Stephen Martin Fisher, 80, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2026.

He was born on January 23, 1946 to Bernard Dennis and Rita Mary (Meyer) Fisher in St. Joseph, Missouri.

He was a 1964 graduate of King City R-1.

Steve's life was marked by his unwavering service to his country and his faith. As a young man, he bravely served in the Navy during the Vietnam War, aboard the USS Topeka and the USS Stormes. Following his honorable military service, He found great joy and purpose in carpentry and home repair, he also became a respected Minister with the Assemblies of God. His commitment to ministry spanned over four decades, touching countless lives through his guidance, compassion and through his time with Royal Rangers and as a Deacon at Central Assembly.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Steve was a loving family man. He wed the love of his life, Kay, in a beautiful ceremony in St. Joseph on July 28, 1973 at Co-Cathedral. He went on two mission trips to build churches in Nicaragua.

Steve's joy for life extended to his hobbies, where fishing brought him solace and contentment. Hours spent by the water reflected his appreciation for nature's simplicity and beauty. He also found solace and wisdom in reading the Bible, which not only fueled his sermons but also his everyday actions, as he strived to live a life reflective of his spiritual beliefs and teachings.

He was the type of person that never met a stranger. He loved deeply his children and his grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Bernece Huerta.

Survivors include his wife Kay, children Bradley Fisher (Rebecca), Mark Douglas Fisher and Melanie Hollingsworth; grandson Noah, siblings Charles Fisher (Linda), Kathleen Fisher and Mary Wahl (Karl), many nieces and nephews.

Steve's memory will be celebrated and held dear in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Farewell Services and Public Livestream 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. Interment Mt. Auburn Cemetery. The family will gather with friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The family suggests memorial contribution to St. Jude’s Cancer Hospital.
