Adelaide Grace (Bell) Widman, aged 98, formerly of Hiawatha KS, died July 9, 2024 at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha KS where she had been a resident the past few years. Adelaide was born in Oneida KS on October 30, 1925 to Ernest Roy Bell and Ethel Ruth (Cooper) Bell. She grew up on a farm near Oneida, and in 1941 at age 15, she moved with her family to Hiawatha. Adelaide graduated from Hiawatha High School in 1943.

Adelaide was married to Stanley Lee Widman of Hiawatha on March 5, 1945. To this union, five children were born. She and Stanley divorced in 1980. He died November 6, 2010.

As a military wife, she and her husband lived in Amarillo TX, Albuquerque NM, and Roswell NM. She also lived in Oskaloosa IA for two years in the early 1960s. Adelaide, Stanley, and their four children moved back to Hiawatha where they owned and operated the Hiawatha Laundry for ten years. &nbsp;

Survivors include her daughter, Janice Smith, of Hiawatha; sons Duane (Connie) Widman of Topeka KS, and Darwin Widman of Overland Park KS; three grandchildren, Jerad (Micaela) Widman of Olathe KS, James (Rachel) Widman of Topeka KS, and Karla (Erin) Smith-Specht of Hiawatha; and 19 great-grandchildren. &nbsp;

Adelaide was preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Alton, Howard, Edwin, Darrel and Garth Bell; a sister Helen Irene Weidman; and sons Galen (in infancy) and David Widman.&nbsp;

Services are planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, Hiawatha, with Shane Spangler officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Friday. &nbsp;The family will meet with friends one hour prior to services Saturday.

William “Herb” Herbert Nease, 81 of Fillmore, MO passed away July 9, 2024 at his home near Fillmore. He was born April 27, 1943 in St. Joseph, MO to William “Bill” &amp; Ethel (Hershaw) Nease. He married Trudy Pittman in Oregon, MO on December 24, 1990 and she survives of the home. &nbsp;

Herb was a passionate farmer and loved working the land and raising livestock alongside his wife Trudy. Together they enjoyed travel all over the world, attended countless auctions in search of antiques and lived winter months at their home in Harlingen, TX. Herb also loved his dog "Pazlee" affectionately referring to her as "Mutt". &nbsp;

Survivors include his wife, Trudy Nease of the home; children, Travis Nease of Liberty, MO, Troy Nease of Fillmore, Troy (Angie) Pittman and Lynne Pittman both of Savannah, MO; grandchildren, Ryan (Rachel) James, Tara (Alex) Batty, Kinsley (Ben) Pister, Kirk Pittman (JoLynn), Amaris DeLong, Curran DeLong, and 11 great-grandchildren. Donna Lee (Miller) Hilton, 89, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2024.

She was born October 30, 1934 in Agency, Missouri to Thomas and Viola (Wheeler) Hutchison.

Donna married Douglas Stuart Hilton on June 6, 1983. He survives of the home.

Donna loved Doug, her three girls and their families very much. She loved spending time with all of her family. She enjoyed the many vacations she and Douglas took, and working among the flower gardens at their home.

She was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother, and will be missed by all. She will forever be in their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John Hutchison and Thomas Hutchison, Jr.; sisters, Beverly Schweder and Phyllis Wallace; and father of her children, Lindell Lloyd Miller.

Robert “Bob” Carl Stuebs, 77 years old, of Atchison, KS, died peacefully at his home from complications of cancer on July 7th, 2024; surrounded by love from his devoted wife of 56 years Angela Coleen (Clites) Stuebs, as well as many family members and friends.

Bob was born in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin on October 14,1946, to Ralph and Marie (Peterson) Stuebs and was a beloved brother to ten siblings: Ronald, Ralph, William, Bonnie, Patricia, Elaine, Darrell, Carol, Roger, and Penny. Bob took great pride in being a parent to his children: Dee Munsen (husband Bill), Troy Stuebs (wife Cindy), Misty Stuebs, Bobbie Jo Stuebs, and his granddaughter who he adopted Savannah Stuebs. He was a loving grandfather to an additional thirteen grandchildren: Dustin, Nicole, Kaleb, Josh, Colin, Chance, Micah, Abigail, Jack, Quinn, Rhys, Bo, and Darby; and great grandfather to Willow and William, who all dearly miss him and the life lessons he imparted on them. He also helped many children in need by serving as foster parent.

He proudly served his country as a member of the United State Air Force earning the rank of Sargeant before his honorable discharge in 1970. He then went on to earn his bachelor’s degree at Emporia State University before embarking on his career of teaching Industrial Arts at the Bert Nash School in Atchison, KS.

Bob took to the woods at an early age, he was an avid outdoorsman and hunter who shared his passion with his family and friends. He enjoyed teaching hunters’ safety and promoting the virtues of hunting. He took pride in being a man of his word, trusted friend, and lived his life by these principals.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Roger Stuebs.

He was of the Christian faith and had previously worked for the St. Joseph News-Press.

She was born on January 25, 1956 in Great Bend, Kansas.

She was united in marriage to Tony Lee Hoecker on October 16, 2010.

Debbie enjoyed camping with her husband, cooking, and arts &amp; crafts. She was of Christian faith and enjoyed visiting the different church denominations and their various traditions.

Debbie was very sociable and never met a stranger. She was a loving, selfless woman who went out of her way to help others. She was well loved by everyone who knew her, and she was very protective of her loved ones. She had a strong connection with her beloved children, and above all cherished spending time with them and her grandchildren.

She had a contagious smile, with the best sense of humor. She enjoyed pushing buttons and being ornery with her family. Those who knew and loved Debbie will cherish the special memories they shared with her and will continue to honor her memory.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Verla Boyd; her brother, John Sheldon; and grandson, Zachary Brookshire.

Larry Keith “Uncle Larry” Wathen, 73, of Lathrop Missouri died Monday July 8, 2024, at Liberty Hospital. Born on March 12, 1951, in Gallatin Missouri to Harmon F. and Edna M. (Brown) Wathen. &nbsp;

Larry was a proud veteran of the United States Navy where he served over 20 plus years. After retirement from the Navy, he worked as a truck driver. Uncle Larry was a member of the VFW. &nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Bernice Davis and brother Denver Wathen. &nbsp;

Survivors include his brothers Donnie and Robert Wathen; sisters Shirley Justus, Rosalee Justus and Josephine Moorehouse; and his nieces and nephews. &nbsp;

James Howard Jackson, SewWishKno, 70, of Mayetta, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2024 at his home on the Prairie Band Potawatomi Reservation.

He was born September 11, 1953 in Oklahoma City, the son of Robert and Lorene Alexander Jackson.

James was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation and the Drum Religion. He had served on the Tribal Council from 1996 to 2000.

He worked in construction in the Jackson and Shawnee County area, doing dry wall finishing and all other types of construction.

He married Judy Faith Carlisle on February 5, 1975. &nbsp;She survives, of the home.

James was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Justina “Tommie” Jackson, a granddaughter, Yolanda Solis, two brothers, Mike Jackson and Johnny Jackson, and two sisters, Linda Jackson and Roberta Jackson.

Other survivors include his adopted father, Ed Potts, Mayetta, two sons, Jason Jackson (Lindsey) and Justin Jackson (Stephanie), all of Topeka, two daughters, Jennifer Jackson, Mayetta and Felicia Brown, Denver, CO, four sisters, Evelyn Seymour, Lucy Jackson and Janice Jackson, all of Topeka, and Beverly Goslin (Doug), Mayetta, an adopted brother, Benny Potts, Mayetta, two adopted sisters, Judith Wabaunsee, Topeka and Rose Hale, Mayetta, fifteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

James Howard Jackson 1953 - 2024

Nathan Eugene Terry, age 91, was born April 4th, 1933 in Odessa, MO., the son of Cyrus Eugene Terry and Willa Mae Terry (Hunt).

Nathan passed away peacefully July 8, 2024, while living in the Pleasant Valley Manor Care Center with his wife Della, of 70 years, and also cared for by his children; daughters Diana Delores Odehnal and Linda Joy Burlison, and son Daniel Eugene Terry.

In 1951, Nathan graduated from High School in Mound City, MO, where the family had moved when he was 5 years old. During this time, he began developing his love of country music, and formed his first band the “Squaw Creek Ramblers”.&nbsp;

In 1953, Nathan was drafted and served in the U.S. Army, based at Fort Bliss, and later at White Sands, Arizona as part of a guided missile crew.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was honorably discharged in 1955. During his military service on leave, he met Della Farr at the Kansas City Baptist Temple, and they married on July 24, 1954. After his discharge in 1955, they briefly lived in Kansas City, before leaving for Omaha –&nbsp;&nbsp;where Nathan attended Grace Bible Institute. He graduated in 1960 with his B.S. in Theology. After moving back to the Kansas City area, Nathan worked at various jobs until he began working for the U.S. Post Office in 1961 – until he retired 31 years later.

Nathan was a Christian, and deeply devoted to Bible truth. Nathan’s early years led him to passions with his music and fishing. He played guitar and ‘jammed’ with his friends as much as possible. Nathan Eugene Terry, age 91, was born April 4th, 1933 in Odessa, MO., the son of Cyrus Eugene Terry and Willa Mae Terry (Hunt).Nathan passed away peacefully July 8, 2024, while living in the Pleasant Valley Manor Care Center with his wife Della, of 70 years, and also cared for by his children; daughters Diana Delores Odehnal and Linda Joy Burlison, and son Daniel Eugene Terry.In 1951, Nathan graduated from High School in Mound City, MO, where the family had moved when he was 5 years old. During this time, he began developing his love of country music, and formed his first band the “Squaw Creek Ramblers”.&nbsp;In 1953, Nathan was drafted and served in the U.S. Army, based at Fort Bliss, and later at White Sands, Arizona as part of a guided missile crew.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was honorably discharged in 1955. During his military service on leave, he met Della Farr at the Kansas City Baptist Temple, and they married on July 24, 1954. After his discharge in 1955, they briefly lived in Kansas City, before leaving for Omaha –&nbsp;&nbsp;where Nathan attended Grace Bible Institute. He graduated in 1960 with his B.S. in Theology. After moving back to the Kansas City area, Nathan worked at various jobs until he began working for the U.S. Post Office in 1961 – until he retired 31 years later.Nathan was a Christian, and deeply devoted to Bible truth. Nathan’s early years led him to passions with his music and fishing. He played guitar and ‘jammed’ with his friends as much as possible. Joe Skaggs, 22, of Dearborn, MO passed away, July 7, 2024.

He was born on May 19, 2002 in Kansas City, MO. Joe grew up in Dearborn and graduated from Mid-Buchanan High School in 2020.

He worked for Brooner Crane and Construction. Joe loved hunting, fishing, his 69 Ford Truck, and tractors.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Launa Hass; great-grandparents, Donald and Lola Skaggs and Carl, Sr and Elaine Hass; aunt Michelle Hass; and his best friend, J.D. Partridge.

Barbara Jean Lemley, 72, of St. Joseph, MO, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2024 in St. Joseph. She was born May 27, 1952 in Honolulu, HI, daughter of the late Edna and James Shipley. 

She graduated from Shawnee Mission Northwest. Barbara worked at Buchanan County News as an Editor &amp; Feature Writer and at Mid Buchanan as a Computer Tech Aid. She enjoyed cooking, geneology, going to the zoo and museums, and was a member of the St. Joseph Museum Association and Zoological Society. 

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ronald K. Lemley, and grandson, Dylan Kekai Ching.

Patricia Jeanette Barnard, 92, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Monday, July 8, 2024 at a local health care center. She was born April 10, 1932 in Wathena, KS, daughter of Lois Shank and Howard Keith.

Brian Hughes, 66, a life-long resident of St. Joseph, Mo died at his home on July 8, 2024.

Brian was born on June 1, 1958 in St. Joseph to Bill and Awyn Hughes. He graduated from Central High School in 1976.

Brian and his father operated Hughes Mobile Home Service for many of his working years.

Brian was very handy and worked for Wilbert Vault Company and eventually retired from the Missouri Western State University maintenance team.

Brian was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, camping, and fishing with his sons. He lived for hosting his family and friends for happy hour on his tree-lined acreage, which he was very proud of.

Brian is survived by his two sons, Gregory (Robin) and Scott, and their mother, Jane Hughes; his sister, Brenda (Avery) Murray; grandson Owen Hughes and granddaughter Natalie Hughes.

He is preceded in death by his father Bill Hughes and mother Awyn Hughes.

Greg and Scott would especially like to thank Jane Hughes, caretaker Damon Bleazard, neighbors Stan and Donita Sunderland, Danny Coker, and Freudenthal Hospice for helping to support Brian.

Elizabeth married Mark Eugene Graf on October 19, 1996. He survives of the home.

Mark Snyder, 45, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away after nearly a two-year battle with cancer on Thursday, July 4, 2024.

He was born on March 26, 1979, to Dennis and Jane (Hyder) Snyder in St. Joseph, Missouri.

He graduated from Savannah High School in 1997. During high school he was an active member of the FFA and the varsity basketball team. He was also a member of the Savannah First Christian Church.

Mark was an only child who was deeply loved, and sometimes spoiled, by his devoted parents.

Mark had a love of racing that started back in his childhood when he would race go-karts with his family. He attended the Knoxville Nationals for 39 years straight. This passion continued into his adult life and expanded to racing sprint cars and modifieds at Savannah Speedway. Mark eventually became a partner for Porter Racing.

He was an avid outdoorsman, finding joy in duck and deer hunting and fishing. He was also a sports fan with a particular fondness for the Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas City Royals, and Nascar races.

Mark’s greatest love in life was his longtime partner, Ryann Owens, who survives of the home. For 20 years, they shared countless adventures and treasured memories together. His favorite vacation destinations were Florida and Colorado.

He worked for Anderson Ford as a service manager for 20 years, where he made many friends and connections with the people he helped to serve.

After his cancer diagnosis, Mark sought treatment at KU Medical Center. He greatly appreciated the staff and special nurses there who cared for him and treated him like family. His loved ones wish to express their gratitude to the dedicated staff at KU for their loving kindness and care that was given to Mark during his treatment.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Francis Hyder and Gladys Greenawalt, and his paternal grandparents, Bill and Norma “Tillie” Snyder.

Survivors include his parents, Dennis and Jane Snyder; his devoted partner, Ryann Owens; his aunts, Debra Snyder and Judy Carter (Steve); first cousins, Michael Ditamore and Stephen Ditamore (Maribeth); his beloved dogs, Rico, Boss and Leo; and many extended friends and family members that will cherish their memories of Mark.

Franklin was born August 1, 1932, to Tom and Mable Hess of St. Joseph, Missouri.

On April 22, 1950, he married the love of his life, Hester C. Smither, and she still remains of the home.

For most of his life, he was self-employed doing what he loved, being a mechanic and working with his dump truck, his John Deere tractors, backhoe, and working in the garden.

He spent many years being an evangelist and was an independent preacher. He loved playing his guitar and singing.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Mable Hess; his daughter, Shelia; his son, Craig; and six siblings.

He is survived by his sister, Virginia Stull (Bill) of Elwood, KS; his sons, Steve Hess Sr. (Chris) of Amazonia, MO and Tim Hess (Pam) of Cape Coral, FL; grandchildren, Steve Hess Jr. (Tabatha) of Plattsburg, MO; Shannon Hess (Jennifer) of Amazonia, MO; Sharlene McMillian (Jimmy) of Plattsburg, MO; Seth Hess (Amber) of Amazonia, MO; and many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and other extended family.

Rev. Franklin Hess 1932 - 2024

Ronald Edmond Lathrop, Sr. went home to be with Jesus Wednesday, July 3, 2024 surrounded by friends and family.

Ron Lathrop was born on February 20, 1943 to parents Dale Edmund and Lillian Marie Lathrop of Saint Joseph, Missouri and had two sisters, Janice Lathrop and Marylin Brown.

Ron graduated from Central High School in 1961, and then in 1962, he married his high school sweetheart, Doris Marie Steph. He then enlisted in the Marines, where he served in Vietnam and was then stationed in Cherry Point, North Carolina from 1966 to 1970, ending his service there with the rank of sergeant.

Returning to Saint Joseph, Ron and Doris had two children, Ronald “Ronnie” Lathrop Jr. and Heather Chowning. Ron graduated from Missouri Western State College in 1971 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Programming. Working for Safeway and then Food Barn, Ron retired from the grocery business after 30 years of service and then served as a rural mail carrier for Easton, Missouri for another 20 years.

Ron served in many capacities in several churches throughout his life in New Bern, North Carolina, and Saint Joseph. He was a Sunday School teacher, deacon, church board member, choir member and even custodian. His passion as a Christian was serving others.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Marylin Brown.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Lathrop; son, Ronnie Lathrop (Jeff Vincent); daughter, Heather Chowning (Michael); sister, Janice Lathrop; and grandchildren, James and Emily Chowning, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Everyone who met Ron, loved him. With every dad joke you hear that makes you roll your eyes, with every hardy laugh you catch behind you while eating at Texas Roadhouse, with every Royals win you witness, and with every war movie you accidentally catch on TMC, you’ll remember Ron.

Ronald Edmond Lathrop, Sr. went home to be with Jesus Wednesday, July 3, 2024 surrounded by friends and family.Ron Lathrop was born on February 20, 1943 to parents Dale Edmund and Lillian Marie Lathrop of Saint Joseph, Missouri and had two sisters, Janice Lathrop and Marylin Brown.Ron graduated from Central High School in 1961, and then in 1962, he married his high school sweetheart, Doris Marie Steph. He then enlisted in the Marines, where he served in Vietnam and was then stationed in Cherry Point, North Carolina from 1966 to 1970, ending his service there with the rank of sergeant.Returning to Saint Joseph, Ron and Doris had two children, Ronald “Ronnie” Lathrop Jr. and Heather Chowning. Ron graduated from Missouri Western State College in 1971 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Programming. Working for Safeway and then Food Barn, Ron retired from the grocery business after 30 years of service and then served as a rural mail carrier for Easton, Missouri for another 20 years.Ron served in many capacities in several churches throughout his life in New Bern, North Carolina, and Saint Joseph. He was a Sunday School teacher, deacon, church board member, choir member and even custodian. His passion as a Christian was serving others.He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Marylin Brown.He is survived by his wife, Doris Lathrop; son, Ronnie Lathrop (Jeff Vincent); daughter, Heather Chowning (Michael); sister, Janice Lathrop; and grandchildren, James and Emily Chowning, as well as several nieces and nephews.Everyone who met Ron, loved him. With every dad joke you hear that makes you roll your eyes, with every hardy laugh you catch behind you while eating at Texas Roadhouse, with every Royals win you witness, and with every war movie you accidentally catch on TMC, you’ll remember Ron.Farewell Services 1:00 P.M. Joshua Isaiah Banks, 33, Elwood, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2024.

He was born June 26, 1991 in St. Joseph to Lashel Carpentier and Luther Banks.

Joshua was a very kind-hearted person who would do whatever he could to help others. He loved his family, especially his mother and brother.

He enjoyed watching the Chiefs and playing basketball.

Joshua was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Vearl Webb and Juanita Webb; grandparents, Nita Carpentier, Richard Carpentier, Anna Banks, and Finest Banks; and aunt, Stephany Carpentier.

Survivors include his mother, Lashel Carpentier (Joseph), brother, Christian “C.J.” Banks; aunts and uncles, Jamie Carpentier, Kristian Boydston (Randy), Elizabeth McGuire (Bill), Bryan Liechti (Nicky), and Bonnie White; and numerous cousins.

James was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation and the Drum Religion. &nbsp;He had served on the Tribal Council from 1996 to 2000.

Drum Service and Wake will be held Thursday evening at the Dance Ground Building on the Potawatomi Reservation. &nbsp;Burial will be Friday afternoon in Matwe-Shobney Cemetery. &nbsp;James will lie in state from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Thursday at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hoyt.

Seneca KS………….Dion Rogers, 60 years old, died July 4, 2024, at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka surrounded by family.

Dion was born October 21, 1963, IN Conroe, Texas, born to Marvin and Glenda Blalock Rogers. &nbsp;He grew up in Conroe where he attended school. &nbsp;Dion was no stranger to work as he started working at the Dairy Queen in Conroe at the age of 13. &nbsp;&nbsp;

He later worked as an electrician for twenty years before moving to Seneca in 2004 where he worked as an edger machinist for Koch &amp; Company wood cabinetry until falling ill and unable to work. &nbsp;He also worked at Casey’s General Store in Seneca for about six years while at Koch &amp; Co.&nbsp;

Dion married Cindy Simpson, June 9, 1981. &nbsp;They have been married 43 years where they have made Seneca their home. &nbsp;She survives.

He is also survived by a daughter Stephani Rogers McGehee (Carlos) of Seneca, a son T.J. Alfrey of Georgia; a brother Tony Kelley (Becky) of Livingston, Texas, grandchildren: &nbsp;Katie &amp; Nicky, Savanah, MaKenzie, Ethan, Eli, Jayson, Brianca, with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. &nbsp;Also surviving are his in laws Dorsey and Sandy Simpson OF White Cloud, KS, and his best friend David Rhodes of San Diego, CA. &nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Lisa Blalock, and grandson Blaine Keegan Alfrey. &nbsp;

Cremation is planned with memorial services pending and to be announced in the coming days.

Dion Rogers 1963 - 2024

Robert “Wayne” Sutherland, 73, of Hiawatha, was born August 8, 1950 in the Horton Hospital in Horton, Kansas, one of six children born to Orville and June Gardiner Sutherland. &nbsp;He died July 2, 2024, at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, MO.

Wayne was how he was known to family and friends, lived in Everest, Kansas until 1959 when the family moved to Highland, Kansas. &nbsp;Wayne graduated from Highland High School with the class of 1968. &nbsp;He worked for his father in the newspaper/print shop and attended Highland Junior Community College for a year.

Wayne went on active duty in the Navy in 1969 and served on a supply ship (USS Niagara Falls) supplying the ships stationed in Vietnam with food and ammunition to Cam Ran Vietnam.

His greatest memory was when he was on watch and saw something in the ocean. &nbsp;His commander told him to keep an eye on it. &nbsp;The item turned out to be a distressed boat. &nbsp;They were able to save 3 people &nbsp;that have been missing for a month.

Wayne attended area Vo Tech in Atchison for offset printing where he graduated and continued to work in the printing business. &nbsp;

He married Susan Ernst in 1975. &nbsp;He graduated from Pitt State in 1978 with a degree in Vo Tec Education. &nbsp;He and his wife moved to Kansas City where he continued working in various print shops. &nbsp;He bought and ran an offset printing company for several years before coming back to NE Kansas to take over some printing operations from his father prior to working and retiring from the Green Acres/St. Joseph Newspress.

Wayne loved the KC Royals and no matter what their record was. &nbsp;He spent his retirement spinning records and listing them on EBay.

He is survived by his wife Sue, daughter Renee (Mike), sister DeeAnn, brothers: &nbsp;Mark Sutherland, Jim Sutherland, grandson Rayson (Katie) Johnson, granddaughter Sadie Roberson, with many nieces, nephews and great-grandkids.&nbsp; Also surviving is a sister-in-law Vicki Sutherland.

Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Alan Sutherland and Glenn Sutherland.

Cremation is planned Celebration of Wayne’s life at 1:30 p.m. July 14, 2024 at the Carwell Building at the Brown County Ag Museum and Windmill Lane on East Iowa Street, Hiawatha. To honor Wayne’s love for the Royals, please wear Royals attire or colors.

Robert D Sill, born July 5, 1936, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 8, 2024, at North Kansas City Hospice House with his loving children by his side. He was 87 years old.

Robert (Bob) was born in Boone, IA to the late Cleo N. and Andrea M. (Chastel) Sill. He grew up in Boone, Long Island, NY and settled in St. Joseph, MO where he married Lola E. (Hoffmann) Sill and raised his family. He was preceded in death by his five siblings, Gerald, Betty Rein, Doris Bower, Cleo and Kenneth whom he has been reunited with in heaven, he was a Christian.

Bob enlisted in the United States Army in 1955 to serve his country during the Korean War era and was honorably discharged. He was very humble about being a veteran.

He worked at BNSF railroad as a switchman for 36 years. When he retired, he moved to Henderson, NV where he lived until 2020, when his health required him to move back to Kansas City, Missouri to be closer to family.

He will be lovingly missed by his children; Felecia M. Diggs, James D. Sill, Timothy W. (Amy) Sill, and Craig C. Sill, his grandchildren; Brandalyn Morris, Britney Sill, Paige Sill, Colin Kinnick, Zachary Sill, Benjamin Sill, and his great-grandchildren; Gunnery Drake and Dorian Sill. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families as well as friends in Henderson, NV as well as at Tiffany Springs Senior Living Community.

The family would like to thank North Kansas City Hospital ICU, Cardiac Unit and Hospice House for their kindness and care. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to either St Jude’s or Shriners Children’s Hospital.

Mr. Sill was cremated. Graveside service and inurnment with military rites: Friday, July 5, 2024, 11:00 am, Maple Grove Cemetery, Oregon, Missouri with a Celebration of Life to follow at Chamberlain Funeral Home, Oregon.
