She was born on December 4, 1963, to Gary Frogge and Janice Kay Lippold in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Georgene was a proud graduate of Odessa High School in Odessa, Missouri. Her talent and dedication to her craft led her to further her education at Columbia College, where she studied arts and honed her skills.

Her artistic spirit was not only evident in her academic pursuits but also shone brightly through her professional life. As a fine and talented artist, she achieved the remarkable feat of having one of her batik works displayed in the New York Art Gallery, a testament to her exceptional talent and vision.

In addition to her artistic endeavors, Georgene was a dedicated contract administrator for DST Services, where she was known for her professionalism and keen eye for detail. Georgene's artistic flair was not confined to the canvas; it spilled over into her daily life, earning her numerous accolades in art competitions.

Georgene's love for the country lifestyle was evident in the way she embraced living on the farm. Her passion for animals was profound, and she leaves behind a dog and two cats who will deeply miss her nurturing presence. Her connection with nature extended to her enjoyment of thunderstorms, where she found beauty in the lightning and the night skies.

Halloween was one of Georgene's favorite times of the year, a season that allowed her to express her creativity and joy for life. Her happiness and contentment with life were infectious.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Janice Kay Kelly; her father, Gary Frogge; her sisters Jamie A. Frogge and Stormie Kelly, and her grandparents.

Georgene is survived by her father Richard L. Kelly; stepmother, Carole Kelly; her siblings Gina K. Beverlin (James), Kimberly K. Kelly, and Donald A. Kelly (Jacqueline); her significant other Mark Beggs; her cousin Ellen Sybert and numerous extended family members and friends. A special thanks is extended to Deneice Beggs and Ellen Sybert, whose friendship, loyalty, and kindness to Georgene were unwavering. They were pillars of support and love, always there for her in times of need, and their presence in her life was a source of great comfort and joy.

Lillie Mae Cook, 75, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, April 4, 2025.

She was born March 13, 1950 to the late Raymond and Lucille (Garner) Gelvin in St. Joseph, Missouri. Lillie was a graduate of Benton High School and carried with her the sense of community fostered there throughout her entire life.

In 1988, she embarked on a business venture as a partner in the Dr. Vinyl franchise in Scottsdale, Arizona, alongside her lifelong friends, Wanda and Leroy Pike. Later she co-founded Paws Pet Bakery with close friend Mary Wilegus.

She adored traveling, especially to her favorite retreat, Disney World. Lillie's keen eye for uniqueness led to her successful involvement with the Jesse James Antique Mall, a place that also introduced her to Mike Ceglenski. Together, they shared a beautiful and caring relationship, beginning in 2018.

Her dedication extended into her spiritual life, where she was an engaged member of Grace Calvary Chapel. A philanthropic heart, she was a strong supporter of Friends of the Shelter, reflecting her deep love for animals, especially her devoted canine companion, Bella Sera.

Survivors include her sisters, Linda Newberry, Tracie Webb (Chris) and Kathy Aplin (Jimmy); nieces, Tanya Brower Damon, Leslie Crum (Loren); and cousin, Gary Hart (Joanne).

She was born August 23, 1938 in St. Joseph and graduated from Central High School.

She married Don Bradley on August 7, 1959. They were married 63 years before his death on April 9, 2023.

Juana had a passion for baking and gardening. She enjoyed her fellowship with her friends at Community of Christ Church and singing in the choir.

Family was everything to Juana. She loved spending time with her daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; and her mother, Winnie Tietz.

Survivors include her daughter, Denise Bradley (Dale Taff); grandchildren, Justin Olson (Chrisanna), and Paige Olson (Phil Santiago); and great-grandchildren, Jonas, Jude, and Mary-Therese Olson.

Cherie Sue Crockett, age 71, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 3, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born on April 11, 1953, to Jean and Henry Mattice in Saint Joseph, Missouri.

Cherie graduated from Benton High School and later married the love of her life, Charles “Chuck” Crockett, in December of 1971.

Cherie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her loving heart and beautiful spirit were evident to all who knew her. Cherie’s radiant smile and infectious warmth could light up any room, and she cherished every moment spent with her family. Among her many joys were trips to the beach, traveling, and making lasting memories with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Chuck Crockett; son, Charles Crockett II (Wendy); daughters, Heidi Feiden (Steve) and Ashley Kalin (Scott); 10 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. Cherie is also survived by 3 sisters, 2 brothers, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who were deeply loved by her.

Cherie’s faith was her guiding light, and it brought her peace throughout her life. Her strength and unwavering trust in God were evident in everything she did.

Karen Ann (Smith) Rickel, 67, of Mayetta, passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at her home.

She was born June 5, 1957 in Topeka, the daughter of Allen and Connie Marrs Smith. She graduated from Royal Valley High School in 1975.

Karen had worked at Stormont-Vail Hospital as the Emergency Room Clerk for many years. She later managed the E-Z Shop on Wanamaker in Topeka.

She married Eric W. Rickel on June 9, 1975 in Oskaloosa. He survives, of the home.

She was preceded in death by her father, a great grandson, O’Ryan Rickel, and a brother, Danny Smith.

Other survivors include her mother, Connie Scofield, Holton, a son, Matthew Rickel (Chantel), Vassar, a daughter, Brandi (Rickel) Simpson (Chuck), Melvern, three brothers, Jeff Smith, Effingham, Brad Smith, Holton and Gunnar Smith, two sisters, Marla Brandon, Mayetta and Julie Steuber, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Jeffrey Goodnight, 61, of Edgerton, MO passed away, April 6, 2025.

He was born on December 4, 1963 to Larry and Judith (Shank) Goodnight in Shawnee Mission, KS. Jeff grew up in Shawnee Mission and graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School. He then attended Park University in Parkville, MO where he received his Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and Software Development.

On June 29, 1996 he was united in marriage to Stephanie Foster. After their marriage they lived in Camden Point, MO and resided in Edgerton, MO in the home they built in 2004.

Jeff worked for United Missouri Bank, Social Security Solutions, and T. Roe Price as a software engineer.

He was a member of the Lutheran Church since 1996. Jeff volunteered at the MoKan Volkswagen Club and enjoyed taking rides in his 1970 Volkswagen Bus with his grandkids. Jeff was an avid baseball player and played competitively and recreationally for many years. He enjoyed doing woodworking projects in his shop. Jeff became known as “City Boy” as he transitioned from city life to a hobby farmer and raised sheep, goats, chickens, turkeys, peacocks, horses, and had a love for border collies. But most of all he loved spending time with his grandkids.

Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law, Wanita Foster; and brother-in-law, Randy Foster.

He is survived by his wife, Stephanie; daughter, Rachael (Aaron) Fulk; grandchildren, Isaac and Abigail; brothers, Michael Goodnight and David (Kelli) Goodnight; uncle, Joey Shank; father-in-law, Steve Foster; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, David (Grace) Foster, Tammy (Steve) Manville; nieces and nephews, Jeffrey (Jesica) Goodnight, Josie (Cory) Fitzgerald, Jonathan (Caroline) Goodnight, Kaitlyn Goodnight, Alex Goodnight, Andrea Benson, Andrew Manville, Erin Manville, and Janell Manville; great-nieces and great-nephews, Anna, Landon, Tegan, Jennita, Miraia; other relatives and many friends.

Linda Carol Roberts left her earthly body, after years of struggling with Alzheimer’s disease on April 6, 2025, to join her family in heaven. A Kansas City native of Westport, she was born on November 20, 1961, to Rose Marie Mutter Roberts and Charles William Roberts, Jr.

Best known for her endless empathy, Linda was always the first to help others. Her welcoming smile created connections as she found the perfect way to touch other’s souls. Her devotion to God was only matched by her devotion to her beloved daughters, Audrey Rose and Corrie Jean. She also counted many cats along the way as family.

Linda was a woman of great strength and integrity. Despite life’s challenges, she showed resilience, respect, and compassion for all. Through prayer and seeking God’s will, she chose to see the good around her.

After studying at Penn Valley Community College, Linda worked for 25 years at the Social Security Administration. Adventures along the way included being medivacked out of the Grand Canyon, visiting her sister Barb on the Big Island of Hawaii and closest to her heart, experiencing the religious history of Jerusalem.

Her love of designer fashion and jewelry led to helping others look their best by gifting them her personal shopper skills. Linda modeled how to treat others with respect and dignity including how to write the perfect greeting cards. Her legacy will live on in those she touched as we carry forth her examples of generosity and kindness.

Linda believed in the power of community to heal us and make our lives meaningful. She was especially proud of her 45 years of sobriety which included helping hundreds of single moms recover from domestic abuse. She also was a volunteer for MOCSA and was a member of Harmony Vineyard Church, the Full Faith Church of Love West, and the First Christian Church of Ferrelview.

Linda was predeceased by her parents and sisters Sue Roberts, Mary Roberts, Margaret Roberts, and Barbara Roberts. She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Audrey Rose Roberts and Corrie Jean Roberts; sisters Clare Roberts (Mick Robertson) of Sun City Center, Florida, Patti Roberts (Steve Main) of Naples, Florida, and brother Michael Roberts (Kathy Roberts) of Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

Visitation will be from 11:00 am -12:00 pm with a Celebration of Life Service at 12:00 pm Saturday, April 12th at First Christian Church of Ferrelview, MO.

Linda Carol Roberts 1961 - 2025

Rudolph Fred Hoerl Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri. He was 83 years old.

Rudy was born and raised in Boonville, Missouri, and had a strong Lutheran faith. He graduated high school in 1959 and went on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Army. In 1966, he moved to California, where fate would introduce him to his future wife, Donna Beckwith. Together, they built a life full of love and laughter, sharing 56 devoted years of marriage.

Rudy worked at Allied Signal—now Honeywell—for over 30 years, where he not only found a lifelong career but also met Donna. They raised their two children, Mark Hoerl and Shelley Hoerl, in Redondo Beach, California, and later moved to Smithville, Missouri in 2008.

Rudy enjoyed baseball, football, morning coffee, fishing, long drives, and following politics. He loved the simple pleasures of life—family gatherings, exploring new places, and staying connected with those he loved. He was especially proud of his grandchildren. His love, loyalty, many army stories, and humor touched everyone who knew him. He told Donna every day that he loved her, and his strength and steadfast spirit endured through his final moments.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Hoerl; his children, Mark Hoerl (Wendy) and Shelley Hoerl (Matthew McDaniel); grandchildren Ashley (Dario Brandon) Vega, Muriel, Charles, and Austin; great-grandchild Azalea; sister Susan Hoerl; brothers Mark Hoerl (Sharon) and Donald Hoerl (Lesley); niece Kristen Hoerl; and nephew Kent Hoerl.

Rudy’s life was a testament to hard work, love, and unwavering dedication to family. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the honor of knowing him.

Charles E. Baskins, 81, of Elwood, Kansas passed away Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Charles was born on September 17, 1943, in Elwood, Kansas to Spencer and Joyce (Sanderson) Baskins.

He worked for Armours and Monfort companies. He was a member of the Elwood Fire Department.

Charles married Pamela Hill on January 24, 2012, in Savannah, Missouri. She survives of the home.

Additional survivors: children, Tina Baskins (Kevin), Malinda Wolfing (Rodney), Valorie Hayner (Gary), Amber Hill, Crystal Franke (Kalifornia) and Michael Hill (Kaleigh). Chad was always ready to help others. He was the proud owner of Fulton Construction LLC, EMT, fireman, and first responder. Chad was an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts. He was a friend to everyone he met, and always passionate about helping others. Most of all, he was the most loving father and husband and always made sure to take care of his girls.

Charles Harold Ochse Jr, (Sonny) 90, of Helena, MO passed away Friday, April 4, 2025 in St. Joseph, MO. He was born in St. Joseph on March 24, 1935 to Charles Harold Sr. &amp; Norma Doris (Patton) Ochse. He married Lois Lemasters in St. Joseph, MO on October 19, 1957, they were married for 67 years. Lois passed away in February of 2025.

Charles began working at Swift &amp; Company in St. Joseph after graduating from high school in Clarksdale. He moved with Swift to Phoenix in 1968 and then to their Company Headquarters in Chicago in 1972.

In 1979 he left Swift to become a plant manager for Louis Rich turkey in Newberry SC. He retired from Louis Rich in the early 90’s but returned to Swift to run their Butterball Turkey facilities in Detroit Lakes MN and Longmont CO before finally retiring back to the family farm in Helena.

Survivors include his sons; Steven Ochse of St. Joseph and C. Michael (Lisa) Ochse of Clermont FL, grandchildren, Cameron Ochse and Mitchell Ochse; &nbsp; brother, Dennis (Susan) Ochse of Helena, MO; with numerous nieces and nephews. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Danny Lee Bramble 64, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2025 in a St. Joseph, MO hospital. He was born June 22, 1960 in Leavenworth, KS, son of the late Gloria Jean Shaver and Omar "Tex" Bramble. 

He graduated from Benton High School, and Minnesota University with a degree in Computer Sciences. He worked at NASA and Prudential as a Computer Tech. He always enjoyed smiling and laughing, and he was willing to lend a helping hand, especially to children in need. He helped over 181 children get a new start. 

Danny was preceded in death by his parents, son, Dylan Christopher, and brothers, Michael and Matthew Bramble. 

Survivors include: lifetime companion, Trish Newton, daughters, Desiree Newton of Maryville, MO, and Samantha Newton of St. Joseph, MO, and a son, Joshua Lee, brothers; Timothy "T.J." Bramble, Mark Bramble, Gary Shaver, and Christopher Bradley, sisters: Vondray Becknell, Jeannie Soldanels, Michelle Bramble, Sabrena Judson, and Lisa Bradley, grandchildren: Alexi, Liliana, Draven, and Myshel. 

There are no scheduled services at this time, cremation under the care of the Rupp Funeral Home.

Joan was born February 17, 1938 in Easton, MO to Coval and Thelma (Hines) McWilliams. &nbsp;

She worked as Foundation Accountant for Missouri Western State University; retiring in 2002. Joan was a lifelong member of Harmony Cumberland Presbyterian Church in San Antonio, MO; and a member of PEO Chapter ED.

She married Norman P. Lang on November 3, 1962, and he preceded her in death on January 17, 2021. Also preceding her in death were her parents, a brother Larry and sister Barbara.

Survivors include son David Lang (Lucinda); daughters Susan Hoppe (Jon), Julie Mason (Ralph); grandchildren, Josh, Jacob, Jonah, Grace, and Ian; brother Dan McWilliams (Cheryl); other relatives and friends.

Joan enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and spending time with her grandchildren.

T. Joan Lang 1938 - 2025

Wilma was born Dec. 7, 1934 in St. Joseph, MO to the late Floyd and Xerma Dowdy. She was a 1952 graduate of Lafayette High School.

She married Eugene (Gene) Clark on Aug. 21, 1952. They celebrated 57 years of marriage until his passing Feb. 12, 2011.

Willie and Gene were active in Marriage Encounter as a lead couple for many years. Willie held various office positions over the years while raising seven children. She was very active in her church, St. Francis Xavier, volunteering for numerous committees and ministries.

In addition to her husband and parents, Willie was also preceded in death by her son Chris, daughter-in-law Darcy Clark, brothers Noel and Tom Dowdy and brother-in-law Bob Hale and Norman Clark.

Wilma was born Dec. 7, 1934 in St. Joseph, MO to the late Floyd and Xerma Dowdy. She was a 1952 graduate of Lafayette High School.She married Eugene (Gene) Clark on Aug. 21, 1952. They celebrated 57 years of marriage until his passing Feb. 12, 2011.Willie and Gene were active in Marriage Encounter as a lead couple for many years. Willie held various office positions over the years while raising seven children. Agnes passed peacefully on April 3, 2025 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Agnes was born to Isabel and Alfonzo Cruz onJanuary 20, 1933, in St. Joseph, Missouri. The third child of twelve siblings.

Agnes married Alan Gerard in 1952 and as he began a US Naval career, they moved to LongBeach, CA, Charleston, SC, Vallejo, CA, Subic Bay, Philippines, Oxnard, CA, San Diego, CAand Kenitra, Morocco before he retired and moved back to St. Joseph. After returning to St.Joseph, Agnes worked at Whitaker Cable Company for many years. Afterwhich, she worked atOlympia Bowling Lanes organizing and running the youth bowling league. Agnes Gerard 1933 - 2025

Theodore “Ted” Stanley Pankiewicz, 71, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2025 with family. He was under hospice care after a courageous eighteen-month battle with terminal cancer.

Ted was born in St. Joseph on June 5, 1953. He was the son of Francis and Josephine (Klein) Pankiewicz.

Ted attended elementary school at the former Sts. Peter and Paul School and St. Francis Xavier. He attended Christian Brothers High School and graduated from Bishop LeBlond High School. He also attended Missouri Western State College for two years.

Ted was an avid sports fan and could state statistics from various sports going back 50 years. His favorite teams were the St. Louis Cardinals, the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs. He also loved playing center field in league baseball until his late 30s.

Ted was employed at Quaker Oats until its closure, where he met many good friends.

Ted was a kind and thoughtful man who treated everyone with dignity and respect. After retirement he still worked for the elderly as a handyman for household jobs, running errands and helping wherever he could.

He was beloved Uncle Ted to all of his nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews and will be greatly missed. He often acted more like a kid than they did yet always assured them a great time.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents; twin infant brothers, John and Joseph; sister, Margaret Hager; and brother, Thomas Pankiewicz.

He is survived by his brother Mike (Teresa) Pankiewicz; sister, Marilyn McClure; brother-in-law, Bob Hager; sister-in-law, Cathy Pankiewicz; and numerous nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews.

As to Ted’s wishes, he will be cremated with a private family celebration of his life.

John M. Ellsworth, 51, of Severance, Kansas passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2025, in Troy, Kansas.

John was born on October 13, 1973, in St. Joseph, Missouri to Neale I. and Peggy Lee (Bennett) Ellsworth.

John married Sherry Duncan on October 6, 2000, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She survives.

He was a truckdriver for Miller’s Trucking and worked for Nestle Purina of St. Joseph, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Additional survivors: children, Ashley Matt (Mark), Aubrey Bruns (Jeremy), Addiston Ellsworth (Fiancé, Ethan), Allyson Ellsworth and Alyxandrea Ellsworth. Grandchildren, Brooklee, Kaylee, Kiefer, Brennen and Braxton. Siblings, Rhonda Ellsworth, Thomas Ellsworth (Patrice) and Cheryl Henry (Mick). Sister-in-law, Dianne Ashworth. Numerous nieces, nephews and many good friends.

Daisy L. Reynolds Mutchler, 99 of Savannah, MO went to be with her Lord on April 2, 2025 at Carriage Square in St. Joseph, MO. She was born October 20th 1925 to J. W. and Alma (Rushton) Phillips. She married Franklin Reynolds in 1944 and he preceded her in death in 1998. She married Willard Mutchler in 2004 and he preceded her in death in 2016.

Daisy spent most of her life in the Savannah area. She enjoyed dancing, music, and was loved by all who knew her. She worked for many years in the cafeteria at Savannah High School.

Survivors include her children; Linda (Dan) Petitt of Savannah and Roger (Jannet) Reynolds of Bolckow, MO; grandchildren, Tyler Evans, Heather (Scott) Yount, Megan (Jarod) Goldizen, Mindy (Jacob) Briner, and Matthew Reynolds; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; 2 sisters; 6 brothers and daughter Janet Lee Reynolds.

Carolyn Sue Bayer 71, of St Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at a local health care center. She was born June 10, 1953 in St. Joseph, daughter of Bonnie and Carl Leer. 

Carolyn was married to Roland Bayer for 40 years and was a devoted housewife and mother to her family. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, spending time outdoors, going camping and fishing, and crafting. 

Carolyn was preceded in death by husband, Roland Bayer in 2023, her parents, brother, Clifford Leer, sister, Carlene Jolly and granddaughter, Brandy Watts. 

Survivors include: sons, Brian (Andrea) Bayer and Ernest (Melissa) Bayer, both of St. Joseph, daughters, Charlotte (Dean) Berry of St. Joseph and Rosemary (Jeremy) Murphy of St. Joseph, siblings, Gary Leer of Texas, Debbie Leer of St. Joseph, Penny Christopher of Iowa, and Carl Leer Jr. (Joanna Grooms) of St. Joseph, 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty Mae McClanahan Headrick 95, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2025 in a St. Joseph, MO hospital. She was born May 31, 1929 in Hemple, MO, daughter of the late Florence Pearl Smith and Robert Lee McClanahan. 

She graduated from Gower High School in 1947, and attended business school in St. Joseph. (A great accomplishment was that she typed 100 words a minute on a manual typewriter). On May 20, 1949 she married Leland Headrick, who passed away on June 2, 2012.Betty worked at Hillyard Chemical Company and J.C. Penney for several years, after retirement she also enjoyed volunteering at the hospital, and traveling with many organized trips around the United States.

Betty loved to listen to Kitchen Klatter at 9AM on KFEQ radio, she enjoyed working the primary and general elections at various locations, she was a 4-H leader at the club and county levels. Summer time was filled with canning and freezing vegetables and fruit from the garden, making homemade butter from the family Guernsey milk cows on the farm. She enjoyed preparing her families favorite dishes, when they would come home to visit. She also loved sewing and doing embroidery work. Betty was a member of the McCarthy Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School classes and participated in many other church related activities. 

She was preceded in death by husband, Leland L Headrick, her parents, sisters, Julia L. Rupp, Edris Sears, and Marcell George, and her brother, Paul McClanahan. 

Survivors include: daughter, Jane Koogler and husband Fred of Pella, IA, son, Jerry Headrick and wife Debbie of Kansas City, KS, daughter, Nancy Headrick of Kansas City, MO, grandsons: Jayson (Imelda) Headrick, Josh (Monika) Headrick, Phillip Headrick, and Scott Murray, granddaughters: Tracy (Bryan) Pierce and Genny Lund, as well as five great grandchildren.
