Alice Andresen, the heart of our family, passed peacefully at Benedictine Living Community on October 31, 2024. She lived 90 rewarding years.

Born on November 24, 1933 to Anton Elbracht and Sophie (Ridder) Elbracht in Howells, Nebraska, Alice was the fifth of ten children in a bustling farm family. The Great Depression had a lasting yet positive impact on Alice, in that she learned to make do with little and make fun out of almost anything. As a child she played with her five sisters, three (surviving) brothers and many cousins who lived on a neighboring farm. It was an upbringing built on a foundation of family and faith, as well as shared work and play. As a teen she served as an officer in Rural Youth and particularly loved the local dances, later fondly recalling, "I polkaed clear across Colfax County."

Alice met her best friend and the love of her life, Bill Andresen, in Lincoln, Nebraska. She and Bill were married on December 28, 1960. His research with the National Institute of Health took them far from their small Nebraska hometowns to Washington, DC, where their first three children, Christine, Tom and Theresa, were born. Returning to Lincoln NE, daughter Kate arrived, completing the family. In 1970 they settled in St Joseph, Missouri. Alice was active in many roles in Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, including service as a Eucharistic minister, on the Altar Society and in the Food Pantry. As a busy wife, mother and homemaker, Alice sewed clothes, raised vegetables and was a wonderful baker - her cinnamon rolls and chocolate chip cookies in particular were family favorites. Her love of children extended beyond her own as she worked at Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church Day Care and taught for Head Start. Eventually she had six grandchildren to love and teach. She and Bill travelled in their later years but in her heart, Alice was a homebody. She was happiest sharing a cup of coffee with Bill on their back patio or laughing in a kitchen filled with family. Our memories of her will always be a blessing.

Alice is preceded in death by her parents, Sophie and Anton Elbracht; brothers Aloysius, Hank, Hermy and Ted; sisters Mary Elbracht and Fran Osbon; brothers-in-law Don Osbon, Duane Kantor and Art Renner; sister-in-law Carol Elbracht, niece Teri Osbon-Kitzelman and son-in-law, Larry Davis. She is survived by her husband, Bill; children Christine Andresen, Tom (Lisa) Andresen, Theresa (Scott) Greiner and Kate (Frank Underwood) Davis; grandchildren Clif (Mariah) Davis, Corinne, Hayden and Adam Andresen, Ashlee Greiner and Tiffani Higgins; sisters Flory Renner, Wilma Kantor and Jean (Rich) Sellhorst; sister-in-law Carol Elbracht, ten great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Christopher “Bear” Crossfield, 51, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2024.

He was born July 11, 1973 in St. Joseph to Rickey and Ruth “Cookie” (Barron) Crossfield. He grew up in St. Joseph and attended Central High School, where he was a wrestler.

Bear earned his nickname at a young age, due to his big brown eyes and incredible strength as a child.

Bear married the love of his life Heather Marriott on July 10, 1999. She survives of the home.

He worked at Al J. Mueller Construction for 20-plus years as a leadman. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and the accompanying smell of cedar.

Bear was ornery as hell and known for continuously pranking his family. Some of his more epic stunts, many involving fireworks, remain part of family lore.

Most of all, he loved hanging out with friends and family. He was a tough guy with a gentle heart who would help anyone who needed it.

He was preceded in death by stepfather, Rick Moore, Sr; father-in-law, Kenneth Marriott; sister, infant Dawn Marie Crossfield; great-grandmother, Carlota Herrera; great aunts, Josie H. Christopher "Bear" Crossfield 1973 - 2024

James “Eldon” Jones, known to all as Eldon, died and went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 1, 2024, at the age of 99. He was born to William (Bill) and Melissa Mae (Lissie) Dugger Jones in Tinsley, Kentucky on October 28, 1925. 

He was one of four children. His siblings were Virginia (Joe) Logan, Bob (Maxine) Jones, and Barbara (Carlos) Hundley. &nbsp;Eldon grew up in Loyall, Kentucky and left at the age of eighteen to serve in the US Navy during WWII from February 1944 and honorably discharged in May 1946. He served as an Electrician’s Mate, Third Class as well as a volunteer chaplain on board ship. He earned these honors: American Area Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Area Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, One Star, and the WW II Victory Ribbon. After discharge from the United States Navy, Eldon graduated from Georgetown College and then graduated from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky in 1953. He married Emma Marie Greene of Barbourville, KY on December 21, 1946, and had three daughters. Eldon and Marie were married 75 years before her passing in March 2022.

Reverand Eldon Jones pastored churches in Alabama and Kentucky. Then he served as a Superintendent of Missions in Bell County, Kentucky and as Area Director of Missions in SE Indiana. Rev. Jones moved to Liverpool, NY where he served as Director of Missions for the Southern Baptist Central Association in New York State. In 1974 he moved to Kansas City, MO to serve as Church Extension Director for the SBC and served in fourteen states supporting pastors. He interim-pastored numerous churches in KCMO and Laramie, WY and assisted his son-in-law in associational missions in Cheyenne. He fully retired from ministry in 2013 after 67 years of faithful service. Eldon enjoyed doing electrical and mechanical work in the home and was a small plane pilot, using a Cessna 150 in his work travels. Eldon and Marie enjoyed traveling in almost all fifty states.

He is survived by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his brother Bob (Maxine) Jones. His children are Sandra Gay Jones of Chapman, KS, Brenda Sue Elsbury (David) of Hiawatha, KS, and Janice Marie Porter, (Mark) of Muldrow, OK. He has six grandchildren Kathleen Loetscher (Luke), Daniel Porter, Kinderly Cluff (Kris), Jessica Henks (Brian), Jennifer Kneisel (Jarred), and Jeffrey Elsbury (Amanda) and eight great grandchildren. &nbsp;

Memorial service will be held 5:00 PM Saturday, November 9th at First Baptist Church, Hiawatha, Kansas with visitation at 4:30 PM. A memorial service will also be held in Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to The Gideons International, USA in care of Chapel Oaks Funeral Home.

Military honors will be a courtesy of the Brown County Veterans Honor Guard.

Shirley Ann (Gore) Ernzen, 88, passed away October 31, 2024, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Mass of Christian burial will be on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church with Rev. Luke Turner, OSB as celebrant. A rosary will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, with visitation to follow until time of the mass at the church. She will be laid to rest in the St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Memorials may be left to the St. Patrick’s Cemetery in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with whom funeral care has been entrusted.&nbsp;

Shirley was born on January 4, 1936, to Mitchell and Evelyn (Nottingham) Gore, in Flora, Illinois. She grew up in Monrovia, Kansas, where her parents had a small grocery store that Shirley worked in from age 8-16 and found out she loved candy! She attended ACCHS and began her college education at Washburn, which she continued at Mount St. Scholastica until she married Daniel Thomas Ernzen on June 7, 1954, at St. Patrick’s Church. They made their home in the little village of Potter, Kansas, where they raised their four children: Debra, Yvonne, Suzanne and Michael.

Shirley was very active in her children’s lives, guiding them and loving them and continued her college education while raising her four children. During their marriage, Shirley and Dan farmed together, and also had their own private business ventures, which included Avon, Amway and World Book. After her children were grown, she was employed at Benedictine College in Student Aid, the United States Department of Immigration and assisting prisoners with Congressional Inquiries at the United States Disciplinary Barracks in Fort Leavenworth. Shirley also obtained her real estate license and sold real estate for several years. In 2003, she fulfilled her dream of opening The Rose Cottage on the farm and also assisted her son Michael in his car dealership.

Shirley was an avid reader and kept herself informed on many topics, with a special emphasis in global affairs. Even though her eyesight waned in her later years, she stayed abreast of politics and our world. Shirley enjoyed all music, but in her later years her affinity went to Dean Martin because he reminded her of her Dan. Shirley was very famous for not following the rules when playing competitive games with her family, which kept everyone thoroughly entertained. The Save the Children campaign was very near and dear to her heart.

She is survived by her son, Michael Ernzen, of the home; her three daughters and their husbands: Debra and John Forbes, Atchison, KS; Yvonne Ernzen and Timothy Arehart, Olathe, KS; and Suzanne and Kevin Doehring, Liberty, MO.

She is also survived by nine grandchildren and their spouses: Nicole Forbes and Nick Hamill; Joseph Forbes; Daniel Forbes; Zachary Arehart; Natalie Arehart and Brad Mawyer; Grace Arehart and Conner Jonson; BreeAnne Doehring and Andy Fu; Brenna Doehring Wade and Taylor Wade; and Elijah Ernzen. Shirley continued to be blessed and had five great grandchildren: Hazel Hamill (5), Felix Fu (1), Colin Hamill (1), Hattie Arehart-Mawyer (1) and Baby Delilah Wade, seven months. Shirley is also survived by her favorite sister, Virginia Blackman, Klamath, Falls, OR.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Daniel on August 8, 1993, her loving parents Mitchell and Evelyn Gore and her other favorite sister, Mary Jane Ellerman.

Shirley was extremely grateful for the care she received from her family and Amberwell Hospice Care.

Shirley Ann Ernzen 1936 - 2024

Shannon Nicole Ellis, 37, of St. Joseph, MO went to be with her Lord on Friday, November 1st, 2024. She was born November 5th, 1986 to Marion and Diana (Black) Boyles. She married Holt Ellis in Cosby, MO on May 28th, 2011 and he survives of the home.

Shannon was baptized into Christ on July 19th, 1998 and received first communion on April 8th, 2023 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Mound City, MO. She was a devout Lutheran and servant of Christ. She modeled a servant’s life by homeschooling her children and making a home for her family. She sacrificed much time and energy to ensure they were cared for.

Survivors include her mother, Diana Boyles of Savannah; husband, Holt Ellis of St. Joseph; children, Liam Ellis and Annabelle Ellis both of the home; siblings, Jim (Becky) Boyles of St. Joseph, Jason (Meagan) Boyles of Lenexa, KS; with numerous family and friends.

She was a devout Lutheran and servant of Christ. She modeled a servant’s life by homeschooling her children and making a home for her family. Jimmie Morris Collins, 82, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Thursday, October 31, 2024 in a Kansas City, MO. hospital. He was born January 6, 1942 in Maryillle, MO, son of the late Virginia and Herschel Collins. 

He served in the United States Army. Jimmie was an Auto Mechanic working for John Collins repair, as well as other area shops. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, tinkering on his tractors, telling jokes, and going to Betty's cafe. He was a member of VFW post 6760. 

Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Douglas Crisp, brothers, Albert, Don "Bob", Karl, Bill, and Dick Collins, and his sister, Virginia Piveral.

He attended DeKalb High School, and then met his wife, Sonja in 1994, and she survives of the home. He was the owner operator of Todd Servaes Construction Company. Todd enjoyed traveling, listening to 80's rock music, camping, and spending time outdoors. He loved life and making people laugh, and was the star of his family’s shows. 

Todd was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother. 

Survivors include: wife, Sonja Servaes of the home, daughter, Cheyanne Servaes, and son, Colton Servaes both of Rushville, MO, three grandchildren: Ashtyn Nowak, Jameson Servaes, and Macie Servaes, 4 brothers, 3 sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was born in St. Joseph, Missouri. Melvin graduated from Central High School. &nbsp;

He was a proud Navy Veteran, receiving several merits over his enlistment. Melvin was a typesetter printer for the News Press and Gazette for 40 years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Melvin enjoyed fishing, hunting, bird watching, playing guitar and spending time with his family.

In his younger years he enjoyed art by sketching animals. &nbsp;He attended Claire United Methodist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents and nine siblings.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Merelyn; daughters Mary Kay DeShon (Rex), Linda Kafka (Vince); son Gary Sale (Jenny); along with eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Glenn was a beloved husband, father, and friend who lived a life dedicated to faith, family, and integrity. He began his career at the age of 17; enlisting in the United States Navy and served his country for 20 years as a Navy Corpman.

He had a passion for life that showed in his many interests. He was an avid golfer, a skilled bowler, and a joyful karaoke singer. A true car enthusiast, mechanic and wheeler-dealer. Known for being “handy as a pocket on a shirt,” he could fix just about anything, and his incredible skills were a gift to all who knew him.

He also enjoyed card games with family and friends. His strong principles were evident in his daily life. He showed deep love and devotion to his family. He will be remembered for his kindness, honesty, and the legacy of love he leaves behind.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his twin brother Kenn; three sisters and three brothers.

He is survived by his lovely wife, Patty Taylor; his children, Robert, Richard/Amy, Roger, Noel, Seth, Angela, Tomi and Charles; as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was born July 11, 1927 to Thomas and Jennie (Bockiere) Musso in Kansas City, Missouri.

Betty married O.A. “Speck” Specker on June 9, 1984.

Educated at Cornell College, Betty's intellectual curiosity and drive for excellence set the framework for a remarkable career in agrimarketing. Her professional journey at Fletcher/Mayo/Associates showcased her talents, leading her to the position of Director of Agricom. Her entrepreneurial spirit later enabled her to become the owner of Agricom Inc., further solidifying her impact on the industry.

Betty was deeply involved in numerous social and community organizations, making a difference in every role she undertook. As an Emeritus Member of the Junior League and the President of the Missouri Methodist Hospital Women's Association, she demonstrated her leadership and compassion. Her dedication to service was evident through her time as a high volunteer with the United Fund, a Gray Lady with the Red Cross, a United Fund Colonel, the Second Vice President for Carder Hall Nurses, the Treasurer of the Saint Joseph Study Club, and the Director of Military Services. Betty's love for her community shone brightly in her position as President of the Mo/Kan Agri-Marketing Association and as a valued member of the Runcie Club.

Betty's unwavering faith was reflected in her longstanding membership with the First Presbyterian Church. Her affinity for animals further highlighted her gentle and loving spirit.

Joyce L. DeVader, 82, of Holton, went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at her home with her granddaughter, Brandy. &nbsp;

She was born on May 15, 1942 in Burlingame, KS, later moving to Holton KS. She is the daughter of William and Helen Edwards Barton.

She married Richard “Dick” DeVader on December 29, 1956 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Holton. He preceded her in death on June 9, 2019.

Joyce had lived in Holton for most of her life. She had been co-owner of Dick’s Service in Holton from 1977 to 1993, later staying home and helping Dick on the farm. Earlier in life she had worked at Slimaker Dress Factory for fifteen years.

Joyce was known for her smile and her infectious laugh. She loved butterflies and flowers, and she had the most caring heart. She loved to bake and share her creations with everyone (especially at Christmas).

Joyce was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Katherine Rose DeVader, who died in infancy, and a brother, Edward Barton.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda Reino (Tim), Holton, Barbara Kathrens (Ed), Circleville, and Thelma Jean Wilson (Jeff), Mayetta, a brother, Robert “Bob” Barton, Carbondale, a sister, Janice Brenner, Osage City, seven grandchildren, Stephanie Krebs (Preston), Brandy Stephenson, Dawn Henry (Nathan), Amanda Brown (Bryon), Edward “Dub” Kathrens (Ashton), Todd Wilson (Alison), and Jeremy Wilson (Nicole), and numerous great grandchildren.

Cheryl Ann (Kneale) Manville, 77, of Edgerton, MO passed away October 30, 2024.

She was born to James F. and Vivian I. (Lance) Kneale May 20, 1947, in St. Joseph, MO. Cheryl graduated from Lafayette High School in 1965. She later attended Gard Business University in St. Joseph and worked for the News Press and Gazette in the dispatch department. She married Larry Manville in 1966 and together had six children. They later divorced.

Cheryl’s first love was serving God through her music and the love she had for her children and grandchildren. She started playing organ and piano for church when she was 13 years old and started singing for church in her late teens and continued for many years.

She began her career of accompanying choirs and soloists and continued for 20 years. Being a stay-at-home mom, she began giving private piano lessons in 1986 and always cherished interaction with her students. She also enjoyed cooking, embroidery, quilting, crocheting, and visiting with family and friends. Cheryl also enjoyed growing flowers, gardening, and loved watching football.

In 1994, Cheryl’s new life began when she found salvation through Christ. She faithfully served Him and made Frazier Baptist Church her home. Her home now is with Jesus in heaven, praising Him through music.

She was preceded in death by her parents James and Vivian Kneale and her sister-in-law Jane Kneale.

Cheryl is survived by her children Mark (Kathy) Manville, Steve (Tami) Manville, Gary (Angie) Manville, Natalie (Steve) Mummert, Jenny (Vance) Minor, and Chuck (Telena) Manville; 15 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; her brother Michael Kneale; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Sister Mary Ellen (Savio) Auffert, 90, a Benedictine sister of Mount St. Scholastica, Atchison, Kans., died Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2024. The vigil service will be Sunday, November 3, at 7 p.m. in the monastery chapel, and the Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated there Monday, November 4, at 10:30 a.m.

Sister Mary Ellen was born on March 21, 1934, in Parnell, Missouri, one of four children and only daughter of John and Rachel Hovenkotter Auffert. She entered the Benedictine Sisters in Atchison in 1954, and taught elementary grades for 13 years. She earned a degree in elementary education from Mount St. Scholastica College in 1964. She became a missionary in Mineiros, Goias, Brazil, and did pastoral and catechetical ministry there from 1967-1975. After she returned to Atchison, she did library work and campus ministry at Benedictine College, and food service at the monastery. Sister Mary Ellen returned to Brazil in 1983 and helped with hospital and bookstore ministry for three years. She returned to care for her parents, and later did pro-life ministry and founded Pro-Life Religious International to give aid to those working in pro-life activities. She also did pastoral ministry in Seneca, Kan., for a period before becoming principal of the elementary school in Tecumseh, Neb., in 2004. In all, she was blessed with nearly seventy years of devoted monastic profession.

Sharon Moutray, 81, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. She was born on June 20, 1943 to John B. and Roberta M. (Lynch) Warden in Grant City, Missouri.

Her marriage to Ronald Lee Moutray on August 24, 1962, was the start of an enduring partnership that would last 62 years. Together, they created a legacy of love and family that includes their children, Ronald Moutray, Jr. (Beth), and Tiffany Garrett (Paul); grandchildren, Austin Moutray (Tiffani), Sarah Morrison (Jordan), Josiah Moutray (Katelyn); and great-grandchildren, Ava Moutray, Hudson Moutray, Jacquelyn Morrison, and Shepherd Morrison. She is also survived by her siblings, John Warden (Joyce), Shirley Herner (Larry), and Wanda Weston (Larry), along with sisters-in-law, Judy and Betty Moutray.

Sharon was a woman of education and purpose, graduating from Lafayette High School and Plat-Gard Business School. Her career began as a dedicated secretary at Brown, Douglas, and Brown, before she embraced the role of a homemaker, supporting and nourishing her growing family with her loving hands and kind heart.

Sharon's life was a reflection of her unwavering faith and commitment to her church. As a member of Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church and the Women's Missionary Society, her spiritual devotion was evident. She taught Sunday School and lived out her faith through selfless service and kindness.

Sharon’s love for cooking created countless cherished memories with family and friends. Her kitchen was often filled with laughter and the aroma of delicious meals that brought comfort and joy to many. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Kathy Hunter, 66, Grant City, Missouri, passed away Friday, October 25, 2024.

She was born October 13, 1958 in Hamburg, Iowa, to Dale and Ruby (Lock) Schramm.

Kathy married Jerry Ziolkowski. He preceded her in death on April 29, 1989. She married Matthew Hunter on June 9, 1990. They later divorced but remained friends.

She held many construction jobs during her life, but her passion went into her favorite job of cooking for a restaurant/bar &amp; grill.

Kathy enjoyed mushroom hunting, and playing shuffleboard, pool and 4-point pitch. She also loved to watch her sons play baseball.

She loved her family dearly, especially her grandkids. She was outgoing, ornery, and honest, known for her heart of gold with a lot of spice. She leaves a legacy of her love and spirit for everyone who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Dale Schramm; daughter, Brandy Lynn Ziolkowski; and siblings, Ruby Wardlow, Rose Van, and Lora Ordnez; and her first husband, Jerry Ziolkowski.

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of beloved Leona May Wright. Leona was born May 27, 1943 in Tracy Missouri to father William Pace and mother Florence Mable Tate. 

Leona grew up in Tracy Missouri. She moved away from Tracy at age 18 and moved to Parkville Missouri. Where she lived and gave birth to her 4 children who she loved dearly. She then soon after moved to Archie Missouri and met Billy Wright, who married in 1981 at a small courthouse ceremony. They then moved to Northern Kansas City Missouri and lived where they shared their life for 25 years while also raising their youngest daughter. Leona and her husband frequented and lived briefly in Warsaw Missouri and enjoyed trips to Las Vegas Nevada. 

In her free time Leona enjoyed sewing, crosswords and puzzles. Leona loved raising children and loved being a wife, mother and home maker and driving her school bus. In her spare time she would frequently visit family or the casino. Leona leaves a lasting impact on so many lives and would never shy away from speaking her mind if she felt the need. She loved to laugh and lit up a room with her smile.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Florence. Also by her siblings, Everett, David, Donald, Bill, John, and Delvena. She is also preceded by her son, Donald Wayne and her husband Billy.

Leona sadly leaves behind many beloved family members. Among them are her children, Mary Pace, Robert Daniels (wife Eileen), Alberta Archer (husband Steve), Andrew Daniels (wife Twanna), and Kristina Mills (husband Shane). She also leaves behind grandchildren, David Brown, Stacy Hoppert, Heather Motta, Mercedes Daniels, Joseph Wright, Florence Vega, Keona Wright, Tyler Wright, Nicholas Mills, and Mishayla Mills. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. For Leona her huge family was everything.

Theodore “Ted” George Lemon 85, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, October 23rd, 2024 at his home. He was born January 9th, 1939 in Lenora, Kansas to Arminda “Peggy” and Robert “Linn” Lemon. 

He graduated from Norton Community High School in Norton, KS. Ted worked as an Allstate Insurance Agent, and was co-owner of Sea Jay Boats. He retired as an autobody instructor at Hillyard Technical School. Ted was very artistic and creative. Everything he worked on was treated as a piece of art, including his autobody work, artistic sketches, poems he created, and even his own headstone. He loved spending time boating on the river, attending air shows, flying his airplane, riding his motorcycle, and taking care of the ones he loved. He had an adventurous spirit and was a big kid at heart.&nbsp;

Ted was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved companion of 50 years, Phyllis Thuman; daughter, Michelle Forsman; brothers, Robert Lemon, Richard Lemon, and Ronald Lemon; sister, Kathleen Hiner; and son, Rolland Thuman Jr.&nbsp;

Survivors include his sisters, Peggy Colleen Closé and Tamara “Tami” Dawn Closé (Jon) McCain; daughter, Carole (Ron) Thomsen; grandchildren, Kim (Ken) Thomsen, Evin (Jackie) Thuman, Becky Dawson, Brien Dawson, and Halli (Steven) Drake; great-grandchildren, Michael Thomsen, Kristen (Ian) Vice, and Kyler Dawson; great-great-grandchildren, Lillyan Thomsen, Kenneth Thomsen, and Emery Vice; and numerous nieces, nephews, and life-long friends.

He was born July 19, 1926 to the late Burt and Bessie (Griffin) Harris in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Robert married Charlene Silvey on August 27, 1955. She preceded him in death on January 6, 2020.

He worked for Iowa Missouri Walnut Company and retired after 45 years.

Robert was a member of Midwest Camping Club and Paul’s RV Camping Club.

He was an avid trout fisherman. He also enjoyed eating at Betty’s Café and making walnut furniture.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years; children, Robert Lee Harris, Jr., June Craig, and Denise Harris.

Survivors include his children, Deborah Worley (Robert), Randy Harris, and Sharon Brown; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Robert "Red" L. Harris, Sr. 1926 - 2024

Kenneth M. “Ken” Fansher was born in Forbes, Missouri on February 20, 1941. He was the fourth of nine children of Samuel L. and Pearl G. (Noble) Fansher. Ken attended school at the Oak Grove School before graduating from Oregon High School. He then attended Maryville State Teacher’s College. In November of 1962 Ken enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served until March of 1966. &nbsp;

Ken became the father of two children, Brian and Tabbi. He retired as a production manager from Nestle Purina Pet Care in St. Joseph where he worked for many years.&nbsp;

Ken passed away at his home on Monday, October 28, 2024 at the age of 83.&nbsp;

Survivors include his children, Brian (Samantha) Fansher and Tabbi Fansher (Adam); six grandchildren, Hannah (Tyler) Vergith, Hayley Fansher, Brooke Reyer, Katie Fansher, Sebastian Fansher, and Harlea Fansher; three great grandchildren, Alaina, Aleeah and Addy Vergith; brothers, Eldon, Paul, and Jay Fansher; sisters, Linda Heckman and Sue Meade; Ken’s companion of 34 years, Dee Butler; her four children, Danny Blanton, Tammy Brunner, Dusty (Tonya) Butler, and Tina Butler; her grandchildren, Missy Blanton, Andi (Travis) Young, Dakota Butler and Darcey Butler; and her great grandchildren, Jaylee Blanton, Jerzey Ziolkowski, Paiten, Parker and Geo Young, Kamden Turner, and Rickie Goddard.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Eddie; brother, Larry; sister, Dorothy; Dee’s daughter-in-law, Brenda Blanton, and son-in-law, David Brunner.

Ken loved being outdoors, fishing and hunting deer, turkey and squirrel. He especially enjoyed sharing those times with his children and grandchildren, teaching them about nature. He also enjoyed working with horses and mules.

Billie Gretchen Jasper, 84, of Atchison, KS, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at the Overland Park Medical Center. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, October 31, 2024, at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, with Rev. Tony Carter, Jr. officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at the funeral home. Gretchen was born on May 26, 1940, in St. Joseph, MO, the daughter of Raymond Carl “Bill” and Marjorie Marie (Lance) Gillispie. After her mother’s death, Gretchen and her siblings moved to Atchison and was raised by her maternal grandparents, Raymond and Bertha Lance. She was a homemaker and was an amazing caregiver to numerous children who were entrusted in her care while their parents worked. Gretchen was a member of the First Christian Church. She enjoyed watching the KC Chiefs, KC Royals and the Nebraska Corn Huskers. Gretchen loved attending the sporting activities of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Gretchen married Charles Merle “Jack” Jasper on October 24, 1957, he preceded her in death on July 23, 2009. A brother, Donald Gillispie also preceded her in death. Survivors include daughters, Donna Jasper, Kansas City, MO; Jackie Jasper, Atchison, KS; Michelle Streeter, Atchison, KS; a brother, Gene Gillispie, Lincoln, NE; a sister, Lynn Keimig, Atchison, KS; two granddaughters, Ashley (Matt) Stout; Hilary Jasper, six great grandchildren Mackenzie Page, Mackena Thompson, Deacon Stout, Kamren Thompson, Madalynn Stout, and Blake Stout and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gretchen Jasper 1940 - 2024

David F. Brunner, 59, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Saturday, October 26, 2024 at his home. He was born September 15, 1965 in St. Joseph, son of Sarah and Jack Brunner. 

Dave graduated from Chillicothe High School, class of 1983. He married Tammy Blanton on August 17, 1991 in St. Joseph. Dave worked at Boehringer Ingelheim, where he was a Packaging Process Improvement Specialist. He was noted by his co-workers for being a continuous improvement expert with an exceptional eye for detail and creativity. Dave loved being outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was an avid archery hunter, but when it came to rifle hunting, he was known as "Two Shot." He was a friend to many, an excellent leader and wonderful mentor. Dave had a way of making people smile and always had contagious positive energy. He was a proud father of his kids, a fun "Uncle Dave" and the best "Papa." Dave was also a proud member of the Tennessee Squire Club. 

Survivors include wife, Tammy Brunner of the home, children, Quinton Brunner (Nicole Greer) of Lenexa, KS, Cameron (Sarai) Brunner of Kansas City, MO, and Melissa Blanton (Jason Claycomb) of St. Joseph, his siblings, Belinda (Steve) Dominique of Excelsior Springs, MO, Mike Brunner (Lynn Smolich) of Lee’s Summit, MO, Tamie (John) Quigley of Eldon, MO, and Jackie Hutchinson, grandchildren, Jaylee, Macy, Jerzey, Triston, Annabelle, Ezekiel, Henry, and Uriah, numerous nieces and nephews, and his group of several close "Buddies", especially his brother-in-law, Dusty Butler.

Mr. Brunner has been cremated under the care of Rupp Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at later date.

David Floyd Brunner 1965 - 2024

Dr. Theodore (Ted) Roosevelt Jamison, Jr. was born in Saint Joseph, Missouri May 29th, 1933 and entered the Lords paradise October 22, 2024. He married his faithful wife Judith Darlene Dausel, April 29, 1961 at Sioux City, Iowa. His parents, Ted and Violet Jamison were well known citizens of Saint Joseph in the early decades of the twentieth century. Ted Sr. was a Rocky Mountain Middleweight Champion prizefighter while working at the Drag X Ranch in Colorado and contended more fights when relocating to Saint Joseph, Missouri. He served Saint Joseph as City Councilman in the 1940’s and worked at the Anchor Serum Company for twenty years as plant superintendent until 1947. Violet Jamison received her teaching certificate from Northwest Missouri State College and rode her horse every day to teach her students in a rural country school, played the piano at the silent movie theater, and became Grand Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Dr. Ted Jamison first attended Hall and Bliss Public Schools in Saint Joseph and graduated high school from the Wentworth Military Academy in 1951. He enlisted in the United States Air Force serving as a bomb loader during the Korean War in 1952. Following his separation from service, he worked for Philips Roxane as a salesman for veterinary pharmaceuticals. He attended Northwest Missouri State College and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History in 1964 while his wife supported him as Secretary to the Dean of Men. His beloved Judi remained at his side while he pursued a Masters of Arts Degree in European History at Wichita State University. He began his college teaching career in 1966. Dr. Jamison received a full fellowship from Texas Christian University to complete his Ph.D. in British History in 1972. Three years later, he published his doctoral dissertation on the restoration of King Charles II in 1660. In 1977, he proudly accepted a direct commission and appointment of Major in the United States Army as Adjutant to the General.

While in Italy Dr. and Mrs. Jamison had an audience with Pope John VI at his summer residence Papal Palace Castel Gandolfo. He also taught at San Antonio College, Southwest Texas State University, University of Nebraska at Omaha, Bellevue University, and Del Mar College. For nearly ten years of his professional career, he was historian for the Strategic Air Command at Offutt Air Force Base at Omaha, Nebraska where he wrote additional publications about Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Dr. Jamison also published several scholarly articles regarding the Korean War and wrote a biography of the poet and World War I soldier, Sgt. Joyce Kilmer who wrote the well known poem “Trees”.He followed in his father’s footsteps after returning to Saint Joseph in 2001 through his activities in city politics, and was noteworthy and successful in assisting Mayor Ken Shearin to office in 2006. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Moila, Military Officers Association of America, Missouri Masonic High Twelve, American Legion, American Aviation Historical Society, The Vice Presidents Club, Blue Key National Honor Society, and Phi Alpha Theta National History Honor Society.Dr. and Mrs. Jamison were avid anglers for fresh water bass and crappie in the local lakes, farm ponds and river catfish. He and his wife Judi loved deep sea fishing in the Gulf of Mexico catching kingfish, snapper, red fish, speckled trout, sheepshead, and flounder and always enjoyed eating their catch. They also hunted deer in Wyoming and Utah and caught trout in the mountain streams.Dr. Jamison was preceded in death by his parents Ted and Violet Jamison and his sister, Nancy Monachino. Surviving members of his family include: wife Judith Jamison, son Christopher Jamison (Nicole), and daughter Heidi Dennis (Jonathon). Grandchildren: Marty (Katie), Amethyst (John), and MacKenzie Jamison; Aaron, Cameron (Shania), Brandon (Rhiannon), and Tristan Rayevich (Chloe); great-grandson Oliver Jamison and great-granddaughter Evie Rayevich.Instead of flowers please give a contribution to Saint Jude Children’s Cancer Research Hospital, the Shriner’s Hospital for Children or local food pantry.Farewell Services and Public Livestream 1:00 P.M.
