Irene F. Becker, 93, of rural Robinson, passed away October 30, 2025.

She was born at Effingham, Kansas, June 22, 1932, one of four children born to Ernest and Margaret Burg Falk. &nbsp;

Irene graduated from Effingham High School. &nbsp;She was a lifelong homemaker and a dedicated quilt maker. &nbsp;She also enjoyed gardening, reading, and was active in her Church life, St. Anns Catholic Church of Hiawatha.

She married Emmett Becker on January 19, 1954. &nbsp;He preceded her in death November 2005. &nbsp;She was also preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Laurence, Mary and Marjorie and her husband.

She is survived by her children Judy Jacobs, Charles, Ralph and Ernest Becker, Connie Ingwerson, and Tracy Vonderschmidt. &nbsp;She leaves behind five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 4, at St. Anns Catholic Church in Hiawatha, with Father Michael Kantanka as the celebrant. &nbsp;Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Leona.

Friends may call at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha after 10 a.m. Monday until 4 p.m. &nbsp;The Rosary will be recited at St. Anns Church at 6 p.m. Monday, followed by the family visiting with friends until 8 p.m.

As we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend, Charlie Kramer, he would sure hope that you are not reading this while at work, Charlie would say, “You should be working, not reading about me”. He passed peacefully on October 30, 2025, with his family by his side. He was born on November 14, 1966, in Atchison, Kansas, the son of Alfred Ed Kramer and Joyce (Underwood) Kramer and is a graduate of Atchison County Community High School. &nbsp;

Charlie was as hard of a worker as you could ever find. He worked alongside his father on the family farm growing up and carried on part time farming for the rest of his life, raising cattle and tending to his pastures. Charlie was one of the initial employees at Bottorff Construction and worked there for a little over 18 years. &nbsp; He then joined Julius Kaaz Construction, where he was currently serving as a Project Superintendent. He performed numerous side jobs throughout the years pouring concrete and assisting others with projects. Charlie always had the knowledge to complete any project or construct just about anything. If you asked him, he would probably even tell you that he most likely overconstructed everything he built, just because that is how he liked it. &nbsp;

Charlie married Susan Browning on September 29, 1990, in Rushville, MO, and they’ve been happily married for 35 years—proof that love, patience, and a good sense of humor can stand the test of time. &nbsp;They started their family in 1996 with their first child, who quickly learned that Dad’s work ethic and resourcefulness included fixing more than just fences. Charlie was always there for his kids, cheering them on at every activity and occasionally performing repairs to side by side and go carts because of accidents that no one seemed to know anything about. Charlie’s solutions and his love will be cherished forever, especially by the children who still wonder how many spare tires Dad kept in his back pocket.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Kramer; children, Dillon Kramer, Blaine Kramer and Carlie Kramer; brothers, Tim (Sally) Kramer, Jeff (Sara) Kramer; and his nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Joseph Kramer.

Mass of Christian burial will be on Friday, November 7, 2025, at 10:30 am at Mount St. Scholastica Chapel, 801 S. 8th Street in Atchison. He will be laid to rest at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A visitation with the family will be on Thursday evening, Nov. 6th from 5-7:00 pm at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. The family respectfully requests that, in place of flowers, consider leaving a memorial to the Charles Kramer Scholarship, which the family plans to be presented to Vo-Tech students or to Phoenix Hospice, in gratitude for their care and support, left in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. &nbsp;

Charles Kramer November 14, 1966-October 30, 2025

Jacqueline Joanne Riley-Price, 87, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at a local health care facility. She was born January 3, 1938 in Chicago, IL, daughter of Emily (Stevens) and William Mapel. Jackie graduated from Clarksdale High School. She later moved to Wichita Kansas where she worked and retired as a Custodian from the USD 259 School District in Wichita, KS. Following retirement, Jackie moved to St. Joseph to be closer to her family. She devoted many years as an avid bowler and was a talented stained glass artist. She will also be remembered for her love for animals.

Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband, John Price, daughter, Regina Riley and brothers, Eugene Mapel and Billy Mapel. Survivors include nephews and nieces, David (Diana) Mapel of Daytona Beach, FL, Steven (Lori) Mapel of Kansas City, MO, Diane (Tracy) Cameron of St. Joseph, Robin (Clark) Gunion of Kennewick, WA, Roger (Jerri) Mapel of St. Joseph, and Michael Mapel, of St. Joseph and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Cheri Lee (Clark) Wheeler, 65, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, October 24, 2025.

She was born September 20, 1960 in St. Joseph to Leroy and Carol (Kirby) Clark. With her father in the Air Force, the family lived in many countries across the world while Cheri was growing up, including France, Germany, Spain and Mexico.

After graduating from high school, Cheri lived in Virginia for a while before returning to St. Joseph. She was a chef at Mosaic Life Care, then was a mail handler for the U.S. Postal Service before becoming kitchen manager for Harrah’s Casino in Kansas City, Missouri.

Cheri loved to cook for family, and everybody was extended family to her. Her macaroni and cheese, lamb, and fried catfish were legendary.

She loved the Lord and lived her faith as a longtime member of Holsey Chapel ICM.

In her later years, she enjoyed playing games on her phone and always cherished time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Wheeler; her longtime partner, Steven Houston; her parents; and son, Kristopher Clark.

Survivors include daughter, Janaé Banks (Bryan Rucker); grandson, Jayden Banks; cousin who was like a sister, Minister Linda Bundy (Donald); special cousin who was raised as a daughter, Erica Davis; and beloved dog, Coco Banks.

Cheri Wheeler September 20, 1960-October 24, 2025

Sean Erik Tritle, 55, of Oxford Junction, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at Mosaic Life Care in Saint Joseph, Missouri. In agreement with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Sean’s Life will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at the Central City American Legion Hall - WAPSI Post 421, located at 6 Central City Road, where the family will greet friends and family.

Sean was born on August 25, 1970, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Robert Joseph and Cheryl Ann (Blofield) Tritle. He was a 1988 graduate of Central City High School, where he excelled in sports. A remarkable athlete, his accomplishments as a Quarterback on the football field and a Pitcher on the baseball field were particularly notable, highlighted by his achievement of breaking the Stolen Base Record. After graduation, Sean worked at various jobs including Rathje Construction, Croell Concrete, Papa Juan’s of which he was a manager, and Dan’s Overhead Doors, before most recently working with Acterra Group, LLC, of Marion, Iowa.

Sean was deeply loved for his warm personality and infectious sense of humor. He had a talent for brightening the lives of those around him, often found joking around and sharing laughter with friends and family. His love for life extended primarily to his beautiful children, who he was very proud of and brought him immense joy. Fishing was one of Sean's favorite pastimes. He also enjoyed the thrill of watching shows like Storage Wars and often indulged in paranormal, an interest he held in high regard. His passion for the mysterious and unexplained was further exemplified by his role as the founder and leader of Hawkeye State Paranormal/Midwest Shadow Chasers, fostering a community that shared his enthusiasm for exploration beyond the ordinary. Sean’s loyalty to his teams was unwavering; he was an avid fan of the Detroit Lions, Iowa Hawkeyes, and Chicago Cubs. Additionally, his fascination with Sasquatch was a delightful quirk that reflected his adventurous spirit. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Sean is survived and lovingly remembered by his five daughters, Kylie (A.J.) Lucas, Maddie (Warren) Fuller, Emma McCoy Tritle (Macauley Riley), Reese Tritle, and Kinsley Tritle; four grandchildren, Aiden, Emery, Cael, and Dawson; mother, Cheryl Olson; his loving companion, with whom he shared a home, Angie Carlo; several siblings including, Laura (Tony) Martin, Robbe (Heather) Tritle, Mecca Tritle, and Chelsea Ciha; and his beloved faithful dogs, ‘Mack’ and ‘Athena’.

He was preceded in death by his father, stepfather, and maternal &amp; paternal grandparents.

Randall R. Simpson, 65, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2025.

He was born January 9, 1960 to Bill and Mariann (Smith) Simpson in St. Joseph, Missouri.

On November 20, 1981, Randall married the love of his life, Carla Marie Maxwell.

Randall dedicated 10 years of his life serving as a building inspector for the City of St. Joseph.

Randall was an avid outdoorsman. He found solace and excitement in hunting and fishing. He often captivated his friends and family with a good joke and a hearty laugh.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Rocky Simpson.

Survivors include his wife, Carla; daughter, Megan Dufour (Andrew); granddaughter, Grace Dufour; siblings, Jeannie Snapp (Cork) and David Simpson (Chellie); and numerous cousins.

Randall Simpson January 9, 1960-October 29, 2025

Kathryn Marie (Neyhart) Demarest, 71, St. Joseph, Missouri, entered Heaven’s gate on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.

She was born November 27, 1953 in Kansas City, Kansas, to Franklin Cursey and Ruth Ellen (McLeland) Neyhart. Kathy grew up in Raytown, Missouri, and graduated from Raytown South High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree in art at Central Missouri State University.

Kathy taught art for 32 years – one year at Buchanan County R-IV then 31 years at Mid-Buchanan R-V school districts.

On June 25, 1977, Kathy married Richard L. Demarest, and gained the nickname “Sugarbear.” He survives of the home.

Kathy was a longtime member of Hyde Valley United Methodist Church in St. Joseph and United Methodist Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kansas, and was actively involved in Boy Scouts of America, becoming one of the first female members of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say.

Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend, cook, gifted teacher, artist, and quilter. She was an incredibly kind, comforting, and genuinely good person.

She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Jeannette Lancaster Neyhart; sister, Ruthelyn Neyhart; and beloved dog, Muffin.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Richard; sons, Richard Christopher Demarest (GraceAnn), Stephen Lyle Demarest (Nichola), and Matthew Lyn Demarest (Amber); grandchildren, Colin Richard, Joshua Stephen, Noah Alexander, Victoria Rose, Natalie Elizabeth, Isabella Hope, Charlotte Breslin, and Grant Alexander Demarest; sister, Gae Clark (John); brother-in-law, Roger Demarest; and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside Farewell Services and Inurnment 1:00 P.M. Saturday, November 22, Parklawn Cemetery, Brookfield, Missouri. The family will gather with friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Kathy grew up in Raytown, Missouri, and graduated from Raytown South High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree in art at Central Missouri State University.Kathy taught art for 32 years – one year at Buchanan County R-IV then 31 years at Mid-Buchanan R-V school districts.On June 25, 1977, Kathy married Richard L. Demarest, and gained the nickname “Sugarbear.” He survives of the home.Kathy was a longtime member of Hyde Valley United Methodist Church in St. Joseph and United Methodist Church of the Resurrection in Leawood, Kansas, and was actively involved in Boy Scouts of America, becoming one of the first female members of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say.Kathy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend, cook, gifted teacher, artist, and quilter. She was an incredibly kind, comforting, and genuinely good person.She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Jeannette Lancaster Neyhart; sister, Ruthelyn Neyhart; and beloved dog, Muffin.Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Richard; sons, Richard Christopher Demarest (GraceAnn), Stephen Lyle Demarest (Nichola), and Matthew Lyn Demarest (Amber); grandchildren, Colin Richard, Joshua Stephen, Noah Alexander, Victoria Rose, Natalie Elizabeth, Isabella Hope, Charlotte Breslin, and Grant Alexander Demarest; sister, Gae Clark (John); brother-in-law, Roger Demarest; and many nieces and nephews.Graveside Farewell Services and Inurnment 1:00 P.M. Jeffrey Glen (Shakey) Kerr passed on Oct 28th peacefully in his home in Hiawatha KS. Born on December 13, 1952 in Kansas City MO, he is preceded in death by his parents Don and Gail Kerr, his wife Brenda and brothers Jerry and Jim.&nbsp;

Survived by sons Michael Buckles of Kansas City Mo and Jeffrey (Jacklyn) of Hiawatha Ks and 6 grandchildren Blade, Jeffrey, Brendon, Levi, Jadon and Charlotte.&nbsp;

A man who enjoyed motorcycles would be an understatement. His love for the open road and the brotherhood that came with his fellow riders could not be competed with. He was an active and proud member of the Galloping Gooses MC for 40+ years of his adult life. Forming life long friendships that could only be found with fellow enthusiasts. His companion by his side these last few years was his bulldog Bully whom he was rarely seen without.&nbsp;

His greatest joy however was his “baby girl” granddaughter Charlotte “Charlee” whom he doted on as often as he could. &nbsp;Often showing up with root beer floats and ice cream sandwich’s much to her parents' to dismay.

He will be a man sorely missed by many people far and wide.

It was his wish to be cremated with services to be held in Kansas City at a later date.

Lynn Dale Schoening, 82 of Sabetha, KS was called home to be with Jesus on October 28, 2025. &nbsp;Lynn was born August 28, 1943 in Council Bluffs, IA to Woodrow and Loretta Schoening (Franke). &nbsp;He was the second born of three brothers that grew up on a farm outside Minneola, IA. &nbsp;He was preceded in death by his parents, older brother Marlen and younger brother Wayne.

Lynn graduated from Glennwood High School in 1961. &nbsp;After graduation he worked in packing houses before beginning his life long career of an OTR truck driver. &nbsp;Lynn owned his own truck and hauled cattle for years. &nbsp;His CB handle “Big German” would become the name everyone knew him by. &nbsp;Lynn became somewhat legendary among his fellow Bullhaulers and there are countless stories from the road that all of his friends love to share. &nbsp;Lynn later worked for Koch Truck Line in Sabetha before taking a job with Frito Lay in Topeka from where he would retire.

Lynn was an avid hunter and proud lifelong member of the NRA. &nbsp;After retirement, Lynn loved to work around his small ranch with his wife Diane, caring for their horses and cattle. &nbsp;In his spare time he enjoyed reloading ammunition and watching old westerns on TV. &nbsp;Lynn never knew a stranger and was known for his amazing sense of humor and willingness to always lend a hand.

Lynn had a strong faith and knew he would be welcomed in his eternal home. &nbsp;Lynn will be greatly missed by his wife Diane of Sabetha, KS, and by his children, grandchildren, many nieces and nephews as well as countless friends all over the country.

Graveside services for Lynn were held at the Albany Cemetery, north of Sabetha.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Delaware Church, Fairview, and may be sent in care of Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, 124 S 7th St., Hiawatha 66434, who is assisting the family with arrangements.

Sheryl Jo Mitchell, 69, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away on Tuesday, October 28, at a local health care center.

Sheryl was born on July 1, 1956, in Clarksburg, West Virginia to Joseph and Desonka (Radanovich) Coburn. She showed an undying love for her family. She was a homemaker and a Christian. She enjoyed crocheting and western movies, watching her kids grow up and enjoyed playing with her grandkids.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Steve Coburn and Joey Coburn.

Darwin Andrew Wampler, 77, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2025.

He was born March 15, 1948 to Garold Sr. and Dorsey (Brandt) Wampler in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Darwin enjoyed spending time with the love of his life, Jenny, whom he was married to for 27 years. He was the proud and loving Dad to Marcy Renyer (Bryan), Mark Wampler (Liz), and Megan Wampler. He was the proud Grandpa to eight grandchildren who all loved him very much. Darwin spent his entire career at Ag Processing, where his loyalty and work ethic were on display in various roles of responsibility. He was notorious for getting to work early to spend time with his colleagues and shoot the breeze. Darwin was witty, could even be ornery at times, was very meticulous, and was also known for always doing the right thing. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, going to the casino, and was a big Mizzou, Royals, and Chiefs fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, G.C. Wampler, Jr. and Janila Wampler Graff.

Additional survivors include his grandchildren, Colton Renyer, Blake Renyer, Remington Renyer, Halle Wampler, Preslie Wampler, Roxsen Wampler, Landry Wampler, and Oakley Wampler; siblings, Nancy Clay, Randy Wampler, and Ronda Glise.

Jessie Lou (Adams) Couchman, 90, passed away Oct 24, 2025 at St. Lukes Hospital. She was born May 25, 1935 in Altamont, MO to Charles W. and Nannie Bryant (Taul) Adams. Jessie married Marshall Couchman in 1952. She had seven daughters and enjoyed working in the school cafeteria. Her faith/church was an important part of her life. She enjoyed traveling but said no place was better than home.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Connie; husband, Marshall; parents; siblings, Marvin, Harold, John, Freda, Herman, Lucille, and Charles Edward; and many close friends.

Deborah Luann Garrison, 65, of Smithville, MO passed away October 26, 2025.

Deborah Luann Garrison, the daughter of Rev. Gerald Alonzo Garrison and Rev. Leota May Fern Fleetwood Garrison was born on July 21, 1960, in Kansas City, MO. She was placed on the cradle roll at Bethany Baptist Church at the age of six. She dedicated her life to Jesus and became a member of Bethany Baptist Church.

She attended Northeast Senior High School and graduated in 1978. Deborah continued her education majoring in Music Education at Southwest Baptist Church in Bolivar, MO for 2 years. During the course of her life, Debroah was employed in several occupations including certified nurses aide, store clerk, market researcher, security officer, plastics trimmer operator and school bus driver.

She was a past honored Queen in the International Order of the Job’s Daughters Bethel #33, A past officer of the Northeast Chapter O.E.S. #300, a past officer of KC Conclave #4 True Kindred, and an Ordained Minister with the Evangelists Messenger’s Association. She also attended several area full gospel, Nondenominational and Pentecostal Churches and was the Director of Music at Paradise. In September of 1985, Deborah rededicated her heart to Jesus and experienced a Rebirth.

She was preceded in death by her parents Rev. Gerald Garrison and Rev. Leota Garrison and her brother Marion Dwight Garrison.

Deborah is survived by her nephew Rickey Garrison; nieces Barbara Barker and Josette Willoughby; her cat Heidi; several great-nieces and great-nephews; other relatives and many friends.

John was known for his easygoing nature and selfless spirit. He found joy in the simple things—fishing, tending to his yard, KC sports, &amp; cooking for those he loved.

He was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie Davidson, Sr. and sisters; Melody (John) Starr, Cindy (Maurice "Russ") Russell Davidson, &amp; Glenda "Gail" Davidson.

John leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. He is survived by his mother, Donna Davidson; his best friend and soulmate, Christy Caddell, and their beloved dog Mango; his children, Brittany (Michael) Ponce, Matthew (Kelsey) Davidson, and Jason Trump; &amp; his grandchildren, Alexandra, Sophia, Luca John, Jason Jr., and one expected in June 2026. Cheri Lee (Clark) Wheeler, 65, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, October 24, 2025.She was born September 20, 1960 in St. Joseph to Leroy and Carol (Kirby) Clark. With her father in the Air Force, the family lived in many countries across the world while Cheri was growing up, including France, Germany, Spain and Mexico.After graduating from high school, Cheri lived in Virginia for a while before returning to St. Joseph. She was a chef at Mosaic Life Care, then was a mail handler for the U.S. Postal Service before becoming kitchen manager for Harrah’s Casino in Kansas City, Missouri.Cheri loved to cook for family, and everybody was extended family to her. Her macaroni and cheese, lamb, and fried catfish were legendary.She loved the Lord and lived her faith as a longtime member of Holsey Chapel ICM.In her later years, she enjoyed playing games on her phone and always cherished time with her family.She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Wheeler; her longtime partner, Steven Houston; her parents; and son, Kristopher Clark.Survivors include daughter, Janaé Banks (Bryan Rucker); grandson, Jayden Banks; cousin who was like a sister, Minister Linda Bundy (Donald); special cousin who was raised as a daughter, Erica Davis; and beloved dog, Coco Banks.

I lived here in St. Joseph my whole life – except for a 2 year stay in Japan with my husband in ’57-’59 while he was in the Navy.

I married James Dalton Moyer Sr. in 1954 after graduating from Lafayette High School in 1953.

Jim and I had 3 children – Debbie, Cindy and Jim Jr.

From this wonderful marriage of 58 years, there are 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and a special person Roger Merritt who passed away in 2015. Lots of cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

I was preceded in death by my loving mother, brother and sister.

My family meant everything to me. I loved family dinners and my very favorite place to be was Roaring River State Park for over 50 years. I and all my family camped there each year. Next to camping, I loved to dance.

I was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral Catholic Church and active in the Lafayette 1953 Class Reunion Committee.

I worked for 38 years at Merritt’s Office Systems and retired when my husband became ill in 2010. Jim passed away in 2011. I thank God for a great family, a good life and good friends. I thank each of you and forgive me for any hurt I caused.

Scott Wayne Dryden, age 59, of Atchison, KS, passed unexpectedly on October 26, 2025.&nbsp;

Scott was born on September 1, 1966, in Atchison, KS, the son of James Scott Dryden and Brenda (Bomberger) Dryden. He is a graduate of Atchison County Community High School. He and Anna Marshall dated for over twelve years and were married in May of 2004 and have enjoyed spending over thirty years together.&nbsp;

Scott began his employment at the Atchison Achievement services and also performed numerous odd jobs that needed done while working there. He worked as an assembler at Fargo for a few years and then in the Janitorial Department at Amberwell Atchison until his health recently forced him into retirement.&nbsp;

He was a collector of many things including antiques and pottery. He enjoyed cooking, spending his free time fishing and spoiling his dogs. Scott was able to make a couple trip to the beach in Florida and that became one of his favorite attractions. Scott’s favorite holiday was Halloween, and he celebrated most every year by helping the Northeast Kansas Railroaders as the “Pumpkin Head” with their annual Halloween train ride.&nbsp;

He is survived by his wife Anna Dryden; his mother, Brenda Dryden; a sister, Sheli Cook; a brother Darrin (Jennifer) Dryden; and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his father, and a great nephew, Kipton Scott Bowen.

Services to remember and celebrate Scott’s life will be on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 11:00 am at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with Pastor Stephen Lucas officiating. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 am prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Cummings Cemetery. Memorials may be left to the Atchison Humane Society in care of the funeral home. Barbara Gayle Montemayor 82, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2025 with her son by her side. She was born May 16, 1943 in St. Joseph, MO, daughter of Eva and Harvey Ricker. Roger Lee Law Jr., age 62, of King City, Missouri passed away peacefully at his home on October 26th, 2025. &nbsp;Roger was born January 12th, 1963, in Baltimore City, Maryland to the late Roger L. Sr. and Mary C. (Frailer) Law. &nbsp;

When Roger was a small child his parents moved him to King City, Missouri where he resided the rest of his life. &nbsp;He graduated from King City High School in 1981 and worked at King City Lumber. &nbsp;On October 20th, 1984 he married the love of his life and wife of 41 years Sara (Snuffer).

Roger always had a love for wood. &nbsp;He started out working in various lumber yards until opening his own construction business Law Construction. &nbsp;He built and remodeled houses and eventually starting making woodworking crafts and started his other business Law Creations. &nbsp;He then traveled to various craft shows and enjoyed meeting new people. &nbsp;Roger always took pride in everything he built. &nbsp;One of his most accomplished tasks was designing and building the Tri-County Alternative Energy Education and Visitors Center where his services will be held. &nbsp;He also served as a member of the Board.

Left behind to cherish his memories are his beloved wife of 41 years, Sara of King City, Missouri and his son Jake Law of Maryville, Missouri. &nbsp;Brothers Bob (Karen) Law, David (Michelle) Law, Sister Susan (Don) Alumbaugh, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. &nbsp; &nbsp;

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at the Tri-County Alternative Energy Education and Visitors Center in King City, Missouri. &nbsp;Visitation will take place from 9:30 a.m. until the start of the service at 11:00 a.m. &nbsp;Burial will follow in the King City Cemetery in King City, Missouri.

Joshua Sears, 42, of St. Joseph, MO, passed away on October 25, 2025. &nbsp;Joshua was born June 10, 1983, in St. Joseph to Reba Bomar and Rodney Sears, Sr.

Joshua was a warrior. &nbsp;Right after graduating high school, he immediately enlisted in the U.S. Army. &nbsp;After basic training in Georgia, he went on to serve for 13 years in Fort Drum, NY. &nbsp;He served four tours in the Afghanistan/Iraq War, achieving Sergeant status by the end of his enlistment.

He returned to live in St. Joseph, where he met his beloved Alicia Brashears who he spent the last eight years of his life with. &nbsp;He was &nbsp;proud employee of Altec Industries.

He is preceded in death by his son Brayden Ashton Sears, his sister Jodi Kay Sears, uncle David Sears, and three grandparents.

Survivors include his daughter McKenzie Sears, son Jaxson Sears, and their mother Renatta of Carthage, NY; mother Reba (Danny) Bomar; father Rodney (Laura) Sears; grandmother Judy Sears; &nbsp;siblings Rodney Sears and Amanda Decker; many aunts, uncles, two nieces, cousins, and friends.

Services will be held locally at a later date. &nbsp;Inurnment with full military honors will be held at Black River Cemetery in Black River, New York at a later date.

Marguerite Wenger, 94, of Hiawatha, died peacefully in the early morning hours of October 25, 2025, at Maple Heights Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born Lola Marguerite Smith in Humboldt, NE October 10, 1931, she was one of six children born to the late Roy and Lola Smith. She grew up in rural Humboldt and Sabetha, KS.

Marguerite married Henry Hiskey in 1951, and they were blessed with five children: Roger, Brenda, Sindy, Kevin, and Jeanne. They initially lived in Sabetha, KS but moved to Hiawatha in 1956 where she remained the rest of her life. Henry passed in 1984.

She met and later married Frank Wenger in 1993. They made their home in Hiawatha. Frank passed in 1999.

Survivors include two sons: Roger Hiskey (Jeri) of Des Moines, IA, and Kevin Hiskey (Judy) of Olathe, KS; three daughters: Brenda Bosse (Leonard) of Canon City, CO; Sindy Landreth (Jerry) of Virden, IL, and Jeanne Holloway of Hiawatha, KS; along with 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Lee and Max Smith; her sisters Evelyn Roland, Vivian Beeghly, and Sue Snyder; her husband Henry Hiskey; and her second husband Frank Wenger.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, October 30, 2025, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha, with Pastor Shane Spangler officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home at 10 a.m. (one hour prior to the service). Burial will take place at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha.

Betty Ann Downing, 97. Atchison, Kansas died Wednesday October 22, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. at Campbell Chapel A.M.E. Church with interment to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. &nbsp;Visitation with the family will be Saturday from Noon until time of services at the church.

Betty was born September 2, 1928, in St. Joseph, Missouri the daughter of Thomas and Leona Hannah Clayton Moore. &nbsp;Betty attended school at Atchison High School.

She and Jesse V. Downing were united in marriage on August 12, 2001, in Atchison, Kansas. &nbsp;Mr. Downing preceded her in death on September 11, 2001.

Betty served in childcare at the Atchison Child Care for over twenty three years until her retirement.

A woman of extended faith and loyalty she was a lifelong member of the Campbell Chapel A. M. E. Church where she served as a stewardess. &nbsp;Betty also participated as a member of the Atchison Juneteenth start up and served on the committee.&nbsp;

Survivors include two sons, Maurice Jackson, Sacramento, CA; Dwayne Jackson, Topeka, KS; four daughters, Jerry Finney, Atchison, KS; Linda Thomas, Louisville, KY; Corrine Jackson, Des Moines, IA and Theresa May, Atchison, KS; she has over one hundred grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Betty Downing September 2, 1928-October 22, 2025

Stephen Rae Johnson, 67, of St Joseph, Missouri passed away  Saturday, October 25, 2025 at his home. He was born September 4, 1958 in St. Joseph, son of Catherine and Roy Johnson. Stephen attended Lafayette High School. On June 6, 1986, he married Julie Bumphrey. Steve spent several years working construction. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, cooking, listening to music and watching western movies. He also enjoyed classic cars and going to car shows. Steve was also a John Wayne and Elvis Presley fan. Steve was also a member of Life Church.

Survivors include wife, Julia Johnson of the home, children, Drew (Diane) Johnson of Princeton, MO, Brittany (Gary) Ellis of Mound City, MO, and Ian Johnson of St. Joseph, siblings, Judy (Norman) Hardin of St. Joseph, Vickie Heavilin of Savannah, MO, Terry (Diane) Johnson of St. Joseph and Timothy Johnson of St. Joseph, 9 grandchildren, Alex, Na'Zyla, Leon, Davina, Breanna, Rylee, Brendon, Dallas, and Marissa, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 30, 2025 at Rupp Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday at Rupp Funeral Home. The Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials are requested to the American Kidney Foundation.&nbsp;

Stephen Rae Johnson, 67, of St Joseph, Missouri passed away Saturday, October 25, 2025 at his home. He was born September 4, 1958 in St. Joseph, son of Catherine and Roy Johnson. Stephen attended Lafayette High School. On June 6, 1986, he married Julie Bumphrey. Steve spent several years working construction. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, cooking, listening to music and watching western movies. He also enjoyed classic cars and going to car shows. Steve was also a John Wayne and Elvis Presley fan. Ronald Gene Cook passed away on October 24, 2025 in St. Joseph, MO. &nbsp;He was born on May 11, 1937 in Dexter, MO. &nbsp;He spent his early years in Dexter and then later moved to Fort Dodge, IA where he graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1955. &nbsp;After high school he joined the Air Force and was a member of the Air Force Band. &nbsp;He was stationed at Hickham Air Force Base in Hawaii where he was a member of the 501st Air Force Band. &nbsp;He was also stationed at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama.

Ron attended North Texas State University in Denton, TX where he earned a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music. &nbsp;He was a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.

He was a professional musician and worked as an instrument repair technician for many years in south Kansas City, first at the Musique Music Store and then at Meyer Music. &nbsp;He also taught private music lessons for over 40 years and helped many students go to district and state competitions.&nbsp;

Dodge, IA. &nbsp;He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and many cousins.He is being cremated under the care of Heaton-Bowman-Smith.&nbsp;A private service will be held at a later time. His final resting place will be Dexter Cemetery, Dexter, MO.<figure>
