Kenneth Arnold Gwartney, 72 of Easton, KS passed away Monday, March 16, 2026, at Amberwell Atchison peacefully with family by his side after battling Alzheimer's and a life changing stroke.

He was born on July 14, 1953, in Atchison KS, the son of Earl and Louise (Confer) Gwartney. On November 10, 1979, Kenny married Peggy McCoy at St. Patrick's Church in Atchison, KS. They had 2 kids.

Kenny attended Potter Grade School and graduated from Easton High School in 1972. He also graduated from Northeast Kansas Vo-Tech in 1972. Kenny was a farmer for his entire life. He enjoyed playing jokes on people, cold ones at the local drinking establishment, tractor pulls, Nascar races and was a Kansas City Chiefs and KU basketball fan. He focused on walking at the Riverfront Community Center every day in Leavenworth, going on daily scenic drives with his wife & faithfully visiting his grandchildren. You know life is good when you just NOW have a few grey hairs at the age of 72! The fun, very ornery & happy life he enjoyed!

He was proceeded in death by his parents; brother, Bob; Aunt, Bettye Miller; mother and father n law, Gene and Virginia McCoy; and his best friends, David Gates, Harold Oliver & Buck Buchanan.

Kenny is survived by his wife, Peggy; daughter, Molly (Jacob) Pineau; son, Adam (Samantha) Gwartney; 3 granddaughters, Charlotte Pearson, Lila Gwartney & Evie Pineau; Sister in laws, Sue McCoy, Pat (Bob) Miller; Brother in laws, Tim McCoy, Dan (Christine) McCoy; Nephews, Bobby Gwartney, Keith (Shawna) Herd, Eric (Erica) Miller; Nieces, Tammy (Mark) Burkhart, Katie (Dustin) Miller, Bridget (Jeremy) Suitor; Cousins, Emma Miller Wolf, Kathy Miller Sell; Numerous great nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to the amazing doctors & nurses at Amberwell Atchison, family and friends for their support.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM, Friday, March 20, 2026, at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home, Atchison, Kansas, with Fr. Bill McEvoy officiating the service. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Following the graveside service, please join us at St. Lawrence Church Hall in Easton, Kansas for light refreshments and to share stories. Memorial contributions can be left to Spring Hill Cemetery or the Riverfront Community Center in Leavenworth.
