Ralph L. Widner 1948 - 2024

It is with profound sadness, we announce the passing of Ralph L. Widner, age 76, of St. Joseph, MO who departed from this world on Saturday, June 1, 2024. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and boundless generosity that will continue to resonate within the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Ralph was born on April 1, 1948, in Wolf Lake, Indiana to Howard and Anna (Bollhoefer) Widner. He grew up in Speed, MO and graduated from Verona Sr. High School. On May 4, 1968, Ralph married Judy A. (Burnett) Widner and the shared 56 years of love, companionship, and adventure together.

He worked in Nebraska, Kansas, and Missouri running stave mills before he began his career at Quaker Oats, where he also served as a union representative. He retired from Quaker Oats after 30 years and ran Widner Lawn Service for 21 years.

Ralph was a beacon of light to all who crossed his path. He touched countless lives with his unwavering compassion, kindheartedness, and infectious smile. He cherished every moment spent in the company of loved ones, creating unforgettable memories that will be treasured for generations to come.

Ralph enjoyed hunting and camping, especially the large family and friends annual camping trip. He always found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He especially enjoyed attending his granddaughters’ softball games and activities. Most of all he loved his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Judy of the home; daughter Jennifer Frankum; son-in-law, James Frankum; granddaughters, Ryleigh and Raegann Frankum all of Agency, MO; brothers, Dean Widner of Speed, MO and Mark (Betty) Widner of St. Joseph, MO; sisters-in-law, Janet Widner of Lone Elm, MO and Judith Widner of Jefferson City, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Anna; sister, Anne Kempf (Fred); brothers, Jerry, Lee, and Hugh Widner.

Though his physical presence may be gone, Ralph's spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those he loved. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Farewell services will be held in honor of Ralph at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel in St. Joseph, MO 10:00 AM on Friday, June 7, 2024. The family will receive friends 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Thursday, June 6th at our chapel. Interment Agency Cemetery.
