Steven Glen Kilgore, 60 of Gower, MO passed away October 22, 2025.

He was born on November 4, 1964, to Arthur Glen and Jean (Raney) Kilgore in Kansas City, MO. Steve grew up in Gower and in 1983, he graduated from East Buchanan High School. He received his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, MO.

On September 3, 1988, he was united in marriage to Vickie Christine Walker. After their marriage they lived in Kansas City and settled in Gower where they raised their family and made their home.

Steve built his career of 38 years working for Travelport. He enjoyed outdoor activities including hunting, camping, cooking, canoeing, golfing, skiing and attending KC Chiefs games. Steve loved being a husband and dad, most of all, he loved being a grandpa.

He was preceded in death by his dad Glen Kilgore.

Steve is survived by his wife Vickie Kilgore; his sons Aaron (Piper) Kilgore, Sean (Lauren) Kilgore and Ryan (Chloe) Kilgore; grandchildren Rhys, Anora, Baker, Delaney and Colter; his mother Jean (Ron) Cravens; his brothers Keith (Shanna) Kilgore and Kent Kilgore; his sister-in-law Tracy (Thomas) Greenwell; his father-in-law Lanny (Becky) Walker; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Private family burial will be held at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Kansas City, MO.Celebration of Life Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 30th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home in Gower.

Alice I. Allsbury, 98, Kansas City, Missouri, formerly of St. Joseph, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Benton House of Tiffany Springs, surrounded by her loving family.

Alice was born on August 15, 1927, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to the late Lloyd and Genevieve (Schmelebeck) Bear. &nbsp;Alice married Nelson E. Allsbury on July 27, 1946. &nbsp;Together they celebrated 53 years of marriage until his passing on October 13, 1999.

Ms. Allsbury was a devoted wife and mother to their ten children. &nbsp;

In addition to her husband and parents, Alice was also preceded in death by their first born son Phillip Wayne (July 1947) and daughter Bonnie Allsbury.

Survivors include her sons Jerry (Deborah), Morris (Charlene), Donald (Grace), Phillip, Nelson (Yvonne) and James (Rochelle), as well as daughters Diana Wilson (Win), Alice Minor (Bruce) and Cindy Esposito (Phil). &nbsp;Alice has 19 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Linda "Susie" Susan Watkins (Farr), 69, of Leavenworth, KS, passed away&nbsp;on October 13th, 2025 at St. Johns Hospital. She was born on February&nbsp;18th, 1956 in Dearborn, MO to Byron &amp; Kathern Farr. Linda was a graduate&nbsp;of Leavenworth High School, class of 1974. She married her love, Johnnie&nbsp;Watkins on August 4th, 1978 and they proceeded to have two daughters,&nbsp;Kristin &amp; Megan. She retired after 42 years from Hallmark Cards. In her&nbsp;free time she enjoyed reading, cross stitching and spending time with her&nbsp;grandchildren.

Linda is survived by her parents; Byron &amp; Kathern Farr, her&nbsp;two daughters; Kristin Aldridge, and Megan Ruble (Dennis), her four&nbsp;grandchildren; Samantha Aldridge, Lindsay Aldridge, Cheyenne Ruble, &amp;&nbsp;Brantley Ruble. She is also survived by her sister Patty Farr Jones, her&nbsp;brother Barney Farr (Jackie), her sister-in-law Lisa Blankenship (Bernie)&nbsp;and numerous nieces and nephews.

Linda is preceded in death by her&nbsp;husband Johnnie. Linda was the kindest, most big hearted and generous&nbsp;person you could know. She will forever be greatly missed.

Connie Sue (Anderson) King 74, died on July 27, 2025. She was born, the first of three children to Luther and Betty (Stoffer) Anderson, on Independence Day, July 4, 1951. Connie was premature, and she was the first baby to use the incubator at the NEW Hiawatha Community Hospital. She and her siblings grew up on the family farm, south of Robinson, she was baptized and confirmed at Upper Wolf Lutheran Church, attended Robinson Grade and High Schools, and graduated from Hiawatha High School in 1969. Connie attended Highland Community College where she met Jerry Yingling, and they were later married.&nbsp;

Their son, Justin Lyle Yingling was born while they lived in the Chicago area, and later moved to St. Charles, MO, where Connie worked at Lambert International Airport in the Air Express Dept. &nbsp;Connie met and married Woody King in 1991. In 1996, they moved to Hiawatha, KS, to be closer to Connie’s parents and family. &nbsp;Connie continued her airline profession, making the drive to MCI, outside of Kansas City, and again working with Burlington-Northern in Air Express until she retired in 2010. &nbsp;

After retirement, Connie enjoyed working and making friends at Metzger Eyecare, Hiawatha Thriftway and later, at the Horton Thriftway. She enjoyed traveling with her sister Nancy, and also loved riding along with Woody in his Commercial Trucking semi across the US, and enjoying yearly Balloon Festivals in the Albuquerque, NM area.

And, Connie loved animals, especially her coal-black cat, Abby Sue ! When she visited son Justin, and Lucy in Clearfield, UT, and as a Member of Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, Utah, the largest no-kill sanctuary in the US, Connie volunteered with Justin and Lucy at Best Friends. Memorials can be made to Brown Co. Humane Society, 2393 Mallard Rd., Hiawatha, KS

Survivors of Connie include son &nbsp;Justin Lyle (Lucy), sister Nancy (Anderson) Rockey Thomas, nephews Brady and Bryan Rockey, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Connie King July 4, 1951-July 27, 2025

Lieutenant Commander (Retired) Janet Carol Wohlgemuth, 89, passed away October 10, 2025, peacefully at her home in Oxnard, California, where she had lived since retiring from the United States Navy in 1978. Carol was born on November 27, 1935, to Thelma and Ed Wohlgemuth. She grew up on the family farm near Atchison, Kansas, where she loved helping her father work on the farm. She continued her education after graduating from Atchison High School, receiving her nursing degree from Missouri Methodist School of Nursing in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Carol joined the Nurse Corps of the United States Navy in 1957. She retired as a Lieutenant Commander after twenty-one years of service. She served at Naval and Marine bases in the United States and in both hemispheres. In addition to various postings in the U.S., she served abroad at Subic Bay, Philippines; Yokosuka, Japan; Naples, Italy; and the Naval Hospital in Danang, Vietnam, 1969-1970. From these duty stations, she traveled widely in Asia and Europe, amassing her beloved “world treasures.” In addition, she visited each of the fifty states in the U.S. As an officer in Danang’s Naval Hospital, she was responsible for evaluating and mentoring over 150 corpsmen as well as supervising patient assignments to thirteen surgical units.

While serving aboard the hospital ship, U.S.S. Sanctuary, in 1972, she helped equip the ship for recommissioning and then sailed from San Francisco, passing through the Panama Canal, to Colombia and Haiti, where they helped provide medical care for civilians. When asked about providing medical care in stressful and dangerous situations, such as Danang, her response was, “We had a job to do.” She was devoted to that job. Carol’s nursing assignments were always focused in the operating room. After retiring from the Navy, she worked in the surgical unit of St. John’s Medical Center in Oxnard for eighteen years. Despite the seriousness of her work, Carol was outgoing and fun-loving, always surrounded by a group of like-minded friends.

Carol was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Oxnard, where she served as Elder. She was also an active member of The Military Officers Association of America, the Association of Operating Room Nurses, and a charter member of The Women’s Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Elizabeth W. Duckers and Dorothy W. Lynch. She is survived by her sisters Joan W. Musbach (St. Louis) and Lois W. Stanton (Austin), as well as six loving nieces and nephews: Ed Duckers, Kyle Duckers, Sarah Duckers, Susan L. Brown, Teresa L. Hanna, and Lisl Stanton; as well as dear neighbors and friends, especially Celeste and Sophie.

A military funeral service and inurnment for Carol will be in Atchison, Kansas, at a date yet to be determined, under the direction of the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested for the LCDR J. C. Wohlgemuth Nursing Scholarship at the University of Kansas School of Nursing. Kerrie Lee Lemon, 68, of Savannah, Missouri, passed away on October 19, 2025, at Mosaic Hospital in St. Joseph. She was born on January 11, 1957, to Richard and Rosemary (Schweizer) Smith.

A lifelong resident of Andrew County, Kerrie graduated from Savannah High School in 1975. She married Paul Lemon on May 20, 1983. He preceded her in death in 2019. She was also preceded in death by her parents and brothers-in-law, Donald Dillman and Gary Lemon.

Kerrie was employed by Northwest Missouri Electric Cooperative for 18 years. As an avid antique collector, she delighted in filling her home with cherished finds. She was a talented artist with a natural gift for creating unique handmade treasures, with a special focus on needlepoint projects. Cooking and experimenting with new recipes brought her joy, as did her passion for music and movies. She was a devoted animal lover and opened her heart to many pets over the years. &nbsp;Kerrie was known for her thoughtful tradition of sending beautiful greeting cards to friends, relatives, and others whose paths had crossed hers through every walk of life.

Survivors include her siblings, Jan Dillman, Susan (Tim) Patterson, Clare (Billie) Messick, and Tom (Angel) Smith; niece, Emily Messick; nephew, Raymond Smith; and several cousins.

In keeping with Kerrie’s wishes, no services are planned. Cremation was under the direction of Breit-Hawkins Funeral Home.

Thomas married Brenda Painter on February 11, 1971. She survives of the home.

He proudly served his country as a cook in the U.S. Navy from 1963 to 1983. After retiring from active duty, he worked in the U.S. Army Commissary for 25 years. He was a member of the VFW Post 6760, where he served as post commander in 1986-87.

In earlier years, he and Brenda loved to go square dancing at the Joyce Raye Patterson Center with his parents. Later on, he enjoyed getting out and about in town, especially with the grandkids, and enjoying time in his favorite chair with his beloved dog Merlin curled up in his lap.

Most of all, Thomas was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who was considered a dad by many of his children’s friends as well.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Samuel W. Herndon III, Bill Herndon, and James Wesley Power.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Brenda; children, Thomas Powers II, Austina Hernandez (Oscar), and James Powers; bonus son, Dennis Herrick, Jr.; grandchildren, Rico Powers, Carmen Triminario, and Ethan Hernandez; great-granddaughter, Leilani Hernandez; other extended family and friends.

Alfred Lee Boyer, 66, of St Joseph, Missouri passed away Saturday, October 18, 2025 at University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS. He was born November 15, 1958 in St. Joseph, son, of Joyce and Alva Lee Boyer.  Al graduated from Benton High School, class of 1977.  On July 3, 1981, he married Rita Ashler.

Al worked at Car City, where he retired after 40 years in 2018 as a Service Manager.  Al was a member of The American Mountain Men, Son's of American Revolution, Mic-O-Say tribe, holding the rank of Medicine Man - Brown Bull, and he attended Agency United Methodist Church. Alfred truly loved his wife, kids, and grandkids. He loved all his family and friends, which he instilled his love for the outdoors, Native American artifacts, Classic Cars, Taxidermy, and American History.  He devoted 54 years to his self-taught hobby of Taxidermy.

Preceding him in death are his parents, brother, Mark Boyer, and father/mother in-law John and Minnie Ashler. Janis Kay (Hayes) Roorda, 78, passed peacefully into the arms of God on October 16, 2025, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, lovingly cared for by her faithful husband of 12 years, Bruce.

Janis was born on May 31, 1947, in Detroit, Michigan, to Kenneth M. and Evelyn B. (Losen) Hayes, the first of four children. Janis graduated from Trenton (Michigan) High School in 1965, earned her B.S.N. in 1969 from the University of Michigan. In 1975, she received her M.S.N. from Wayne State University, Detroit.

After many years in nursing and healthcare administration, she heard the call of God to ministry, graduating from Saint Paul School of Theology, Kansas City, in 2012 with her Master of Divinity. From 2009-2020, Janis was a member of the Missouri Conference of the United Methodist Church and pastored several churches in northwest Missouri. It was during this time she met and married Bruce Roorda, who has shared her life, and cancer journey with grace and humor. She retired from official ministry in December 2020, after serving Mound City UMC in Holt County for five years.

Throughout her life, Janis was engaged in caring ministries focused on growing Christians’ relationships to Christ. She recognized that the Body of Christ was more than the local congregation: it was the collection and interplay of various congregations and denominations, each bringing its own gifts. This was the seed for the Mound City churches to form The Shop, serving Holt County schools and communities together in Christ’s name.

Janis was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law Dorothy and Norman Roorda, and Althea and Steve Tobias; sisters-in-law Connie (Tobias) Bertram and Janelle (Clausen) Hayes; brother-in-law Michael Bolinger; nephews Nathan Bolinger and Matthew Bertram; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She is survived by her husband, Bruce Roorda of the home; children Sarah Lynne (Bob) Parsons of Platte City, MO, and Stephen Joseph Tobias of Portland, Oregon and their father Stephen Carl Tobias of Bedford, TX; grandsons, Joshua David Stephens (St. Louis, MO) and Jared Michael Parsons (Platte City, MO); sisters Lynne Bolinger (Winona Lake, IN), Kristine (Steve) Amerson (Ventura, CA), and brother Kenneth (Kristin) Hayes (Charlotte, NC); one Aunt, Joan Losen (Richmond, VA), and many nieces, nephews, and their families.

Delbert "Del" Ernest Gentzell, 96, of St. Joseph, MO, passed away October 18, 2025 at the Missouri Veteran's Home in Cameron, MO.

Del was born May 10, 1929 in St. Joseph to Claude Clayton and Beulah Mae (Hill) Gentzell. &nbsp;He was a graduate of Lafayette High School and served his country honorably in the US Army during the Korean War.&nbsp;

He had worked for the North Kansas City School District, Heartland Health Systems St. Joseph, MO, and retired from Walmart.

Del was a member of Maxwell Heights Presbyterian Church and also attended at the First Church of the Nazarene. &nbsp;He was a member of the American Legion Post #359, Boy Scouts of America of the Kansas City, MO Council, and was on the senior citizen bowling league in St. Joseph.

He was married to Georgia Christman and she preceded him in &nbsp;death. &nbsp;Also preceding him in death were his parents; brother Clifford; and sister Clara Mae Blankenship.

Survivors include son Robert Gentzell; nephews, William Blankenship (Mary), Eugene Blankenship, Jr., Dennis Gentzell (Linda); nieces, Barbara Baber, Karen O'Neill; step-son Larry Dale Justice; and step-daughter Joyce Elaine Jackson (Paul).

Frank loved his family and was dedicated to serving the Lord. He was a member of Freeman Chapel.

Frank retired from Affiliated Foods after 42 years of service. He enjoyed sports, outdoor activities, and wildlife. He spent time with his family at Bent Tree Harbor and Truman Lake. He loved all animals and hated technology.

He was born January 28, 1966 in St. Joseph to Paul and Linda (Henderson) Fattig.

Paul proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps.

On October 5, 1986, he was united in marriage to Staci Parker. She survives of the home.

He spent his career working in management in St. Joseph, where he had many loyal customers.

Paul enjoyed watching movies, spending time with family and friends, and playing video games.

He was born October 20, 1987 to Michael P. McCarthy and Marlene A. (Bonnell) Thornton in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

An unwavering bond was evident in the relationship Joshua shared with his son. Together, they created precious memories through their shared passion for playing games.

A hard worker to his core, he approached every job with unmatched energy and enthusiasm, consistently going above and beyond what was required. He was often described as a man who wore his heart on his sleeve, and rightfully so, for his empathy knew no bounds. Joshua’s actions spoke volumes of his character; he was always the first to offer a helping hand.

Yet, it was Joshua's ability to light up a room that will be most fondly remembered. His sense of humor, quick wit, and the sheer joy he brought with him were truly the life of any party.

On July 18, 2003, she married Henry Lee Henderson. Their union was a testament to enduring partnership and mutual respect, although Henry sadly predeceased Annette in 2016.

Annette devoted herself to a career in healthcare, providing comfort and care to countless patients as an LPN in St. Joseph, Missouri for 25 years.

She was an adventurer at heart, embracing the joy of travel. Beyond her adventures, her faith was a cornerstone of her existence. She was a member of St Joseph Three Angels Seventh-day Adventist Church. Annette loved the Lord with all her heart and lived a life that reflected her beliefs, embodying kindness, charity, and an enduring hope.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

&nbsp;Alvin Turner Hoy, 81, of Platte City, MO, passed away on Friday, Oct. 17, 2025, at North Kansas City Hospital. He passed peacefully, surrounded by family.

Alvin was born on January 26, 1944, to John C. and Clara (Cox) Hoy in Kansas City, MO. He was a proud graduate of Park Hill High School and Northwest Missouri State University. He was then drafted into the military, where he bravely served for two years, including time in Vietnam. Afterward, he returned to his alma mater, Park Hill High School, where he worked as a guidance counselor and coached the basketball team. He was deeply passionate about his time there and made a lasting impact on his students and the school district. After retiring from Park Hill, he moved to San Diego, where he worked for the Navy as an Education Specialist. Upon retiring from the Navy, he returned to Kansas City, where he enjoyed retirement to the fullest.

While Alvin was seemingly always on the move—traveling, playing golf, running, and even competing in multiple marathons—he also appreciated the simple things in life, like his morning coffee, and ice cold beer, and cheering on his favorite team, the Kansas City Chiefs. During his travels, Alvin met thousands of people, each leaving a profound impact on his life, thanks to his genuine care for everyone he encountered. Though Alvin made friends across the country, his strongest and most meaningful relationships were with his family, whom he loved and supported throughout his life. Alvin will be remembered for his kindness, compassion, and the light he brought to every relationship and experience.

He is survived by his wife, Yun Maria Hoy, and they were married for 25 years. His daughter, Kelly Slavin; and three grandchildren: Madeline Phillips, Cameron Slavin, and Carter Slavin. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Hoy, and his parents, John C. and Clara Hoy.

Sue was born at Sabetha in Nemaha County, KS November 4, 1947, the eldest of two children born to Ray and Maude Josephine Jenkins Moler and had lived most of her life in Hiawatha. &nbsp; She spent her growing up years in Powhattan where she graduated from high school in 1965. &nbsp;Sue worked in restaurants around Horton as a waitress, also as a dishwasher and cook.

She like to read books, play bingo, and watch television.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Raymond, and a nephew Marcus.

Jane Ann Smith, 74, of Hiawatha, died peacefully in the early morning hours of October 16, 2025 at Maple Heights Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Jane was born at Horton, November 6, 1950, one of four children born to the late Harry and Dena Rae Maxwell Elliott. &nbsp;She grew up at Falls City, Nebraska where she attended Falls City schools, where she later graduated high school.

&nbsp;Soon after graduation, she married Steven Werner and were blessed with three children: &nbsp;Todd, Michael, and Sara. &nbsp;Jane was dedicated to her young family by staying at home instead of working out. &nbsp;After they left the house, she enjoyed her work as a cook for local restaurants and in later years at nursing homes. &nbsp;She and Steven divorced.

She met and later married Ken Smith. &nbsp;They made their home at Whidbey Island in Washington State for a number of years until he passed away. &nbsp;Jane returned to this area and settled in Hiawatha to make her home.

Survivors include two sons: &nbsp;Todd Werner (Judy) of Munford, TN, Michael Werner of Hiawatha; a daughter Sara Simmonds of Wisner, NE, three brothers: &nbsp;David Elliott of the Ozarks in Missouri, Ron Elliott of Omaha, NE, and Mark Elliott of Las Vegas, NV; and seven grandchildren.

Graveside inurnment service is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the Rose Hill Cemetery, Robinson. &nbsp;Pastor Rich Lehmkuhl will officiate.

Immediately following service, family and friends are invited to Stanton Lake in Falls City, for a time of fellowship and lunch.

Barbara was born on November 26, 1951, in Cummings, KS, the daughter of Charles Howard “C.H.” Fowler, Sr. and Lela Maude (Heater) Fowler. She is a graduate of Atchison County Community High School, class of 1969. Barbara married Stephan Harley Lively at the Little Church of the West, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He preceded her in death on May 25, 2015. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a nephew, Steve Shipman, and three sisters, Joan Basye from Watertown, SD, and Marian Whitenack and Charlene Latzke from Atchison.&nbsp;

At the time of her retirement, Barbara was the secretary to the Director of Center for Army Leadership at the United States Department of War. She and Steve enjoyed traveling and caring for pets they adopted from local shelters.&nbsp;

She is survived by her sister, Kay Domann, Lawrence, KS; her brother. Charles (LaVerne) Fowler, Nortonville, KS; stepdaughters, Stephanie (Ken) Britt and Staci Jane Lively; a step granddaughter, Sidney Jane Lively; and several nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

Graveside services will be held at Leavenworth National Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her late husband, Steve.&nbsp;

She was born August 11, 1935 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of Eva Esther (Powers) and Loyd Simpson Sr. &nbsp;Delores attended Benton High School. On December 31, 1954, she married Jay Claycomb.

She spent many years owning and operating many store fronts, which included the Cody House in Weston and Lemon Tree Antique Shop in St. Joseph. She loved supporting her children in all their activities. She was very passionate about everything she did, whether it was designing, painting, floral arrangements, or antiques. Delores was a member of the St. Joseph Show and Shine Club, and the former Carnegie Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death is her husband, Jay Claycomb, her parents, brother, Loyd Simpson II, and sister, Mary Wilcoxson. Survivors include: her three sons, Larry (Treasa) Claycomb of St. Joseph, Richard (Tami) Claycomb of Agency, MO, and Scott (Shirley) Claycomb of St. Joseph, sister, Marty (William) Winder of St. Joseph, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

Lucila Cruz De Ortiz 55, of St Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2025 at Mosaic Life Care. She was born June 14, 1970 in Santa Ana Maya, Michoacan, Mexico, daughter of Elvira and Manuel Cruz. Lucila loved shopping, and she was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by father, Manuel Cruz, and brother, Luis Cruz-Garcia. Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 20, 2025 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Father Johnathan Davis, Celebrant. A Rosary will be held at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, at Rupp Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday. The Interment will follow the Mass at the Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Se rezará el rosario el domingo a las 17:00 en la Funeraria Rupp, donde la familia recibirá a sus amigos de 17:30 a 19:00. El entierro se realizará después de la misa en el Cementerio Monte de los Olivos.
