Delbert "Del" Ernest Gentzell, 96, of St. Joseph, MO, passed away October 18, 2025 at the Missouri Veteran's Home in Cameron, MO.
Del was born May 10, 1929 in St. Joseph to Claude Clayton and Beulah Mae (Hill) Gentzell. He was a graduate of Lafayette High School and served his country honorably in the US Army during the Korean War.
He had worked for the North Kansas City School District, Heartland Health Systems St. Joseph, MO, and retired from Walmart.
Del was a member of Maxwell Heights Presbyterian Church and also attended at the First Church of the Nazarene. He was a member of the American Legion Post #359, Boy Scouts of America of the Kansas City, MO Council, and was on the senior citizen bowling league in St. Joseph.
He was married to Georgia Christman and she preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his parents; brother Clifford; and sister Clara Mae Blankenship.
Survivors include son Robert Gentzell; nephews, William Blankenship (Mary), Eugene Blankenship, Jr., Dennis Gentzell (Linda); nieces, Barbara Baber, Karen O'Neill; step-son Larry Dale Justice; and step-daughter Joyce Elaine Jackson (Paul).
Visitation will be Thursday, October 23, 2025 from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon. The funeral procession will then precede to Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Weston, MO, for full military honors and burial.
