He was born July 12, 2021 in Kansas City to Troy Cummings and Linnessa Lemons.

Atlas was a happy, vibrant, curious, confident “big” boy who loved preschool and making new friends.

He was a loving, sweet boy who gave the best hugs but had a little ornery streak and didn’t mind getting silly now and then.

Naturally curious, Atlas loved tractors, combines, big red trucks, and dinosaurs. The outdoors was his playground, where he enjoyed walks and hikes with his parents and anything water-related. He loved playing with his cousins and visiting his grandparents.

Atlas was the light of our lives who brought great joy and laughter to everyone who knew and loved him. Atlas is greatly loved by all his family.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Roger W. Andres; and great-grandmother, Ellen Gallagher.

Julia Kay (Meadows) Gatton, 76, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2024.

She was born September 30, 1948 in St. Joseph to Harold and Dorothy (Hutchison) Meadows. She was a 1966 graduate of Central High School.

Julia married Frank C. Gatton on April 6, 1968. He preceded her in death on September 1, 1990.

She worked in production at Mead Products for 26 years, then worked at Nestle-Purina for seven years before retiring.

Julia loved to craft, and was up for any road trip or to go shopping. She also loved her dogs very much. She was very active in Relay for Life and cancer walks. She loved being outdoors, whether it was gardening, tending to her flowers, or just sitting outside enjoying the peace.

An outgoing woman who loved people, Julia was definitely the cool mom whom all her children’s friends called “Mama Julie.”

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; her parents; and siblings, Deborah Trail and Marilee Montgomery.

Survivors include her children, Christine Crabtree (Carlton), Marcia Gatton (Chad), and Frank Gatton; grandson, Brock Crabtree (Cassie); great-grandson, Jaxson Crabtree; siblings, Sandra Henry, Marc Meadows (Donna), and Brenda Hitchens.

Shirley J. (Bouge) Sharp, 89, Dekalb, MO, passed away at home surrounded by her family and caregivers, Steve, Lisa, Stevie, Patti Lawson, on Wednesday, October 23, 2024.

She was born October 12, 1935, to Harvey and Anna (Zwaduk) Bouge, in St. Joseph, MO.

Shirley married James C. Sharp on December 7, 1958, and they were married 59 years before Jim passed away on November 1, 2017.

Shirley skipped the 3rd grade and was a 1952 graduate of Benton High School at 16 years of age. Her first job was a bookkeeper for three of IJ Nickerson’s businesses and later worked for the Farmer’s State Bank in South St. Joseph.

Shirley was married at Hyde Park Methodist Church and was a member of Dekalb Christian Church for many years. She was also a member of T-Cinco and Dekalb Homemakers Club.

Shirley entertained family and friends in their home and made many homecooked meals for those who worked for them on the family farm. She had a love for all things cardinal birds, puzzles, photography, scrapbooking, traveling and mushroom hunting.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Survivors include her three children, Scotty Sharp, Debbie Carter and Lisa Lawson. Shirley has 6 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Delilah married Steve Kocipak on May 14, 1949. He preceded her in death on January 29, 2001.

She served as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses faithfully for 85 years.

Delilah was a very independent woman who dearly loved her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Steve; daughter, Joni Compton; her parents; and siblings, June Wolverton, Betty Sloan, and Jack Homan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Stacie Tinney and two brothers Dean and Joe. &nbsp;

Saundra L. Renner, 80, of Mayetta, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2024 at the Holton Community Hospital.

She was born July 21, 1944 at Holton, the daughter of Paul and Elva May Moseley. She graduated from Seaman High School in 1962.

She married William Renner on December 31, 1966 in Topeka. He survives, of the home.

Saundra was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, William Paul Renner, who died in infancy, and Paul Jefferson Renner, a grandson, Zachary Thomas Tanking, and two brothers, David Moseley and Steven Moseley.

Other survivors include a son, William Renner, IV (Chris Balocca), two daughters, Susan Tanking (Greg), Holton and Sara Hamner (Kris), Colorado Springs, CO, one brother, Michael Mosley (Pam), Hoyt, three grandsons, William Hamner, Jacob Tanking (Connor), and Sam Tanking (Emma), and four great grandchildren, Tripp and Reed Tanking, and Josephine and Georgia Tanking.

Donald Keith Scheib was born April 14, 1936 to Melvin and Kathleen (Campbell) Scheib. Don passed away on October 27, 2024 at Oregon Healthcare at the age of 88.

On June 22, 1958 he married Judy Kneale and they had two children, Scott Scheib and Carol (Scheib) Rogers.

After graduating from NWMSU he worked for the ASCS office in Mound City, MO as a technician. In the 1970's he was the mayor of Oregon, and during his terms he was instrumental in getting the sewers installed.&nbsp;

He loved to farm, and improving and preserving the soil was always important to him. From this love he started Scheib Drainage Products in 1976.&nbsp;

He never met a home improvement project too big and worked countless hours on his kids' and grandkids' homes. There was never a community project or activity that he wasn't one of the first to volunteer to help.

Don was a member of Oregon Lodge #139, the Order of the Eastern Star, Scottish Rite, Kiwanis Club, Southern Holt Fire District member and board member, Maple Grove Cemetery Board, South Holt Development Board, Holt County Research &amp; Museum Board, Holt County Autumn Festival President and Board member, Land Improvement Contractors Association and the Oregon United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister; and his wife, Judy.

He is survived&nbsp; by his son Scott (Carla) Scheib and daughter Carol (Steve) Rogers; grandchildren, Katy (Lenny) Hihath, Lindsey (Brandon) Ritter, Abby (Nicholas) Christensen, Brett (Sarah) Scheib and Stephanie (Jared) Allen; great grandchildren, Libby, Ellie and Eva Hihath, Aiden, Jackson and Mia Vasquez, Sawyer and Savannah Ritter, Dylan and Harper Christensen, Emma and Eric Scheib, and Molly, Campbell, Enoch, Micah and Titus Allen.

Maysville, Missouri…Steven Douglas Fisher, age 62, was born June 7, 1962 the son of Johnnie Lee and Gladys Fay (Boller) Fisher in St. Joseph, Missouri and passed away October 24, 2024 with his family by his side.

On April 30, 1999, Steven and Regina &nbsp;Sprague were united in marriage. Steven was a volunteer fire fighter for the Maysville area. He enjoyed gardening and cooking. He loved spending time outdoors hunting, fishing, and camping, but time spent with family was what he cherished most.&nbsp;

Steven is preceded in death by his father, Johnnie; and granddaughter, Maddie.&nbsp;

He leaves behind his wife, Regina; mother, Gladys; four daughters, Stephanie (Josh) Ayres, Lora (Caleb) Cromer, Amber (Jeb) Hays, Ashley (Zac) Buzzard; grandchildren, Elijah, Riley, Dustin, Wyatt, Kamie, Makenzie, Grayson, Kayson; and many other relatives and friends.&nbsp;

Steven Douglas Fisher 1962 - 2024

Priscilla G. Frazier passed away peacefully on October 26th, 2024 at Laverna Village in Savannah, Missouri. Priscilla was born on December 24th, 1933 in Manila, Philippines to Felix and Estrella Gayoso. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Victoriano, Rosalita (Rosa), Peregrina (Nina), Lillian, Remidios (Remy), Julieta, and Rita. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William E. Frazier.

She is survived by her sister, Rosalita, and her children William Frazier Jr., Brenda (Eric) LaFollette, and John Frazier (Mindy). Grandchildren, Priscilla Beckham (Cody), Zachary, Jennifer LaFollette (Shane), Benjamin, Ryan, and Brooke Eriksen. Great Grandchild, Harper Beckham, and many nieces and nephews and cousins.

Priscilla spent her early years in Manila while her father worked for the Spanish Consulate. As a young adult, she moved to a small apartment in Olongapo and began working as a clerical secretary at the Subic Bay Marine Base. While working, she met and fell in love with Bill, a Marine Corps Sergeant. They were married, on May 15th, 1960, and moved back to the Kansas City area in 1961. She was a U.S. citizen and took great pride in being an American. Priscilla raised three children and dedicated many years to a career in the insurance industry before retiring.

After retirement, Priscilla and Bill enjoyed traveling and spent winters in Homosassa, Florida, where she considered herself a true Floridian. While Bill was fishing in the Gulf, she spent her days line dancing with the girls. She was very passionate about dancing and she excelled at many disciplines, including salsa, ballroom, and country line dancing. She loved shopping for fancy clothes, shoes, and jewelry. Her collection of size 5 shoes and cowboy boots was probably only surpassed by Emelda Marcos! She loved dressing up and would always look amazing, even on a regular Tuesday afternoon. She loved going to the lake and spending time near the ocean.

Priscilla was loved by all the people she met. Her diminutive size was completely eclipsed by her outgoing personality and sense of humor. She made many lifelong friends and she was always on the go, shopping with them, meeting for lunch, going to aerobics and boxing classes, and dancing with them. Priscilla was always happy and was a beacon of hope, laughter, and friendship and she considered her friends as family members. She prided herself on her amazing command of the English language. She could type at the speed of light, knew shorthand, and would routinely sit with her children with a Webster’s Dictionary taking turns picking out random words to learn their definitions and spelling.

Priscilla will be missed by her surviving family and many long-time friends. Her amazing smile, sense of humor, and loyalty to others made life better for the people who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Victoriano, Rosalita (Rosa), Peregrina (Nina), Lillian, Remidios (Remy), Julieta, and Rita. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William E. Frazier.She is survived by her sister, Rosalita, and her children William Frazier Jr., Brenda (Eric) LaFollette, and John Frazier (Mindy). Grandchildren, Priscilla Beckham (Cody), Zachary, Jennifer LaFollette (Shane), Benjamin, Ryan, and Brooke Eriksen. Great Grandchild, Harper Beckham, and many nieces and nephews and cousins.Priscilla spent her early years in Manila while her father worked for the Spanish Consulate. As a young adult, she moved to a small apartment in Olongapo and began working as a clerical secretary at the Subic Bay Marine Base. While working, she met and fell in love with Bill, a Marine Corps Sergeant. They were married, on May 15th, 1960, and moved back to the Kansas City area in 1961. She was a U.S. citizen and took great pride in being an American. Priscilla raised three children and dedicated many years to a career in the insurance industry before retiring.After retirement, Priscilla and Bill enjoyed traveling and spent winters in Homosassa, Florida, where she considered herself a true Floridian. While Bill was fishing in the Gulf, she spent her days line dancing with the girls. She was very passionate about dancing and she excelled at many disciplines, including salsa, ballroom, and country line dancing. She loved shopping for fancy clothes, shoes, and jewelry. Her collection of size 5 shoes and cowboy boots was probably only surpassed by Emelda Marcos! She loved dressing up and would always look amazing, even on a regular Tuesday afternoon. She loved going to the lake and spending time near the ocean.Priscilla was loved by all the people she met. Her diminutive size was completely eclipsed by her outgoing personality and sense of humor. She made many lifelong friends and she was always on the go, shopping with them, meeting for lunch, going to aerobics and boxing classes, and dancing with them. Priscilla was always happy and was a beacon of hope, laughter, and friendship and she considered her friends as family members. She prided herself on her amazing command of the English language. She could type at the speed of light, knew shorthand, and would routinely sit with her children with a Webster’s Dictionary taking turns picking out random words to learn their definitions and spelling.Priscilla will be missed by her surviving family and many long-time friends. He was born on June 13, 1950, to Richard Dean and Peggy Marie (VanBebber) Enochs in Kansas City, KS. Jack grew up in Weaubleau, MO.&nbsp; He graduated from East Buchannan High School in Gower, MO.&nbsp; Jack served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Jack loved horseback riding, fishing, hunting, gardening and playing chess, and most of all he loved his dog Pebbles.

David Keith Walters, 77, of Gower, MO passed away, October 24, 2024.

He was born on April 28, 1947 to Don and Evelyn (Crump) Walters in St. Joseph, MO. David graduated from Easton High School. He received a drafting degree from Platt College. David then served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.

David worked for Kansas City Power and Light and farmed for many years. He owned and operated D&amp;S Small Engine in Gower. David was a volunteer for the Gower Fire Department and was a bus driver for the East Buchanan School District.

David was a member of the Mt. Moriah Methodist Church near Gower, Masonic Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star. He loved to go fishing and spend time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Don and Darryl.

David is survived by his wife, Sharron of 55 years; children, Connie, Bonnie, Larry, Shawn, and Danielle; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A Private Family Service will be held at Allen Cemetery.

My Angel got her “Silver Wings” today. “Keep on Danc’n” Angel. Justina R. (Ritter) Sparks, 77, went to the open arms of God today October 20, 2024, at The Willow Home &amp; Care Facility in Wathena, Kansas, where she had been living as a resident since February of 2023.

Justina was the daughter of William and Evalena (Engeman) Ritter. She was born on May 18, 1947, in St. Joseph, Missouri and grew up in Wathena. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Thomas Ritter. She is survived by her husband Herman E. (Gene) Sparks, Merriam, Kansas and brother, Homer Ritter (Laurie) also of Merriam, Kansas.

Justina started her education at St. Joseph Catholic School and Wathena High School. She continued her education, attending Highland Community College. After Highland Community College she went to Emporia State Teachers College (as it was known at the time), where she graduated with a BS in Social Studies and Home Economics. She continued her education at K-State University where she received her master’s degree in Home Economics.

With her education completed she became a dedicated teacher in the KCK public school system, where she taught for 33 years before retiring in 2003.Justina was a victim of Alzheimer’s disease and had been fighting it since 2017. Her husband would like to thank the staff at The Willow Home &amp; Care Facility along with the attending nurses and aides from Traditions Health &amp; Hospice. Doniphan County Health and Home care was also involved in her care. Thanks to them also.

Howard Albert Smith, of Cummings, KS, died peacefully on October 26, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 83.

A service to celebrate Howard’s life will be on Friday, November 1, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Cormode officiating. Interment will follow in Sumner Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Friday at the funeral home beginning at 12:30 p.m. prior to the service. Memorials are suggested to the Cummings Christian Church in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.&nbsp;

Howard was born in Atchison, KS, on December 31, 1940, the son of Henry A. Smith and Elizabeth (Reichle) Smith. He attended rural elementary schools, graduating from Atchison County Community High School.&nbsp;

He and Mary Ellen “Judy” Oliver were united in marriage on June 24, 1962, at the Cummings Christian Church; Judy survives of the couple’s home. Howard is also survived by his son, Greg (Stacey) Smith; a sister, Marjorie Smith; and two grandchildren, Austin Smith and Lauren Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Henry “Richard” Smith, an infant daughter, Debbie Ann Smith; and a grandson, Colby Smith.&nbsp;

Howard assisted with the Walnut Township for many years with grading and tending to the roads and was on the board of RWD #6.&nbsp;

Howard worked for the Ford Plant at Claycomo for four years until he joined his father and brother full time on the farm. He loved tending to his cattle and his ground over the years and was proud to share farming with his son and grandson. Most recently, he could be found driving his ranger to make sure the guys were “doing things right” and he loved checking on his cattle. Running his dozer to fix drainage issues and improve the farm brought him great joy. He was a supportive husband, father and grandfather. His knowledge and gentle kindness will remain in his family’s hearts forever.

Ron was born July 5, 1944, in Atchison, Kansas the son of Elmer George Bahr and Mildred Rhae (McClelland) Bahr. &nbsp;He attended schools in Atchison, Kansas, graduating from Atchison High School in 1962. &nbsp;He graduated from Columbia College in Columbia, Missouri earning a Bachelor of Science degree in May 1982.

He and Rose Coke were united in marriage on June 13, 1965, at the First Christian Church in Atchison, Kansas. Rose preceded him in death on May 14, 2017.&nbsp;

Ron was employed with the Blish-Mize Company from October 1963 until November 1988, he then served with the Kansas Army National Guard in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas from November 1988 until April 1990. From April 1990 until April 2010, he served with various Department of Defense Contractors at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. &nbsp;He served with the Kansas Army National Guard from August 27, 1961, until his discharge on July 31, 2004, as a Command Sergeant Major.

He was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. Ron was a member of Fleming-Jackson-Seever Post #6 of the American Legion, Field Artillery Honorable Order of St. Barbara from December 1992 and Field Artillery Ancient Order of St. Barbara from December 2, 2006. He enjoyed spending time with family and his granddaughters.

Ron is survived by a son, Dennis D. Bahr and wife Trisha; daughter-in-law, Kara Bahr; four granddaughters, Kiersten, daughter of David and Kara; Maddison, Kinley and Hallee, daughters of Dennis and Trisha; a sister, Linda K. Turnbull and nephews, Eric and Michael Zwonitzer.

Charles Dale Polsgrove, 96, of Amazonia, MO passed away on Friday, October 25th, 2024 at St. Joseph Manor in St. Joseph, MO. He was born October 27, 1927 in Fillmore, MO to William &amp; Beulah Beatrice (Alexander) Polsgrove. He married Opal Mary (Wiltz) in Oregon, MO on April 17th, 1949 and she preceded him in death in 2008.

Also preceding him in death were his daughter, Lori Polsgrove, grandson, Brandon Polsgrove, his parents, brothers, Raymond and Roscoe “Jack” Polsgrove, and sister, Wilma Beattie.

Florence L. McClanahan 77, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2024 in Lexington, South Carolina. She was born May 8, 1947 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of the late Florabell and John Bethel. 

She graduated from Benton High School, and received her Bachelor of Science Degree from University of Maryland in Ramstein Germany, her Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management from Saint Leo University Sumter, South Carolina. She married David "Mark" McClanahan on December 1, 1967, and he passed away on February 25, 2015. She worked for the Social Security Administration as a case manager in Kansas City, and retired after 20 years of service. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family, and she was a member of the Faucett Christian Church. 

Florence was preceded in death by husband, Mark McClanahan, her parents, daughter, Tamra Trahan, grandchild, Liam Coleman, siblings: Charles Bethel, Erma McIntosh, and Helen Sisk. 

Survivors include: her sister, Fannie Bottorff, followed by son, David and wife Lisa McClanahan, of West Columbia, South Carolina; daughter, Shenna Coleman of Liberty, Missouri; grandchildren, Shelby, Clayton, Damien, Darian “Andy,” Cameron, and Masyn.

Brian Keith Nolan, a beloved soul at the age of 65, left this world on Friday, October 25, 2024 in the heart of St. Joseph, Missouri. Born on August 26, 1959 in Madera, California, he was the cherished son of the late Joan and James Nolan. Brian's journey through life was marked by academic achievement as he proudly graduated from Mid Nazarene College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree.

On January 27, 1984, he embarked on the beautiful journey of marriage with his beloved Bettye, who stands strong in her love as she remembers their years together. Brian dedicated his career to serving others, managing at Dollar General, and supporting his community during his time at Sam’s Club. In his earlier years, he roamed the open roads as a truck driver, embracing the freedom of the highway.

Brian's heart beat for music; he found solace in the strum of guitar strings, and joy in watching his favorite movies and TV shows. A true aficionado of professional wrestling, he cheered passionately from his living room as his heroes fought for glory. His love for sports burned brightly, with the San Francisco 49ers and the Giants holding a special place in his heart. A relentless reader and the family's self-proclaimed genealogist, Brian was a wellspring of knowledge and adventure, always eager to share and explore the wonders of the world.

He cherished every moment spent with his family, their laughter echoing through the halls of their home, and he found immense joy in listening to podcasts that sparked his curiosity. Terry Beth Swartz, 62, of St. Joseph, MO, met her savior, Jesus Christ, on October 26, 2024. She passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, after a short hard-fought battle with cancer.&nbsp;She was born on January 22, 1962, to Johnny and Margaret “Charlene” Swartz. 

She was the youngest of four. Terry was a Benton High School graduate, class of 1980. She was a social butterfly and knew no stranger. You could often find her at any ball park or dance recital, from here to Kansas City, cheering on her grandchildren-they were her absolute pride and joy. “Grandma T” always showed up, always had snacks, and always spoiled them! Terry devoted her life to Jesus Christ and was baptized on May 20, 2023, at Renovation Church, where she was an active member. She was strong in her faith. Her love for everyone she knew will be greatly missed.

Terry is preceded in death by her father, Johnny Swartz; sister and brother-in-law Charlotte and Denny Rhodes; paternal grandparents John and Helen Swartz; maternal grandparents Charles and Nellie Travis; and her grandpuppy, Dexter.

Survivors include two sisters, Glenda Furlong, Tina Rusher, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Harold M. Bradley, 84, Savannah, Missouri; passed away on October 24, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.

Harold was born on June 28, 1940 in St. Joseph, Missouri; to the late George and Flossie (Marcum) Bradley. He was a 1958 graduate of Savannah High School and studied Ornithology at the University of Missouri.

Mr. Bradley proudly served his country in the Army Reserves for 6 years, achieving the rank of Sergeant.

Harold followed in the family business and was a second-generation concrete finisher for Bradley Concrete. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;

Harold was a member of First Christian Church and was a friend of Bill W. for 40 years. He was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, bird watching, gardening and could always be found working on the farm. He especially looked forward to taking his grandkids hunting and on trips to Great Wolfe Lodge, Jefferson City and Squaw Creek. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;

Harold married Carol Roberts on December 4, 1964; they were looking forward to celebrating their upcoming 60th Anniversary. She survives him of the home.

Katharine Riley Temps, 87, passed away on Tuesday, October 22nd, 2024 at Field Pointe Assisted Living in St. Joseph, Missouri. Katharine was born on February 12th, 1937 in Wichita, Kansas to Helen (Becker) and James F. Riley. Katharine lived in St. Joseph, Missouri for the past 57 years.

Katharine was a graduate of Central High School, Class of 1955, where she met Leo H. Temps. They married in 1956. Katharine worked alongside her husband at All American Rentals until retiring in 1985. After retirement she loved to volunteer for the following organizations for many years: Heartland Hospital, Mosaic Hospice, Meals on Wheels Delivery, Christ Church Altar Guild, and the St. Joseph Museum. She also belonged to Junior League of St. Joseph and PEO Chapter-BP.

Katharine was preceded in death by her parents Helen and James Riley, husband Leo Temps. She is survived by her two daughters Kimberly Engel of O'Fallon, Mo., and Lori T. Murphy of Oklahoma City, Ok., 5 Grandchildren, and 5 Great Grandchildren. She is survived by a brother, James F. Riley, Jr. of Christchurch, New Zealand. Additional survivors include dear friends: Nancy Siemens and Sandra Hamilton. &nbsp;
