William “Bill” Oren Pettyjohn Sr. 73, of St. Joseph went home to meet his Savior, The Lord Jesus Christ, on Monday, September 15, 2025 at his home in St. Joseph. Bill was born on May 15th, 1952, in Niangua, MO, to Emery and Maxine (Duncan) Pettyjohn. Bill married Vina Elaine Justus on February 6th, 1969 and they shared 56 years together.
Bill started his family business Pettyjohn Auto Sales and Service in 1978-2021 with his son Billy Pettyjohn Jr. Bill was a member of the Freeman Chapel Freewill Baptist Church.
He also served on the Savannah Water Board for three years. Christian Motorcycle Association, Chapter #1092 for ten years. Bill, enjoy restoring old automobiles and hunting.
He is survived by his wife, Vina Elaine of the home; two children, William “Billy” O. Jr. (Elizabeth) Pettyjohn of St. Joseph, and Tina Marie (Sam) Hoover of St. Joseph; two sisters, Sherline (Carl) Nelson of St. Joseph, and Phyllis (Calvin) McDaniel of Tonganoxie, KS; one brother, Brian Bowers of Georgia; nine grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Norman, Wayne, and Gilbert; one sister, Willie Thomas and one grandson Joey Stevenson.
Funeral Services will be 1:00pm Friday September 19, 2025 at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home in Savannah, MO. Visitation and family receiving hours will be 6:00pm-8:00pm Thursday September 18, 2025 at Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Frazier Number Six Cemetery in Frazier, MO.
