Annetta Jean Ramsay, 63, resident of Nodaway and Savannah, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2025.

She was born on August 27, 1961, to Robert Lee and Annabelle Fern (Calvert) Brushwood in St. Joseph, Missouri.

After completing high school, Annetta worked many years with Interserve improving countless lives with her compassion and care.

She married Rick Linn Ramsay, on Valentine's Day of 2002. Cherished by all who knew them.

Annetta had a passion crafting countless cozy blankets and scarves through her love for knitting. She found solace in the twists and turns of soap opera plotlines.

Annetta had a collection of exquisite dolls, each one cherished and displayed with pride in her home.

Her absence will be felt by her husband, Rick; children, Andy and Randy (Amanda) Acton; grandchild, Wade Acton, her sister, Shirley Brushwood; and her extended family and friends.

She is preceded by her siblings, Gary Brushwood Sr. and Debbie Brushwood.

Annetta Jean Ramsay 1961 - 2025

Major James Morley Shaw (USAF Retired) flew west on March 18, 2025.

Shaw was born on August 28, 1942, the eldest son of Robert Gove and Elizabeth Morley Shaw in Oklahoma City, OK. He attended West Nichols Hills Elementary School and John Marshall Jr. and Sr. High School, graduating in 1960. While at John Marshall he was active in band, chorus, Glee Club, Ground Observer Corps, and Civil Air Patrol Cadets. Jim then attended junior college at New Mexico Military Institute graduating in 1962, where he was active in band, Drum and Bugle Corps, and choir; he then attended University of Oklahoma for one year. In February 1964, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the OKANG for the purpose of attending undergraduate navigator training from which he graduated on August 6, 1965. While flying virtually full time with the ANG throughout the Pacific and SE Asia, Europe, and South America, he was a part time student at Oklahoma State University from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Military Science &amp; History in 1969. He then requested to be called into active service but there were no recall quotas available at the time. In August of 1970 he married Annie Caroline Johnson. He then went to work for Pinkerton Detective Agency, first as a security guard and later as an Investigator.

In 1971 active duty recall quotas became available again. He entered active service and attended F-4 transition training at Luke AFB AZ before being stationed at Ubon Royal Thai AFB, Thailand. Assigned to the 25th TFS at Soesterburf AB, Holland, and then the 57th Fighter Interceptor Squadron at Keflavik Naval Air Squadron, Iceland, where he intercepted 28 Soviet aircraft transitioning Icelandic airspace.

Returning stateside in 1979 he served with the 474th TFS at Nellis AFB, Las Vegas, as Chief of Inspection for two years before being assigned to RAF Upper Heyford, England as Chief of Wing Operations Center. In 1986 he was transferred to Ft. Stewart, GA to be the Air Liason Officer to the 1st Brigade, 24th Infantry Division where he served until retirement in 1989. Following his military career he continued his service to his country as a defense contractor supporting the U.S. Army Battle Command Training Program at Leavenworth, KS, where he became Chief of Opposition Forces, Operations Group C. BCTP. He retired from the position on August 6, 2014.

His awards and decorations include: Distinguished Flying Cross w/ Valor and 3 Oak Clusters, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal w/ 17 Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Commendation Medal w/ 20 Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Combat Readiness Medal w/ 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, State of Oklahoma Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/ 9 Campaign Stars, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross.

During his career he accumulated 5,819 hours in T-29, C-97G, C124C, F-4c/D/E, C-47 and J-3 aircraft, to include 450 hours of combat time. He was a life member of the Air Force Assn., The Military Officers Assn., the Red River Fighter Pilots Assn., VFW Post 4055 in Platte City, MO where he was active in the Color Guard and Funeral Honors Guard, the American Legion, and the NRA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 46 years, Annie Carolyn Johnson Shaw, in 2017. He is survived by brothers Michael J.C. Shaw of New Haven, MO, and John Richard Shaw of Boston, MA; cousins Sarah Gardner of Oklahoma City, OK, Mary Nell Stamatis of Springfield, MO, Samual Parrot of Oklahoma, Ok, Melonie Cannon of OK, and Melinda of VA.

 A visitation will be held 10-11 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2025; followed by an 11 a.m. funeral service at Rollins Funeral Home in Platte City, MO. Interment will follow at the Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA at a later date.

James Morley Shaw 1942-2025

Jay Randall “Randy” Broyles, 79, of Plattsburg, MO passed away March 18, 2025.

Randy was born on December 11, 1945, to Lloyd Bonser and Bonnie Jean (Finlay) Broyles in Kansas City, MO. Randy grew up in the North Kansas City, MO area and graduated from North Kansas City High School. He was active in Boy Scouts achieving Eagle Scout rank in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say where he was known as Swift Diving Nighthawk. He then attended University of Missouri in Columbia and graduated with his bachelor’s degree from University of Missouri Kansas City. Randy served his country in United States Air Force.

Randy married Rebecca Ann Stevens. They had two daughters Saramarie and Elizabeth. He later married Patrica Ann King. After their marriage they lived in Plattsburg where they made their home.

He worked for the Office of The Comptroller of the Currency in Kansas City where he retired in 2001. Randy was an active member of the Plattsburg Community where he served on several boards including the Oakridge of Plattsburg, the Community Courtyard, the Plattsburg Fire Protection District and the Plattsburg Rotary Club. Randy enjoyed hunting, fishing, doing crossword puzzles, and he was an avid sports fan. His favorite role was “Pop” to his grandchildren. Randy had a famous laugh known to all and was a wonderful husband, father, and Pop who will be missed dearly.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents Doc and Bonnie Broyles and his daughter Saramarie. He is survived by his wife Patti Broyles; daughter Elizabeth (Jeff) Musgrove; step-daughters Jacklyn Marceau and Jamie Marceau; grandchildren Kelsey (Jeffrey), Roman, Jack, Sophia, Zoey and Ophelia; other relatives and many friends.

The family will host a Celebration of Life will be held from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 13th at the Community Courtyard 117 W Maple, Plattsburg, MO 64477.

Theodore “Tim” Matthew Gronniger, 80, of Troy, Kansas passed away Friday, March 21, 2025, at the Abundant Acres in Savannah, Missouri.

Tim was born on June 15, 1944, in Leona, Kansas to August and Eugenie (Davignon) Gronniger. He graduated from Troy High School and was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church, Troy, Kansas. Tim served in the U.S Army. He worked as a surveyor for Louis &amp; Clark and Ben Williamson, was a mechanic for Gronniger Garage, and retired from Altec as a Assembly Tech.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, Henry Paul Gronniger, Joseph Henry Gronniger, and Olga Gronniger. He is survived by&nbsp;sons Paul Gronniger, John Gronniger and James Gronniger;&nbsp; grandchildren Bailey Gronniger and Gentry Duncan; great-grandchild, Adalyn Duncan; siblings, Eugenie Ricklefs, August Peter Gronniger Jr., Susan Bandelier, Richard Gronniger and Mary Johnson.

Funeral Mass services are set for 10:00 A.M. Friday, March 28, 2025, at the St. Charles Catholic Church, Troy, Kansas. A rosary at 5:30 P.M. Elmer L. Hatheway Jr. “Mo”, 57, of St Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2025 at his home.

He was born July 25, 1967 in St. Joseph, son of Billie and Elmer Hatheway. Elmer married Donna Lee on September 5, 1996 in St. Joseph.  He worked at the City of St. Joseph as an Equipment Operator. Elmer enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with and spoiling his grandkids. He was a lover of motorcycles and Ford trucks. He will be remembered for cooking for his family gatherings and he was a friend to all. Elmer also enjoyed and was a member of the CB Radio Community, going by the handle "Knightrider".

Elmer was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include: wife, Donna Hatheway of the home, children, Brooke (Shawn) Bode and their 3 children, Cody (Sara) Hatheway and their 3 children, Krista (Colby) Head and their child, Patience (Jesse) Chitwood and their 3 children, Courtney (David) Powell and their 4 children, Gabrielle Hatheway (Nathan Hall) and their 3 children, and Serena Hatheway and her child on the way, siblings, Belinda (Willie) Petitt, Debra (Roger) Neill, Lena (Gary) Fetters, Everett Hatheway, Billy (Nancy) Hatheway, Ronnie Hatheway, and Ricky (Sandy) Hatheway, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Elmer Hatheway Jr. 1967-2025

Grant Eugene Speaks, 97, of Troy, Kansas passed away Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha, Kansas.

Grant was born on October 5, 1927, in Sparks, Kansas to John Terrance and Alice (Blanton) Speaks.

He graduated from Troy, High School after graduating he joined the U.S. Army, upon returning from the army he went to work for Pepsi Cola as a supervisor for 38 years. Grant was a member of the Troy Christian Church, Troy Masonic Lodge #55, Troy Lions Club, York Rite, Shriner’s and Troy American Legion Post #55. &nbsp;

Grant married Barbara Jean Thomas on October 16, 1948, in Atchison, Kansas. She preceded him in death on September 16, 2022. He was also preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, James Speaks, siblings, Mike Speaks, Addie Young, Virginia Clary, Alma Lee Reder and Johnny Speaks and son-in-law, Gary Blanton.

Survivors: Linda Blanton, Thomas (Anita) Speaks, &nbsp;Brenda (Larry) Turpin, David Speaks all of Troy, Kansas. Patricia (Keith) Ahlvers, Frankfort, Kansas. Twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews.

Jay Randall “Randy” Broyles, 79, of Plattsburg, MO passed away March 18, 2025.Randy was born on December 11, 1945, to Lloyd Bonser and Bonnie Jean (Finlay) Broyles in Kansas City, MO. Randy grew up in the North Kansas City, MO area and graduated from North Kansas City High School. He was active in Boy Scouts achieving Eagle Scout rank in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say where he was known as Swift Diving Nighthawk. He then attended University of Missouri in Columbia and graduated with his bachelor’s degree from University of Missouri Kansas City. Randy served his country in United States Air Force.Randy married Rebecca Ann Stevens. They had two daughters Saramarie and Elizabeth. He later married Patrica Ann King. After their marriage they lived in Plattsburg where they made their home.He worked for the Office of The Comptroller of the Currency in Kansas City where he retired in 2001. Randy was an active member of the Plattsburg Community where he served on several boards including the Oakridge of Plattsburg, the Community Courtyard, the Plattsburg Fire Protection District and the Plattsburg Rotary Club. Randy enjoyed hunting, fishing, doing crossword puzzles, and he was an avid sports fan. His favorite role was “Pop” to his grandchildren. Randy had a famous laugh known to all and was a wonderful husband, father, and Pop who will be missed dearly.Randy was preceded in death by his parents Doc and Bonnie Broyles and his daughter Saramarie.He is survived by his wife Patti Broyles; daughter Elizabeth (Jeff) Musgrove; step-daughters Jacklyn Marceau and Jamie Marceau; grandchildren Kelsey (Jeffrey), Roman, Jack, Sophia, Zoey and Ophelia; other relatives and many friends.The family will host a Celebration of Life will be held from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 13th at the Community Courtyard 117 W Maple, Plattsburg, MO 64477.<figure>

Nettie “Lucile” Wiedmer, 98, of Wathena, Kansas passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2025, in Savannah, Missouri.

Lucile was born on February 24, 1927, in Troy, Kansas to James J. Sr. and Dorothy (Keller) Davies.

She worked as a sewing machine operator in St. Joseph, Missouri for 25 years and was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church, Blair, Kansas.

Lucile married Albert Wiedmer in September of 1944, during WWII in Miami, Florida. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Sharon Ream, Josephine Bunck, Freda Dhone and Ruth Kline, brother, James J. Davies Jr., son-in-law, Phil Thomas and a grandson, Wade Thomas.

Survivors: Son, Gerry Wiedmer (Martha), Troy, Kansas. Daughter, Diana Thomas, St. Joseph, Missouri. 3 grandchildren, Holly Chapman (Kyle), Brycen Wiedmer (Leola) and Jill Fleek (Bill) and 5 great-grandchildren, Ryann Akins, Brylee Wiedmer, Leena Wiedmer, Sidney Fleek and Anna Fleek. Matthew J. Claycomb, 41, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away unexpectedly Sunday, March 16, 2025 at his home. He was born November 10, 1983 in St. Joseph, son of Sheila (Barmann) and Thomas Claycomb. 

Matt graduated from Central High School and he worked as an in-home caregiver. Matt was an avid horror enthusiast, an 80's rock music fan, loved working on cars. He enjoyed spending time with his girls, his cats and going fishing and mushroom hunting. 

Survivors include mother, Sheila Barmann of St Joseph, father, Thomas Claycomb of Tampa, FL, his longtime Companion, Tisha Hinojosa of the home and her children Jaeden, Aubrieanna and Izabella Hinojosa, daughter, MaKenzie Claycomb and her mother Katie Hamaker of Murrayville, GA, daughter, Maizy Claycomb and her mother Courtney Cruz, of St. Joseph, and many aunts, uncles, cousin and lots of extended family.

Funeral Service will be at 6:00 PM Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at Rupp Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM on Tuesday and a Rosary will be held at 5:30 PM. Mr. Claycomb will be cremated following services.

Tammy Elean Keyes 54, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away  Monday, March 17, 2025 in a St. Joseph, MO. hospital. She was born March 10, 1971 in Oriley, KS, daughter of the Lillian and Reese Elmore. 

She was a homemaker who enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, listening to music, spending time with her husband, grandbabies and family. 

Tammy was preceded in death by mother, Lillian Kay Gualico, father, Reese Elmore, and brother, Lonnie Elmore.

Kenneth Robert "K.R." Kneale was born in St. Joseph, Missouri on May 18, 1940. He was the second of four children born to Kenneth E. and Esther E. (Marriner) Kneale.&nbsp;

K.R. attended New Point school and later graduated from Oregon High School. He then attended Central Methodist College in Fayette, Missouri. It was there that he met Sue Ellen Conner. They were married on December 27, 1963, and became parents of one daughter.&nbsp;

In past K.R. worked at Bartlett grain and most recently Ventura Foods in St Joseph. &nbsp;He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, and was an Omaha Tangier Shriner member. K.R. was also a Mensa Society member. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Chiefs, NASCAR, and golf.

K.R. passed away at a St. Joseph hospital on March 17, 2025 at the age of 84. Proceeding him were his parents; siblings, Bill Kneale, Ben Kneale, and Judy Scheib; brother-in-law, Don Scheib; and sister-in-law, Carol Conner Wilcox.&nbsp;

Benjamin Paul Luna, of Maryville, MO, was born August 17, 1993 and left this world to walk the streets of gold with Jesus on March 11, 2025. Ben grew up in Mound City, MO where he graduated from high school in 2012.

Ben graduated from Missouri Western State University in 2016 with a degree in Wildlife Conservation. Ben dedicated his career to conservation as a soil conservationist while working for the United States Department of Agriculture and NRCS. He lived out his passion to protect and preserve the land that he loved.

The outdoors was Ben’s special place whether he was fishing at Luna’s pond, camping under the stars, kayaking down a river, or hunting in the woods; Ben found peace and joy in nature. He loved wildlife, chasing animals down, and catching them. Ben was an avid golfer, a video gamer, and had a deep connection with music. His striking blue eyes and big smile could light up a room. His kind heart and adventurous spirit made him a cherished son, brother, husband, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend.

He is survived by his wife, Mara Veasey; loving parents, John and Paula Luna; brother, David Luna, his sister-in-law, Morgan Luna; little sister, Ava Grace Luna; his grandparents, Duane and Jennie Luna of Mound City, MO and P.D. and Nora Monroe of Craig, MO; paternal aunts and uncles, Rev. Benjamin P. Luna 1993 - 2025

Born January 25th 1954, Diana Christine Whalen, age 71, passed away in her sleep on the morning of March 17th, 2025.Cris, as she was affectionately known, was welcomed by Albert “Jack” and Helen Shields. 

She grew up in Kansas City and Lee's Summit, MO. Cris graduated from Lee's Summit High School in 1972 where she enjoyed choir and band. She had an amazing singing voice and would sing in church and at weddings. She also enjoyed going to Letterman and Oak Ridge Boys concerts. She was on a first name basis with many of the members.

Cris married the love of her life, Rodney Whalen in 1984. She was a die hard Royals fan and passed that passion on to her two children. She spent the last several years living at the family farm outside Trenton, MO hunting, fishing and quilting.

Cris is preceded in death by her parents Albert “Jack" Shields and Helen Shields. 

She is survived by her husband Rod Whalen, her two children Justin Thomas(Rebecca Thomas) of Freeman, MO and Sara Brouse (Ryan Tackeberry) of Platte City, MO, brother Ralph Shields and 7 grand kids Christine Thomas, Weston Thomas, Nathaniel Thomas, Evan Thomas all of Freeman, MO, Mason Brouse, Evette Brouse and Jackson Tackeberry of Platte City, MO. She also leaves extended family Brenda Morris, Russell, Angela and Thea Morris whom she considered as her own.

Diana Christine Whalen (Shields) 1954 - 2025

Major James Morley Shaw (USAF Retired) flew west on March 18, 2025. Born on August 28, 1942, the eldest son of Robert Gove and Elizabeth Morley Shaw in Oklahoma City, OK. 

He attended West Nichols Hills Elementary School and John Marshall Jr. and Sr. High School, graduating in 1960. While at John Marshall he was active in band, chorus, Glee Club, Ground Observer Corps, and Civil Air Patrol Cadets. Jim then attended junior college at New Mexico Military Institute graduating in 1962, where he was active in band, Drum and Bugle Corps, and choir; he then attended University of Oklahoma for one year. In February 1964, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the OKANG for the purpose of attending undergraduate navigator training from which he graduated on August 6, 1965. While flying virtually full time with the ANG throughout the Pacific and SE Asia, Europe, and South America, he was a part time student at Oklahoma State University from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Military Science &amp; History in 1969. He then requested to be called into active service but there were no recall quotas available at the time. In August of 1970 he married Annie Caroline Johnson. He then went to work for Pinkerton Detective Agency, first as a security guard and later as an Investigator. In 1971 active duty recall quotas became available again. He entered active service and attended F-4 transition training at Luke AFB AZ before being stationed at Ubon Royal Thai AFB, Thailand. Assigned to the 25th TFS at Soesterburf AB, Holland, and then the 57th Fighter Interceptor Squadron at Keflavik Naval Air Squadron, Iceland, where he intercepted 28 Soviet aircraft transitioning Icelandic airspace. Returning stateside in 1979 he served with the 474th TFS at Nellis AFB, Las Vegas, as Chief of Inspection for two years before being assigned to RAF Upper Heyford, England as Chief of Wing Operations Center. In 1986 he was transferred to Ft. Stewart, GA to be the Air Liason Officer to the 1st Brigade, 24th Infantry Division where he served until retirement in 1989. Following his military career he continued his service to his country as a defense contractor supporting the U.S. Army Battle Command Training Program at Leavenworth, KS, where he became Chief of Opposition Forces, Operations Group C. BCTP. He retired from the position on August 6, 2014. His awards and decorations include: Distinguished Flying Cross w/ Valor and 3 Oak Clusters, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal w/ 17 Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Commendation Medal w/ 20 Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Combat Readiness Medal w/ 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, State of Oklahoma Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/ 9 Campaign Stars, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross. During his career he accumulated 5,819 hours in T-29, C-97G, C124C, F-4c/D/E, C-47 and J-3 aircraft, to include 450 hours of combat time. He was a life member of the Air Force Assn., The Military Officers Assn., the Red River Fighter Pilots Assn., VFW Post 4055 in Platte City, MO where he was active in the Color Guard and Funeral Honors Guard, the American Legion, and the NRA.

He is survived by brothers Michael J.C. Shaw of New Haven, MO, and John Richard Shaw of Boston, MA; cousins Sarah Gardner of Oklahoma City, OK, Mary Nell Stamatis of Springfield, MO, Samual Parrot of Oklahoma, Ok, Melonie Cannon of OK, and Melinda of VA. 

A visitation will be held 10-11 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2025; followed by an 11 a.m. funeral service at Rollins Funeral Home in Platte City, MO. Interment will follow at the Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA at a later date. Memorial contributions can be given to the Air Force Courage Foundation. Major James Morley Shaw (USAF Retired) flew west on March 18, 2025. Born on August 28, 1942, the eldest son of Robert Gove and Elizabeth Morley Shaw in Oklahoma City, OK. He attended West Nichols Hills Elementary School and John Marshall Jr. and Sr. High School, graduating in 1960. While at John Marshall he was active in band, chorus, Glee Club, Ground Observer Corps, and Civil Air Patrol Cadets. Jim then attended junior college at New Mexico Military Institute graduating in 1962, where he was active in band, Drum and Bugle Corps, and choir; he then attended University of Oklahoma for one year. In February 1964, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the OKANG for the purpose of attending undergraduate navigator training from which he graduated on August 6, 1965. While flying virtually full time with the ANG throughout the Pacific and SE Asia, Europe, and South America, he was a part time student at Oklahoma State University from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Military Science &amp; History in 1969. He then requested to be called into active service but there were no recall quotas available at the time. In August of 1970 he married Annie Caroline Johnson. He then went to work for Pinkerton Detective Agency, first as a security guard and later as an Investigator. In 1971 active duty recall quotas became available again. He entered active service and attended F-4 transition training at Luke AFB AZ before being stationed at Ubon Royal Thai AFB, Thailand. Assigned to the 25th TFS at Soesterburf AB, Holland, and then the 57th Fighter Interceptor Squadron at Keflavik Naval Air Squadron, Iceland, where he intercepted 28 Soviet aircraft transitioning Icelandic airspace. Returning stateside in 1979 he served with the 474th TFS at Nellis AFB, Las Vegas, as Chief of Inspection for two years before being assigned to RAF Upper Heyford, England as Chief of Wing Operations Center. In 1986 he was transferred to Ft. Stewart, GA to be the Air Liason Officer to the 1st Brigade, 24th Infantry Division where he served until retirement in 1989. Following his military career he continued his service to his country as a defense contractor supporting the U.S. Army Battle Command Training Program at Leavenworth, KS, where he became Chief of Opposition Forces, Operations Group C. BCTP. He retired from the position on August 6, 2014. His awards and decorations include: Distinguished Flying Cross w/ Valor and 3 Oak Clusters, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal w/ 17 Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Commendation Medal w/ 20 Oak Leaf Clusters, Air Force Combat Readiness Medal w/ 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, State of Oklahoma Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/ 9 Campaign Stars, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross. During his career he accumulated 5,819 hours in T-29, C-97G, C124C, F-4c/D/E, C-47 and J-3 aircraft, to include 450 hours of combat time. He was a life member of the Air Force Assn., The Military Officers Assn., the Red River Fighter Pilots Assn., VFW Post 4055 in Platte City, MO where he was active in the Color Guard and Funeral Honors Guard, the American Legion, and the NRA. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 46 years, Annie Carolyn Johnson Shaw, in 2017. He is survived by brothers Michael J.C. Mary Jean (Tinder) Swindler, 85, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at her home. She was born on June 28, 1939 to Lloyd “Mutt” Tinder and Nannie Belle (Humes) Tinder in Platte City, Missouri.

She graduated from Platte City High School in 1957 and was united in marriage to Jack Swindler on May 24, 1958. Even after 66 years of marriage, you rarely saw one without the other.

Mary started her working career with Farm Bureau, but spent 30 plus years as a legal secretary for Don Witt and various partners, retiring from Witt &amp; Hicklin in 2002. During this time span, Jack &amp; Mary opened and operated The Runway Lounge in Platte City from 1972 to 1977. In addition, both worked for the Platte City Sale Barn (livestock auctions) and eventually operated J &amp; J Auction Company (with Jerry &amp; Marge Cox) all totaling more than 50 years.

Mary is survived by Jack Swindler of the home, daughter Susan Weaver, son Dan Swindler. She was so proud of her grandchildren, Lindsay Haight, Brett (Lexi) Weaver, Bryan (Jessica) Swindler and Brady (Taylor) Swindler. She was blessed with eight great grandchildren, Weston &amp; Andi Haight, Josie Weaver, Amelia, Ella &amp; Jack Swindler, and Adeline &amp; Brooks Swindler. A ninth great grandchild is expected this September to Brett &amp; Lexi.

She is also survived by sisters, Marge (Jerry) Cox, Nancy Layton (Ray Bisig), and brother-in-law, Gene (Kim) Peters, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by sisters, Sharon Peters, Mildred (Charles) Knighton, son-in-law, Noel Weaver and daughter-in-law Pam Swindler.

There are so many fond memories of time with the family at their pool during the summer, riding four wheelers, fishing and hunting, and spending lots of weekends at their homes at the Lake of the Ozarks

Thomas O’Dell Allison, 79, of Gower, MO passed away, March 18, 2025.

He was born on October 28, 1945 to Jack Tom and Lily May (DeGhelder) Allison in Kansas City, MO. Tom grew up in Gower and graduated from Gower High School.

On July 3, 1965 he was united in marriage to Marietta Lou Welter. After their marriage they lived in St. Joseph. Tom served his country in the U.S. Army from 1968-1969 during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge they lived in St. Joseph and in 1973 they moved to Gower where they made their home. His wife, Marietta, passed away on November 22, 2002.

Tom worked as an installation and repairman for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, retiring in 2002.

He was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church.

Tom was also preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his children, Chad Allison (Marcie Gatton), Stacy (Jason) Grayson and Kim (Andy) Bentz; grandchildren, Justin Skeeba (Misty Trail), Kent Waller, Taylor (Emily) Allison, Austin, Derek and Mikayla Grayson, and Jacob, Jaden, Collin, and Eli Bentz; great-grandchildren, Josie, Owen, and Braxton; sister-in-law, Betty Sue (Jack) Sellars; other relatives and many friends.

Matthew Phillip Sifers, born on August 4, 1990, in Hurst, Texas, passed away on March 3, 2025, at the age of 34. Matt was a loving son, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend who left a lasting impact on all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Raised in Omaha, Nebraska, Matt’s natural athleticism and competitive spirit were evident from a young age. During his time attending Millard West High School, he earned the prestigious All-State Soccer Award, showcasing his talent and dedication. In 2009, Matt helped lead the Millard West Varsity Boys Soccer team to victory in the Nebraska State Championship, a memory that he truly cherished. No matter the activity, Matt was always eager to take on a challenge, and he excelled at whatever he put his mind to. Whether it was sports or his work in construction, particularly his skillful woodworking, Matt approached everything with passion and precision.

An eclectic soul with a love for music, Matt was learning to play the guitar, always exploring new genres, and sharing his joy of music with others. His charismatic personality and infectious laugh made him the life of the party. His loyalty, reliability, and support as a friend and teammate were qualities that defined his character. Matt believed in others’ dreams and was always quick to encourage those around him to reach for them.

Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Janice (Farr) Sifers; sister, Natalie (Eric) Oberembt and niece Teegan; sister, Melissa (George) Evans, nieces Addison and Sofia, and nephew Stetson; and brother Andrew (Amanda) Sifers.

Matt struggled with severe mental illness for over a decade, and just like any other illness, those who suffer are deserving of compassion and understanding. Matt’s battle with mental illness was one that he did not choose, and though it largely affected his life for many years, it is important to remember Matt for who he was before the onset of his illness-a vibrant, clever, and witty person who brought joy and light to those around him. Though he was taken from the world far too soon, he is no longer suffering, and his family finds peace in knowing he is at rest.

A private memorial service will be held for his family.

Shirley Ann Winn 88, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, March 17, 2025 at a local health care facility. She was born November 13, 1936 in St. Joseph, daughter of Rosabell and Emilo Bringus. 

She was 1 of 13 children. On January 3, 1952, she married Raymond Winn in St. Joseph. Shirley spent most of her life dedicated to raising her children and being a homemaker. She enjoyed to travel and camping trips with her family. Shirley was a member of the former Carnegie Baptist Church and now Journey Baptist Church. 

She was preceded in death by husband, Raymond Winn Sr. in 2006, her parents, and her siblings. 

Survivors include: children, Sherry Cook of St. Joseph, daughter, Terry Strong of St. Joseph, Kelly (Michael) Thomas of Topeka, KS, Scott Winn of St. Joseph, Raymond Jeff Winn, Jr. of Elwood, KS, 13 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Herman Ray Collins, 85, of Independence, Missouri, peacefully passed away at his home on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.

Born on June 24, 1939, in Oregon, Missouri, to Campbell and Gladys (Montgomery) Collins, Herman married his beloved wife, Connie, on May 4, 1984.

An avid fisherman and hunter, Herman also enjoyed woodworking, leather tooling, and gardening. He was a proud 50-year member of the Charity Zeredatha No. 189 AF &amp; AM Masonic Lodge in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Herman was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Lavona Russell, Ramona Shields, and Campbell Collins. He is survived by his wife, Connie; children, Stephen Collins, Joe Bradley, and Brian Bradley; sister, Lynett Bingaman; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jean M. (Wise) Thuman. Jean, a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on Monday, March 17, 2025, after a lengthy illness. We are comforted in knowing she is no longer in pain.

Jean was born May 21, 1947, to Lloyd Laverne and Betty Lou (Sultzer) Wise in St. Joseph, Missouri. Her father preceded her passing in 1990, her mother in 2013.

Jean married David Thuman on October 30, 1964. Together they raised three daughters: Stacey Hill (Eric), Debbie Steeby (Heath) both of St. Joseph, MO, and Nikki Dashtaki (Cyrus) of St. Louis, MO.

As a young mother in 1965, her journey was not always easy. Jean was a dedicated wife, and a no-nonsense mother. Jean held high expectations for those around her and faced life’s challenges in raising a family with strength, resilience, and determination.

In later years, Jean built a career as a property manager working with families-in-need to ensure they had safe, clean, and affordable housing.

Although her life was marked by complexity and sometimes distance, we recognize her journey and love her for the person she was and all that she contributed to our lives in her own unique way. Her legacy, though imperfect, is a reminder of the complexities of human relationships.

Jean Marie Thuman 1947 - 2025

Judie K. Greer, 82, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, March 17, 2025.

She was born April 8, 1942 to Harold Brewster, Sr. and Alma Pauline (Inscho) Taylor.

Judie married Gary Edward Greer on November 5, 1961.

Judie served Park University with unwavering commitment as an Administrative Assistant for 35 years, where she embraced her students with motherly affection and support.

Her love for knitting and reading was matched only by her devotion to maintaining lifelong friendships. Judie's warmth and sincerity touched the hearts of many, and her ability to nurture relationships was truly remarkable.

She was preceded in death by her parents; great-grandchild, Knox David Mingus.

Survivors include her husband; children, Gary D. Greer (Cosette) and Dyana Kubiak (Chris); grandchildren, Haley Gadeken (Steven), Caley Mingus (Paul), Andrew Greer (Janae), Kyle and Tyler Kubiak; great-grandchildren, Asher, Jayla, and Addison Greer. Greer, 82, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, March 17, 2025.She was born April 8, 1942 to Harold Brewster, Sr. and Alma Pauline (Inscho) Taylor.Judie married Gary Edward Greer on November 5, 1961.Judie served Park University with unwavering commitment as an Administrative Assistant for 35 years, where she embraced her students with motherly affection and support.Her love for knitting and reading was matched only by her devotion to maintaining lifelong friendships. Judie's warmth and sincerity touched the hearts of many, and her ability to nurture relationships was truly remarkable.She was preceded in death by her parents; great-grandchild, Knox David Mingus.Survivors include her husband; children, Gary D. John T. Gorbet, 80, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, Match 16, 2025.

He was born on April 23, 1944 to George Thomas and Clara (Wilson) Gorbet in Kansas City, Missouri.

John's dedication to learning led him to graduate from high school, a foundation that propelled him into his career as a computer tech, where he was highly respected by his colleagues and peers in the industry. His work not only spoke of his skill but also of his commitment to progress and innovation.

He is survived by his wife Joyce Ann Gorbet, with whom he navigated the journey of life since May 23, 1987; his children Steve Gorbet, Cheryl Surls, Kristin Spencer, Rick Nicoll and Joanna Anderson; his three grandchildren Brittany Rifel (Ben), Chaz Lee Nicoll and Demore Turner; and six great-grandchildren: Greyson Rifel, Jayden Rifel, Mila Nicoll, Layla Rose Nicoll, Elijah and Zerlina, who brought him endless joy, and his brothers in law: Ralph Story, Kent Meilich and Dale Clark (Tammy).

Throughout his life, John embodied the role of a caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. While he joins in heaven to his parents, his sister Betty and his brother Leonard. He will be remembered for all those he leaves behind.

Patrick R. Jean, 75, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2025.

He was born April 13, 1949 in the American Hospital in Paris, France, to Homer W. Jean, Jr. and Nicole (Bruno) Jean.

Patrick proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in Intelligence during the Vietnam War era.

He worked as a manager for an import/export service, then later was a delivery driver.

Patrick was an avid birdwatcher and loved all animals. He enjoyed going on bike rides, especially long-distance rides.

Survivors include his sister, Patricia Jean; and brother, Philippe Jean.
