Cory Michael Amen, 46, passed way surrounded by his family on May 30, 2023 in St. Joseph, Missouri. He was born August 26, 1976 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Chuck and Gracie Amen

Cory is survived by his wife, Amanda Amen, and their son, Connor Amen of the home. He is also survived by his parents, Chuck and Gracie Amen, sister Loni (Jeff) Wood, niece and nephew Madilyn and Logan Wood, paternal grandfather Wayne Amen, and paternal aunt Mary Carol Adams, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Cory was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Mary Jo Amen, maternal grandparents Jack and Lonneta Compton, and a cousin, Justin Adams. Cory was also preceded in death by two very dear friends Rusty Larabee and Daina Dail.

Cory attended Central High School in St. Joseph, Missouri and graduated from Maryville High School in Maryville, Missouri. He pursued a higher education at Vatterott College and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, spending two years serving in Germany.

After his military service, Cory had a successful career as a photographer and phlebotomist. He was a kind and loving person who deeply loved his friends, family, and his cats. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Cory enjoyed taking trips with family, most notably taking more than one motorcycle trip with his father. He also took a camping trip to Canada with his grandparents.

Cory was active in the local music scene in St. Joseph, Missouri. For three years, he was a rhythm guitarist for the band Sinfrastructure and played shows with them all over St. Joseph and Kansas City.

Services for Cory will be held at Heaton Bowman Smith Sidenfaden Chapel in St Joseph, Missouri on Tuesday, June 6 at 10 AM with interment to follow the service in Bucklin, Missouri. Visitation for family and friends will occur on Monday, June 5 from 6 PM to 8 PM.

Richard L. Tiller, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on May 31, 2023. Born on August 28, 1937, to Earl Tiller and Lucille Kendzora.

Richard married Patricia J. Chirila on February 6, 1960. She preceded him in death on April 21, 1998.

He graduated from Christian Brothers High School in 1955.

Richard owned and operated Tilco Printing Inc. in St. Joseph, Missouri. His hard work and dedication allowed the business to thrive. He and his family proudly celebrated a momentous 47 years of success.

He enjoyed trapshooting at KCTA where he served on the Board of Directors for 12 years, fishing, golfing, boating, dancing, and playing a variety of musical instruments. He would often surprise his family with impromptu concerts; filling their hearts with love, laughter and lasting memories. Most importantly, Richard loved spending time at the farm, known as his "Paradise".

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Donald Tiller and Denny Tiller, and sister Darlene McCoy. Richard's memory will be cherished by his beloved significant other, Linda Berg, and their loving family: children Lisa Rice, Leanne Tiller, Leslie Turner (Ray), and Chad Berg (Katy); grandchildren Amanda Turner, Brandon Rice (Courtney), Tricia Turner, Jeron VanHoutan (R.W.), Chase Pollard, Jonathan Rice, Morgan Ortega (Anthony), Lauren Rice (Grant), Addison, Callie, Ashlyn, and Cassie Berg; great-grandchildren; Ryleigh, Tragan, Jerzie, Jayci, Kylen, Silus, Bodhi, Kazli, Sunni, Riot, Rome; sister Dolores Cole (Robert); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. William Harvey McClintock, 84, passed away March 28, 2023 in Houston, Texas after a brief illness.

Bill grew up in Marshalltown, Iowa, where he was a member of the 1956 Iowa State Championship High School Basketball Team.&nbsp;

He graduated from Grinnell College where he received&nbsp;his&nbsp;commission in the U.S. Air Force and met his wife, the former Ann Hedgpeth of Rock Port, Mo. Captain McClintock served in the USAF from 1960 to 1965 in Korea and Vietnam, then moved with his family to Houston, Texas, and began his business career as a stockbroker with Bache and Company.

Bill and Ann opened Ann's Clock shop in 1979. Later known as Ann's Fine Gifts, the business served the Houston community for 42 years.

Bill is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ann; daughter Sarah McClintock and grandson Darren Carter; son Scott McClintock and wife Shana McClintock; and grandchildren Samuel and Sharlotte McClintock.

He was an entrepreneur and a man of vision and optimism who welcomed every challenge. He loved visiting Ann's Rock Port family, the late Jimmie and Thelma Hedgpeth and Jane and Wes Christen. He considered Rock Port his hometown.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at Greenhill Cemetery, Rock Port, Mo.

Clarence Junior Worley was born February 16, 1935 to Clarence Edward and Hazel (Gilland) Worley.&nbsp;

On March 17, 1953 he and Margaret Ann Cook were united in marriage. From this marriage they had two sons, Paul Worley of Schuyler, Nebraska and Michael Worley of Fairbury, Nebraska, and a daughter, Ramona Lee, who passed at an early age.

Junior drove a dump truck for his dad as a teen and ended up owning his own truck. He also worked for the City of Craig as the water department manager and also as the town marshal.

In 2005 they moved to Fairbury and resided there until the time of his passing on May 31, 2023.

He and Margaret were married 70 years and ended up with six grandchildren, Tara, Ericka, Alicia, Kelly, David, and Mellisa, and 11 great grandchildren plus two great-great grandchildren.&nbsp;

Junior was an avid reader and loved his garden until his eyesight failed. He also liked to work in his basement shop building birdhouses and various other items.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret, of the home; sons Paul and Mike; daughter-in-law Brenda; many grand and great grandchildren; and brother, Ramon Worley of Muskogee, Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence, his mother, Hazel, daughter, Ramona Lee, and a sister, Beverly Chastain.

Funeral services: Monday, June 5, 2023, 2:00 pm, Chamberlain Funeral Home, Mound City, with visitation following the services. Interment: I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Craig, Missouri.

John Blaine (J. B.) Phillippe, 74, of Savannah, MO passed away May 30th, 2023 in Saint Joseph. He was born in Saint Joseph on February 11th to Donald and Goldie (Johnson) Phillippe.

He graduated from Savannah High School in 1967. &nbsp;He married Janet Sayles in 1970. J.B. worked on the family farm all of his life. His son and grandsons will now carry on the farm that meant so much to him. His family was his world and he was the rock of the family. He was a quiet, humble man that was loved by so many.

John Blaine (J.B.) Phillippe 1949 - 2023

Larry Eugene Barnard 62, of Saint Joseph, MO., passed away Thursday June 1, 2023 at Mosaic Life Care Hospital. He was born August 7, 1960 in St. Joseph, Missouri son of the late Lottie &amp; Lawrence Barnard. 

His dad started Barnard Auto Salvage where Larry worked for most of his life and later became the owner with his brother in 2014. He enjoyed fishing and was a member of the 4-F Flathead club, he also enjoyed mowing grass, car rides,  and spending time at home. 

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 infant siblings. 

He is survived by sons, Darrin (Jamie) Barnard and Aaron Barnard, grandchildren Jake and Lauren, brother Jerry Barnard, and sisters;  Judy (Keith) Harris, Janet Barnard, and Jeannie (Aaron) Peckman, and several nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends from 6 - 7:00 pm on Wednesday with a memorial service and public live stream following at 7:00 pm Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at the Rupp Funeral Home. He will be cremated under the care of the Rupp Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to the 4 F Flathead club. Private inurnment service at a later date.

John William Pugh passed away on Wednesday May 31, 2023 at the age of 66.

He was born on April 4, 1957 to William A. and Edna (Foote) Pugh in St. Joseph, MO. &nbsp;On August 19, 1978 he was united in marriage to Ellen T. Schultz in St. Joseph, MO.

John worked at USFP in Leavenworth, KS. &nbsp;He retired in 2007, as a QA manager in UNICOR.

He loved the St. Louis Cardinals and watching his grandsons compete athletically. &nbsp;

John is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Peggy Hart.

John is survived by his wife Ellen, son Joseph (Susan), sister Karen (George) Szczepanik and three grandsons, Ben, Brady and Bauer Pugh, all of St. Joseph, MO.

Shane R. Hebert, 52, Stewartsville, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2023.

He was born on September 16, 1970, to James and Nikki (Tyus) Hebert in Houston, Texas.

On July 2, 2022, he was united in marriage to Courtney Alberts.

Shane enjoyed being outdoors, especially golfing, fishing, and hunting. He was a member of the Pool League and volunteered with the PEB Baseball League. He loved to give everyone he saw a “High Nine”.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Nikki Hebert; brother, Michael Keith Hebert; nephews, Steven and Cody Hebert; and his beloved dog, Sluggo.

He was born April 3, 1942 in Beatrice, Nebraska, to Herman and Evelyn (Sixel) Kisling.

Gilbert married Emily Malmkar on November 27, 1963. She survives of the home.

He was a pastor for 50 years ending his ministry at the Abundant Life Family Church, Lincoln NE.

Gilbert enjoyed reading and published four books. He loved his wife, kids, grandkids and great grandkids. He enjoyed working in the garden and with his animals and enjoyed traveling and sharing his faith with others.

Survivors include his wife, Emily; children, Jill Morrow, Jeff Kisling, and Robert Campbell; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Gene Kisling, Russell Kisling and Karen Kreutzer.

Mark A. Merritt, a kind and loving father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2023, at the age of 62. Born on July 28, 1960, to Dennis G. and Benita M. (Becerra) Merritt in St. Joseph, Missouri, Mark's quiet and reserved nature touched the lives of many who knew him.

Mark spent his formative years in St. Joseph, where he attended Bishop LeBlond High School.

Throughout his life, Mark's greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He cherished every moment he had with them, creating memories that will be treasured by his loved ones for years to come.

Mark also enjoyed having lunch with his brothers. One of their favorite pastimes was sightseeing downtown and spending afternoons by the river, reminiscing about their childhood.

He was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Dennis G. and Karen Merritt; his mother and stepfather, Benita and Bill Peters; sisters, Diana Lindsey and Michelle Walts, and grandparents, Pablo and Marcelina Becerra.

James Robinson, 90, of Edgerton, MO, passed away, May 27, 2023.

He was born on August 30, 1932 to Raymond and Ora Mae (Wickam) Robinson in Clinton, MO. James grew up in Lincoln, MO and graduated from Lincoln High School.&nbsp;

On November 17th 1956 he was united in marriage to Jo Ann Wright. After their marriage they lived in Windsor, MO.

James served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 and saw action in the Korean War as a 105mm Recoilless Rifle operator and earned the rank of Corporal.

James retired from TWA as a maintenance instructor.&nbsp;He was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. James was an active member and was involved in Master Builders and traveled many places to help people in need. James was a loving husband and father and friend to many.

James was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Sammy and Bob Robinson; sister, Genevieve Beuell.&nbsp;

He is survived by his wife, Jo Ann; son, Michael (Dawn) Robinson; grandchildren, Geoffrey (Melissa) Robinson, Laura (Alex) Barden, and Danielle (Ricky) Tartamella; nine great- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

James Robinson 1932 - 2023

James Marion Scott Jr. of Cameron, Missouri went to be with his heavenly Father on May 29th, 2023, at age 92. Jim was born in Gentry County, Missouri on December 14th, 1930, to James Marion Scott (Pearl Scott) and Dorothy Nadine Fore (NB “Doc” Giles, DVM).

 Jim is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Barbara Salmon; brother, Tommy Scott; and grandson, Dustin Scott.

Jim attended school at Northwest Missouri State Teachers College and was devoted to his country, serving in the National Guard of Missouri and National Guard of United States from 1953~1955, and the Army of the United States from 1955~1957. Jim was stationed in Paris, France and enjoyed sharing military stories with his grandkids. Jim was a lifelong farmer and served on the Maysville R-1 board. Jim enjoyed his time working at Herzog, where the travels created many memories for Jim and Viv. In his later years, Jim spent time surrounded by his family, watching his grandkids and great-grandchildren grow. He was happy sitting in the timber and enjoying nature.

Jim is survived by the love of his life, Vivian Scott.&nbsp;&nbsp;Jim and Viv enjoyed 68 years of marriage and had three children, Scotty Clifton Scott (Terri Scott) of Maysville; Vada Lou Anglin of Kansas City; and Jerry James Scott (Mary-Ann Scott) of Osborn. 

Jim is survived by six grandchildren, Tyler Scott, Jamie Anglin, Stevie Anglin (Patrick McConnell), Jeri-Ann Scott, Amber Scott, and Taylor Black.&nbsp;&nbsp;Jim is survived by seven great-grandchildren, Autumn Dotson, Kaden Wood, Gemma McConnell, Myla Elardo, Hartley McConnell, Colt Findley, and Rhyott Scott.

In lieu of flowers, donations may go to the Salmon Cemetery in Pattonsburg, MO through the Pattonsburg BTC Bank.

Thelma enjoyed horses and animals and being in the outdoors. She owned the Savannah mini mall for several years. She enjoyed working and talking with people. She loved her husband Bob and missed their many outings and adventures they would go on. She was very talented in making Willow furniture, repairing beautiful ornate furniture, and painting. She loved Jesus Christ and read from her Bible daily.

Aaron Briscoe, a loving and kind soul, passed away on May 27, 2023, at the young age of 27. Born on January 29, 1996, in St. Joseph, Missouri, Aaron blessed the lives of those who knew him with his warmth, generosity, and immense talent.

Aaron's life was well-lived and, despite its brevity, left an indelible imprint on the hearts of many. His mother, Debbie (Garrett) Briscoe, brothers Robert Rout and Arthur Briscoe, and his numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles can attest to the deep bonds, love, and laughter he brought to their lives. Aaron is preceded in death by his father, Arthur Briscoe, Jr., and his sister, Audrey Williams.

From a young age, Aaron discovered his passion for art, becoming a talented artist. In addition to his passion for art, Aaron was an avid sports enthusiast. Basketball held a special place in his heart. It wasn't uncommon for Aaron to be found cheering and supporting teams, as the excitement of the sport brought him immense happiness.

Music also played a significant role in Aaron's life, with the guitar serving as his instrument of choice. Through practice and perseverance, he developed a unique sound that showcased his talent and passion for music.

At the core of Aaron's life was his devotion to friends and family, always willing to lend an ear or simply spend time together, laughing and enjoying each other's company. Aaron's ever-present smile and infectious sense of humor made him a beacon of light in the lives of others. Shawn was a fan of the Chiefs and Royals, and enjoyed going to car shows. He loved spending time with family, especially his nieces and nephews.

Shawn was raised in St. Joseph and graduated from Central High School in 1985.Shawn was a fan of the Chiefs and Royals, and enjoyed going to car shows. He loved spending time with family, especially his nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents.Survivors include siblings, Gary W. Gladys Harris, a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on May 23, 2023. She was born on October 16, 1931, in International Falls, Minnesota, to Raymond and Julia (Domish) Dardis.

She was a proud graduate of the University of Minnesota, where she earned her bachelor's degree in Journalism. Throughout her life, she put her knowledge and skills to use in numerous ways. Gladys had many jobs which included roles as a social worker, grant writer, teacher, and a dedicated worker for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Outside her work, Gladys loved to travel and she journeyed to various parts of the world. She loved taking drives across the countryside, marveling at the abundant colors in nature. Gladys was fascinated with archeology, attending clubs to expand her knowledge.

Gladys found joy in expressing herself through painting and ceramics. Her creativity and talent for bringing her ideas to life were evident in her beautiful and unique creations.

Gladys had a special fondness for cats, forming deep connections with her beloved feline companions. Her gentle, nurturing nature was undeniable, as she cared for these creatures with unwavering devotion.

With her love and care, Gladys built a beautiful family. She is survived by her children: Mike Harris (Esther), Julie Gouge, Susan, Tony (Carol), and Linda Harris. Gladys was immensely proud to be the grandmother of five grandchildren and the great-grandmother of seven great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews to cherish her memory. Gladys has now joined her parents, Raymond and Julia (Domish) Dardis, as well as her sister and brother-in-law, Doris and Gerald Ginter, in eternal rest.

Gertrude Florence Grafton Barnett, 93, Plattsburg, left her earthly home for Heaven on May 26th, 2023. She was the oldest daughter of Earnest &amp; Frances Grafton born January 30th, 1930, in Tiffany Springs, MO. She married Leon Barnett December 11, 1948.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son James, brothers Charles &amp; Donald Gene, brother-in-law Richard, 2 sisters-in-law Daisey &amp; Evelyn, son-in-law Jim Walker and two grandsons Geofrey and Chad Walker.&nbsp;

She is survived by her daughter, Terry and grandson Andrew Walker of the home, son Tom (Karen) of Springfield, daughter Frances (Duane) Blodgett of St. Joseph, daughter-in-law Margaret of Kearney, brother Joseph Grafton, sisters: Sandra (Tom) Utz, Shirley (Bill) Nichols and Brenda Lehmer; 14 grandchildren and 25 greats, plus a very large extended family and an even larger church family. &nbsp;

The matriarch of our family will be terribly missed. Gertrude was a member of the First Baptist Church for many years. She was very active in Bible school and enjoyed a sewing group at the church each week. She taught knitting classes in the community. When she was younger, she was a 4-H leader and enjoyed fishing. She loved her flowers and passed on that love to her sons &amp; daughters. She also loved knitting and crocheting, even after her eyes failed her, family gatherings and her family.&nbsp;

She loved her Savior. She was affectionately known as “Granny” by all her grandchildren.&nbsp;

Funeral service will be held at 11:30AM Wednesday May 31, 2023 at the First Baptist Church Plattsburg Missouri. &nbsp;Interment in the Mt. Zion Cemetery Gower Missouri. The family will gather with friends from 10AM until 11:30AM Wednesday at the church. The family suggests memorial gifts to the First Baptist Church Building Fund or the Plattsburg Senior Center. On the afternoon of May 26, 2023, Susan “Sue” Irene Long, 71, passed away peacefully at her home after a long battle with cancer. Susan was born June 22, 1951, in St. Joseph, Missouri to James and Hazel West. She attended Benton High School.

In July 1971, she married Roger Long of Mound City, and together they raised two sons Ezekial “Zeke” and Bryan. Several years after Roger’s death in 2006, Sue found love again with Leland Daise. For the last twelve years, they have had many adventures together.&nbsp;

Sue worked most of her life in home health care. She was a member of the Wyatt Park Christian Church, the Northwest Model A Club, and the Plain Ol’ A’s car club. She loved country dancing, her sweet dog, Bella, camping, and was ready to travel anywhere.&nbsp;

Along with her husband Roger, Sue was also preceded in death by her parents, James and Hazel West; brothers, Jim and Marvin West, sister, Mary Rose Gray. She is survived by her children Ezekial “Zeke” (Alisha) Long; Bryan Long; grandchildren, Jillian, Bailey and Campbell Long; partner, Leland Daise and sisters, Norma (John) Brown, Alice (Joe) Coats, Joann Hall, Carol Clark and Margie Cowley.

Services will take place at Chamberlain Funeral home in Mound City, Missouri on Wednesday, May 31, 2023. Family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 am, and memorial service will be held at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Mound City.

Susan Irene Long 1951 - 2023

Betty Sue (Wallace) Millsap relinquished her battle with cancer and passed away peacefully at her home in Tarkio, Missouri on May 27, 2023.

Betty was born in Hamburg, Iowa on November 12, 1945 to Delmar and Dora Lee (Marrs) Wallace. She grew up in Tarkio and went to Tarkio schools, graduating in 1963. She attended hairdressing school and received her license in cosmetology.&nbsp;

On August 13, 1966 Betty married Jack Millsap. Betty worked in Rock Port and Tarkio at various salons until 1973, then remained in the home as a housewife and mother. She babysat for a few years and always talked fondly about those kiddos. During her children’s school years, she was very active as a room mother. She was always there for, and loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, of which there were 19 total, and they loved her too! She spoiled them all rotten!

After the children had grown and moved out, Betty went to work at Place’s in Rock Port, later moving to the Tarkio store when it changed to Pamida, then ShopKo. She retired after several years.&nbsp;

Betty was a member of the Tarkio Baptist Church. Betty enjoyed being outdoors and her flower gardens.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother-in-law, Gerald Lee, nephew, Bill Lee, granddaughter, Devin Faith Millsap and grandson, Kevin Michael Beck.&nbsp;

She is survived by her husband Jack; children, Miranda Thomas, Troy, Missouri, Shellee Driskell (Chris Hall), and Chris (Sarah) Millsap, all of Rock Port; former sons-in-law, Scott Driskell, Rock Port, and Mark Thomas, St. Peters, Missouri; sister, Cindy Lee, Tarkio; brother, Phil Wallace; grandchildren, Shawn (Ashley) Beck, O’Fallon, Missouri, Danielle (Josh) Stewart, Hazelwood, Missouri, David Beck, Malakoff, Texas, Johnathan Thomas, Hazlewood, Missouri, Andrew (Courtney) Thomas, Dardene Prairie, Missouri, Kyle (Carrie) Driskell; Brittany (Kory) Paris, Case, and Jovie and Rhett Millsap, all of Rock Port; ten great grandchildren; niece, Missy (Robert) McClellan; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Stephen Carley Anderson, 33, known to most as Carl, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. 

Although his death was due to tragedy, Carl knew his hope was in Jesus and desired to serve the Lord for as many days as he was granted. He was from St. Joseph, Missouri. 

Carl was survived by his wife Taylor and his four children: James, Janelle, Lillian and Everest; his parents: Jonathan and Rachel Anderson; in laws: Brent and Judy Smotherman; his siblings: Annie Tegg (Jon), Janelle Derr (Greg), Wes Smotherman (Cari), Brice Smotherman (Jessie) and Addie Smotherman; 6 Nieces and 4 Nephews and many more extended family who all loved him.
