She was born on August 28, 1942, to Alice (Mignery) and Thomas Gallant in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Clara was a member of her local dart league and enjoyed bowling and shooting pool in her younger years. She enjoyed reading, gardening and she loved her cats.

She had a caring heart and tried to help everyone as best as she could.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Lawrence Sherer; second husband, Milo “Bud” Kilgore; significant other of 30 years, Stephen Brownlee; and her siblings, Jerry and Alvin Gallant and Claudia Fish.

Survivors include her daughters, Dena Sherer (Dustin), Stephanie McGarry (John), and Carla Squires (David); grandchildren, Thomas Williams, Kenton Sherer, David Squires, Darden Sherer, and Ryan McGarry; great-grandchildren, Kindreanna, Nathan, Aryan, Jocelyn and Gracie; her siblings, Carol Russell, Mary McCune, and Emile Gallant; and nieces and nephews.

He was born July 4, 1930 in St. Joseph, to Walter and Ruth (Bristow) Randall.

Walter married Alison Hegarty in 1957. She survives of the home.

He was president of 1st Trust Bank in St. Joseph for 40 years, while also being very active in the community.

He loved to golf, and enjoyed trips to Estes Park, Colorado, and Vero Beach, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Marcia Fuqua.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Alison; children, Beth Randall (Bob Cantrell), Walter Ramsay “Randy” Randall, Jr. (Julie), Parke Randall (Jane Walton), and Paul Randall; grandchildren, Ramsay, Brady (Jess), and Jack; sister, Joyce Sone; and beloved dog, Sadie Irene.

Maxine was born on June 29, 1936 around Lancaster, MO to Bert Marvin and Maudie Marie (Crump) Kerby. She was a graduate of Lancaster High School.

On October 9, 1955 Maxine was united in marriage to Edwin Earl Brunk in Lancaster, MO, and they became parents of three children.

Maxine was a homemaker. She was involved with Business Womens for many years. She was a troop leader for the Boy Scouts and a leader for the Girl Scouts organizations when her children were involved. She enjoyed cooking for her family and others. She also enjoyed crocheting, knitting, painting, and many other crafts. Her home was always busy with the numerous children that would tag along with her children and grandchildren.

Proceeded in death was her husband, Edwin Earl Brunk; her parents; her mother-in-law and father-in-law; brothers, Terry Kerby and Joe Kerby; sister, Helen Shepherd; sister-in-law, Rose Kerby; brothers-in-laws, Joe Aviles and Billy Brunk; and grandson, Tye Patrick.

Peggy Jo was born November 12, 1951 in Highland, Kansas to Robert (Bob) and Anita (Neat) (Waggoner) Campbell. She was a lifelong resident of Doniphan County, Kansas and worked most of her life as a waitress.&nbsp;

Peggy Jo married Larry Norris on May 28, 1969 in Fanning, Kansas. He preceded her in death on June 10, 1972. She was also preceded in death by her parents, sisters; Diane Bembrick and Judy Prawl.

Richard E. Dick, 84, of Savannah, MO passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Friday, June 28, 2024. He was born in Forbes, MO on December 30, 1939 to William “Bill” &amp; Viola (Reynolds) Dick. He married Carolyn Armagost at the First Christian Church in Savannah on November 23, 1958 and she preceded him in death in 2020. &nbsp;

Richard was known for his caring and generous spirit, deeply committed to both his family and church community. He was always doing for others, lending a hand whenever needed. He cherished moments spent with loved ones, whether traveling, fishing, deer hunting, tending to his farm, or exploring the wonders of the outdoors. After a dedicated career spanning 37 years with St. Joseph Light &amp; Power, he retired in 2000.&nbsp;

After David graduated from Falls City High School in 1965, he served in the Army National Guard for 8 years.

While in the Guard he worked for Gibson's International Equipment. In 1981, he began working for Derr Equipment totaling 58 years of service as an International Harvester mechanic.

In 1981, David married Karen Voltmer Russell in Craig, MO. David and Karen went on to raise 5 children.&nbsp;

David enjoyed hunting, but always made it a priority to spend time with and loving on his grandkids.&nbsp;

He loved to watch them compete in sporting events and enjoying a meal afterwards to remind them what is really important....Family.

David was preceded in death by his parents and brother Gerald. &nbsp;

Jona Vonne Fosher Harrington, 75, of St. Joseph, MO., passed away Sunday, June 30, 2024. She was born October 13, 1948, in St. Joseph, Mo to William Leo “Bill” and Emma Lea (Hesenflow) Fosher.

Jona grew up in Grayson, graduating from Gower High School in 1966. She attended Northwest Missouri State University and graduated from Missouri Western College in 1970 with a B.A. in English. She earned a Master of Arts degree in Management from the University of Redlands in Redlands CA in 1982. Jona was an English teacher at Plattsburg, MO high school for 6 years. She and Jerry owned Encinitas Stationers, an office supply store, in California for 15 years. She also worked as a realtor for Coldwell Banker. She was a member of Soroptimist International.

She was united in marriage to Edward Jerry Harrington (Jr.) on April 20, 1973. After their marriage they made their home in St. Joseph for several years before moving to Indianapolis in 1976, Philadelphia in 1977, and California in 1979. They returned to St. Joseph 3 years ago.

Jona is survived by her husband, Jerry of the home; sister, Dara Lea Fosher; sister-in-law, Janell Sonnenmoser (Mark); brother-in-law, Ben Harrington (Terry); several nieces and nephews as well as grand nieces and nephews.

He was a pilot for Raytheon for many years in Rockford, Illinois.

Scott loved to work on computers and play Slot-O-Mania, Pet Rescue and Angry Birds on Facebook.

Family was very important to Scott, and he loved to spend time with the kids and grandkids.

He was a strong man who cherished his independence and taking care of things himself, especially around the house. He also had a wicked sense of humor, which kept him going as he battled illnesses.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Kristin Nava.

Survivors include his children, Scott Schneider II (Monica), and Heather Mitchell (William); grandchildren, Rebekah, Mykal, Markus, Madison, Cody and Matthew; great-grandson, Nathanael; other extended family members and friends.

Darrell Dewayne Noble, 59, of Kansas City, MO passed away on Sunday June 16, 2024. Darrell was born on April 14, 1965 to B.A. Noble and Caroline Sue Roberts in Harrisonville, MO. 

He met his soulmate, Evonne Duncan, when he was16 years old. He graduated from Plattsburg High School on 1984.On June 21, 1985 Darrell and Evonne were united in marriage. Darrell Dewayne Noble, 59, of Kansas City, MO passed away on Sunday June 16, 2024. Darrell was born on April 14, 1965 to B.A. Noble and Caroline Sue Roberts in Harrisonville, MO. He met his soulmate, Evonne Duncan, when he was16 years old. He graduated from Plattsburg High School on 1984.On June 21, 1985 Darrell and Evonne were united in marriage. Darrell was a loving father of 3, and the best Papa to 6 grandchildren. John Bravo 73, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2024 in St. Joseph. He was born February 22, 1951 in St. Joseph, son of Manuela and John Bravo. 

He graduated from Christian Brothers High School, class of 1969, and Fellowship Baptist College in Peoria, IL, class of 1985. Following Seminary, he worked as a Baptist Minister for several years in Streeter, IL. He married Karen Caton on June 13, 1969. 

John worked as a Guard at WRDCC, retiring as a Lieutenant. He was a member of the former Bible Baptist Temple. He loved fishing and shooting guns. John was also a former CCW Instructor. He enjoyed working on cars, spending time with his grandchildren, and tending to his fruit trees. 

John was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Karen Bravo.

 Survivors include: children, Stacey (Bruce) Green, John "Boog" (Samantha) Bravo II, and David Bravo, sisters, Patricia Hutchinson and Phyllis Smith, all of St. Joseph, brother, Joe (Peggy) Bravo of Fort Calhoun, NE, grandchildren, Rachael (Kody) Pfleiderer, Myranda and Alexander Hellerich, Anika, Carter, and Josie Bravo, Morgan Lollar, and great-grandchildren, Rownen Dunham and Boston Pfleiderer.

Iris L. Simpkins, 77, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2024 at her home. She was born September 15, 1946 in St. Joseph, daughter of Cordelia and Nelson "Bud" Downey. 

She graduated from Benton High School, class of 1964. Iris was a Charter Member of Community Christian Church, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and with Vacation Bible School. Growing up, Iris enjoyed playing all kinds of sports, particularly softball, where she excelled in pitching. 

On June 14, 1969, she married Russell Simpkins of Marceline, MO at Community Christian Church. In her younger years, she enjoyed farm life, gardening and canning. Iris was an amazing cook and loved fixing dinners for her family and her grandchildren especially looked forward to her Sunday Dinners. She retired as a cook with the St. Joseph School District. Iris loved spending Saturdays watching College Football. She knew who Patrick Mahomes was before anyone else. 

She also was an avid Chiefs fan.  She loved her family and the time she spent with them. She loved attending her children and grandchildren's sports games and was their biggest cheerleader and supporter. 

Iris was preceded in death by her parents, and mother-in-law, Dorothy Simpkins. 

Survivors include: husband, Russell Simpkins of the home, and they were blessed with 4 children, Kent (Dana) Simpkins of St. Joseph, Kyle (Dana) Simpkins of Helena, MO, Megan (Ryan) Geiler of St. Joseph, and Melissa Green of Dearborn, MO, sister, Rebecca (Harold) Stewart of St. Joseph, 9 grandchildren, Blake, Taylor, Addison, Alexandria, Tatum Grace, Donovan, Nathaniel, and Landen.

She was born on December 4, 1941, to John and Anita (Miller) Spicer in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Kay graduated from Savannah High School and later attended Platt-Gard Business College.

She worked for Cameron Mutual Insurance in Cameron, Missouri as an administrative assistant for over twenty years.

Kay enjoyed serving and helping others, playing Scrabble with her friends, and watching live music – she especially loved watching her friend Cecilio perform.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Gary and Gale Spicer.

Survivors include her daughters, Brandy Shaban and Wendy Green (Glenn); granddaughter, Lucy Kay Green; her best friend, Charla Moore; her puppy, Pumpkin; and numerous other family members, friends and neighbors who will miss her dearly.

Bernard Lynn Rath, 77, of Elmira, Oregon, passed away peacefully at home on June 24, 2024.

Bernard was born February 22, 1947, to Maurice and Darline Rath in Aurora, NE and grew up in Harvard, Nebraska. He graduated from Harvard High School in 1965 and then attended Kearney State College, majoring in Industrial Arts.

Bernard married Shirleen Kay Colwell on November 24, 1967. They were blessed with two sons, Daniel Lynn and Randy Alan. Bernard was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1968 and served in Viet Nam. He was seriously wounded in January 1969, earning the Purple Heart medal.

They moved to Savannah, Missouri where they built their own home. Bernard was an active member, including Commander, of the Disabled American Veterans in St. Joseph, MO and was a lifetime member of the VFW. He belonged to the NRA, a local rock hounding group and the Silver &amp; Gold Senior Club in St Joseph. They enjoyed traveling across America until Shirleen’s death in 2016.

Bernard later moved to Oregon and married Dee Ann Inman on April 17, 2021. They enjoyed treasure hunting at garage sales and were avid collectors of unique rocks. Gardening was also a lifelong passion; he especially enjoyed sharing stories with everyone. They also cared for each other through various medical issues during their short time together.

Bernard is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Shirleen, and their son Daniel Rath.

Survivors include his wife Dee Ann; son, Randy Rath, St. Joseph, Mo; brothers Clifford Rath (Mary), Dallas, TX; Gary Rath (Kathy), Aurora, NE; sister Vicki Parker (Darrell) of Veneta, OR; stepdaughters Lee Ballard (Jeffrey), Heidi Wilson (Mark), stepsons Ray Hoover (Karen) and Jake Inman (Jennifer), many nieces and nephews and numerous other relatives and friends.

ONAGA – John D. Grossnickle, 92, of Onaga, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at the Onaga Health and Rehabilitation Center. &nbsp;

He was born April 4, 1932, at Onaga, the son of Glenn and Kathleen Doyle Grossnickle. He graduated from Onaga High School in 1950.

After high school John worked for the Railroad before being drafted into the U.S. Army, and serving during the Korean War. After being discharged from the Army he returned to the Railroad for a short time, then worked for Dupont and later Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Topeka. After studying about computers in the library, he got a job as a computer programmer with Shawnee County and worked there for many years. &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;

John was a member of the First Congregational Church, UCC in Onaga and Onaga Lodge No. 188, A.F.&amp;A.M. &nbsp;He was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 71, in Onaga, until it disbanded. &nbsp;He currently was a member of the Mayetta Chapter 383 of the Order of Eastern Star.

He married Elvina Thompson on May 4, 1951 in Onaga. She survives, of the home.

John was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Glenn Grossnickle, and two sisters, Jean Ridgeway and LaVon Flowers.

Other survivors include two sons, Daniel Grossnickle and Rodney Grossnickle (Lisa), all of Onaga, a daughter, Stephanie Buhrer (Wayne), Houston, two brothers, Ronnie Grossnickle (Loralea), Corning and Thomas Grossnickle (Shirley), in Oregon, two grandsons, Christopher Buhrer (Casey) and Brian Buhrer (Samantha), two step-granddaughters, London Lyons and Larissa Lyons, and two great grandsons.

Joseph Stehr, 67, of St. Joseph, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2024.

Joseph was born November 18, 1956 to Gregory and Frances Stehr in Nuremberg, Germany. He graduated from Bishop LeBlond High School and attended Missouri Western State University. &nbsp;

Joseph loved science and Star Wars. His favorite holidays were Christmas and the 4th of July. He had a very kind heart.

Joseph Stehr, 67, of St. Joseph, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2024.Joseph was born November 18, 1956 to Gregory and Frances Stehr in Nuremberg, Germany. He graduated from Bishop LeBlond High School and attended Missouri Western State University. &nbsp;Joseph loved science and Star Wars. His favorite holidays were Christmas and the 4th of July. He had a very kind heart.Joseph was preceded in death by his parents. Joseph Stehr 1956 - 2024

King City, MO: Arleta Pulley, 88, of King City, MO passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at a King City care center.

She was born October 5, 1935 on a farm in the Empire Prairie area the daughter of Lewis and Lorene (Cook) Burke.

On June 24, 1956, Arleta married Richard Pulley at the Star Chapel Church. Arleta graduated from King City High School and went to Northwest Missouri State College for business training. She later obtained her Bachelor’s Degree from Missouri Western State College. She also obtained a Masters Degree from Northwest Missouri State University. Arleta taught a year at King City R-1 before teaching Chapter 1 Reading and Math for 9 years for the Blue Hill Home Corporation. She traveled to schools throughout Northwest Missouri in an RV classroom on wheels equipped with computers and other educational resources. She also taught at the King City-Union Star Preschool for 5 years.

Arleta put her faith and trust in God at a young age and this was evident in her life, in her involvement and in her service at the First Christian Church. She loved her family dearly and always looked forward to the holidays with family get- togethers and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Arleta was involved in many King City area community organizations and activities including DAR, CWF, H.O.P.E. summer reading program and the Tri-County Living History Museum.

She loved music and over the years, played the organ and piano. She gave piano lessons to many youth in the King City community.

Arleta loved traveling. She went on many trips through the U.S., trips to London and Switzerland, as well as outings with the First Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Marion Burke.

Arleta is survived by her loving husband, Richard; sons, Randall (Janet) Pulley of St. Joseph, MO, John (Chris) Pulley of St. Charles, MO and Dan (Julie) Pulley of Fenton, MO; daughter, Judy (Kelvin) Hawkins of King City, MO. Richard and Arleta were also blessed with nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 1, at the First Christian Church, King City, MO under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, King City, MO. Burial will follow in the King City Cemetery, King City, MO. The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the church.

Charles Hugh McComb, 70, Maryville, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2024.

He was born April 22, 1954 in Fairfax, Missouri, to Charles Hughes McComb, Jr. and Betty Ann (Wilson) McComb.

Charles married Ramona June Herbert on June 12, 1976. She survives of the home.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Ramona; his sons, Jason McComb (Jenny) and Joshua McComb (Laura); four grandchildren, Juniper, Quinn, Tate and Asher; and sister, Margaret “Margie” Bragg.

Robert Keith Jackson, 61, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, June 24, 2024.

He was born on January 18, 1963, to Frank Sr. and Elaine Jackson in San Antonio, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Jerome (Jerry) Jackson.

Survivors include his brother, Frank (Sharon) Jackson, and numerous family members.

Sharon Bosworth, 84, of Smithville, MO passed away, June 25, 2024 at her home.

She was born on August 1, 1939 to Earl Jackson and Iona Marie (Turner) Rector in Arkansas City, Kansas where she grew up. Sharon attended Topeka High School. She later received bachelor’s degree in nursing.

On November 17, 1956 she was united in marriage to Jesse Bosworth. After their marriage they lived in Gladstone, and in 1988 they moved to Smithville where they made their home.

She was a registered nurse and worked at several hospitals and nursing homes in the area. After her retirement, she volunteered at St. Luke’s Northland Hospital and the polling booths during the elections. Sharon enjoyed shopping, painting, ceramics, embroidery, playing bingo and jigsaw puzzles.

She was preceded in death by parents, her son, Richard Bosworth, and granddaughter, Kelly.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Jess; son, Dale (Victoria) Bosworth; daughter, Vicki Pruett; six grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter; brother-in-law, Jerry Bosworth; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Post; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 2nd at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home in Smithville with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Sharon Bosworth 1939 - 2024

Chester Eugene Long, 97, of Dearborn, MO passed away June 25, 2024.

He was born on January 1, 1927, to Delpha (Bailey) Long in Marshall, MO where he grew up and attended school. He served his country in the U.S. Navy where he served in WWII. After his honorable discharge he returned to Marshall, Missouri where he completed high school. Gene then received his bachelor’s degree in agriculture from the University of Missouri, in Columbia.

On February 19, 1948, he was united in marriage to Emogene Patchin. After their marriage they lived in Columbia, MO, Rock Port, MO and in 1953 they returned to the family farm near Dearborn, MO where they made their home. Emogene passed away on May 4, 2011.

He was a member of the Dearborn United Methodist Church. Gene was also a member of the Platte County Steam and Gas Association and the Edgerton American Legion Post #445.

Gene loved farming, John Deere Tractors and all animals especially cats. He also enjoyed fishing and deer hunting with his buddies.

He was preceded in death by his wife Emogene Long; his parents Allan and Delpha Kriesel; and his brother Eldon Kriesel.

Gene is survived by his daughter, Patricia Long, Kansas City, MO; brother Ronnie Kriesel; sister Betty Cornine; several nieces and nephews and many loving friends.

Visitation: 12:30-2:00 p.m. with Funeral Services at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 28th at the Dearborn United Methodist Church.

Burial with Military Honors at Dearborn Cemetery.
