Robert "Bob" Melton 82, of St. Joseph, MO, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2024 in Plattsburg, MO. He was born April 13, 1942 in Duenweg, MO, son of Pearl and James Melton. 

He retired from the State of Missouri as a Psychiatric Aid. Bob's passion was country music, and he was a member of the Country Music Association. He loved performing, playing guitar, and singing in local country bands. Bob's sense of humor was exceptional, and his jokes and antics will be missed. 

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Bonnie "June" Melton, son, Jeffrey Melton, brothers, James "Cliff" Melton and Darrell Melton, and sister, Sylvia Matson. 

Survivors include: daughter, Cheryl (Rodney) Carpenter of St. Joseph, MO, grandsons, Jacob and Jonathan Carpenter, Jason Skeen and Christopher Melton, 8 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at Rupp Funeral Home. Funeral services and public live stream; 2:00 pm, Friday, June 21, 2024 at Rupp Funeral Home, Pastor Larry Gray officiating. The Interment will be at King Hill Cemetery.

Robert "Bob" Melton 1942 - 2024

Quentin and Mary Hayworth, plus their four children moved from Albuquerque New Mexico to Weston in December 1966 because of Quentin's work. 

Mary expressed shock at how green Missouri was, having been used to the New Mexico hot and sweltering deserts. The family quickly began attending the Weston United Methodist church, enjoying bible school, choir, and boy scouts.Before her life in Weston. Mary was born in Pampas Texas, but her family moved to New Mexico when she was 4 years old. She attended the St Mary's catholic school , worked in the Creamland Dairy, a teller at the Ruidoso Downs’ race track while attending the university of New Mexico.

Fate led Quentin to New Mexico in 1953 from Iowa to visit friends, and ended up finding a new job at Creamland Dairy, and along the way, his loving wife Mary. After their Marriage in 1954, the Army called on Quentin to serve in Germany. Mary and son Carl followed, despite Mary never being a fan of boats at all. Mary’s family returned to New Mexico in 1956, bringing back a new daughter, Lynette. 

Once Quentin finished his education in English, receiving his bachelors degree, he moved the family to Weston in 1966 to work at the federal prison in Leavenworth, where he transferred into the department of Labor. He retired with a distinguished career in federal service after serving for 23 years.

Mary worked at Schindler's Market, 21 years as the Weston City clerk and on top of it all, make short return appearances when the city needed a helping hand. Mary's other passion was playing piano for the children’s choir, adult choir duets with Percy Schindler, and then piano for the traditional service for over 50 years. All to support others who were interested in making music and spreading joy. In her retirement Mary pursued becoming one with nature. Obtaining a green thumb that could make anything grow, deer watching, feeding birds, and watching the various critters lounging in her lush yard.

In the end, Mary’s greatest joy was helping and watching her children grow and do well in the world; Carl, Lynette, Daniel, and Robert. All of them benefited from Mary’s kind words, firm resolve, and life lessons. Sadly, Mary Lost her Husband Quentin in December 2000, and her son Daniel in June of 2010. Daniels’ wife Lynn remains in Diamond, Missouri. Carl, Lynette, and Robert remain sad in their loss but proud of their mother’s achievements, because they know the world is a better place because Mary was here. Carl lives in Longview, Texas with his wife Susan, and daughter Cate. His daughter, Carly lives in Dallas. Robert also lives in Longview. Lynette and her family have also made Weston their home. Her husband, Tom. Her daughter, Kristin. Along with her grandson, Cayden.

Please join her family in celebrating Mary’s 90 years of life and all the great things she has done for those who have met her.A visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the United Methodist Church of Weston; followed by an 11:00 a.m. funeral service. Phillis Muntz, 88, Atchison, Kansas, died Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at her residence.&nbsp;

Phillis was born June 2, 1936, in Vermillion, Kansas, the daughter of Ira B. and Bessie (Hazel) Silver. In her youth her family moved to southern Missouri where she attended school.&nbsp;

She worked in housekeeping for the Ellsworth County Hospital. Phyllis enjoyed shopping and putting together puzzles. One of her great passions was tending to roses, she had a rosebush everywhere she lived.&nbsp;

Survivors include her two sons, Ronald (Melissa) Muntz, Atchison, KS, Richard (Greg Lowe) Muntz, Philadelphia, PA, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her siblings.

Richard Edward "Rick" Weyer 67, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2024, surrounded by family. He was born July 1, 1956, in St. Joseph, MO. 

He attended Benton High School and married Deborah Despain on January 15, 1978. &nbsp;He was the owner operator of several local businesses throughout his life, including Weyer's auto salvage, and M&amp;R auto repair. His longest running business was Big Lake Bait and Tackle where he was doing what he loved most. Rick enjoyed fishing, boating, and camping, but most of all spending time with his friends and family.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his grandparents who raised him, Wilma and Fernando Punzo, his mother, Donna Markham, father, Henry Weyer, sister, Deborah, and brothers, Bob &amp; Donnie. 

Survivors include wife, Deborah Weyer of the home, children: Mike (Willa) Messa, Mandy (Jeff) Smith, Sandy Messa, Terry (Theresa) Messa, Stacy (Jeremy) Lucker, and Stephanie (Mark) Morris, granddaughter Bailey, and several other grandchildren and great grandchildren, siblings; Sheila, Barbara, Lloyd and Brad, nephew Teddy Weyer, son in law, Leroy Gibson, and his beloved dog Orly.

Adelina “Sis” Thompson, 74, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2024.

She was born May 5, 1950 in St. Joseph to Jose and Jessie (Sharp) Martinez.

Sis married Richard D. Thompson on September 9, 1989. He preceded her in death on July 5, 2010.

She had worked at Stetson Hats for many years.

Sis enjoyed shooting pool and going to the casino, where she sometimes had very good luck. An accomplished bowler, Sis was sergeant-at-arms of her bowling league and named to the Missouri Women’s Bowling Hall of Fame in 2005.

She also loved spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her parents; and siblings, Merced Martinez, Greg Martinez, Mary Martinez, and Manuel Martinez.

James Nichols “Nick” Brann, 83, of Gladstone, Missouri, died Sunday June 16, 2024, at McCrite Plaza in Kansas City Missouri. Born on November 28, 1940, in Kansas City to James L. and Mable H. (Candler) Brann. Nick attended Shawnee Mission High School for 3 years and was a 1958 graduate of Plattsburg High School. He received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri Columbia, Missouri. He was a member of Unity of Kansas City North, Classic Thunderbird International Club and Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. Nick worked in sales for over 25 years with the Robert Bosch Corporation. &nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents, uncle and aunt Marvin and Mary Ellen Candler.

Survivors include his wife of 34yrs. Barbara Stonner of the home; brother Stanley (Rose) Brann; nephew Jacob (Stacy) Brann, nieces Audrey (Brian Deer) Brann all of KCMO and Jennifer (Matt) Hughes Ft. Vailla Reece-Dittemore 73, of DeLand, FL., formerly of St. Joseph, MO., passed away Saturday, June 8, 2024 in a  Deland, FL. hospital. She was born December 3, 1950 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of the late Marjorie and James Bird. 

She graduated from Missouri Western State University and was a Registered Nurse. She married Ronnie Dittemore on  June 28, 1991. 

Vailla was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Dr. Ronnie DeVere Dittemore, Ed.D., brothers, James "Wesley", Rodney, Robert and Leonard Bird, sisters, Diana Hammill, and Mary Bostic. 

Survivors include sons, Harry "Sonny" (Keri) Reece III of DeLand, FL, Dr. Bryan (Lenora, J.D.) Reece PHD of Great Plains, TX, stepsons, Mike (Gina, R.N.) King City, MO: Vern Parker Herzberger, 83, of King City, MO passed away Monday, June 17, 2024 at his home. He was born July 18, 1940 in Virginia, Illinois the son of Audace and Anna (Glenn) Herzberger.

On December 21, 1963, he married Jeri Ann Young in University City, Missouri. She preceded him in death on December 20, 2019.

After serving in the United States Army, Vern became a farmer and farmed most of his life. He had a passion for riding motorcycles. He was a member of the King City Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his wife, Jeri, he was also preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Donna Herzberger.

Survivors include his daughters, Dawn Rothermel of Manchester, Connecticut, Denise Herzberger of Las Vegas, Nevada and Dianna (Jay) Talkemeyer of Arenzville, Illinois; 3 grandsons, Alex Rothermel, Salt Lake City, UT, Noah Rothermel, Manchester, CT and Matthew, (Faith) Talkemeyer, Arenzville, IL and 2 sisters, Jane (Jerry) Herzberger Brown, Columbus, OH and Dottie Herzberger Knight, Virginia, IL.

“Russ” was born July 15, 1942 in Aunt Ina’s home in Nodaway, Iowa, the son of Paul Richard and Dorothy (Williams) Northup. He graduated from Villisca Community High School in 1960, Villisca, Iowa. He then attended the former Clarinda Junior College in Clarinda, Iowa, where he played basketball for two years. He then attended University of Nebraska, Lincoln, Nebraska and graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville in 1965. He was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity and was their Distinguished Advisor for twelve years, recognized in 1993 by its national chapter as Grand Prytanis Key Leader, and member of Order of the Shield. While attending college he worked for Chicago-Burlington &amp; Quincy Railroad during various summers.

On May 20, 1966, he entered the United States Navy and began Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island. He married Rita Renee Sharp on December 30, 1966, at the First Christian Church, Mound City, Missouri. They moved to Groton, Connecticut in 1967, where Russ attended Submarine School as part of the United States Navy. In July, 1967, they moved to Key West, Florida, where he was assigned to the U.S.S. Atule SS-403. In June 1969, their first daughter, Paula Renee, was born in Key West. Then he transferred to U.S. Navy Supply Corp School in Athens, Georgia. He then moved and was assigned to U.S.S. Ethan Allen SSBN-608 in Groton, Connecticut in 1970, where Russ was stationed until 1972. He then transferred to Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, where he was assigned to the Ships Parts Control Center from 1972 to 1974, where their second daughter, Anne, was born in Camp Hill, PA. In 1974, the family moved to Singapore where Russ was Supply-Contracting Officer at U.S. Navy Office Singapore, where he was stationed until 1977, when they moved back to Mound City, Missouri. Captain Northup retired from the United States Navy in 1994 after 28 years of service.

Upon moving back to Mound City, he took over day to day operations of Sharp Ford-Mercury until 1983. In 1983, he became President of Tiffany Care Centers, Inc. in Mound City and served on the board until selling the business in 1998. In 1989, he returned to Northwest Missouri State University to complete his MBA and became Assistant Professor, receiving “Teacher of The Year” in 1992. During his tenure at NWMSU he served as advisor for the American Marketing Association and the Turkish Student Association, as Faculty Athletic Representative from 1998 to 2004, and a stint as the athletics department’s compliance director. He received the 1997 Tower Service Award for Faculty and the 2004 Distinguished Faculty Award from Northwest Missouri State Alumni Association, retiring from NWMSU in 2005. Russ was inducted into the NWMSU “M” Club Hall of Fame with a Meritorious Service Award on October 17, 2008.

He was a member of Christian Fellowship Church in Mound City, the Paul P. Shutts American Legion Post #121, and an avid fan of Southern Gospel music. They loved to travel and spend time with their family.

He was preceded by his parents, Paul and Dorothy (Williams) Northup; Father-In-Law and Mother-In-Law, Garth and Dorotha (Depew) Sharp.

Survivors include his wife, Rita Northup of the home; two daughters and their husbands, Paula Renee and Jonathan Miller of Mound City and Parkville, Missouri, and Anne Nicole and James Dudeck of Oregon, Missouri; four grandchildren, Sarah Hill and her husband, Brendan of Kansas City, Joel Dudeck of Springfield, Missouri, Isaac Dudeck and Elise Dudeck of Oregon, Missouri; brother, Dennis Northup (Reva) of Springfield, Missouri; two nephews, Brian Northup (Lisa), and Brent Northup (Rosey); and love her like a daughter, Kate Jones (Mike).

Memorial Service 1:00 PM Thursday, July 11, 2024 at Christian Fellowship Church, Mound City. Family will receive friends following the service. Inurnment at a later date, I.O.O.F. Dennis Jay Buckler, 60, passed away June 14, 2024 at his home in Platte City, Missouri.

Dennis was born May 8, 1964 to Jackie Ray and Linda Sue Buckler. 

He attended high school in Platte City. As a young man, he enjoyed tinkering with things. He worked as a general laborer, and most recently was employed at Taco Bell in Platte City. Dennis lived life on the “wild” side and enjoyed traveling.

Dennis is survived by his mother, Linda Buckler-Moore of Platte City. He was preceded in death by his father, Jackie Ray Buckler, sister Donna Sue Boydston, and brother Jackie Ray Buckler Jr.

James "Mike" Conard Jr. 67, of Country Club, Missouri passed away Saturday June 15, 2024 at his home. He was born November 26, 1956 in St. Joseph, Missouri. He is the son of the late Phyllis &amp; James Conard. He married Judy Kowalski-Cross on May 23, 2021 and she survives of the home. 

He graduated from Benton High School, and Missouri Western State College with a degree in Political Science, and was a member of the TKE Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He worked as a fire service technician. Mike enjoyed live music, traveling, the outdoors, working on projects, and spending time with family and friends. He was a former member St. James Catholic Church. Mike was preceded to heaven by his parents. 

He is survived wife Judy of the home, daughters, Brooke (Joe) Park, Basehor, KS, Nikki (Zach) Davis, and Kelce (Ryan) Hanna both of Savannah, MO, brothers, Galand (Jani) Conard, and Derek (Carol) Conard, a sister, Taira Conard (Paul Mitchell) four grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.&nbsp;Mike was a great dad to his daughter Brooke and both Judy’s, Nikki and Kelce, a great brother and awesome friend. He loved adventures and exploring the universe, meeting interesting people and doing Mike things on Mike time. 

While we lost our most beloved man, many have lost a friend that loved him. If anyone needed him for help, he’d be right there to help and supervise. There was so much more to him than just a husband, he was also a dad, colleague, coworker, friend, cousin, son, brother, uncle, stand-in figure to the fatherless, a great knowledge of music, the list goes on and on! He wishes that we laugh, reminisce, and smile together during this time when you think of him! And to always remember on his behalf, “Don’t be a BOB!”

The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm on Thursday with a prayer service to begin at 7:00 pm Thursday at the Rupp Funeral Home.

Mary C. Searcy, 86, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2024 at a local health care facility. She was born October 26, 1937 in St. Joseph, daughter of Wava and Andrew Biller. 

She attended the Convent of the Sacred Heart. She married Gerald Searcy on January 11, 1954. Mary worked at Quaker Oats retiring after 27 years. She was a wonderful grandmother, who loved spending time with her grandchildren, and she also enjoyed going to the casino. 

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Searcy, her parents, brother, Fr. Andy Biller, Jr., sister, Ruth Athay, brothers-in-law, Glen Searcy, Ernie Cooper, and Chuck Athay, and grandson, Joshua Searcy. 

Survivors include: children, Barbara Hazelwood, Gerald "Jerry" (Lori) Searcy Jr., Monte (Diane) Searcy, Ginger Jackson, all of St. Joseph, sisters, Alberta Cooper of Branson, MO and Rita Ward of St. Joseph, sister-in-law, Nadine Searcy of St. Joseph, her grandchildren, Shannon, Melissa, Wyatt, Noah, Heather, Lauren, Kallie, Chelsey, &amp; Chad, 21 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Loyd "Billy" William Reese Jr. 58, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2024 at his home. He was born March 8, 1966 in Atchison, KS, son of Linda and Loyd Reese Sr. 

He worked at Lee Grover Construction and Herner Construction. Billy enjoyed riding his Harley, being around people, and was the life of the Party, and he was a proud member of Union Local 579. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Linda Louise Reese, and grandchild, baby Ledford. 

Survivors include: father, Lloyd Reese Sr. of St. Joseph, MO, wife, Debora Reese, daughters, Misty (Jason) Hannemann and Terrenda Ledford, grandchildren, Alyssa &amp; Jacob Bonnett, and Preston Ledford.

Sarah Mae Maldonado, 62, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2024. Born on April 17, 1962, in Big Springs, Texas, she was the beloved daughter of James Ray Lancaster and Nancy Jewel Meeks.

Sarah grew up in a lively household with her three older sisters, Nancy, Susie, Eva Lancaster, and a stepsister, Michele Bower of Statesville, Arkansas. In 1979, she married the love of her life, Luis R. Maldonado. Their union was blessed with four children: James, Jose, Vicki, and Christopher Maldonado.

Known for her generous heart and deep love for her family, Sarah cherished every moment with her children. She had a particular fondness for soda pop, chips, chocolate bars, and especially chocolate cake.

Sarah's family grew with the addition of nine grandchildren: Kasey, Nicole, Scottie, Logan, Ava, Marci, Amy, Marcus, M.G., Gabriella and Ashin, and five great-grandchildren: Alora, Asher, Levi, Lucas. She was thrilled to learn she would soon welcome her sixth great-grandchild, Damien.

Preceding her in death were her beloved husband, Luis R. Maldonado; her parents, James Ray Lancaster and Nancy Jewel Meeks; and her older sister, Nancy Lancaster.

Sarah is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and sisters Susie and Eva Lancaster, and stepsister Michele Bower. Her legacy of love and warmth will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.

Sarah Mae Maldonado 1962 - 2024

She was a graduate of Savannah High School and attended Gard Business College. Pamela and her husband owned and operated Wall Brothers Chevrolet in Savannah, Missouri, and P &amp; S Auto Auction in Elwood, Kansas. She was also owner and operator of The Village Shop and along with her son, owned and operated Missouri Auto Dealers Exchange.

Pamela was a member of Ashland United Methodist Church, former member of Savannah United Methodist Church, Rotary Club #32 and past President of Andrew County Business Professional Women’s Organization.

She enjoyed all sports, and the University of Missouri was always #1 in her mind. Pam loved horses and owned and showed them all over the Midwest. She was Miss High School Rodeo Missouri and also received honors from Aksarben and the American Royal.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Lloyd; her parents; and brother, Steve Boswell.

Survivors include children, Scott W. Wall (Christine), Michelle L. Wall (Willie), and Greg Wall (Billie Sue); grandchildren, Lexi, Claudia, Tiffani and Lindsay; two great-grandchildren, Ben and Addy; brother, Gregg Boswell (Dagmar); sister-in-law, Sherry Boswell; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pamela and her husband owned and operated Wall Brothers Chevrolet in Savannah, Missouri, and P &amp; S Auto Auction in Elwood, Kansas. She was also owner and operator of The Village Shop and along with her son, owned and operated Missouri Auto Dealers Exchange.Pamela was a member of Ashland United Methodist Church, former member of Savannah United Methodist Church, Rotary Club #32 and past President of Andrew County Business Professional Women’s Organization.She enjoyed all sports, and the University of Missouri was always #1 in her mind. Pam loved horses and owned and showed them all over the Midwest. She was Miss High School Rodeo Missouri and also received honors from Aksarben and the American Royal.She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Lloyd; her parents; and brother, Steve Boswell.Survivors include children, Scott W. Edna M. Shipley, 102, Cameron, Missouri, passed away Friday, June 14, 2024.

She was born on May 6, 1922, to George Sr. and Anna (Welebir) Transue in Newark, New Jersey.

She proudly served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean conflict. For her dedication and bravery, Edna was a well loved and respected resident at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cameron, Missouri.

Edna was a member of the Red Hat Society, participating in monthly meetings.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Ruth Pitts and George Transue Jr, and great-grandson, Dylan Ching.

Survivors include her children, Barbara Lemley, Kathryn Dietrich and Skip Shipley; seven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren who will continue to cherish her memory.

Bruce Wayne Hartman, 70, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, June 14, 2024.

He was born on November 10, 1953, to William “Bill” and Patricia (Bauman) Hartman in St. Joseph, Missouri. He graduated from Central High School.

Bruce enjoyed golfing and was an avid gamer. He was a handyman who took pride in being able to fix anything that he worked on.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Hartman; his stepfather, Gene Overton; and his sister, Ladonna Hartman.

Dale E. Strobel, 97, of Hiawatha, died June 12, 2024. He was born in Hiawatha, Kansas on May 11, 1927 to Orin and Lena (Lange) Strobel. He graduated from Hiawatha High School in 1945, enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1945 and served until January 1947. In May 1947 he married Yola Bee Brown. They moved to Emporia, Kansas where he attended Emporia State College to become a teacher. He graduated in May 1950 with a Bachelor of Science in Education Degree. He taught in Eureka, Kansas for 7 years. &nbsp;

The family moved to Newton, Kansas where Dale worked in the insurance business. The family moved to Hiawatha, Kansas in 1959 where he worked in the insurance business and the U.S. Post Office. &nbsp;In 1964 he returned to teaching in Powhattan, Kansas, teaching and receiving his Master’s Degree in Education in Counseling at Emporia State College in 1967. At that time the family moved to Plattsmouth, Nebraska, where Dale was a guidance counselor for 22 years. He was also Director of Head Start for 15 years. He received Outstanding Educator Award in 1972. He retired in 1989 and moved to Hiawatha, Kansas.

Dale was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church of Hiawatha serving as elder with the Christian Life Committee.

Dale had been a member of the Hiawatha Lion’s Club, Brown County Historical Society, Hiawatha American Legion, and Hiawatha Country Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Yola Bee (2015), daughter Dea Strobel (2020), five brothers, James Fraley, Morris Fraley, Henry Fraley, Harvey Strobel, and Orin Strobel, two sisters, Virginia Rudey and Agnes Lacy.

He is survived by one daughter, Doris (Larry) Kneisel, Hiawatha, KS, and four sons, Denis (Chris) Strobel, Bluffton, SC, Dewey Strobel, Valmeyer, IL, Daren (Shari) Strobel, Owatonna, MN, Dana Strobel (Tracy Powell) Plattsmouth (Beaver Lake) NE, ten grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

Richard W. Thomas, age 65, of Atchison, KS, went to his eternal home on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. Rick believed in Our Good Lord whole heartedly and believed that as a family anything was possible to get through because of God.&nbsp;

Rick was born on April 5, 1959, at Pepperrell Air Force Base in St. John’s Newfoundland, Canada, the son of Gary Thomas and Donna (Myers). He married Debra Felts on March 28, 1987, at the Carol Baptist Church in Atchison. They shared over forty-seven years of marriage and have two sons, Dylan Thomas (Penny) and Dalton Thomas, both of Atchison. One of the best parts of his life was when his two grandsons joined the family, Landyn Thomas and Carsyn Thomas. He is also survived by his mother, Donna Drimmel; three sisters, Pam Reno, Liz Billings and Lori Kearney; stepbrothers, Scott (Suzie) Drimmel, Daniel (Susie) Drimmel; stepsisters, Amelia (Clarence) Cluck, Andrea (Den) Hiner; numerous nieces and nephews and the family dog, Duke.&nbsp;

He is preceded in death by his father, Gary Thomas and stepfather, Larry Drimmel.&nbsp;

Rick worked in heavy equipment construction through the Local Union 101 for most of his working career until 1997. He owned Thomas Glazing for a few years before retiring in 2000. He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing, spending all his time with his family and friends, fishing, hunting and was an avid KC Chiefs and KC Royals fan. He will be missed by so many.

Rick’s life will be celebrated on Monday evening, June 17, 2024, with a visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 7:00 p.m. at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at a later date by his family and friends. Cremation care has been entrusted to the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.

Frances Elizabeth (Hirst) Walton was born on March 7, 1927, in Essex, Iowa. She was the ninth child of James Arthur and Minnie Etta (Coomes) Hirst. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Charles Walton, siblings Alice Henshaw, Thelma Hirst, Lalah Bright, Gladys Callison, Lucille Karrle, Arthur Hirst, Maxine Edwards, Junior Hirst, LaDonna Good, daughters Sherry Walton and Sonja Bowers, and son-in-law Rich Kennedy.

Growing up in a large family, Frances was surrounded by love and the values of hard work and community service which she carried throughout her life. Charles &amp; Frances were married on December 30, 1945. Their union brought forth four daughters: Sandra, Sherry, Sally and Sonja. The family expanded to include ten grandchildren – Kim (Cindy) Kennedy, Brett (Kimberly) Kennedy, Brian (Aimee) Kennedy, Shelly Wampler, Liana (Jared) Vessell, Bob (Brandi) Lillard, Jamie (Phil) Brooks, Brandy (Scott) Lance, Brooke (Jeff) Holzwarth, and Andrea Bowers. Frances also celebrated the joy of twelve great-grandchildren: Andrew (Brandi), Bailey, Jacob, Kaden and Dakoda Kennedy, Lucas and Anna Vessell, Kason Lance, Madison and Owen Lillard, Ellie and Porter Brooks; and two great-great grandchildren Rosalie and Ruger Kennedy. She is survived by her daughters Sandra Kennedy and Sally Lillard, son-in-laws Dennis Lillard &amp; Rick Bowers, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and a multitude of nieces and nephews.

Frances graduated from Central High School in St. Joseph in 1944. Before her marriage, she worked as a telephone operator and bookkeeper. As she began her family, Frances devoted herself to being a homemaker and community leader. She was deeply involved in her daughters’ lives, from sewing matching outfits and cheerleader uniforms to teaching Sunday school classes and leading 4-H and Vacation Bible School activities. Together with Charles, Frances was involved in various business ventures including farming, construction, livestock, a car dealership and housing developments. She played a vital role in these businesses, often working behind the scenes to ensure everything ran smoothly.

Frances was known for her generosity and unselfish lifestyle. Her perfectionism was evident in her beautiful penmanship, well-maintained gardens, and exceptional culinary skills. She learned these skills during the Great Depression, which shaped her values and work ethic. A devoted follower of God’s Word, Frances’ life was a testament to her love for others. Her faith guided her actions and her dedication to her family and community.

Frances joined her Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 15 surrounded by her loved ones. Her legacy of love, dedication, and service will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her. Kenneth Lee "Kenny" Marriott 79, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2024 in a St Joseph, MO hospital. He was born July 9, 1944 in St. Joseph, MO, son of the late Virginia and Leslie Marriott. 

He graduated from Benton High School class of 1962, and joined the United States Marine Corp. Kenny worked in beverage sales and warehouse management for K&amp;B distributing, Northwest Beverage, Golden Beverage, and St. Joe Beverage. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, who loved being in the outdoors, he also loved his Harley Davidson motorcycle, &nbsp;and his dog Sarge. Kenny never met a stranger, and was always willing to lend a helping hand. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Doris Maxine Kastner, and brother, Leslie "Pig" Marriott. 

Survivors include: son, Jerry (Lisa) Reynolds, daughter, Heather (Christopher) Crossfield, and son, Ken Marriott (Lucinda Bonea) all of St. Joseph, MO, 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and his brother, Roger (Carol) Marriott of St. Joseph, MO.&nbsp;

Kenneth "Kenny" Lee Marriott 1944 - 2024

She was born to Roy C. Harris and Doris J. Jones Harris on a farm in Dearborn, MO on June 16th, 1934. She Attended Camden Point Schools and graduated in 1951. She loved music. She was nominated Queen of the Football Team in high school. She was know as 'Susie'.

Susie married Alvin Ames in 1952 and one son was born, Rick Ames. She later married Charles Anderson. They had one son, Chuck Anderson.

She loved her country music and loved to dance. She worked at several different jobs and found her true passion, tending bars. Susie worked at 'Red Lion' Lounge in East Hills for several years. Then worked at CG's Connection for 12 years. She bought and operated her own around 1989, which she called 'Susie's Place' for 23 years and then retired.

She leaves the loves of her life, her beloved sons, Rick Ames and Kathy of St. Joseph, Mo; and Chuck Anderson and Jonna of Wallace, Mo. She leaves her beloved partner of the home, Bob Larabee. She had three grandchildren; Devvan McGinnis and Kip of Union Star, Mo; Quentin and Whitney Ames of Pea Ridge, Arkansas. Four Grandsons; Oliver, Charlie, Freeman and Sonny. Drew Ames and Kara. Two Grandsons; Nels and Oaks. Three sisters; Betty Mosser of Saint Joseph, Mo; Louise Taylor of Platte City, Mo; and Wilma Shanks of Camden Point, Mo.

Susie Leaves many good friends behind, Linda Patton. She and Linda were good buddies for many years. Also, Linda Bloss and Beverly Robertson were her good friends and many more.

Susie belonged to the Christian Church in Camden Point, Mo.

Visitation will be held for Susie at our Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel, Thursday, June 20th, 2024 from 5:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. A memorial service will follow the visitation. Internment at Union Cemetery Friday, June 21, at 10:00 A.M.

She was born to Roy C. Harris and Doris J. Jones Harris on a farm in Dearborn, MO on June 16th, 1934. She Attended Camden Point Schools and graduated in 1951. She loved music. She was nominated Queen of the Football Team in high school. She was know as 'Susie'.Susie married Alvin Ames in 1952 and one son was born, Rick Ames. She later married Charles Anderson. They had one son, Chuck Anderson.She loved her country music and loved to dance. She worked at several different jobs and found her true passion, tending bars. Susie worked at 'Red Lion' Lounge in East Hills for several years. Then worked at CG's Connection for 12 years. Joyce Ann Cadwallader was born July 16, 1949, to Alberta Mary Cadwallader whom proceeded her in death.

Joyce graduated from Lafayette High School in 1967. Joyce began her career as a CNA at Methodist Hospital in December 1967 until July 2004. Joyce then joined Living Community in 2004 and continued until her retirement in 2013 as a CMT.

Joyce enjoyed many travels over her lifetime to Hawaii for her 18th birthday, many trips to Las Vegas and to New Orleans and Washington DC. In later years she enjoyed throwing darts with the “girls from the Missourian”. Joyce cherished spending time with her nieces and nephews. Joyce enjoyed telling stories of days gone by and the family that preceded her. Joyce treasured her lifelong friendship with Kathy and all her children.

We want to thank all the many caregivers over the past few years that took care of Joyce. There are too many to mention but “THANK YOU”!

Sharon A. Ritter, 77, Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2024.

She was born June 05, 1947, to Marilyn McDowell and Joseph Rubel in Saint Joseph, Missouri.

Sharon was a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fan, she never missed a game, always cheering on her team with passion and pride.

She was dedicated to her family and cherished every moment spent with her family.

In her leisure time, Sharon loved challenging her mind with puzzle books and could often be found watching the Game Show Network, shouting out answers and enjoying the friendly competition.

She had a special affection for driving around town. Her late dog, Lucy Bella, was her constant companion on these drives, and the bond they shared was truly heartwarming.

She was preceded in death by her son, Jeff Ritter, and Grandchild, Tyler Payne.

Survivors include her children, Juanita, Charles “Bubby”, Freddie Jr “Tucky”, Jerry “Spider”, Kathy, Ronnie, Brian and Kim (daughter in law); Grandchildren, Chelsy, Nikki (Brandon), Kayla, Thomas (Tresity), Jacob, Nick, Jeremy, Seth, Michael, Aariah, Lashay, Libby, Blayton, Bryson and Regan; Great grandchildren, Marly, Wren (Vaida), Gemi, Braylon, Lincoln, Hudsyn, Ace’Lynn, Kweene, Ka’Zarah, Taisley, Dayton, Erileaina, Zayah, Drayven, Maddie and Zoey.
