Bianca Butts, known as “Bink”, passed away on June 6, 2023, with family by her side. Bianca&nbsp;was born in Bandoeng, Java, Indonesia in 1933, to Opera singer Rebecca Kreveld and wildcatter,&nbsp;Walter Henry Detert. 

At the age of two Bianca, moved with her parents to Texas, where&nbsp;Walter’s family lived. The Detert family moved to San Pedro, California and throughout their&nbsp;primary school years, Bianca and her two younger sisters, Iris and Sonja, performed as a singing&nbsp;group for churches, community events and festivals. 

Bianca became a naturalized citizen when&nbsp;she turned 18. She worked many jobs to earn money for college, including as a lifeguard at&nbsp;pools on the beach. In 1952 she was crowned as San Pedro’s princess for the Southern&nbsp;California Harbor Day celebration. Working the whole time, Bianca received an Associate&nbsp;degree from Los Angeles Harbor Junior College and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Library&nbsp;Sciences from San Jose State College (SJSC). While attending SJSC, she met the love of her life&nbsp;and husband of 61 years, ROTC Cadet Orville Butts. She did not make it easy on Orv because she didn’t intend to date any fraternity boys, making him ask her out numerous times before&nbsp;she finally agreed to go on a date with him to a New Years Eve party. 

She would tell you that&nbsp;she knew from their first New Years Eve kiss, that Orv was the one for her. Bianca has&nbsp;recounted that it took another four months before she got another such kiss, but she had been&nbsp;looking forward to it that entire time. Throughout their marriage, they would ask each other for a “New Years Eve kiss.” It was also known, to the delight of Orv’s Soldiers, that they could&nbsp;really “cut-a-rug.”&nbsp;It would be fair to say that Bianca served the US Army alongside Orville during his 30-year&nbsp;career. She was the finest example of a “Soldier’s Spouse” one could imagine. For the births of&nbsp;both of her children, Orv was away on military duty. She drove herself to the hospital for her&nbsp;first child, and when she got back from the hospital with him, she mowed the lawn. 

Toward the&nbsp;beginning of her marriage, she worked as a school librarian in several locations including Germany (Dept of Defense Schools) and Georgia. She was a phenomenal hostess for countless&nbsp;formal dinners, Commander’s New Year’s Day receptions, holiday parties, and spouse coffees,&nbsp;among a few; and never once needed a caterer. Her children have taken many of her amazing recipes for their families. Her creative and artistic streak was evident in everything she did.&nbsp;Throughout her time as an Officer’s wife (and yes, she would like to be called “wife,”), she took&nbsp;care of Soldiers’ spouses, families, and often Soldiers. She was a wonderful wife and mother, while fulfilling so many different roles, including many years as a Red Cross Volunteer. The&nbsp;home stability that Bianca provided, allowed her children to flourish academically, athletically,&nbsp;and socially despite the constant uprooting. And her unwavering support to Orv allowed him to achieve greatness in his Army Career.&nbsp;After retirement, Bianca and Orv settled in Lansing, Kansas. Their home became the home base for the Butts clan. 

Bianca became an avid bicyclist, tooling all over Leavenworth and&nbsp;surrounding areas with other retirees. She and Orv also began their time as RV trailer&nbsp;enthusiasts with friends from all around the country. She was also a fantastic gardener, who&nbsp;more than once received recognition for her beautiful yard from the City of Lansing. However,&nbsp;no matter what was going on in their lives, Bianca was always available to assist her two Army&nbsp;children and their families in any way, especially during PCS moves, even if it required driving&nbsp;across the country. After devastatingly losing her husband and best friend in 2018, Bianca&nbsp;charged forward bravely; however never got over the loss of Orv.

Bianca is survived by her son and his wife; her daughter MAJ (Ret) Jeannine Hamby (JAGC) and&nbsp;her husband LTC (Ret) Joel Hamby (FA); five grandchildren and one greatgrandchild; sister-in-law; and three nephews and one niece.

Bianca will be missed so much by family and friends. We love you Grammy and are so glad you&nbsp;are finally with Granddad again.

Grant Mirosh 40 of Kansas City Missouri formerly of Plattsburg Missouri died Friday June 2, 2023, at his residence. Born on April 19, 1983, in Springfield Missouri to John and Kelly (Grant) Mirosh. &nbsp;

He was a graduate of Plattsburg High School Class of 2001 and Valedictorian of his class. &nbsp;He worked as an electrical engineer. &nbsp;

Grant was preceded in death by his Mother Kelly and Maternal and Paternal grandparents. &nbsp;

Survivors include his father John Mirosh of Plattsburg Missouri; daughter Adeline Mirosh, sister Bridget Mirosh both of KCMO; Brother Travis Mirosh of Cameron Missouri; three uncles and three aunts and a host of cousins and friends. &nbsp;

Cameron, Missouri…. John D Eggleston Jr., age 79, was born July 6, 1943, in Fairport, MO, the son of John D Eggleston Sr. and Lois Bernice (Daniel) Eggleston, and passed away on June 8, 2023, with family by his side.

John and Twila (Wilson) Eggleston were united in marriage on October 29, 1965, in DeKalb, MO, and to this union two children were born. John served in the Army National Guard and was a lifelong DeKalb County farmer. In his younger days, he played fastpitch softball for the Fairport Cubs and DeKalb County Kings, and was an avid golfer at the Lakesite Golf Club in Maysville. He was an accomplished hunter and outdoorsman with a few of his hunts even being featured on the Outdoor Channel.&nbsp;&nbsp;He also belonged to the Fairport Lions Club and Missouri Fox Hunters Association. Every spring, you could find John walking the timber looking for morel mushrooms. In November 2016, John was honored to be named Cameron’s Volunteer of the Year for his countless hours visiting the sick and elderly in Cameron’s hospital and nursing home.&nbsp; John will be remembered for his quick wit and friendly nature.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was loved and will be missed by many family and friends.

John was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Twila; and sister, Jane Jones. 

He is survived by his longtime life partner, Linda Reynolds; his children, J. (Cathie) Eggleston, Nancy (Mark) Wheatley; sister, Judy Jennings; grandchildren, Nick (Alex) Eggleston, Stefanie (Daniel) Epler, Addison Wheatley, Andrew Wheatley; great-grandchildren, Keira, Ellie, and Theo; many numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The Eggleston family would also like to thank the many caregivers that helped to care for John and Linda over these last several years allowing them to stay in their home where they wanted to be.

Carolyn S. (Chaney) Peuker, 86, of Wathena, Kansas passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at the Willow in Wathena.

Carolyn was born on September 8, 1936, in St. Joseph, Missouri to Richard and Bertha (Klein) Chaney.

She lived all her married life south of Wathena farming with her husband.

Carolyn is a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Wathena and the Cordonettes.

She married Elmer Peuker on March 7, 1959, in St. Joseph, Missouri. He survives of the home. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Richard Chaney, Jr.

Additional survivors include her sons, Jeff Peuker 0f Austin, Texas and Daryl Peuker (Jana) of Troy, Kansas.

Steven Ray Lock, a lifelong mechanic and farmer, passed away unexpectedly on June 6, 2023 at the University of Kansas Health System Hospital in Topeka. Steve was born on October 15, 1952 to Harold and Eunice Lock of Hiawatha. He and his brother, Stan, helped with the family farm while attending Hamlin Public Schools. Steve was an active member of the Hamlin Pied Pipers 4-H Club and was proud of his first-place award at the Kansas State Fair in the trailer-backing competition. Steve graduated from Hiawatha High School in 1970.

Upon graduation, he attended NCKA Vo-Tech in Beloit where he learned diesel mechanics. Steve later received a draft letter and chose to join the Army National Guard where he received honors in field radio mechanics. Upon returning home, he worked for the Case dealership before he opened his own independent tractor repair in 1976. He moved his business, Steve’s Tractor Repair, to town in 1983, retiring in 2019.

Steve met the love of his life, Linda Holeman, on a blind date. They married in 1982 and added three sons to their family: Matthew in 1983, Jared in 1984, and Greg in 1997.

Steve served on the Hiawatha School Board for 16 years and was able to present all three of his sons with their diplomas. He remained a huge supporter of the Brown County 4-H program all throughout his life and enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids in later years. He will be remembered as a man who made a difference in the production agriculture and ag mechanics industry within and around the community. Steve loved a challenging mechanical situation and could adapt and overcome any obstacle.

Steve never knew a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone—sometimes driving his family crazy. With his good sense of humor, he enjoyed teasing others. Steve had a need for speed and loved air shows, drag racing, and tractor pulling. He loved to drive and enjoy the countryside and was the chauffeur to many KSU bowl games.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents and brother &nbsp;Stanley. &nbsp;He is survived by his wife Linda and sons Matthew, Jared (Kristin), Greg (fiancé Kelly), and granddaughter Lainey and grandson Rhett.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at &nbsp; 10 AM Monday, June 12, 2023 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Hiawatha with Father Dan Gardner as celebrant.

Friends may call at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home after 12 noon Sunday where a parish rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM Sunday June 11 at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, Hiawatha, followed by visitation at 7:00 PM. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery.

She was born on October 24, 1946 in Smithville, MO. Nancy graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1964. &nbsp;

She went on to work for Forum Café in North Kansas City, Strahm Automation and worked for USD 500 in Kansas City, KS as a school bus driver for 25 years. Most recently she was working as a Security Guard for Securitas Security. Nancy volunteered much of her time to Special Olympics and was also a paraprofessional that assisted many special needs children over the years. She loved to crochet, making several blankets &amp; scarves, traveling when she could and most of all fishing. &nbsp;

Nancy was united in marriage to Cecelia Carter on October 1st 2016 and they made their home together in Lee’s Summit, MO. Nancy and Cece enjoyed playing Canasta with Tim and Alice Redding on many occasions. Cece preceded her in death on August 20, 2021.&nbsp;

She was also preceded in death by her biological parents, Charles Patterson and Mary Elizabeth Burton; adopted parents, Charles and Emma Jane Burdette; sister, Susan Mitchell &amp; brother Charles E. Patterson.&nbsp;

Nancy is survived by her son, James (Cora) Baxter; grandchildren, Amaris Smith, Brenia Smith and Aria Baxter; great-grandson, Liam Smith; brother, Larry (Charolett) Wills; and sister, Barbara Breig; along with other relatives and many friends.&nbsp;

Aaron Franklin Ford, 43, a lifelong St. Joseph resident passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023 at Mosaic Life Care, after a lengthy battle with alcoholism.

Aaron was born on March 19, 1980 in St. Joseph, Missouri. He was a 1998 graduate of Lafayette High School and graduated from the The Missouri Western State University Law Enforcement Academy.

Aaron worked in law enforcement his entire career and spent the last six years as a security officer for Allied Universal.

Aaron was a proud father and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed camping and fishing. He was also a baseball enthusiast and enjoyed attending the Mustangs games and following the Royals.

Aaron is survived by his daughter, Sydni Ford; mother and step-father, Carol and Michael Wylie; sister, Betsy Leidy (Robert); niece and nephew, Claire and Kaleb Leidy; aunt, Connie Ford-Hale (Darren); uncle, Kirby Ford (Martha) and his dog, Marsee. &nbsp;&nbsp;

David Alan Kline, 64, St. Joseph, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023.

He was born on February 19, 1959, to Wilber Lewis and Mary Dolores (Mann) Kline in St. Joseph, Missouri.

David earned his bachelor’s degree from Missouri Western State University and was active in the United States Army, where he worked as a supply officer. He was a member of the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, a proud Eagle Scout and scout master.

David was fascinated with genealogy and would spend up to six hours per day researching his family lineage. He and his wife, Cheryl, enjoyed taking day trips and researching the history of the places they visited together.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wilber Kline.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 44 years, Cheryl Kline; their children, Aaron Mitchell Kline, Kerrie Ann Kline, Hans-Dieter Kline, and Emma Moore Kline; five grandchildren; his mother, Mary; two brothers, one sister, and one sister-in-law.

Shawn loved movies, good food, good music, fishing, and going for long car rides. He was a funny, happy guy with lots of opinions who loved to debate.

Most of all, Shawn was all about his family, whom he loved dearly. He didn’t ask for much but was quick to give, always putting others before himself.

Naomi Faith (White) Johnson passed away June 6, 2023 at home in Edgerton, MO.

She was born on October 18, 1931, to James Dee and Blanche (Reynolds) White on the farm near Platte City, MO. Naomi graduated from Camden Point High School in 1949 as valedictorian of her class consisting of six girls. During school her favorite class was basketball. After high school, Naomi attended Platte Gard Business School in St. Joseph graduating with a secretarial administrative assistant certificate.

On June 22, 1951, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Atkins “Buddy” Johnson at the Baptist Church in Camden Point, MO. To this union were born Jerry Dee Johnson, William Allen Johnson and Joy Annette Johnson. They raised their family near Edgerton on the family farm. Kenneth passed away on July 26, 1996.

Naomi worked for North Platte Elementary School in Edgerton, Kroger Grocery Company in North Kansas City, American Angus Association in St. Joseph, American Angus Hall of Fame in Smithville, and Healthy Families of Mid America in Smithville. She spent her last five years at the Smithville Christian Church where she retired in November of 2011.&nbsp;

She was a member of Edgerton United Methodist Church where she served as the secretary, treasurer and choir director until the church closed. Later, Naomi joined the congregation of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Edgerton. She also served on the Missouri University Extension Council (4-H) and the board of WWB Villas Retirement Center in Edgerton and was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Naomi was an active parent with FFA, 4-H and PTA. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and “Mamaw” and will be missed dearly.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her husband Buddy Johnson; sisters Martha Wilson and Maxine Davis and brothers Herman White and James White.&nbsp;

Naomi is survived by her children Jerry Johnson, Bill Johnson (LeeAnn) and Joy Williams (Tom); granddaughters Kelly Weber (Robert) and Amy Williams; great-grandson Blake Weber; sister Deanna Boydston; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.&nbsp;

Carol was a military wife who stayed by her husband's side during his many Navy transfers all over the United States, but upon his retirement decided to move back home to Missouri to remain close to her family in her final years. Terrance preceded her in death October 23, 2012.

Carol was also preceded in death by her parents, her son Chris Taylor, brother&nbsp;Gary Higgins and sister Sharon Smith.

Survivors include daughter Regina Fulton, grandchildren Sean and Heather Fulton, and Zachary Long Taylor and Elizebeth Long Taylor.

We are sad to announce the passing of Laton Wharton of St. Joseph, MO. He passed away at the age of 89 years on June 5, 2023.

He was born on April 11, 1934, in Enyart, MO, the son of Basha (Pierce) and Ted Wharton. He was the fifth of seven children born to this union.

He was married to Margie Thomas on September 27, 1952, and to this union three children were born: Rickey, Richard “Dickie” and Rita. He went on to marry Helen “Louise” Purvis on October 7, 1974, and to this union, one child was born, Basha.

Laton spent his childhood in and around Stanberry, MO. Graduating from Stanberry High School in 1952, he enjoyed success on the football field all four years of high school. He worked many jobs throughout his life and retired as a Teamster Union member in 1997. Throughout the summers his family would enjoy the delicious vegetables he would raise in his backyard garden. Tending to those gardens was a tradition passed down by his mother, Basha.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise; his parents; a baby sister at birth; sister, Ruby Bentley; and brothers, Truman, Rex, and Boyd Wharton.

Patricia "Pat" Ann Dowell, 71, of St Joseph, MO, passed away Monday, June 5, 2023 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph. She was born April 19, 1952 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of Emma (Harmon) and Roy Patterson. 

She attended Lafayette High School and married Roger Dowell on April 28 1973 in St. Joseph. Pat enjoyed gardening, playing games on her tablet and working around the home. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Emily Ann Harris, brother, James Patterson, and sisters, Mary Johnson and Eve Earhart. 

Survivors include husband of 50 years, Roger Dean Dowell of the home, son, Richard Dowell of St. Joseph, grandsons, Colton and Nate Dowell and their mother, Annie Dowell, granddaughters, Kayla Dowell and Century Harris (Jordan Moore) all of St. Joseph, brothers, Don (Carrie) Patterson of Oregon, MO, Olin Patterson of St. Joseph, and &nbsp;sister, Vickie Shoemaker of Wyoming.

Alyce Ann (Boo) Chleborad passed away Monday, June 5, 2023 at home.

She was the daughter of Melvin and Alice Hougas. Ann was born March 24, 1946 in Brooklyn, New York, moved to St. Joseph when young.

Laurie Pierpoint Slaughter, a loving and courageous woman, passed away on June 5, 2023, in St. Joseph, Missouri. Born on April 27, 1963, in Coronado, California, Laurie's life was filled with love, laughter, and dedication to her family and friends.

After completing her bachelor's degree, Laurie embarked on a successful career as a top-rated sales representative for Georgia Pacific. Over her 17-year tenure, she earned several awards for her sales expertise and was widely respected in her field. Laurie also worked as an independent sales representative for LipSense, showcasing her entrepreneurial spirit and passion for helping others look and feel their best.

Laurie loved being involved in her children’s extracurricular activities, whether it was attending sports games or school programs, she was always there to cheer them on and celebrate their achievements.

Laurie had a keen interest in finding unique treasures through dumpster diving. Laurie also had a green thumb and took great pleasure in tending to her plants.

Laurie's compassionate nature led to her past involvement in rescuing and rehabilitating ducks in need of a loving home. Her gentle touch and caring heart made a difference in the lives of these animals.

Recently baptized in Dallas, Texas, Laurie's faith was an important aspect of her life. Her spiritual journey brought her peace and comfort.

Laurie is survived by her children, Jaden Slaughter and Jake Slaughter; brothers, Kirk Pierpoint (Ellen), Brandon Pierpoint (Ashley), and Kevin Pierpoint (Aaren); mother, Linda Weddle (Don), father, Steve Pierpoint (Jan); aunt, Martha Elliott; and beloved dog, Pepper Pierpoint Slaughter. She was preceded in death by her uncle, Rod Elliott, and her grandparents.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date with family and friends in Texas.

Laurie Pierpoint Slaughter 1963 - 2023

Mathew Dillon Persinger (“Pah-Nah”), 35, of Topeka passed away on June 2nd, 2023. He was a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomie Indian Tribe. &nbsp;

Matt was born on June 27th, 1987, in Topeka, Kansas to Marshall Persinger and Sarah Persinger. They both survive. He is also survived by his half-sister, Cassandra Persinger, his wife, Morgan Lothert and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by all 3 sets of grandparents.

Mathew attended Shawnee Heights schools. There he met many of his lifelong friends. He participated in Boy Scouts all through grade school as well as karate where he earned his purple belt in the discipline of Okinawan Shorin-ryu. When Matt was 14, he purchased professional lighting equipment and for several years he ran lights for many local metal bands. In his junior year, he took his GED and passed with one of the highest scores in the state of Kansas. Matt went on to work in the field of I.T. as a Computer Technician and Network Engineer and was a Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist and a Microsoft Professional Ubiquiti Specialist. His employers included Baby Dolls, EZ PC, Security Transport Services and Network Technologies. On October 29th, 2021, he married his longtime girlfriend, Morgan Lothert. &nbsp;

Mathew was intelligent, charming and known for his big smile. He had a curious nature and from a very young age his favorite activity was taking apart electronics to see how they worked. Then he moved on to fixing them. His first successful fix was a broken toaster his grandma bought him at a garage sale at age 4. When he got a little older, Matt spent countless hours reading, researching, and learning about anything and everything. He loved knowledge and debates but hated conflict. Matt lived life to the fullest and just wanted everyone to be happy.

Matt had so many great friends whom he loved, appreciated and respected greatly. He took pride in surrounding himself with people whom he admired and looked to as role models. He will be dearly missed by his wife, family, and friends. If he could say one last thing, I know it would be to thank everyone in his life for being a part of his life.&nbsp; You have no idea how much that meant to him.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 7th from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hoyt. A supper and wake will be Thursday at the Native American Church on 174th road. Burial will be Friday morning in the MaryAnn Matchie Cemetery west of Mayetta.

Kevin Edward Lewis, 45, passed away Sunday, June 4th, 2023 at&nbsp;his Rock Port, Missouri home; he is at peace now and no longer is fighting his demons.&nbsp;

He&nbsp;was born in Fairfax, Missouri on February 1st, 1978 to Steven and Connie&nbsp;Lewis.

Kevin loved nothing more than being surrounded by nature at&nbsp;every opportunity. He had a passion for fishing, hunting and&nbsp; camping.&nbsp;Kevin had a big heart and loved being able to help other people&nbsp;whenever he could; his genuine kindness and big heart will be&nbsp;remembered fondly by all who knew him.

He worked at Eaton’s for 13&nbsp;years and was a regular farm hand, and also did odd jobs all over&nbsp;Northwest Missouri.

Kevin was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Andrew&nbsp;and Dorothy Lewis; his maternal grandparents, Wayne “Dub” and Dorothy&nbsp;Harrington; and his first cousin, Heather Lewis.&nbsp;

Kevin is survived by his parents, Steven and Connie Lewis of Fairfax,&nbsp;Missouri; sister and brother-in-law, Darci &amp; Brian Morey of Tarkio, Missouri;&nbsp;nephews, Seth and Luke Morey of Tarkio, Donovan Jones of&nbsp;Craig, Missouri and Tyler (Taya) Jones; great niece, Micah Rose&nbsp;Jones; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and&nbsp;friends.

Joseph E. “Big Joe” Huber, 82, of Easton, MO passed away June 5, 2023.

He was born on March 7, 1941, to John E. and Velma Lee (Shipley) Huber in Saxton, MO. Big Joe grew up in rural Easton, MO where he attended school.

On November 26, 1966, he was united in marriage to Charlene A. Morgan. After their marriage they lived on the family farm where they made their home. Big Joe retired from Wire Rope in St. Joseph in 2006. After his retirement he became a Master Craftsman Golfsmith and enjoyed building and repairing golf clubs. He was a jack of all trades, doing everything from electrical to woodworking. Big Joe loved being outside working in his yard and garden and golfing. Most of all he loved his family.

He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Bishop LeBlond 5067 Chapter Knights of Columbus where he was a 4th Degree Knight and volunteered for several of their events and helped out wherever he was needed. He was also a member of the Fairview Golf course where he served as a marshal.&nbsp;

Big Joe was preceded in death by his parents; brother Ernest Huber; sister Anna Smith and brother-in-law Bob Smith. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Charlene Huber; children Christie Ottinger and husband Doug, and Joe Huber and wife Angie; grandchildren Johnathan, Duncan, Joseph, and Destiny; brother John Huber and wife Linnie; sister Shirley Keyes and husband Rodney; sisters-in-law Linda Huber, Audrey Payne and husband Larry, and Beckie Miller and husband Ed; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Lora "Frances" Mooney, 78, of Amazonia, MO passed away Sunday, June 4, 2023 surrounded by her loving family at her home in Amazonia, MO. She was born December 17, 1944 in Fayette, AL, daughter of Margie and Austin Pendley. 

Frances retired from the State Hospital in 1988, where she worked as a Certified Nurses Aide. She served many years volunteering for the Harvest House. She loved gardening and country music. She enjoyed going to auctions and garage sales. She was the rock of her family, especially through all the family hardships, she held everyone together. 

Frances was preceded in death by father, Austin Pendley, mother, Margie Schnedler, daughter, Patricia "PJ" Stanton, sons, Willie and Billy Mooney, Sr., grandson, Billy Ray Mooney, Jr., brothers, James and Willie Pendley, and great-grandsons, Michael and Tristen Kerns. 

Survivors include daughter, Lora Lee (Zead) Alladin of Grover Beach, CA, daughter-in-law, Beth Mooney, Amazonia, her dear friend, Jill Graf of Amazonia, sisters, Margaret (Thomas) Tabor of El Dorado Springs, MO, Polly (Thomas) Harman of Midland, TX, Brenda English of Lamar, MO and Ada May (Tommy) Richards of Lamar, MO, 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Elva "Vickie" (Ellis) Adams, 88, of St. Joseph passed away, June 6, 2023. &nbsp;Vickie was born November 6, 1934 in Faucett, MO, to Charles and Venora (Stafford) Ellis.

She met the love of her life, John, in 1951. &nbsp;He called her his pretty little red headed girl. They were married January 16, 1952 at the Nazarene Church in St. Joseph.

Vickie was an LPN and Director of Memorial Home and Meadow View Assisted Living in St. Joseph.

Survivors include her husband John; daughter Lynn Masterson; son Wayne Adams (Wendy); grandson John D. Welter (Amber); granddaughters, Heather Reed (Shannon), Shauna Collins (Joe); six great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Charles Ellis, Jr., John, Ellis, Earl Ellis; sisters Ruth Taylor, Jeanette Graves, Eva Ellis; and grandson Aaron Joel.

She enjoyed spending her time with family, especially her grandchildren. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a nurse, seamstress, cake decorator, great cook, and will be most remembered as the favorite playmate to her grandchildren.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Aseracare hospice family and the Diversecare Nursing Home who showed love and cared for her in her last days.
