Gary Steven Frakes, 73, of Rushville, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at his Sugar Lake home with family by his side.
Gary was born on December 23, 1952, in Atchison, Kansas, the son of Larry and Sue (Hiner) Frakes. He graduated from Atchison High School. Gary worked as a machinist for Rockwell-Bradken, retiring from the Machine Shop in St. Joseph, MO. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and having a beer at his home by the lake most days.
Gary is survived by three sons: Jason Frakes, Jonathan Frakes, and Casey Frakes, all of Atchison, Kansas; a sister, Jennifer (Harry) Kiehl of Atchison, Kansas; and a granddaughter, Lilly Frakes of Pomona, Kansas; as well as 2 nieces and a nephew all of Atchison, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his grandparents (George and Mary Ruth Frakes, Hadley and Dolly Hiner).
Cremation has been chosen, and a private family service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions are suggested to your local Ducks Unlimited Chapter and may be sent in care of the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home.
