Rita Smith, 74, of Holt Missouri passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023 surrounded by friends and family.Rita was born on March 17, 1949 to Marion and Ila (Randall) Spencer in St. Louis, Missouri. On June 10, 1967, she was united in marriage to Larry Eugene Smith in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He preceded her in death on May 24, 2006. In addition to her husband, Rita was preceded in death by her parents Marion (Pete) and Ila Spencer, son Chris Smith, and brothers Harold and Lloyd Spencer. Rita is survived by her daughter Lisa Crookshanks of St. Joe Missouri, grandchildren Selina Smith of Platte City Missouri and Jay Crookshanks of Smithville Missouri, and great-grandchildren Cayden, Kendall, and Jayde Crookshanks, brother Jack Spencer of Poplar Bluff Missouri, sisters Reba (Eldon) Smothers of Little Rock Arkansas and Ruby Moore of Amboy Illinois and several nieces and nephews. Rita had a couple of different trades over the years but most years were spent in the food service industry. After retiring Rita enjoyed crafting, playing cards, cooking, sewing, gardening, fishing, and feeding the birds and animals.A Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023 from 5-7 p.m. at the Rollins Funeral Home in Platte City, MO. followed by a funeral service at 7 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. A Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at noon at the McSpadden Funeral Home in Ellsinore, MO. followed by a graveside service at 2:00 p.m. in the Smith Chapel Cemetery in Ellsinore, MO.
