Danny Patterson, 81, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025, surrounded by the family he loved so deeply. Born April 20, 1944, to William and Eva Grace Patterson, Danny grew up as one of five children in a home filled with hard work, love, and family ties that shaped the man he became.
On March 1, 1963, Danny married his high school sweetheart, Linda Gail Zule. Together they built a picture-perfect life on love, devotion, and shared dreams. Their marriage was a living example of loyalty and tenderness, a partnership that remained unshakable for almost 63 years.
Danny and Linda were blessed with one son, Ed Patterson (married to Joni) of Valley Falls, and through him, their legacy grew into three grandchildren—Zach of Olathe, Edward (Charlene) of Topeka, and Joni of Valley Falls—and eventually into 10 great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Asher, along with William, Myles, Daniel, Eli, Penelope, Ilene, Caleb, and Allison. To his family, he wasn’t just a husband, father, and grandfather, he was the steady center, the strongest man they knew, and the kind of soul who would do anything for anyone.
Danny was a master plasterer by trade and a proud Angus cattle rancher in retirement. He was a tireless worker who poured himself into every detail, whether shaping plaster walls or tending to his cattle. He carried himself with quiet strength and an unwavering work ethic, always finding purpose in providing for his family and taking pride in his land and livestock.
Beyond his work, Danny will be remembered for his incredible heart and love to travel. He had a way of making people feel cared for, of showing up when someone needed a hand, of living generously without needing recognition. He loved his wife more than words could ever capture, and he lived his life with a devotion to family that will remain an example for generations.
Danny is survived by his beloved wife and best-friend Linda, his son Ed and daughter-in-law Joni, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his brother John Patterson of Leavenworth. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, and sister, who no doubt welcomed him home with open arms.
A man of grit and grace, Danny Patterson leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and generosity that will live on in the lives he touched. His family takes comfort in knowing that his story is woven into theirs forever.
