Merna Kay Reynolds, 81, formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, December 4, 2023.
She was born on April 2, 1942, in Stanberry, Missouri to Perry A. Marsh and Jessie P. Ballard.
Merna married Charles Gene Reynolds in 1961, and they were together for 42 years before he passed away on April 13, 2003.
Merna worked as a nurse for a state hospital for 18 years before transitioning to a position with a group home for the mentally disabled as a “house mother”. Her caring and nurturing personality was evident throughout her career.
She served as a troop leader for her son Anthony’s Boy Scout troop. Merna was known for taking in the “broken and discarded” and loving them as her own. She was a devoted mother, wife and grandmother. She loved playing with her grandchildren. She enjoyed listening to Pink Floyd and engaging in intellectual conversations with those around her.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, her parents, and her husband.
Survivors include her children, Anthony Reynolds, Shane Reynolds and Toshia Law, 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, brother, Edson Marsh, and numerous extended family members.
