She was born on October 20, 1935, in Stanberry, Missouri the daughter of Ross and Viola Marie (Shanks) Cooper.

On January 10, 1954, she married Georgie Lee Evans. He preceded her in death on January 24, 2019.

Carol was a committed homemaker and farm wife and later in life worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She was a member of the Guilford United Methodist Church and enjoyed music, especially piano, and learning genealogy.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gary “Buzz” Cooper, and sister, Delores O’Neal.

Carol is survived by her sons, Ryan (Cheryl) Evans, Des Moines, IA, Edward Evans, Maryville, MO, and Doug (Mary) Evans, Guilford, MO; daughter, Brenda Evans, Tracy, MO; sister, Colleen Lane, Stanberry, MO; brother, Jerry Cooper, St. Joseph, MO; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Carol has been cremated under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Stanberry, MO.

Inurnment at High Ridge Cemetery, Stanberry, MO will be held at a later date. There are no scheduled services.

Elmer Leroy Mires Jr., a longtime Leavenworth County resident and business owner who fabricated cement tanks and installed septic systems passed away March 26th 2023 at KU Medical Center. He operated his business, Mires Sales and Services, for fifty years before parking his backhoe for the last time and retiring in 2019.

Elmer was born in Maryville, Missouri to Elmer Guy Mires and Mary Mildred (Ross) Mires on July 15, 1937. He spent his youth on the family farm and graduated from Maryville High School. He found delight in hunting morel mushrooms and fishing. Elmer enjoyed "visiting" with family and friends.

Elmer was drafted into the U. S. Army. After his military service he began working as a welder at Missouri Valley Steel in Leavenworth. He met Barbara Jane Harris at that time. The couple married April 5, 1964 at the Baptist Church in Lansing, KS. Elmer and his wife were married for 56 years before her passing in 2021.&nbsp;

Besides his wife, Elmer was preceded in death by his infant son, Alex. Also deceased are Elmer's parents, a brother- Richard L Mires, and a sister-Alice Jean Birkenholtz all of Nodaway County, MO.

He is survived by five children; Sharla Vandruff (Brian) of Topeka, Phillip Mires of Easton, Susan Collins (Ron) of Easton, Stacy Rycheck (Kevin) of Garnett, KS and Shelly Mires of Kansas City, MO. Elmer is survived by five grandchildren; Duncan, Bryan and Jenna Rycheck, Victor Collins, and Laura Vandruff. He is also survived by two sisters; Marcella Hayes (Don) of Indianola, Iowa , Mary Stanton of Maryville, MO and a sister-in-law Sandra Mires. Elmer also leaves nieces, nephews and cousins.&nbsp;

Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, April 2nd, 2023 between 2 - 4 pm. at Davis Funeral Chapel, Leavenworth. Graveside Service and interment will be at Leavenworth National Cemetery on Monday, April 3rd, 2023 at 12:30 pm.

Kim was a Christian woman, and very fond of her cats.

ONAGA – Duane C. Wege, 81, of Onaga, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023 at the Community Hospital in Onaga.

He was born May 1, 1941 on the farm at Onaga, the son of Otto and Hannah Ladwig Wege. He graduated from Onaga High School in 1959 and had served in the U.S. Army National Guard.

Duane was a farmer and a stockman and had been a 4-H Youth Leader.&nbsp;

He married Loretta K. Brunkow on October 8, 1967 at Onaga.&nbsp; She survives, of the home.

Duane was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Emma Perry, and a brother, Curtis Wege.

Other survivors include two daughters, Gail Wege and Carol Perry (Luke), all of Onaga, a sister, Lavina Weber, Onaga and six grandchildren, Faith and Allie Perry and Zabel, Maesynn, Krevour and Annalynn Collins

Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 31st at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Onaga. Burial with military honors will follow in the Onaga Cemetery. Duane will lie in state from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Onaga. Family and friends will meet from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Friday. Darla Jean Hunt, 62, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Sunday, March 26, 2023 at her home. She was born July 1, 1960 in Rapid City, South Dakota daughter of Frances "Morine" &amp; Robert Walker.

She graduated from Savannah High School in 1978. Darla worked at the Ferris Wheel in Savannah and for the State of Missouri as a Clerical Worker. She married Robert "Bob" Hunt on February 14, 1997. She loved playing and laughing with children, commonly refereed to as a baby whisperer. She collected pandas, enjoyed swimming, traveling, riding horses and camping. She will be fondly remembered for harassing and laughing with people and telling jokes. Darla was a member of the Stewartsville 1st Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death is her husband, Bob Dale Hunt in 2022, her father, Robert Walker, granddaughter, Moriah Reynolds, Step-Son, David Hunt, sisters, Deborah Walker and Denise White and brother, Dennis Walker.

Trent Alan Guthrie, 48, of St. Joseph passed away Thursday, March 16, 2023 from a sudden illness at a Columbia, SC Medical Center. He was born February 14, 1975 in Manhattan, KS, son of Donna and Lt. Col. John Guthrie. 

He graduated in 1993 from Thomas B. Doherty High School in Colorado Springs, CO, and in 1999 from the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs, with a B.S. in Chemistry. Trent began his career as an R&amp;D chemist at Eltron Research and as a water treatment process optimization specialist for the City of Boulder, Colorado. He began his career in the pharmaceutical industry at Pfizer in Kalmazoo, MI, and for the past 15 years he held various professional roles at Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health in St. Joseph, MO. 

He married Cassandra "Cassie" Krumme on July 30, 2013 in Buena Vista, CO. He enjoyed spending time on his Jeep adventures, gardening, cooking chef quality meals for his family and friends, and sharing his incredible depth of knowledge on scientific topics. He was a member of the Show-Me Jeep Club in St. Joseph, MO. 

Trent was preceded in death by his parents. 

Survivors include wife, Cassie Guthrie, sons, Abner and Boone Guthrie, brother, Brett (Nichola Lembergs) Guthrie of Colorado Springs, CO, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alan and Cathy Krumme of Faucett, MO, sister-in-law's, Jessica Hathaway of St. Louis, MO and Allison Krumme of St. Louis, MO, an aunt, Helen Guthrie of Florida, several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends and colleagues.

Jonny Lee Walts, 23, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2023.

He was born November 9, 1999 to Jon and Lisa (Manno) Walts in St. Joseph, Missouri.

He graduated from Lafayette High School in 2018.

Jonny enjoyed riding motorcycles ever since he could walk. He loved to make people laugh until it hurt with his one liners. He would also help anyone at the drop of a hat. He loved playing pool and listening to loud music.

He was a huge Star Wars fan. He also was a fan of the Chiefs, Eagles, and Royals.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Bill Lee Walts; grandparents, Paul and Maxine Walts; Aunt and Uncle, Gary Sr. and Judy Walts; uncle, Billy Lee Walts; cousin, Gary Walts, Jr.; dogs, Smokey and Ned.

James was born August 27,1961 in Long Beach CA to Ervin and Margaret Thompson. James was a good-hearted man who loved his family and friends.  Everyone he came in contact with became a friend. James would help people with anything even if they didn’t ask. He enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids. He liked listening to rock music and enjoyed his TV.

James is survived by his ex-wife, Robecca (Becky) two brothers and three sisters. He is also survived by five sons, James(JD), Damian, Alex, Jake and Troy Thompson and a daughter Carrie Thompson. Six grandchildren Tyler, Sienna and Quinten Chappell, Zayden Smith, Alonzo Potts -Thompson and Arrabella Thompson. James is also survived by three great-grandchildren.

James is predeceased by his parents Ervin (Fred) and Margaret (Peggy) Thompson and a son TJ Thompson.

James F. Thompson 1961 - 2023

Philip Steven Clark, 81, of Leavenworth, passed away on March 19, 2023.

Philip was born on February 27, 1942 in Sabetha, Kansas.&nbsp; In 1986 he married, the love of his life, Patricia Anne McClanahan.

Philip earned at Bachelors at Doane University and then he acquired a Masters in Music at Indiana University.

Philip served in the United States Army, where he participated in the United States Army Band.

Philip was a civil service worker in the CARL Library on Fort Leavenworth, Kansas for over 30 years. Prior to working in civil service, he taught music at the University level.

Philip enjoyed steam engines and vintage architecture. He was faithfully devoted to the scriptures and divulged himself daily in bible studies. He was a composer of a variety of different classical music styles from opera to string quartet.

Philip gave yearly piano recitals at the Leavenworth Carnegie Performing Arts Center. He expanded on all of the genres of music to share the endless repertoire of music each year at the yearly recitals.

Philip was the church organist for various congregations over the years. He never missed a service at All Nations SDA until a week before he passed. He was very active at All Nations Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

Philip is preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Clark.

Philip is survived by his wife, Patricia Clark, a brother, Dennis Clark, some bonus children, as well as many cousins.

Visitation will be held at the All Nations Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 528 Spruce St., Leavenworth, Kansas, on Sunday, April 2, 2023 from 2 to 3 P.M. Memorial service will follow at 3 P.M. Burial will be held at Leavenworth National Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Davis Funeral Chapel.

Philip Steven Clark, 81, of Leavenworth, passed away on March 19, 2023.Philip was born on February 27, 1942 in Sabetha, Kansas.&nbsp; In 1986 he married, the love of his life, Patricia Anne McClanahan.Philip earned at Bachelors at Doane University and then he acquired a Masters in Music at Indiana University.Philip served in the United States Army, where he participated in the United States Army Band.Philip was a civil service worker in the CARL Library on Fort Leavenworth, Kansas for over 30 years. Prior to working in civil service, he taught music at the University level.Philip enjoyed steam engines and vintage architecture. He was faithfully devoted to the scriptures and divulged himself daily in bible studies. He was a composer of a variety of different classical music styles from opera to string quartet.Philip gave yearly piano recitals at the Leavenworth Carnegie Performing Arts Center. Scott Allen Keely, 67, of Country Club, Missouri passed away Thursday, March 23rd, 2023 at his home. He was born July 15th, 1955 to Clyde and Lila (Ott) Keely. He married Shelly Holt at Wyatt Park Christian Church in St. Joseph, MO on May 3rd, 1980 and she survives of the home.

Scott had his private pilot's license and had a passion for aviation and flying with his friends and family. He was first a paramedic, then he also became an airframe and power plant mechanic. He was an original founding member of The New Generation Singers. He was a faithful servant of the Lord and never missed their performances. Scott enjoyed traveling the country with The New Generation Singers to spread the Lord's message to all. Scott was an avid, lifelong Chiefs fan. He enjoyed boating, jet skiing, auctions, storytelling, and spending time with his granddaughter.&nbsp; Scott never missed activities, sports, or events for his children near or far and was a constant support of their dreams and aspirations.&nbsp;

Survivors include his wife, Shelly Keely of Country Club; daughter Kristin Keely (Connor) of St. Joseph; son, Kyle (Jessica) Keely of St. Joseph; sisters, Michelle Keely of St. Joseph and Elizabeth Taylor of McKinney, TX; and granddaughter, Jocelyn Grace Keely.

Celebration of life will be held at a later date. Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home Savannah, MO is in charge of local arrangements.

Russell Duane Neeley, age 87, of Brookfield, MO, passed away Friday, 
March 24, 2023, at Pershing Memorial Hospital in Brookfield, MO. 
Duane, son of Russell and Bertha (Shaw) Neeley, was born October 4, 
1935, Olive Street, Laclede, MO. He graduated from Laclede High School 
in May 1953. He received a Basketball Scholarship to Northeast Missouri 
Collage (now Truman University). His basketball highlight was making 40 
points in one game at Laplata, MO. Duane married Margaret Singleton
 on August 12, 1956. They celebrated their 60th Anniversary August 12, 
2016. They have lived in the Laclede area, on the same farm, all their 
married lives. They have raised Duroc Hogs and Hereford Cattle on the 
farm. Duane’s first years of teaching began at Laclede Public 
School as Athletic Coach and taught high school shop. The following year
 began teaching at Meadville R-4 School as shop instructor followed by 
many other teaching positions. One of his highlights was coaching a 
Championship Girls Basketball teams. He taught at Meadville R-4 for 
seventeen years. Duane and Margaret operated three businesses in 
Laclede. First, they and a partner operated R&amp;R Grain Elevator. His 
father had a heart attack so they operated Neeley’s D=X Station until it
 was sold. Duane went back to teaching drafting and shop at Brookfield 
R-3 for eighteen years. They opened and Antique shop in Laclede after he
 retired from 36 years of teaching. Through the years, they have 
been active in the community. Duane was President of the Laclede Housing
 and saw to the completion of the present units. His Brookfield drafting
 class drew up the plans for the Lambert Community Building and Margaret
 served on the committee to raise the rest of the funds to build the 
Community Building. The building was constructed by a former Meadville 
student, Bill Wilburn and his crew. Duane is survived by his wife 
Margaret of the home, two sons, Dana Neeley and wife Sharon of Maitland,
 MO; and Darrell Neeley and wife DaLana of Brookfield, MO; 
daughter-in-law, Carla Neeley of Brookfield, MO; six grandchildren, 
Amanda Lee and husband Jason of Chillicothe, MO; Nathan Neeley and Kelly
 of Jamesport, MO; Russell Neeley of St. Joseph, MO; Kristen Neeley of 
Columbia, MO; Jennifer (Neeley) Harezlak of Laclede, MO; and Matthew 
Neeley of Wake Forest, NC; seven great-grandchildren, and several other 
relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Randy Neeley.

James and his husband, Mark, made his home in Kansas City, MO. He enjoyed detailing cars.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Shirley Harmer; and brothers, J.F. Cullum and Bill Cullum.

Mary was born on January 14, 1932, in Clarkfield, MN the daughter of 
Adolph and Mabel (Johnson) Anderson. Mary was married to William L. 
O’Trimble on December 25, 1957, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, 
Nortonville, KS. They purchased the Warren Funeral Home Nortonville on 
July 1, 1972. They opened the O’Trimble Funeral Home, Effingham on 
April 22, 1974. They owned and operated both funeral homes until 1992 
when they sold the funeral homes to the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral 
Homes.

Mary was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church where she 
served in the Ladies Aide, she was a member of the Progressive Club, 
Pinochle Card Club and the Senior Citizens. Mary taught sewing and 
cooking for 4H children. She enjoyed dancing, spending time with her 
grandchildren and attending sporting activities. 
Survivors include two daughters, Kristy (Randy) Noll, Nortonville, 
Pamela J. (Bill) Hofelt, Atchison, KS, seven grandchildren; Bryan 
(Meaghen) Noll, Heather Herrig, Suzy (Ryan) Sutton, Brandon (Joey) 
Herrig, Kymee Noll, Kyle (Jayden) Noll, and Allie Hofelt, fourteen great
 grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Her parents, husband,

Survivors include her children Connie Groce (Larry), Steven Shouse 
(Clarice), Paul Shouse (Deb), James Shouse ; several grandchildren, 
great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; three brothers; 
step-children Floyd Jeffers; daughter-in-law Sylvia Jeffers,&nbsp; other 
relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Tom Jeffers Sr.; two grandchildren, Eric Shouse and Robin Shouse; &nbsp;step-son Tom 
Jeffers Jr.; three brothers; three sisters; daughter-in-law Linda 
Shouse; and step-daughter-in-law, Sandra Jeffers.

She retired from MEAD after 25 years of service.&nbsp; Her passion was 
painting and she had owned and operated "Mary's Painting Parlor", where 
she taught many to paint.

Karen Sue Melsness, 78, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023, in St. Joseph. She was born August 28, 1944, in Plattsburg, Missouri, daughter of Hazel &amp; Thomas Belcher. 

She graduated from Plattsburg High School, and she worked as a certified nurses aide. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, playing bingo, horseback riding and gardening. 

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, son, Harley Jeffers, sisters Pamelia Ashler, Delores Baggio, and Ruth Limley, and brother, Thomas Belcher. 

She is survived by niece, Michelle Ashler-Pyles of St. Joseph, sister, Frances Laughlin of Savannah, brother, Louis (Dee Pike) Belcher of St. Joseph, and grandsons, Tye Jeffers of St. Joseph and Shawn Jeffers of IA. 

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at the Rupp Funeral Home, with a Celebration of Life following at 2:00 pm. Pastor Leanna VanZandt Nauman officiating. She will be cremated under the care of the Rupp Funeral Home.&nbsp;

Mark D. Stewart, 64, of St Joseph, MO, passed away Saturday, March 25, 
2023, in St. Joseph, MO. He was born February 17, 1959, in St Joseph, son 
of Bernice and Galen Stewart Sr. &nbsp;

Mark loved fixing things up, 
especially cars and he was a Chevy Truck fan. 

Mark was preceded in death
 by his parents, brothers, Galen Paul Stewart and Dennis Thomas, and 
sister, Mary Palmer. 

Survivors include: son, Mark (Jennifer) Stewart Jr. of Seneca, SC, daughters, Brooke Stewart of St. Joseph, Ali Jo 
Stewart of St. Joseph, and Melissa (Andy) Cogdill of Los Alamos, NM, 
sister, Kim (Brad) Moutray of St. Joseph, MO, brother, Randy (Susan) 
Stewart of FL, sisters, Barbara Roberts of St. Joseph, and Charlotte 
Thompson of Atchison, KS, great-nieces who took care of Mark, Brandi 
Perry and Nicki Martinez, and many other nieces and nephews. Mr. 
Stewart has been cremated under the care of Rupp Funeral Home. A 
Celebration of Life will be from 5:00 to 7:00pm Wednesday, March 29, 
2023, at Rupp Funeral Home. The Inurnment will be at the Bellemont

Alice Marie Chastain-Prewitt, age 79, of Kingston, Missouri, passed away Saturday night, March 25, 
2023, at Liberty Hospital in Liberty, Missouri.&nbsp;

Alice was born on 
November 14, 1943, the daughter of Howard Jackson and Emma Violet 
(Hadley) Lefler in Lincoln, NE.&nbsp;She was a 1961 graduate of the Waverly, 
NE High School. On May 18th, 1963, she was united in marriage to Ray 
Chastain in Waverly, NE and they enjoyed 48 years of marriage before 
Ray's passing. &nbsp;She was alone for 7 years until she married Kenny 
Prewitt on July 7th, 2018, at the farm. Alice was truly happy again. 
&nbsp;

Ray and Alice owned the Red Rooster in Polo from October 15th, 1985 
until the fall of 1998. &nbsp;Alice felt blessed that Ray was able to have a 
career with General Motors. &nbsp;She loved quilting and made quilts for over
 70 family members with love. 

Alice was a member of First Baptist Church
 in Cowgill. She served on mission trips to Belarus, Russia, North &amp;
 South Dakota and New Orleans. She taught Sunday School and Bible School
 for over 50 years. She began helping with the younger kids at Mini 
Hoppers Camp in 1989. Alice was a loving mother, grandmother, and 
great-grandmother. Family and church were the most important to her. 
Alice loved her grandkids, great-grandkids and all kids. 

She treated 
everyone like family. Alice will be dearly missed by her family and 
friends.&nbsp;Throughout her battle with cancer she was blessed with no pain,
 God's presence, her family, friends and a loving supportive husband.&nbsp;

She
 was preceded in death by her parents and first husband, Ray Chastain. 
She is survived by her husband Kenny Prewitt of the home; sons, Kevin 
Chastain (Maria) of Whidbey Island, WA, Kenny Chastain (Carrie) of 
Liberty, MO, Kyle Chastain (Julie) of Chillicothe, MO, and Kurtis 
Chastain (Tammy) of Cameron, MO; stepdaughter, Tina Rash (Jeff) of Polo,
 MO; stepson, Paul Prewitt of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Ramil, Raean, 
Chris, Amy, Aaron (Phuong), Braden, Alex (Trina), Addie, Daniel, Jonah, 
Samuel, John, Kylee (Tristan), Eli (Savannah), Carol, Brianna (Wesley), 
and Levi; step-grandchildren, Tiffany (Nathan), Jennifer (Jason), Taylor
 (Erik), Jordan (Devon), Zachery, Tanner, Ryan; twenty-six 
great-grandchildren and one on the way; two siblings, John Lefler (Ardy)
 of Shawnee, KS and Sharon Moeller (Merv) of Davey, NE; other extended

Mark S. Barnthson, 59, of Troy, Kansas, passed away at his home Saturday, March 25, 2023.&nbsp;

Mark was born on November 18, 1963, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Raymond E. and Dawn (Gillespie) Barnthson.&nbsp;&nbsp;He grew up in Troy, later lived in St. Joseph, Missouri for 25 years, then moved back to Troy in 2018.&nbsp;&nbsp;Mark worked as laborer for Hillshire Foods in St. Joseph.&nbsp;

He was a kind-hearted, helpful man.&nbsp;&nbsp;Mark was a Chiefs fan.&nbsp;&nbsp;He and his brother Gordon enjoyed playing croquet on weekends.&nbsp;&nbsp;He
 and Theresa also enjoyed attending the Renaissance Festival in Bonner 
Springs, Kansas and leisurely drives in the country ending up at a Taco 
Bell restaurant.&nbsp;

Mark married Theresa Taylor June 25, 2013, in St. Joseph, Missouri.&nbsp;&nbsp;She survives of the home.&nbsp;&nbsp;Mark was preceded in death by his parents.&nbsp;

Additional survivors include 2 step-sons, Jeremy Murphy (Rose) of St. Joseph, Missouri&nbsp;

 was born on January 26, 1946, to Oliver Bristow and Bessie Lorene

Smithville High School in 1963.

Judy was a lab technician and work
 for Spelman Memorial Hospital in Smithville and retired from Excelsior 
Springs Hospital in Excelsior Springs, MO.

She loved taking care of her flowers and plants and most of all spending time with her friends and family.

 was preceded in death by her husband Roland Kenyon; her parents Oliver

Ronnie Edward Misner, 84 of Kansas City, MO passed away March 25, 2023.

He
 was born on January 10, 1939, to Charley Edward and Leola Mary 
(Cummings) Misner in Gilman City, MO.  Ron grew up in Kansas City and 
graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1957 where he was active
 with football and basketball.  He attended Rockhurst University in 
Kansas City.&nbsp;

On October 10, 1958, he was united in marriage to 
Mary Jo Gordon.  After their marriage they lived in the Kansas City 
north area where they made their home and raised their three children.

Ron
 was active with the North Kansas City Little League Baseball where he 
not only played as a young boy, but he later coached and was an umpire. 
 He enjoyed playing basketball with several leagues until he moved on to
 golf.  Golf was Ron’s true love in sports, if there was a golf course 
in the area, he would find it. 

 Ron was an avid reader, especially 
mystery books, sportsman, movie buff, newspaper reader, beer and food 
connoisseur, and was always up to a good challenge.  In order to keep it
 pristine, he was known for spending hours in his yard.  Ron loved 
making people laugh and most of all he loved being with his family and 
adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents Charley and Leola Misner and granddaughter Ashton Smith.

Ron
 is survived by his wife Mary Jo Misner; Denny (Pam) Misner, Lori 
(Roger) Smith and Marvin Misner; grandchildren Nikki (Todd) Tucker, 
Hannah (Cody) Hopkins, Tina (Mike) Reed, Ian (Jessica) Flynn, and Louis 
Misner; great-grandchildren Lexie, Elsie, Jaxon, Vincent, and Teagan; 
brother Richard (Evelyn) Misner; several nieces, nephews, other 
relatives and many friends.&nbsp;

Mary M. McCubbin, 89, of Atchison, Kansas, died Sunday, March 26, 2023, at Atchison Medicalodge.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. at 
Atchison United Methodist Church with Pastor, Cyd Stein, officiating. 
Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to services at the 
church. 

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to 
Atchison United Methodist Church, Amberwell Hospice and Atchison 
Medicalodge and may be left in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home
 with whom cremation care has been entrusted.

Mary was born May 27, 1933, in Atchison, Kansas, the daughter of 
James Paul and Mabel (Wentz) Maycroft. She attended school in Atchison, 
graduating from Atchison High School.

Mary and Jim McCubbin were united in marriage on June 8, 1952, at the Atchison United Methodist Church.

Mary served as a paraprofessional for many years for USD 409. She was
 a member of the Atchison United Methodist Church; she was a life member
 of the Eastern Star. When her children were in school, she was very 
active in their school activities whether it was PTA or even helping 
with the Girl Scout Cookies.

She enjoyed traveling in their RV, they made many trips over the last
 50 years. She could boast that she had camped in 47 of the lower 
states, they also made it to all the Canadian provinces including Nova 
Scotia. She and her husband Jim spent many years wintering in Texas.

Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Jim McCubbin, four 
daughters, Pam Schwartz, Atchison, KS; Ginny (Mark) Bailey, Atchison, 
KS; Julie (Jeff) Houston, Grain Valley, MO; and Darla McCarver, 
Springfield, MO; and two granddaughters, Nicole (Jeremiah) Schwartz-Eck,
 Maryl Chapman, a great grandson, Cole Eck, bonus grandchildren, Sarah, 
Tanner, Payten and Caroline Houston, and a sister-in-law, Rosie 
Maycroft, Atchison, KS.

graduating from Atchison High School.Mary and Jim McCubbin were united in marriage on June 8, 1952, at the Atchison United Methodist Church.Mary served as a paraprofessional for many years for USD 409. She was
 a member of the Atchison United Methodist Church; she was a life member
 of the Eastern Star. When her children were in school, she was very 
active in their school activities whether it was PTA or even helping 
with the Girl Scout Cookies.She enjoyed traveling in their RV, they made many trips over the last
 50 years. She could boast that she had camped in 47 of the lower 
states, they also made it to all the Canadian provinces including Nova 
Scotia. She and her husband Jim spent many years wintering in Texas.Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Jim McCubbin, four 
daughters, Pam Schwartz, Atchison, KS; Ginny (Mark) Bailey, Atchison, 
KS; Julie (Jeff) Houston, Grain Valley, MO; and Darla McCarver, 
Springfield, MO; and two granddaughters, Nicole (Jeremiah) Schwartz-Eck,
 Maryl Chapman, a great grandson, Cole Eck, bonus grandchildren, Sarah, 
Tanner, Payten and Caroline Houston, and a sister-in-law, Rosie 
Maycroft, Atchison, KS.She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons-in-law, Dr. Jack 
Chapman, Jack McCarver, three brothers, Edwin Maycroft, Raymond 
Maycroft, and Roscoe Maycroft, a sister Martha Rawson.
