Christian Michele Klein, 49 of St. Joseph, passed away June 5, 2023. She was born February 11, 1974 in San Antonio, Texas to Curtis and Carolyn (Weisenhorn) Klein.

She was a graduate of Vatterott College and Missouri Western State University. She enjoyed classic rock, loved camping, fishing, pretty much anything outdoors. Her real passion was cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include a son Chase Klein; two daughters, Lauren Thompson (Richard), Samantha Bloss; grandchildren, Dyvinity, &nbsp;Nahla, Otto, and Xandria; her mother and step-father Carol and Robert Potter; other relatives and friends.

He was born September 6, 1977, to Kwok Siu Por and Lui Siu Ying in Hong Kong, China.

Yipkei earned his doctorate’s degree and worked as an assistant professor of computer science at Missouri Western State University. He was a member of the Strong Tower Baptist Church.

Yipkei enjoyed spending time with his friends playing cornhole, studying computer technology, and going to the gun range. He was very active and enjoyed working out, especially swimming. Yipkei was a friendly man, who would lend a hand to anyone in need.

David Gary St. Clair, 71, passed away on June 4, 2023, in Chillicothe, Missouri. Born on December 13, 1951, in Cameron, Missouri to Elwood and Mary (George) St. Clair, David was a kind and generous man who touched the lives of many with his handy skills and warm heart.

A graduate of Cameron High School, David moved to Chillicothe at the age of 19, and went on to work as the head of maintenance for the Chillicothe School District. He also owned and operated David St. Clair Remodeling &amp; Maintenance for over 30 years. David was a member of the Chillicothe Baptist Church.

David's love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for gardening and landscaping. He took great pride in his work and enjoyed spending time outside, nurturing his plants and creating beautiful spaces for his family and friends to enjoy. David's love for animals was also apparent, especially in his fondness for his pet cats. Sophie, his favorite cat, held a special place in his heart and brought him much joy and companionship.

Family was of the utmost importance to David, and he cherished the time spent with his loved ones. He enjoyed visiting family members and attending family reunions. David's hardworking nature and dedication to his family were evident in the many family vacations he planned, taking his loved ones on trips all over the United States and visiting several National Parks.

David was the beloved husband of Lavene St. Clair, with whom he shared 27 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they raised a beautiful family, including their children Ellen Sue Metz (Ray), Christy St. Clair, and David St. Clair, Jr.

Other survivors include his mother, Violet St. Clair; siblings, Joann Cope, Linda Bell, Jean Gardner (David), Rosemary Joudon, Caralyn Burris, James Farr (Jackie), and Robert Farr; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Patty A. Chaffin passed away on June 3, 2023, at the age of 65. Patty was born on November 8, 1957, in Leavenworth, Kansas, to the late Lyman and Loretta (Ennis) Brushwood. She is survived by an extensive and close-knit family, as well as numerous friends who will cherish her memory.

Throughout her life, Patty was known for her kind-hearted nature and unwavering devotion to her family. She leaves behind a legacy that includes her beloved children, Cassie Chaffin, Jimmy Watts (Kim), Michael Zeleznik (Laurie), Heather Watts, Matt Wenger (Emily), Daryl Watts (Dorena), Keli Ross, Emily Bunch, Billie Lu Mozee (Pay), and Billie Jo Mollett. Her grandchildren, Daniel, Kylan, Diamond, Shado, Dezmon, Kaleb, Trevor, Kelsee, Hannah, Willie, Marilee, Matty, Lexy, Meeka, Quincey, Troy, Tasha, Geneva, Nick, Hayden, Jack, Madison, and Braxton, as well as her great-grandchildren, Ti'Avian, Ja'Kobi, Sa'faiya, Jymon Jr., Cali, and Raylan, will carry on her legacy of love and compassion.

Patty is also survived by her siblings, Pam and Lee Brushwood, who will miss their sister's warmth and laughter. Glenda Sechler, her devoted BFF whom she loved spending time with. She was predeceased by her parents, her soulmate, Billy Watts, and her sister, Penny Brushwood. In addition to her family, Patty touched the lives of countless friends and extended family members.

She would frequently post thoughtful prayers that her friends and community members looked forward to reading each morning. Her spiritual presence and devotion served as an inspiration and source of comfort to many throughout her life.

Patty's love for cooking brought joy to those around her, as she regularly shared her delicious culinary creations with friends and family members. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and would often cook for them, ensuring that everyone felt welcomed and loved. Her generosity extended beyond her family circle, as she would also prepare meals for her neighbors at St. Francis Apartments. Patty's culinary skills were only surpassed by her thoughtful and caring nature, making her home a warm and welcoming place for all who entered.

Richard H. Reynozo, a loving husband, father, and grandfather passed away on June 2, 2023. He was born on September 19, 1932, in Durbin, North Dakota, to Jose Cayetano Reynoso De Anda and Maria Anastasia (Hurtado) Reynoso. Richard was a devoted family man and devout Catholic who believed in the power of prayer. He was 90 years old.

Richard's education included studying criminology in Florida, where he earned his bachelor's degree. He also completed auto-mechanic school while actively serving in the military. His work history and association involvement were extensive, as he served as an electronics and radar technician in the United States Air Force and spent six years in the United States Navy. Richard was a proud Korean War veteran.

In his community, Richard volunteered with Twin Spires Church to assist the mentally handicapped. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), and American Legion. His dedication to service and helping others was a testament to his faith and love for his fellow man.

Richard was an athletic man who played football, baseball, and loved bowling. While active in the military, he worked every weekend to support his family, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to their well-being. He was a loyal, trustworthy, and honest man, qualities that endeared him to all who knew him.

Richard will be remembered for making pizza and homemade ice cream for his neighbors, showcasing his sense of community. He was known for his loving, faith-filled, and friendly nature.

Richard is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dolores J. Reynozo; children, Ritchie C. Reynozo (Colleen), Robin C. Reynozo (Milagro), and Relinda A. Reynozo; grandchildren, Amber Roberts, Kayla Roberts, Caton Reynozo, Alexander Reynozo, and Joshua Reynozo; as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was an active member of the East Hills Church of Christ and loved attending church events. Barbara also enjoyed crocheting and knitting in the comfort of her home.

Ashley Lynn Hill, 43, of Highland, Kansas, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2023 surrounded by family at KU Medical Center after a sudden illness.&nbsp;

Ashley was born February 3, 1980 in St. Joseph, the daughter of Leslie (Danbury) Kinkead and Sam Hill. Ashley spent her early years in St. Joseph attending Hall and Pershing Elementary and Robidoux Middle schools before moving to Highland in 1994. She graduated from Highland High School in 1998. &nbsp;

After suffering a spinal cord injury in a car accident her sophomore year, Ashley learned to walk again with assistance and achieved her goal of walking down the aisle with classmates at graduation to accept her diploma. Over the years, Ashley was an inspiration to everyone she met as she overcame numerous health challenges in the 28 years since her injury. During a year-long stay at the Highland Care Center in 2003 she was a ray of light to all the residents becoming close to many of her high school friends’ grandparents. Ashley was named a Paul Harris Fellow through the St. Joseph Rotary East in the mid-2010s. Ashley loved the Kansas City Chiefs, music, animals, astronomy, and had an affinity for those in need. Her favorite volunteer work was socializing foster cats and kittens. She is reunited with her best friend, Carrie, her beloved cat who was always by her side. Ashley was the best ‘Aunt Tildy’ to her nephews Lincoln, Knox and Barrett Yurth--the light in her life.&nbsp;

Her family would like to thank all of her therapists, nurses, doctors and caregivers, especially her mother, who never left her side.&nbsp;

Ethel Mae Woolsey, 97, of Hiawatha, with family by her side, went to be with Jesus, Saturday June 3, 2023.

Ethel Mae was born in St. Joseph, Missouri, March 24, 1926, one of two daughters born to Harley and Goldie Flay Caddell Willian and had lived in Hiawatha all of her life. She attended schools here and later graduated from Hiawatha High School with the class of 1945. Ethel Mae had worked as an aide for a few years at Oak Ridge Acres Nursing Home.

Mrs. Woolsey was a longtime member of Bethany United Church of Christ in Hiawatha where she had been very active through the years, teaching Sunday school, Women’s Group, and was the ladies quilting group. She was active in the auxiliary to the VFW and American Legion, both of Hiawatha where she had served as president of both organizations at one time. She enjoyed sewing, embroidery, and maintaining her own home and lawn up until a few years ago.

She was married to Royal W. “Roy” Woolsey, December 2, 1946, at the Baptist Church in Hiawatha. They had lived 6 miles west of town for a number of years, before moving to town. Ethel Mae was the bookkeeper for his backhoe and trenching business. He died July of 1995. &nbsp;

Ethel Mae was also preceded in death by her parents, and a sister Martha Carnes in December 2006.

Survivors include a daughter Nancy Campbell (Don) of St. Joseph, grandchildren’s families: Rebecca Lower and family, Natalie McBreen and family, Nathan Shorb and family.

A Celebration of Ethel Mae’s life is planned for 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at Bethany United Church of Christ with Shane Spangler officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha.

Friends may call at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home until 6 p.m. Monday. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to services Tuesday at Church.

He was born on&nbsp;July 20, 1942, to Fredrick&nbsp;and Alice (Maddox) Aitken&nbsp;in Plattsburg, MO where he grew up and graduated from high school. &nbsp;Freddie served his country in the U.S. Army, alongside his cousin Joe&nbsp;Mitchell. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Plattsburg,&nbsp;where he&nbsp;built&nbsp;his home&nbsp;and lived for the remainder of his life. &nbsp;&nbsp;

Freddie retired from CertainTeed after&nbsp;40&nbsp;years&nbsp;of faithful service. &nbsp;He also owned and operated Good Times Bar&nbsp;&amp; Grill&nbsp;in Trimble, MO&nbsp;for several years. &nbsp;Freddie enjoyed hunting,&nbsp;watching and cheering for the Kansas City&nbsp;Chiefs,&nbsp;and&nbsp;loved being outside&nbsp;tinkering. &nbsp;Most of all he enjoyed being with family and friends,&nbsp;throwing birthday bashes,&nbsp;and hosting bonfires. &nbsp;&nbsp;

He&nbsp;was preceded in death by&nbsp;his wife Faith Aitkens; his&nbsp;brother Jerry, sisters Betty,&nbsp;Catherine,&nbsp;Josephine, Donna Sue, Shirley, and&nbsp;Berthie.&nbsp;

Freddie Braden Aitkens 1942 - 2023

Eugene (Gene) William Weishaar, Wathena, Kansas, age 78 passed away peacefully surrounded by his family June 3, 2023. Gene was born November 10, 1944, the third oldest child of Arthur and Loretta (Noll) Weishaar.

Gene graduated from ACCHS in 1963, joined the Air Force in 1965 and was honorably discharged in 1969 at the Rank of E-5. He served in Goose Bay Labrador, Canada and Minot, North Dakota as a jet engine/airplane mechanic where he formed lifelong friendships with his fellow servicemen. He then worked at Rockwell International (Bradken) as a machinist/quality control manager until his retirement. In 2004 he went to work for I&amp;M Machine and Fabrication, retiring in 2014.

Gene’s hobbies included woodworking, golfing, a good game of pitch, and hunting and fishing with his kids and grandkids. There was nothing he couldn’t fix, build or repurpose with his many talents. His children will remember his strong hands, kind heart and perseverance. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors and family gatherings, especially Sundays spent with family at Grandma and Grandpa Weishaar’s.

Gene was a faithful member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Wathena for over 44 years. There was not a part of the church Gene did not touch. He served as Eucharistic Minister for over 30 years and obtained status of Grand Knight and Chancellor of the Knights of Columbus Council 9532. Gene will be fondly remembered as Grandpa Gene by the many youths he taught in religious education.

He was an active member of Wathena American Legion Post 161, serving as Chaplain, Color Guard and Bugler.

Gene married DeAnn Marie Huff on August 22, 1970. DeAnn preceded him in death on June 6, 1982. Gene then met and married Jennifer A. Mercer on July 27, 1990. She preceded him in death on July 13, 2012. He was also preceded in death by his parents, infant sister Alberta Weishaar, brothers –in-law Jon Larson and Mike Lee.

Survivors include six children: David Weishaar, Troy, Ks; Annette Weishaar, Las Vegas, NV; Paula (Scott) Morris, Holton, Ks; Peggy (Tim) Franken, Troy, Ks; Duane (Jamie) Weishaar, Troy, Ks and Jana Campbell, St. Joseph, MO., 13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren. Also, Sisters Betty Larson, Roberta Spradling, Theresa (Bob) Freeman, Alvera Lee and Pauline (Tom) Lee, brother Don (Pat) Weishaar and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Louise Pickman, 91, Fishers, Indiana, died Wednesday, March 8, 2023.

Louise was born August 25, 1931, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Harvey and Matle (Logan) Tompson. She attended school in Kansas City graduating from West Port High School.

On November 27, 1952, she and Carl Pickman were united in marriage at St. Patrick’s Church with Rev. Cyprian Nordhus, OSB presiding. Mr. Pickman preceded her in death on October 13, 2008.

Louise began her work history with Southwestern Bell. She also worked at the Tea Room on the campus of Mount St. Scholastica. Louise was employed with Domann Drug for a time, she also owned her owned fabric store in downtown Atchison. Her last major employment was at the Super 8 in Atchison.

Louise and her husband, Carl, were members of St. Joseph Church for over 50 years and she was very active in the altar society.

Survivors include two sons, Jim (Lyn) Pickman, Luxembourg, WI; David Pickman, Atchison, KS; three daughters, Peggy (Robert) Shine, Fishers, IN; Sarah Kinast, Haven, KS; Susan (Russ) Karch, Manchester, TN; an adopted Mount St. Scholastica daughter, Pat Peterson; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Thomas Wood; a granddaughter, Angela Kathleen Shine Gibbs; a great grandson, Madden Alexander Pickman; two sons-in-law, Richard Carlson, Dean Kinast; a brother Orville Tompson; and two sisters, Hazel Hutchens and Betty Medley.

On September 24, 2009, he and Deborah Swendson were united in marriage. Mrs. Frans preceded him in death on December 26, 2022.&nbsp;

James was employed as an assistant manager at Big Lots.&nbsp;

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. James was a big fan of Elvis.&nbsp;

Survivors include a daughter, Angela Figueiredo, Gulf Breeze, FL, his brother, Gerald Frans, St. Joseph, MO, a sister, Cathy Frans-Valladares, Greenville, SC, and two granddaughters.

Leah was born April 5, 1936 in Oakland, Nebraska the daughter of Warren E. and Catherine Schoenfeldt Carlson. She attended and graduated from Mount St. Scholastica Academy in Atchison.

Leah worked at J. G. Decorating and then as an executive secretary for many years at L. F. M. Corporation then Rockwell International Corporation and then Bradken Corporation for more than fifty years in Atchison, Kansas.

She and Carl Leon Cox were united in marriage in Atchison, Kansas. &nbsp;Mr. Cox preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughter, Kim Ruhnke of Atchison, KS. And one grandchild, Zachary Ruhnke, Atchison, KS. And two great grandchildren, Brayden Ruhnke and Emma Ruhnke, both of Atchison, KS.

Matilda “Irene” Wood, 96, of Atchison, KS died on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at the Atchison Medicalodge. Graveside services and burial will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, June 7th, 2023, at the Doniphan Cemetery, Doniphan, KS. No visitation will be held. She graduated from Atchison High School in 1945. She worked as a telephone operator for the former Pacific SW Bell Telephone Company (1952-1953), and then the Pacific NW Bell Telephone Company (1953-1986), retiring on July 31, 1986. She was a member of the Haller Lake Baptist Church, Seattle, WA. She moved to Atchison in 2022 from Kuna, Idaho. Irene volunteered at the Senior Center after retirement and enjoyed traveling and took two ocean cruises. Survivors include several nieces, nephews to great, great, great nieces and nephews. Her parents, four brothers, George, Henry, Woodrow, and Everett Wood, and five sisters, Frances Wood, Mildred L. Wood, Ruth A. Jacobson, Grace L. Cash, and Anna M. Fitkin preceded her in death.

Matilda “Irene” Wood, 96, of Atchison, KS died on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at the Atchison Medicalodge. Graveside services and burial will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, June 7th, 2023, at the Doniphan Cemetery, Doniphan, KS. No visitation will be held. She graduated from Atchison High School in 1945. She worked as a telephone operator for the former Pacific SW Bell Telephone Company (1952-1953), and then the Pacific NW Bell Telephone Company (1953-1986), retiring on July 31, 1986. She was a member of the Haller Lake Baptist Church, Seattle, WA. She moved to Atchison in 2022 from Kuna, Idaho. Irene volunteered at the Senior Center after retirement and enjoyed traveling and took two ocean cruises. Survivors include several nieces, nephews to great, great, great nieces and nephews. Her parents, four brothers, George, Henry, Woodrow, and Everett Wood, and five sisters, Frances Wood, Mildred L. Wood, Ruth A. Jacobson, Grace L. Cash, and Anna M. Fitkin preceded her in death.<figure>

Jerry L. Botts, 86, of Atchison, KS, passed away on Thursday, June 1ST, 2023, at his home. A graveside service and burial will be at 11:15 am on Thursday, June 8th, 2023, at Mt. Vernon Cemetery with Rev. Brad Greene officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Thursday at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. He graduated from Cameron High School in 1955 and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from the University of Missouri in 1961. He was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps upon graduation from college, and served on active duty from 1961 through 1963. His active duty included a tour with the 3rd Tank Battalion as a Platoon Commander in Okinawa, Japan. Jerry served as an active reservist for eight years after release from active duty. He was employed by Oppenheimer Industries, Inc. in Kansas City, MO, and later by Commerce Bank of Kansas City. In 1977 he and his family moved to Atchison, KS, where he was a Vice President of The Exchange National Bank for 24 years. Jerry enjoyed golfing, gardening, investing and maintaining several hundred walnut trees that he planted shortly after his retirement. He loved hosting picnics with his lunch buddies at his tree farm, where they enjoyed his burgers and chili. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and a proud Marine! Jerry was named 2019 Forest Stewardship Landowner of the Year by the Kansas Forestry Association. He was a member of the American Legion and served as an advisory board member of The Salvation Army for many years. He was best known for his witty humor, his sense of adventure (including skydiving &amp; international travel), and eagerly looked forward to daily Happy Hour at home at 5:00pm sharp. Jerry was a man of incredible discipline, a trait that became ingrained during his time in the Corps, and one that he instilled in his children. He and Kathleen Barb, his wife of 56 years, were married in Bonner Springs, KS, on August 14th, 1966. She survives of the home. Additional survivors are daughter Melanie Viola (Ivano), East Windsor, NJ, son Bryan Botts (Midge), Shawnee, KS, and grandchildren Morgan Botts, Mallory Botts, Shen Viola and Sukanya Viola. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Charles R. Botts, and an infant sister.

Kittey Mae Kerns, 52, of St Joseph, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2023 at Mosaic Life Care. She was born October 21, 1970 in St. Joseph, daughter of Bonnie and Leo "Pete" Ballard. 

She attended Benton High School. She married Gary Kerns on January 13, 1993 in St. Joseph. Kittey enjoyed fishing, cooking, spending time with her grandchildren, and bird watching. 

She was preceded in death by her parents. 

Survivors include husband, Gary Kerns, Jr. of the home, sons, Brandon Ballard (Kali Wilson) of Savannah, MO, Gary Kerns, III of St. Joseph, daughter, Kitney Kerns of St. Joseph, sisters, Kim (William) Ellsworth of King City, MO, Kellee (Mark) Gromowski of St. Joseph, Leatha Ballard of St. Joseph, and brother, Art  Ballard of St. Joseph, grandchildren, Tucker, Cooper, Grayson and Delani, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Benjamin "Scott" Penland, 62, of St Joseph, MO, passed away Friday, June 2, 2023 at Mosaic Life Care. He was born May 9, 1961 in St. Joseph, MO, son of Barbara and Benjamin Penland. 

He attend Benton High School and Missouri Western State College. Scott worked many years as a self-employed contractor. He enjoyed music and loved to research. He was an extremely knowledgeable individual, there wasn't a topic he couldn't master. 

Benjamin was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Violet Jane Constable, and nephew, Adam Penland. 

Survivors include: brothers, Jeff (Kim) Penland, Randy Moore, and David Moore, all of St. Joseph, son, Greg Penland of Elwood, KS, grandchildren, Alexandria, Rhiannon, and Levi Penland, nieces and nephews, Pam, Ben, Jeb, Jessie, Kori, and Kyler, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

She graduated from Benton High School, class of 1976. She married Dennis Trickett on December 17, 1988 in St. Joseph . Mary was an avid collector of western memorabilia and enjoyed her movie collection, especially Yellowstone and going to swap meets. Most of all she loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of the former King Hill United Methodist Church. 

Mary was preceded in death by father, Calvin Richard Funk Sr., brothers, Ronnie Ray Ferguson, James Thomas Funk, grandson, Shawn, great-grandson, Kayden and nephew, Tommy Higdon. 

Survivors include husband, Dennis Trickett of  the home, her mother, Barbara Funk of St. Joseph, children, Bill (Cherry) Penland Jr., Barbara (Chris) Elrod, Priscilla Penland, John Penland, all of St. Joseph, sisters, Connie (Birt) Shirey and Roxanna (Bob) Kerns, both of St. Joseph, brother, C.R Funk of Deltona, FL, grandchildren, Ashley, Trinton, Jordan, Ariel, Dalton, Carson, Gavin, Jade, Gabe, great-grandchildren, Phynlee, Nevaeh, Kiya, Jameson and Palmer and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary Kathryn Trickett 1957 - 2023

Kay Ann (Hurt) Gill went home to be with her Lord Jesus on June 4, 2023.

Kay Ann was born on August 8, 1944 to Violet and Frank Hurt, Sr. They preceded her in death as well as three brothers; Fred, Lawrence, Wilbur and sister Bernice.

In 1962, Kay Ann married the love of her life, Mickey Gill, Sr. &nbsp;From this love two children were born, Marta Gill-Sansone and Mickey (Tina) Gill, Jr. Mickey Sr. preceded Kay Ann in death in 2009. Her life was never the same. Kay Ann and Mickey had five grandchildren; Carter and Kramer Sansone, Lexi (Gill) Punzone, Jacob Gill and Olivia (Gill) Webster. &nbsp;Additional survivors include her brother, Frank Hurt, Jr. and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kay Ann had been very active in her church, First Baptist Church and previously Savannah Avenue Baptist for many years. Her Lord Jesus was her strength and comforter. Kay Ann is now home with Mickey and her Lord Jesus. Her heart will be at peace at last.

Service 11:00 AM Wednesday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith and Sidenfaden Chapel, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment Mt. Auburn Cemetery.

Billy Joe Simmons, Sr., 92, went home to the Lord on June 3, 2023. &nbsp;Bill was born February 7, 1931 to Clinton and Gennieve (Tankersley) Simmons in Springfield, MO. He was the oldest of 8 children.

Bill was a Korean War Veteran serving in the USMC and USNR from 1949 - 1953. Bill later moved to North Kansas City where he met his soulmate JoAnn Garrison. They were married on November 21, 1956. They were blessed with 65 years of marriage and 8 children.

Bill was a devoted Christian and an active member of his church over the years. He worked as a retail manager for most of his life. They moved to a small farm outside Union Star in 1977 where they enjoyed raising dogs, livestock and growing a garden. Bill loved being outside in the fresh air. They retired from the farm and then moved to Savannah, MO. They attended the First Baptist Church in Savannah.

Bill was preceded in death &nbsp;by his wife JoAnn, son Charles (Chuck), brothers Paul, Clinton, Raymond and Mike Simmons.

He is survived by sons: Bill Jr. (Dorothy), Randy (Diane), Clinton (Kathi), Gary (Vicki), and Larry (Sheila) Simmons: daughters Lyn Lee-Beam, Teresa (Bill) Hillyard: daughter-in-law Sue Simmons: brother John Simmons: sisters Betty Perkins and Mary Glauser: 56 grand and great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Billy Joe Simmons, Sr. 1931 - 2023

Stanberry, MO: Gloria E. Carlson, 95, Stanberry, MO, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023, at a Stanberry, MO nursing home.

She was born on December 8, 1927, on the family farm in Vermillion, South Dakota the daughter of William Robert and Goldie E. (Butler) Jones.

On June 20, 1948, she married Mayo J. Carlson in Vermillion, South Dakota. He preceded her in death in 1974.

She graduated in Vermillion and owned a filling station along with Blue Top Restaurant in Conception, MO. Later in life she helped at the family farm. She enjoyed gardening and travelling.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Pam Carlson; sister, Valeria Jones; brothers, Tom and Bill Jones, and nephew, Doug McCrea.

Gloria is survived by her sister, Virginia (Dean) McCrea, King City, MO; friends, Dennis and Stacey Law, King City, MO and several nieces and nephews.

Carlson, 95, Stanberry, MO, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023, at a Stanberry, MO nursing home.She was born on December 8, 1927, on the family farm in Vermillion, South Dakota the daughter of William Robert and Goldie E. (Butler) Jones.On June 20, 1948, she married Mayo J. Carlson in Vermillion, South Dakota. He preceded her in death in 1974.She graduated in Vermillion and owned a filling station along with Blue Top Restaurant in Conception, MO. Later in life she helped at the family farm. She enjoyed gardening and travelling.In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Pam Carlson; sister, Valeria Jones; brothers, Tom and Bill Jones, and nephew, Doug McCrea.Gloria is survived by her sister, Virginia (Dean) McCrea, King City, MO; friends, Dennis and Stacey Law, King City, MO and several nieces and nephews.Graveside Services and Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 9 in High Ridge Cemetery, Stanberry, MO under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, Stanberry, MO. The family will receive friends from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Friday at Roberson Funeral Home, Stanberry, MO.<figure>

Sonia G. Harbison, 57, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023.

She was born July 10, 1965 in St. Joseph, MO, to Gaylen and Jean (Boles) Pearson.

Sonia married Albert William “Billy” Harbison, Jr. on December 17, 2016. He survives of the home.

She was a court recorder for the Social Security Disability Administration.

Sonia’s passion was helping women at the Pregnancy Resource Center. She was a past member of Rainbows and currently attended Central Assembly of God Church.

She also was a member of the Missouri Valley Amateur Radio Club, with her call sign NØYSZ.

Survivors include her husband, Billy; her daughter, Rachel Hecker (Chris); grandchildren, Quentin, Madi and Chloe; her parents; brother, Brian Pearson (Angie); nephew and niece, Andrew and Allison; other extended family members and friends.

Service 1:00 P.M. Thursday, Central Assembly of God. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation one hour prior to the service.

Richmond, KY: Peggy Jo Higdon Ochs, 73, passed away on May 9, 2023.

She was born on May 13, 1949 in Saint Joseph, Missouri, to Delmas Higdon Jr. and Winifred Burton Higdon, both of whom preceded her in death. Peggy was a caring, loving, and selfless mother, grandma, sister, and friend. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends at social events and dining out. She was an avid fan of her children and grandchildren. For years, Peggy enjoyed attending school activities and sporting events of her sons, Brian and Kevin. Later in life, she did much the same for her grandsons, Logan, Braden, and Tyler. She was always there to support her family. Peggy was part of a wonderful family. She was the oldest of eight siblings, six sisters, and one brother. All the times she spent with them were filled with many laughs, some tears, and lots of joy.

Peggy retired from Eastern Kentucky University after many years of working in the Bookstore Administration where she was a loyal and dedicated employee.

She is survived by two sons, Brian Ochs of Nashville, Tennessee and Kevin Ochs (Jennifer) of Richmond, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Logan Ochs, Braden Ochs, and Tyler Ochs; one brother, Gregg Higdon (Renee); six sisters, Susan Fry (Dave), Diane Henderson, Debby Scroggins (Dwight), Janet Hatten (Greg), Kim Marquis (Paul), and Kelly Leonard (Tom); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held at Oldham, Roberts &amp; Powell Funeral Home in Richmond, Kentucky, on Saturday, May 13, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Following the visitation, Peggy returned home to Missouri where a graveside service was be held. She was reunited with and buried alongside her parents.
