Carolyn Sue (Christy) Nuckols, age 76, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord on March 18, 2026.   Carolyn was born June 3, 1949 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Lawrence and Agnes Christy (Burns). She grew up in St. Joseph and graduated from Benton High School in 1967. From an early age, Carolyn was known for her gentle spirit, warm smile, and compassionate heart.

Carolyn married Forrest Franklin Frazee Jr. (JR) on June 9, 1967, and together they shared 16 years of marriage, and were blessed with two children, Timothy Justin Frazee and Jeanne Sue Walker (Frazee). Carolyn embraced what she believed to be her most important calling—being a stay-at-home mother. She loved and cared deeply for her children, cherishing the opportunity to be present in their daily lives and nurturing them with patience and devotion.

When her children began elementary school, Carolyn started volunteering at their school. Her love for learning and her desire to serve others eventually led her to become the Librarian at Lake Contrary Elementary School. Students and teachers remember her welcoming smile and kind heart as she greeted them each day. As technology began to be integrated into schools, Carolyn eagerly learned new skills and eventually became the computer lab teacher at Lafayette High School. Over the years she also served as computer teacher at Central High School, and later as Librarian at Humboldt Elementary, continuing to encourage and support students and teachers along the way.

Later in life, Carolyn met and fell in love with Sammy Nuckols. They were married on October 27th, 1984, and shared 41 years together until Sammy’s passing.

Carolyn was known by all as someone who loved the Lord deeply and had a true servant’s heart. There was rarely a need she would not step in to meet if she could. Whether giving someone a ride to church, babysitting a neighbor’s children, teaching Vacation Bible School, staying late at school to help a teacher, or preparing food for someone going through a difficult time, Carolyn faithfully loved and cared for others.

Of all the roles Carolyn held in her life, the one she treasured most was being “Grandma.” She was the proud grandmother of nine grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren, and she loved each one with her whole heart. Carolyn had a special way of making every grandchild feel loved and valued. She faithfully attended their activities and events, carved out special time to spend with them, and was always ready to step in and help care for them whenever needed. They all have fond memories of her white van that she drove that would always be filled with all sorts of snacks, drinks, and prizes for good behavior.

Some of Carolyn’s family affectionately referred to her as “The General.” While her love for her children and grandchildren was immeasurable, she also had a protective side that always wanted to make sure everyone was safe. If she had her way, she might have raised them all in a padded room just to keep them protected. She kept a watchful eye on everyone she loved, often calling to warn about approaching storms or to let someone know gas prices were going to go up so they should fill up quickly! If you knew Carolyn, you knew you were loved, prayed for, and probably reminded to grab a jacket before the weather changed.

There are countless things that could be said about Carolyn’s life, and the many ways she loved and served others. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, wife, and friend. But if Carolyn had the opportunity to speak today, her family is confident that she would not want the focus to be on her life alone. Instead, she would want people to know about the most important part of her life—her relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

Carolyn became a Christian as a child and faithfully followed the Lord throughout her life. She would be the first to say she was far from perfect and had made mistakes along the way, as we all do. But she also knew with complete confidence that she was loved by a gracious God who forgives and restores, and she desired for all those around her to know that truth too.  Carolyn was a member of King Hill Baptist Church for many years, and then later attended Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church.

Carolyn lived a life marked by love for her family and a deep and abiding faith in God. She had a warm heart, a caring spirit, and a gentle strength that touched the lives of many. Her faith was central to who she was, and she found comfort and joy in worship and in the promises of heaven. Throughout her life Carolyn walked through difficult seasons and faced many challenges, yet her faith never wavered. She knew who she belonged to and where her eternal home was. She lived a quiet and humble life, never looking for applause. Yet through the way she loved others, served faithfully, and trusted the Lord, she lived a loud life for Jesus for all who knew her.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her daughter, Kalynn , her husband, Sammy Nuckols; and her parents, Lawrence and Agnes Christy.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Timothy Frazee (wife Tanya) and their sons Tristin (wife Bakari) and Trennen (Jayleigh) Frazee.  She is also survived by her daughter, Jeanne Walker (husband Ryan) and their children Faith Lovelady (husband Caden), Grace Everly (husband Zach), Lilly Walker, Ethan Walker, Mason Walker, Hudson Walker, and Nora Walker. Great Grandsons, Jetsyn Frazee, Kreed Frazee

She is further survived by her sisters, Debbie Weyer and Linda Bittick, her brother, Larry Christy, and many other beloved family members and friends.

Carolyn will be remembered for her loving heart, her quiet strength, and the faith that guided her life. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort knowing she is now in the presence of the Lord she loved so dearly and as she entered the presence of her Savior, she surely heard the words:

“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
