In Loving Memory of Marva Murawski, Beloved Mother and Cherished Grandmother.
Marva Lane Murawski, age 76, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and wisdom that will forever be remembered by those who knew her.
Born on October 22, 1947 in Cosby, MO to Nelson and Berniece (Schindler) Kapp. Marva was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend whose warmth and compassion was always there. Her love and guidance have touched the hearts of many and will continue to inspire others to come.
Marva grew up in Cosby, MO on a dairy farm. She graduated from Savannah High School in 1965. She then continued her education at William Jewell College earning a bachelor’s degree in education. Marva moved to Gower, MO after graduating from William Jewell in 1969, where she began her career at East Buchanan School District. She served as a history teacher in the high school and then as the middle school librarian until she retired.
Marva also received her master’s degree in education from Webster University. After retirement, Marva continued her passion in education working at Missouri Western, Kansas City School District and substituting at the East Buchanan School District.
Marva is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Matt and Jennifer Murawski of Wildwood, MO; daughter and son-in-law Lane and Bill Elcan of Washington, MO; daughter Jill Billings of Smithville, MO; seven grandchildren, Madelyn Murawski, Lily Elcan, Josi Billings, Ava Murawski, Vivian Murawski, Tanner Billings and Liam Elcan; Marva’s brothers and sisters-in-law’s Meredith and Joann Kapp of St. Joseph, MO and Stan and Patricia Kapp of Cosby, MO; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
As a mother, Marva gave her heart and soul into nurturing and supporting her children. She was their biggest cheerleader, their friend and mentor, and the person who was always there to listen and advice. Her love knew no bounds, and she always put her family's needs above her own. Marva’s legacy of selflessness and unconditional love will live on in the hearts of her children forever.
As a grandmother, Marva was a source of joy and inspiration. She adored and was proud of her grandchildren and took great enjoyment in watching them grow and thrive. From living room fashion shows and scavenger hunts together to sharing stories and laughter, she created countless memories that will be treasured for a lifetime.In addition to her role as a devoted mother and grandmother, Marva was also a beloved member of her community and the Gower Christian Church, where she dedicated many years as the organist. Marva was best known for her role as the school’s librarian, taking her morning walks with her coffee cup, her dalmatian running wild through town, playing Mahjong weekly with her friends and her love of the Kansas City Chiefs and Mizzou Tigers. Her generosity was limitless, and her impact will be felt by the people whose life she touched. She has left an incredible mark on the world, and her memory will continue to be an inspiration for all who were blessed to have known her.
Visitation will be Friday June 7, 2024 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Gower Christion Church AFC. A family only grave site service will be on Saturday in Cosby, MO.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask for donations to the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Marva.
Marva will be dearly missed but never forgotten. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love of those who have gone before her.
