceded her in death on October 18, 2009.

Samantha enjoyed reading and watching Netflix, and loved to travel, taking yearly special trips with her son. She also loved Mexican food.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie; her parents; and beloved cat, Bop.

Michael "Mike" Chellew, 70, a beloved husband, father, pepaw, son, and brother, succumbed to his long fought battle with stomach cancer on February 26, 2024. Born on September 17, 1953, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Donald L. and Ruth M. (Meadows) Chellew.

A proud veteran, Mike served his country in the United States Navy onboard the U.S.S. Oklahoma City during the Vietnam War, exhibiting bravery and commitment that lasted a tenure of two years active duty followed by four years in the reserve. Mike married Cynthia Sue Smith, on February 16, 1979. Their union was not only a testament to enduring love but also formed the foundation of a loving family, including their children, Brad (Brandi), Bryan (Lacey), and Jamie (James) Chellew, who further blessed Mike with the laughter of five grandchildren: Kasch Chellew, Ryder Chellew, Dillin, Kylie, and Cooper. His family was most important to him.

Mike was a highly respected lineman for 17 years and later an operations manager for 23 years for United Electric Cooperative, where his excellence in service was recognized with the prestigious J.C. Burrows Award. His unwavering dedication to safety and efficiency also led him to serve on the Risk Management and Training Planning Committee for the state, benefiting many in his field.

Mike’s interests depicted the portrait of a man deeply connected to both community and nature. His time spent golfing, fishing, hunting, and mushroom hunting were cherished interludes, while his commitment to family was consistent and unyielding. Mike was a pillar in the Masonic community, serving three times as Master of the Savannah Lodge, a Moila Shriners member, and taking pride in his role as District Deputy Grand Master. His devotion to mentoring the young was evident through his coaching for the Metro Wrestling Club and Little League Baseball, marks of his strong belief in giving back and shaping future generations.

He leaves behind his loving wife Cynthia; their children and grandchildren; his mother Ruth; siblings Dennis Chellew (Stephanie), Donna Beasley (Terry), Diana Silcott (Chris); along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by his father Donald, Mike now joins him in eternal rest.

She was born February 20, 1940, at home, in rural Havensville, Jackson County, Kansas. &nbsp;The daughter of Clifford William Chance and Ida Nancy Arganbright Chance. &nbsp;She graduated from Springdale Grade School and Havensville High School. &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;

Gale Lee McDougal and Ruth “Nadine” Chance were married on April 18, 1964. &nbsp;He survives of the home.

Ruth “Nadine” was preceded in death by her parents, also a daughter, Janet E. McDougal, sisters Virginia (Lyle) McDougal and Judy K (Richard) Ribelin.

Renee Roy Shopteese, Quengo, 56, of Delia, passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024 in Topeka.

She was born January 12, 1968 in Holton, the daughter of Virgil Shopteese, Sr. and Delilah Allen Shopteese. She graduated from the Kickapoo Nation High School.

Renee was a member of the Kickapoo and Prairie Band Potawatomi Nations, and the Drum Religion.

She had worked in home health care as a Certified Nurse’s Aide.

Renee was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Virgie Lee Shopteese and Mavis Shopteese.

Survivors include two sons, Dakota “Kack-Kack” Shopteese, Topeka, and Keegan Shopteese, Tulsa, OK, two daughters, Keanu Shopteese, Lawrence, and Desiree Shopteese, Topeka, one brother, Virgil “Wamp” Shopteese, Jr., Delia, five sisters, Toni McIntosh, Jodi McIntosh and Linda “Lemon” Shopteese, all of Pawhuska, OK, Laury D. Shopteese, Mayetta and Tracy Shopteese, Topeka, eight grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Renee Roy Shopteese 1968 - 2024

Dixie Kathleen (Allen) Derr passed away peacefully at her home on February 27, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Dixie was born in Union Star, Missouri, on January 28, 1944. She was one of seven children of Loren Allen and Dorothy Ferne (Campbell) Allen.

Dixie and her family moved to Oregon, Missouri, just before her junior year of high school. While Dixie was sad to leave her friends in Union Star, she made new ones in Oregon and became active in school. Her favorite classes were biology and shorthand. Dixie played basketball, was a cheerleader, and was crowned the 1961 Oregon High School Homecoming Queen her senior year. Dixie graduated from South Holt High School in the spring of 1962.

Dixie went on to use her exceptional shorthand skills working as an administrative assistant for Missouri Methodist Hospital in St. Joseph, Missouri, and Attorneys Rupert Pettijohn and Jack Eiser of Pettijohn and Eiser LLC, in Oregon, Missouri.

On January 17, 1964, she married her best friend George Warner (G.W.) Derr, and they became the loving parents to two children, Brad and Bridgit.

Dixie loved to knit as a hobby but turned her hobby into a business when she opened Dixie's Knitting Room in Oregon, Missouri, in 1980 and became a dealer for Brother Knitting Machines. Teaching others to knit was high on her list of favorite activities. She gave free lessons to her customers and hosted a "Knit Club" that met monthly and included thirty-one members from three states. She also taught for Brother Seminars in Kansas City, Missouri.

As Dixie grew her business, she opened a new location in St. Joseph, Missouri, in 1986.

G.W. and Dixie purchased Oregon Truck &amp; Tractor Inc. in 1991. Dixie managed the office, handled all the bookkeeping, and wrote contracts and &nbsp; equipment &nbsp; warranties. &nbsp; In the fall of 1998 they opened Derr&nbsp;Equipment in Savannah, Missouri. G.W. and Dixie retired full-time in 2009 and moved to Table Rock Lake. Retirement was full of lake activities enjoyed by family and friends.

Dixie was most active throughout her life, serving her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a founding member of the Oregon First Baptist Church, where she played the piano, taught bible study, and was an accompanist for weddings and funerals for friends and family throughout their community.

She traveled abroad, sharing the Gospel during her four Missionary trips to Africa and later taking her granddaughter, Micaela Patterson, to Bolivia. She taught VBS, Acteens, and G.A.s and led women's ministry groups. Dixie didn't let retirement slow her down. She became an active member at the First Baptist Church, Kimberling City, where she continued to teach Sunday School, help with VBS and AWANA's, and was committed to sharing Jesus with her friends, neighbors, and others while on the stateside mission trips. She and GW were avid hosts who loved to share their home during "Dinner for 8" nights with their church family.

Dixie passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at her St. Joseph, Missouri home.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sister and brother-in-law Alice and Martin Barker, and brother and sister-in-law Clifford and Connie Allen.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, G.W; son and wife, Brad and Deena Derr of Oregon, Missouri and her daughter; Bridgit Derr Patterson of Liberty, Missouri; four grandchildren; Garrett Derr and wife Rebecca, and Cutler Derr and wife Karley, all of Oregon, Missouri; Micaela Patterson and Colby Patterson of Liberty, Missouri; and one great-grandchild, McCormick Derr of Oregon; sister Donna Slaybaugh of Kansas City, Missouri; brother and wife Richard and Sharron Allen of Tennessee; sister and husband Drs Marcia and Dennis Hansen of Wisconsin; brother and wife Ron and Tracy Allen of Oregon, Missouri; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who adored her.

Dixie had a selfless personality and touched so many lives. She was a remarkable woman who loved big and made life a whole light brighter. She had the best laugh, and could make a whole room smile. She brought true joy, the joy that can only be found in Jesus.

Funeral services: Saturday, March 9, 2024, 11:00 am, First Baptist Church, Oregon, Missouri. Family will greet friends one hour prior to services, at the church. Interment: Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Epilepsy Foundation of Missouri and Kansas, or the First Baptist Church.

Dixie Kathleen (Allen) Derr passed away peacefully at her home on February 27, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.Dixie was born in Union Star, Missouri, on January 28, 1944. She was one of seven children of Loren Allen and Dorothy Ferne (Campbell) Allen.Dixie and her family moved to Oregon, Missouri, just before her junior year of high school. While Dixie was sad to leave her friends in Union Star, she made new ones in Oregon and became active in school. Her favorite classes were biology and shorthand. Dixie played basketball, was a cheerleader, and was crowned the 1961 Oregon High School Homecoming Queen her senior year. Dixie graduated from South Holt High School in the spring of 1962.Dixie went on to use her exceptional shorthand skills working as an administrative assistant for Missouri Methodist Hospital in St. Joseph, Missouri, and Attorneys Rupert Pettijohn and Jack Eiser of Pettijohn and Eiser LLC, in Oregon, Missouri.On January 17, 1964, she married her best friend George Warner (G.W.) Derr, and they became the loving parents to two children, Brad and Bridgit.Dixie loved to knit as a hobby but turned her hobby into a business when she opened Dixie's Knitting Room in Oregon, Missouri, in 1980 and became a dealer for Brother Knitting Machines. Teaching others to knit was high on her list of favorite activities. She gave free lessons to her customers and hosted a "Knit Club" that met monthly and included thirty-one members from three states. She also taught for Brother Seminars in Kansas City, Missouri.As Dixie grew her business, she opened a new location in St. Joseph, Missouri, in 1986.G.W. and Dixie purchased Oregon Truck &amp; Tractor Inc. in 1991. Dixie managed the office, handled all the bookkeeping, and wrote contracts and &nbsp; equipment &nbsp; warranties. &nbsp; In the fall of 1998 they opened Derr&nbsp;Equipment in Savannah, Missouri. G.W. and Dixie retired full-time in 2009 and moved to Table Rock Lake. Charlotte Montgomery, 81, of Kansas City, MO passed away, February 29, 2024.

She was born on February 5, 1943 to Roy Harvey and Charlotte (Wilson) Fleming in Kansas City, MO. Charlotte grew up in Kansas City, MO and graduated from East High School in 1961.

She met the love of her life at Hallmark Cards and was united in marriage to Gary Montgomery on March 2, 1962. After their marriage they lived in Kansas City before moving to Smithville and starting their family.&nbsp;

She retired from Hallmark Cards after 38 years and they moved to Pharr, Texas for a few years before returning to Kansas City. She very much loved her family, loved to bowl 3 times a week and play cards weekly.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life of 61 years, Gary; her parents; her brother, Bob Fleming; and sister, Sharon Nolan.

She leaves behind two children, Richard (Diana) Montgomery of Kansas City, MO, daughter Cindy (Guy) Carter of Independence, MO; sisters, Carolyn Rider and Karen Wingerter; sister-in-law, Ruth Fleming; grandchildren, Stephen (Danita) Brooke, Katie and Chris Braton, Linda Piemonte (Aaron), Liz Piemonte (Edwin), Kaylee (Brett) Campbell, and Kristian Carter; great-grandchildren Gavin, Makenzie, Hunter and Ryker Brooke, Waylon Braton, and Cooper Campbell; several nieces, nephews and extended family and loving friends.

Anna May Gardner, 86, of Plattsburg, MO passed away February 29, 2024.

She was born on August 5, 1937. She grew up in St. Louis and Smithville and graduated from Smithville High School.

On October 2, 1957 she was united in marriage to Charles D. Gardner. After their marriage they lived in Plattsburg where they made their home. Her husband, C.D., preceded her in death on October 20, 2018.
