Randall Jay Hill, 83, of King City, Missouri, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 29, 2025, at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, Missouri.
He was born on September 3rd, 1941, in Guilford, Missouri, the son of Kermit (BI) and Dorothy (Weathermon) Hill. He graduated from King City High School in 1959. He married Mary Smith on February 9th, 1962, in Union Star, Missouri. They were married 63 ½ years and spent their life in King City, Missouri. They had three children, Patsy (Rick) Gomez of Ozawkie KS, Kelley (Amy) Hill of Ankeny, IA, and Sherry (Eric) Hopkins of Kearney, MO. Randall worked several jobs in the trucking industry and traveled all across the country. He retired in 2006 from King City Seed and Storage after 22 years. In his retirement, he worked for local farmers during harvest.
He had a passion for the outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening, cutting wood, and a simple walk around Limpp’s Lake or the reservoir. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Wendell Hill; and a sister, Twila Miller.
Randall is survived by his wife, Mary of the home; his children; twelve grandchildren, Garrett (Kristin) McMillan, Ashton (Nick) Guerrero, Breck McMillan, Mason McMillan, Stephen (Heather) Gomez, Kim (Craig) Gomez, Tyler (Allyson) Hill, Brock (MaKayla) Hill, Drew Hill, Kelby (Launa) Hopkins, Haris (Isaac) Hopkins, and Macey Hopkins; eleven great grandchildren, Izzy, Grant, Brooks, Miles, Adalynn, Harper, Calum, Westin, Layla, Graham and Palmer. In addition, he is survived by a brother-in-law, Larry Miller; and many nieces and nephews.
Randall has been cremated under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, King City, Missouri. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 1, 2025 at the Hammer Memorial United Methodist Church, King City, Missouri. Inurnment will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 p.m. Monday at the church.
