Stanley Holmes passed away peacefully in his home on June 21st 2024, surrounded by his many loved ones. He lived a life of many men, each noble, he was the type of guy you would never forget. He was born in St. Joseph Missouri on March 10th 1952 to Guy and Mickey Holmes. He was the fourth of five children, his older brothers being Dennis, Rodney, and Stephan, with one younger sister, Nicola. He met his beloved wife, Carol Debra Reed, in March of 1971, marrying later on August 27th of that year. The two loved each other enormously, and it didn’t take much to see that the couple were meant for each other.

Their love only grew with the introduction of their first child, Vanessa Lynn in 1972, and their second, Shawn Alan, in 1973. Along with the birth of his first child, Stan also started his lifelong career of roofing, slowly working his way up. Stan and Carol continued to grow their family with the introduction of their second son, Travis Scott, in 1975, and their second daughter, Brandy Danielle, in 1977. Stan had so much love to give, and with each new addition to the family his devotion to being a great husband and father only thrived. Finally, their family came to a close with their last two sons, Casey Ryan, in 1982, and Brett Corey in 1991. During this time, Stanley started his praised roofing company ‘Holmes Roofing’ in 1988.

Stan was a committed man, unwaveringly standing by the side of his wife Carol for 53 years, perpetually holding her hand until the last second. He was willing to do anything for her. In extension, Stanley always made sure that no matter what, each of his children felt loved and valued, because no matter how hard he worked, being a great dad always took precedence. He was an earnest husband first, an attentive father second, and a tremendously hard worker third.

Stanley was known for his boisterous humor, always trying to make people laugh in some not too subtle ways. With his humor came astounding wit, which he always chose to put forth in cards, pool, and other classic board games. When he wasn’t diligently hammering away, he enjoyed relaxing and watching movies in his iconic red recliners.

Stanley was simultaneously the most loving and loved man you’d ever meet. His legacy will forever be carried on by his 6 children, 12 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Most of all, his cherished wife will forever share her fond memories, stories, and reflections of their life together. It’s impossible to forget such an admirable man, for someone with such a lush history of good heartedness is seldom lost to time.

She was born on October 10, 1961, to Glen and JoAnn (Robinson) Alexander in St. Joseph, Missouri.

She graduated from Lafayette High School.

Sue spent many years working for St. Joe Transit as a supervisor until her retirement. After retiring, she enjoyed relaxing and reading her favorite books.

She enjoyed spending time with her beloved daughter and her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her uncles, Bill Robinson and Jack Robinson, and her cousin, Tom Robinson.

Survivors include her daughter, Danielle Langley (Cody); grandchildren, Aiden, Lucius, Annabelle and Cody Jr.; brother, Stan Alexander; sister, June Davis; and numerous nieces and cousins.

Dan DeShon, 64, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, June 24, 2024.

He was born September 23, 1959 in Banning, California, to Ted and Billie (Burnett) DeShon. Dan lived in California as a child before the family moved first to Nebraska and then St. Joseph.

Dan married Angie Sue Talbott on August 11, 1979. She survives of the home.

He went to work as a foreman at the Chicago Northwestern Railroad in 1979 and retired after 20 years. He then worked at Nestle-Purina PetCare for 14 years as a maintenance mechanic.

Dan enjoyed his Harley-Davidson motorcycles and Mopar cars as well as going to car shows.

An outgoing guy, Dan didn’t know a stranger and loved to tell stories, which got better with each re-telling. He loved to spend as much time as he could with his grandkids and also went to as many of his kids’ and grandkids’ sporting events that he could.

He also enjoyed traveling on family vacations, with Cabo San Lucas being one of his favorite destinations.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ted DeShon; biological mother, Phyllis Runyan; and sister, Annette DeShon.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 45 years, Angie; children, Daniel Lee DeShon, Jr. and Nicole Sowell (Ryan); grandchildren, Brensley Fox, Bryson Fox, Breann Sowell, Gannon Sowell, Peyton Miller, and Cooper DeShon; his mother, Billie DeShon; siblings, Brian DeShon (Amy), Joyce Ruybal (Roger), and Nancy Reddinger (Mark); other extended family and friends.

Effie Ernestine Boyd Snodgrass came into this world on June 25, 1935. Born to Ernest and Velva Cundiff Boyd at their home in Agency, Missouri, she grew up alongside her brother Elmer Wallace (Buck) and sisters, Norma Ruth Hendirks, Dorothy Louise, Helen Pauline Hammon, Margorie Ellen VanVickle, and “Pat (Frankie Darlene) Kalin. 

After graduating high school in 1953, Effie lived and worked in the St. Joseph area until marrying David L. Snodgrass III on April 22, 1956. David and Effie recently celebrated their 68th anniversary. Effie’s faith, born in the RLDS Church, sustained her throughout her life. She had a gifted memory, loved her family, enjoyed cooking, and being outdoors.

Effie leaves behind her husband David L. Snodgrass III; son, Galen D. Snodgrass and wife, Kim; Daughter Alison Jean Culver and husband, David Culver as well as six grandchildren and their families; Samantha Thomas, Kathryn Rollins, Doug Snodgrass, Lisa Snodgrass, Evan Culver and Audrey Culver.

Effie also loved being great-grandmother to eight. Effie Ernestine will be remembered as one of the strongest women we have had the honor to know. Her self-discipline and courage to clearly speak her truth. Never one to complain, or take medicine, Effie faced several illnesses with a grace and stamina that is difficult to put into words. She was a powerhouse of strength, determination, stubbornness and resilience.

Healing farewell service will be held 11:00am Thursday June 27, 2024 at the Bailey &amp; Cox Family Funeral Service Plattsburg Missouri. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph Missouri. The family will gather with friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. William Daniel “Danny” Harmer, 42, of Edgerton, MO passed away June 24, 2024 after a battle with cancer at his mom’s home.

He was born on May 4, 1982, in St. Joseph, MO. Danny grew up on the farm and in 2000, he graduated from East Buchanan High School in Gower. He also attended Hillyard’s and Missouri Western in St. Joseph.

Danny loved to hunt and fish, was an avid coin collector and photographer and especially loved building things. He also enjoyed writing poetry and wrote several poems for family and friends. Danny was always willing to help others and will be dearly missed.

He was a member of the Gower Christian Church and attended and volunteered at Camp Quality.

Danny was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Bill and Dorothy Jackson; his paternal grandparents Billy and Maxine Harmer and his aunt Brenda Wilder.

He is survived by his mother Brenda (Jackson) Harmer; his father John Harmer; his brothers Cory (Melissa) Harmer and Tim Huntsman; several aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Memorial Service: 6:00 pm with Visitation following until 8 pm Monday, July 1st all at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower.

Leslie Frank Waller, 65, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2024 at a Savannah, MO health care center. He was born August 22, 1958 in Fort Huachuca, AZ, son of Ethel "LaVaughn" and Frank Waller. 

He graduated from Lafayette High School, class of 1976. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1975-1990. &nbsp;Les married Gloria Griffin on July 5, 2005. &nbsp;He worked as a Guard at the U.S. Penitentary in Leavenworth, KS. He enjoyed spending time watching old war movies and documentaries. He was a member of the former Bible Baptist Temple. 

Leslie was preceded in death by his parents.

Anna Marie Marriott 93, of Kansas City, MO, formerly of St. Joseph, passed away Thursday night, June 20, 2024 in a Liberty, MO health care center. She was born August 5, 1930 in Chillicothe, MO, daughter of the late Marguerite and Carl Pfaff. 

She graduated from Chillicothe High School and attended business school. Anna was united in marriage to Wm. Greg Marriott on November 27, 1954 in St. Joseph, MO. &nbsp;She was employed with Dean Machinery for many years. Anna and Greg wintered in Clearwater, Florida for many years. She was a former member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. 

Anna was preceded in death by husband, Wm. Greg Marriott on August 22, 2003, her parents, brothers, Bill and Bob, sisters, Helen and Pat, grandson, Ronald Eugene Marriott Jr., and granddaughter, Nicole Lynne Marriott-McCleish. 

Survivors include: sons, Carl G. Larry Wayne Nagle 57, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2024 at his home. He was born June 20, 1967 in St. Joseph, Missouri, son of the late Eddina &amp; Harry Nagle Jr. 

 Larry was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter, Amber Renee Nagle. 

He is survived by finacée, Tina Hicks of the home,  daughters, Briana Nagle and Kayla Gonzalez, brother, Gary Watts, half brothers, Perry (Sheri) Milbourn, Glen Allen Watts, and Richard Milbourn, and several grandchildren.

Candy O. Miller, 61, of Basehor, Kansas passed away Friday, June 21, 2024 at her home after a brief battle with cancer.&nbsp;Candy was born August 13, 1962 in Kansas City, Kansas to Ordell David Stuart and Dorothy Mae Howard.&nbsp;

She was an ER Nurse at Providence Medical Center, Kansas City, KS before she married Robert G. Miller, December 4, 1982; together they settled in Basehor with 2 children before building a summer home in the Lake of the Ozarks, residing there for many years. Candy loved traveling, playing bingo, watching Kansas City Chiefs football, boating, fishing, playing video games, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Veronica (Joshua) Donovan, Basehor, KS; Robert “Bobby” G. Miller, II, St. Joseph, MO; sister, Debbie (Martin) Kolbus, Florence, South Carolina; sister-in-law, Gloria Null, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; and beloved grandchildren Liam and Finn Donovan.

Brandon Scott Moore, 29, of Savannah passed away June 23, 2024, in St. Joseph. Brandon was born January 16, 1995, in St. Joseph to Doyle Moore and Vonda Lee (Kleeman) Moore Edwards.

Brandon was preceded in death by his grandparents.

He is survived by his mother, Vonda (Mark) Edwards; father, Doyle Moore (Jean); sisters, Tiffany and Felicia Moore (Wade), and Mikaela Stockman (Brendan); brother, Cody Moore; nieces and nephews: Linkin, Sophia Annalee, Ranger, Lucas, and Sophia Irene; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Brandon enjoyed lawn care working for his mother's landscaping company. He was clever, often shared random history and animal facts. He was a natural born treasure hunter, music lover and self-taught casual dancer. He loved racing, football and was always ready to lend a hand or lift sad spirits. Brandon was quick witted, good natured and never held a grudge for long. He was a great person and will be very missed.

Brandon has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith Savannah Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 29, 2024, 2:00 PM at Heaton-Bowman-Smith Savannah Chapel.

Marcia Ann (Layland) Brown, 80, joined her beloved husband Merlin in heaven on Saturday morning, June 22, 2024.

Marcia married Merlin Brown in 1962 and together they built a life centered on their faith in Christ and family.

Marcia was a secondary education teacher until she found her calling in nursing, first at Woodson Children’s Psychiatric Hospital and then retiring from the State Psychiatric Hospital.

Marcia and Merlin opened their home to anyone in need from exchange students to extended family and friends in crisis and her gift for genuine hospitality made each one feel like family.

Marcia was quirky, compassionate, stubborn, passionate, loyal, forgiving, generous to a fault, sneaky when she wanted to be, outspoken and yet private about her feelings. She loved without boundaries, and she will be well and truly missed.

Marcia is survived by daughter, Laura (Eric) Elder; son, Robert (Jami) Brown; grandchildren, Greggory (Noelle) Hazelrigg, Blake (Zach) Elder, Austin (Keelyn) Elder, Zach Brown and Briana Brown, great-grandchildren, Sophia, Gabriel and Brynlee Hazelrigg; and many friends who she loved like family.

Morrill, KS &nbsp;---Karolyn Kay Chadwell passed away June 23, 2024.

She was born May 12, 1941, the daughter of Herbert and Henrietta (Herbster) Witt. She graduated from Morrill High School class of 1959.

Karolyn married Bernard Chadwell September 18, 1960. They made their home on the farm west of Morrill, KS, where they farmed and raised livestock. She was a 4-H cooking leader for the Morrill Tip Top 4-H Club and served as the cooking superintendent for the Brown County&nbsp; 4-H Fair for many years. She also served on the Brown County 4-H Extension Board. Karolyn was a Sunday school teacher for many years and also was a cook at the Morrill School.

She is survived by her Husband Bernard of the home, sons Bradley Chadwell and wife Kim of Morrill, Kevin Chadwell and his wife Pam of Morrill, a daughter Lisa Uhri and her husband Mark of Dawson, NE, grandchildren: Brady Chadwell and wife Marcala of Morrill, Derek Chadwell of Morrill, Lindsey Chadwell of Hiawatha, Tyler Uhri of Dawson, NE and Jodie Uhri of Dawson, great-grandchildren: Brystol, Hope and Blair; a sister Irene Clossen of Sabetha, KS

Phyllis was a long-time Holt County resident, farmer,&nbsp;herb grower, good cook, and bird watcher, who raised&nbsp;three children, along with her husband John C. Banks,&nbsp;on the family farm east of Forbes.

She is preceded in death by husband John Charles&nbsp;Banks; sisters Lois June (Johnson) Cannon and Dolores&nbsp;(Johnson) Davis; brother Gary Johnson; and&nbsp;grandson Bayley Banks.

Phyllis R Banks 1922 - 2024

Larry was born on May 22, 1940 in Terril, Iowa to Wayne and Lucille Finger. He passed away from pancreatic cancer on June 21, 2024 at home with his family by his side.

In the 7th grade, the family moved to Southern Minnesota. Larry graduated from Tracy High School in 1958 and in 2023 was inducted into the Tracy Hall of Fame. He attended the University of Minnesota, receiving a Bachelors Degree in Physics in 1964 and continued his education by receiving a PhD in Mineralogy in 1967. At that point they moved to a Maryland suburb of Washington, D.C. where they lived for 32 years.

In June of 1962 he married Denise Lanning of Clara City, Minnesota. They were married for 62 years. To this union were born two daughters, Cynthia and Pamela. The family did extensive traveling both in the U.S. and internationally, having traveled to 36 different countries and islands.

Larry was doing research in mineralogy crystallography at the Carnegie Institution of Washington and had the mineral “fingerite” named after him. He also was heavily involved in computers and programming. In 1996 he received a Humboldt fellowship from the German Government and spent a year researching at the University of Bayreuth. His pioneering research throughout his career continues to guide and influence crystallography today.

After retiring in 1999, Larry and Denise became full-time Rvers and spent the Winters in Mesa, AZ. In 2003 they purchased their home in Smithville, MO where they live. Here he was involved in refurbishing computers for the underprivileged.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife, Denise, and two daughters, Cindi (Ben) Brinson, Pam (Frank) LaRocca, two grandsons, Riggins and Cael, one brother, Duane, one sister,, Bette Ourada, sisters-in-law Marlys Willard and Shari Lanning, and several nieces and nephews.

At Larry’s request, there will be no funeral. Visitation will be held at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home in Smithville, MO on June 27, 2024 from 6-8 PM.

Larry was born on May 22, 1940 in Terril, Iowa to Wayne and Lucille Finger. He passed away from pancreatic cancer on June 21, 2024 at home with his family by his side.In the 7th grade, the family moved to Southern Minnesota. Larry graduated from Tracy High School in 1958 and in 2023 was inducted into the Tracy Hall of Fame. He attended the University of Minnesota, receiving a Bachelors Degree in Physics in 1964 and continued his education by receiving a PhD in Mineralogy in 1967. Patricia (Pat) Louise Larson, 80, of Cole Turkey Acres, at Lake of the Ozarks, Mo, passed away unexpectedly May 25, 2024. She was raised on a dairy farm and attended a one room school. 

She graduated in 1960 from ACCHS in Effingham, KS. After graduating she was a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell. She went to beautician school and later had her own beauty shop in Nortonville, KS.

A Celebration of Life service is being planned in Atchison, Sunday, June 23rd, at the Becker-Dyer Funeral Home from 2 pm to 4 pm.

Patricia was born June 3, 1943, the daughter of Aloysius and Mary (Raffety) Erpelding. In the seventies, a medical condition with her hands forced a career change, and she became the general manager of The Grain Bin Super Club in Garden City Ks for several years. Her nephew was born in 84, and she decided to be closer to family in eastern Kansas. She went to work for Koss Construction building the “new” Highway 73, where she met Ed. They were married and traveled with Koss. Later they moved to Tipton, MO and Patty worked for Orvis Gokey. After retiring they moved to the lake.

She loved watching the Chiefs and the Royals and feeding the birds. She was a 22-year member of Osage Valley ladies Auxiliary. She is survived by sister Coleen (Bill) Murphy, stepdaughter Kathy Larson, step son-in-law Brian Hunsburger, 2 step granddaughters, Abigail Hunsburger (Hunter) and Megan (Dusty) Young, and one step grandson, Sawyer Young, one nephew, 4 nieces, 1 great niece, 5 great nephews, 1 great-great niece and 1 great-great nephew. Also surviving are her many classmates of the Class of 1960.

Aneia G. Marriott 56, of DeKalb, Missouri, passed away Friday, June 21, 2024 in a St. Joseph, MO hospital. She was born July 10, 1967 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of Dixie and Richard "Dickie" Matthews. 

She graduated from DeKalb High School, and worked as the bus driver for the DeKalb and Rushville Schools. She liked her animals, dogs, goats, and chickens, watching the KC Chiefs and Nascar, and driving the kids on the bus. 

Aneia was preceded in death by her parents. 

She is survived by her husband, Jim Marriott of the home, sons, Caleb Marriott of DeKalb, MO, son, Riley (Nikki) Marriott of Jamestown, TN, step son, Jimmy (Amy) Marriott, and step daughter, Jessica Marriott, grandchildren, Sol &amp; Sora Marriott, Lauren, Garrett, &amp; Emma Marriott, and Ashton Clayton, brothers, Brian of Savannah, MO, Chris and Eric Matthews both of St. Joseph, sister, Marlene (Kevin) Koehler of De Kalb, MO, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Robert "Robbie" Mann, 67, Higginsville, Missouri; passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2024.

Robbie was born on November 25, 1956 in St. Joseph, Missouri, to the late Robert and Teresa (Burns) Mann, Sr. &nbsp;

Robbie enjoyed working at the Higginsville Habilitation Center, where he lived. He loved to travel and take in the sights, and was a Chiefs fan.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Jean Mann.

Mabel Joy Hood was born in Denver, Missouri on January 6, 1930 to Wray and Mabel Parker and passed away on June 20, 2024. She was the middle child of five, with two older and two younger brothers. Glenn Parker, her surviving brother, is from Colorado. She was preceded in death by brothers Gene, Bob, and Raymond Parker.

Joy married Donnis L. Hood, her high school sweetheart, on September 12, 1948 in Pickering, Missouri. They have two daughters, Donna (Danny) of Parkville, Missouri and Darla (Dave) of Dearborn, Missouri. They have four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Joy worked for a short time in Pickering’s grocery store while her husband was overseas with the army. After his return she began her lifelong passion of being a homemaker, mom, grandma and great-grandma. She loved family events and holidays, planning many a Sunday afternoon family picnic or holiday get-together with her folks and all the extended family.

Joy enjoyed sewing (even making prom formals for the girls) and needlework (many family members were honored with one of her many beautifully cross-stitched quilts), square dancing, church activities, bowling on various leagues, cooking and baking, playing cards and board games, reading, watching the Royals, visiting the lake house on the Lake of the Ozarks where she hosted many friends who enjoyed fishing, boating, and just relaxing – even though she was not fond of being on the water. She and Don enjoyed traveling across the US by car, often stopping to visit friends and family along the way. They also enjoyed a number of cruises, departing out of the southern states. Later in life, she loved her weekly coffee with her friends and cherished visits from family and friends. Even though she was a quiet lady and small in stature, she cared deeply for her family and friends and had a quick sense of humor even into her 90’s.

Joseph Stehr, 67, of St. Joseph, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2024.

Joseph was born November 18, 1956 to Gregory and Frances Stehr in Nuremberg, Germany. He graduated from Bishop LeBlond High School and attended Missouri Western State University. &nbsp;

Joseph loved science and Star Wars. His favorite holidays were Christmas and the 4th of July. He had a very kind heart.

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents.

Alfred Edward “Sonny” Obermeyer, 83, of Platte City, MO passed away June 10, 2024.

He was born on August 29, 1940, to Alfred Edward Obermeyer, Sr. and Martha (Bacchus) Obermeyer in Tampa, KS where he grew up and attended school. He enjoyed fishing in Canada on land his dad had purchased.

Alfred married Judith Ellis. They lived Rushville, MO and later moved to Atchison, KS where they raised their two daughters Dana Rae and Gail Lynn and made their home.

He was in the National Guard and graduated from brick layers school. He was a skilled brick and stone mason and was known for his skill of making knives. His knives were highly sought after and he made and sold several knives over the years. He loved the outdoors, loved fishing and accomplished fur trapper.

He was preceded in death by his parents Martha and Al Obermeyer; and his brother Fred Obermeyer and his sisters Margaret, Sandra and Geraldine.

Alfred is survived by his daughters Dana (Steve) Knighton and Gail Hanson; grandchildren Jacklyn Knighton, Kalvin Knighton, Britney (Dan) Stapleton and Johnathan “Sage” Collins; three great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

Norma “Joann” Frump, 88, of Severance, Kansas, passed away Friday, June 21, 2024, at the Wathena Nursing &amp; Rehabilitation Center in Wathena, Kansas.

Joann was born on January 5, 1936, in Elwood, Kansas to Norman W. Sr. and Mona (Kendall) Liechti.

She was a member of Troy Christian Church, Troy, Kansas. Joann worked for K-Mart, Wathena Nursing Home and was a volunteer EMT for the Elwood Ambulance.

Joann married Billy E. Frump on June 30, 1954, in Elwood, Kansas. He preceded her in death on August 6, 2017. She was also preceded in death by her parents, son, Billy Lynn Frump, grandson, Joey Frump, sister, Phyllis “Jean” Vincent and brothers, Ronald Liechti and Norman W. “Bill” Liechti Jr.

Survivors: children, Jack Frump (Sue), Gary “Joe” Frump and Christi Lysaght. 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Siblings, Marietta Burchett and Dennis Liechti. Numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorothy Lee Flory, 99, of Nortonville, KS went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 20, 2024, at the Midland Care Hospice House in Topeka, KS with family by her side.

Dorothy Lee Henry was born on June 4, 1925, in Kansas City, MO., the daughter of James H. and Edna Lorene (Ellerman) Henry. She graduated from Atchison County Community High School, in Effingham in 1943. She lived in the Nortonville area most of her life. Dorothy was a very active life-long member of the Nortonville Pleasant Grove Christian Church including serving in the Ladies’ Aide and was the Sunday School Secretary and church historian. She enjoyed crafts and embroidering quilts that she gave to family. Dorothy was always busy working on family pictures and history. She taught herself how to use a computer at the age of 70 which allowed her to keep in touch with many people online. Dorothy had a servant’s heart. She was always helping her elderly neighbors and friends in the nursing home. She cared very much about others.

Dorothy &amp; Jim took in foster children for many years. She worked as a kitchen aide for the Village Villa Nursing Home, Nortonville for over 30 years. Dorothy was a trail blazer in helping to start Meals on Wheels in Nortonville. She was named the Volunteer of the Year by the Jayhawk Area Agency on Aging for her many years of service.

She graduated from Atchison County Community High School, in Effingham in 1943. She lived in the Nortonville area most of her life. Dorothy was a very active life-long member of the Nortonville Pleasant Grove Christian Church including serving in the Ladies’ Aide and was the Sunday School Secretary and church historian. She enjoyed crafts and embroidering quilts that she gave to family. Dorothy was always busy working on family pictures and history. She taught herself how to use a computer at the age of 70 which allowed her to keep in touch with many people online. Dorothy had a servant’s heart. She was always helping her elderly neighbors and friends in the nursing home. She cared very much about others.Dorothy &amp; Jim took in foster children for many years. She worked as a kitchen aide for the Village Villa Nursing Home, Nortonville for over 30 years. Dorothy was a trail blazer in helping to start Meals on Wheels in Nortonville. She was named the Volunteer of the Year by the Jayhawk Area Agency on Aging for her many years of service.Dorothy was married to James P. Flory on Nov. 28, 1942, in Bastrop, TX. Mr. Flory preceded her in death on March 16, 1989. Survivors include four daughters, Patty (Butch) Streeter, Copper Canyon, TX., Judy (Dennis) Smith, Muscotah, KS., Barbara (Bill) Robey, Nortonville, KS., and Vicki (Chris) Walters, Merriam, KS, nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Her parents, husband James, a grandson Aaron Walters, two brothers Donald and Alfred Henry, and two sisters Vivian Hoerner, and Naomi Hook preceded her in death.<figure>
