Charles Everett West passed away on February 16, 2025, at the age of 89. He was born on January 21, 1936, in the Edgerton, MO area to JC and Opal (Waters) West. As a young man, Charley was actively involved in 4-H while growing up on the family farm.

Charley graduated from Gower High School in 1954, where he was a member of FFA and played football. Upon graduation, Charley served for 2 years in the Missouri Air National Guard.

On November 3, 1956, he married Karen (Loutermilch) West, and together they built their home in the Edgerton/Gower area. They later purchased a farm, where they raised their seven children. Charley and Karen shared 67 years of marriage, celebrating their anniversary in November 2023. They spent 50 of those years on the farm they loved so much.

Charley was a devoted member of Frazier Baptist Church, where he took great joy in serving as a deacon, teaching Sunday School, and visiting his deacon families. He was deeply involved in the church community, participating in Bible studies, prayer groups, and fellowship gatherings, forming many lifelong friendships. Charley also served as a board member for Hebron Cemetery in Buchanan County.

In his professional life, Charley spent 30 years working for TWA while also managing the family farm. After retiring in 1992, he continued farming and became a caregiver to many friends and family members, offering his help wherever it was needed.

Charley was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Karen (Loutermilch) West, his parents JC and Opal West, his brother Jerry D. West, and his daughter Gina Rae West.

He is survived by his children: Dee (John) Moore of Edgerton, MO; Roben (Jeff) Tebbenkamp of Republic, MO; Jayme (Roger) Evans of St. Joseph, MO; Andrea (Tim) Edwards of Kimberling City, MO; Natalie West of Liberty, MO; and Jeff (LeaAnn) West of Bolivar, MO. Charley is also survived by his siblings: Larry West of St. Joseph, MO; Carl (Nancy) West of Gladstone, MO; and Kay (Ron) Jackson of Easton, MO, along with 19 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Frazier Baptist Church in Frazier, MO. The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Frazier Baptist Church, with interment at Hebron Cemetery in Gower, MO, at a later date. Larry Branstuder, 73, of Smithville, MO passed away, February 16, 2025.

He was born on July 9, 1951 to George William and Helen Louise (Baker) Branstuder in Kansas City, MO. Larry grew up in Gower where he attended school.

He was united in marriage to Idona Tate. After their marriage they lived in Gower, Plattsburg and later moved to Smithville where they made their home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Idona, on November 7, 2011.

Larry worked for Kindred Chevrolet in Smithville for many years. After his retirement he spent time working on small engines for friends and family. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, and hunting.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and sister Nancy Shalvay.

Larry is survived by his children, Chris (Kristie) Barnhill, Lori Ackerman, Jason Barnhill, Shay Branstuder (Sonja), and Kari Davis (Mike); grandchildren, Shane, Courtney, Colby, Brysen, Blake, Tara, Becky, Kylie, Brooke and Taylor; great-grandchildren, Ollie, Oakley, Hudson, Jameson, Ryker, Levi, Amelia, and Asher; brother, Bill (Joyce) Branstuder; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Lella “Mae” Wells (McKinley), 94, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2025.

Mae was born on October 22, 1930 in Callahan County, Texas to her parents Albie and Gertie McKinley.

She married Sydney G. Johnson on February 15, 1947. Sidney passed away in an accidental cave explosion. Mae married Max J. Wells in 1952 and they shared a beautiful journey together for 46 years until Max’s death in 1998.

After raising five children and being a homemaker, Mae needed a hobby, so she took up bowling. This was a passion of hers. She bowled in a league until she was 90 years old. In her last league she bowled with women in their late 60’s. None of them ever out bowled her, she was amazing and fun.

Mae was preceded in death by parents, Albie and Gertie McKinley; husband, Sidney G. Johnson; husband, Max J. Wells; grandson, Earl R. Gilliam; and daughter, Frances Johnson-Smith.

Mae is survived by her loving children, Patricia Groom, Visalia, CA, Kay Mitchell, Liberty, MO, Norman R. Wells (Connie), Smithville, MO, and Donna Silva, Kansas City, MO; and her dear cousins, Debbie Fincher and Bonnita Kaye Case, Prescott, AZ. As a mother of five she was blessed with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. They will all miss her.

Bill was born on May 21st, 1935, in Kansas City, Missouri. His parents were Cecil and Marie Forsyth.

On February 19th, 1955, he married the love of his life Carolyn Forsyth. They were married for 69 years. Bill worked as an over-the-road truck driver before opening B&amp; B Electronics and Marine in Smithville, MO.

Bill is proceeded in death by his son, Billy Forsyth, and his parents.

He will be greatly missed and is survived by his wife Carolyn and his children, Barry Forsyth and Tracy Thomas. Grandchildren: Tiffany (Blane) Hogan, Jessica (Dakota) Merrill, Dallas (Korynn) Thomas, Helen Forsyth, and Harrison Forsyth. Bill was blessed with 5 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held later.

DeLores C. “Lolly” Kelso, 92 of St. Joseph, MO passed away Sunday, February 16, 2025 at Living Community in St. Joseph. She was born on April 26, 1932 to Elmer and Clara (Jevne) Olson. She married Christopher Franklin “Frank” Kelso in Karlstad, MN on October 2, 1954 and he preceded her in death in 1982. They bought of farm near Savannah in 1969. They raised grain, cattle, and hogs.

DeLores started working for Stetson Hat Co. February 24, 1969. Which merged and became Stetson Hats in St. Joseph, Mo. She was active as a union member, becoming president of United Hatters Local 64 in St. Joseph, MO. She was a certified Union Counselor. İn January 1994 DeLores bought a house and moved to St. Joseph, Mo. She retired from Stetson Hats on October 15,1998. DeLores received a Masters degree in Reiki May 9,1992. She was a certified Hypnotherapist and had completed a course in Spiritual Response Therapy and Emotional Freedom Technique. DeLores was also a Silva Practitioner. She did &nbsp;healing and energy work, and was also a Hanna Kroceger Practitioner.

DeLores is survived by her children, Tommy Lee (Patti) Kelso of Lee’s Summit, MO and ZoAnn (Jim) Kier of Rea, MO; grandchildren, Falan (Daniel) Mullett, Zachary (Lisa) Zahnd, Rebecca (Cory) Saxton, and Stephnie (Gage Melton) Kelso; step-children, Frankie Schlender of Olympia, WA and Cheryl Kelso of Settle, WA; siblings, Randell (Peggy) Olson of Washington and Arlyne Cote of Minnesota. &nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, Wallace Olson, Floyd Olson, and Orville Olson.

Mary Lou Miller, 77, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, February 14, 2025 at her home. She was born April 22, 1947 in Tazewell, VA, daughter of Virginia and James Short.

 Mary most recently had been working as a Caregiver for InterServ. She loved spending time with her family, she was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxillary. 

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, son, Jeffrey Jones, and brother, Jimmy Melvin. 

Survivors include: sons, Wesley (Shirley) Jones of St. Joseph and Matt (Tiffany) Jones of Denver, CO, sisters, Malinda (Joe) Lewis of Bluefield, VA and Patricia (Michael) Thompson of Pulaski, VA, grandchildren, Steven Jones, Wes Jones Jr., Dannielle James, and Brianna Jones, 7 great-grandchildren, Cayden, James, Zach, McKenna, Jordan, Clarion, and Josie.

Frederick John Lederer III 54, of St. Joseph, MO, passed away on February, 15, 2025. He was born in St. Joseph, MO on July 12, 1970. He was baptized at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, where he attended school until going to Savannah R III. He played football, wrestling, and gymnastics. He also was in the building trade, a skill he learned from his father and grandfather, Fred Lederer Sr., which he used his entire adult life, building several homes in the area. He graduated from Savannah R III in 1988. He loved music, he came from a musical family, learned to play guitar from his father, a skill he was teaching his granddaughter Rio. He enjoyed fishing the river and the lake, and camping and mushroom hunting with his children. He found a passion and love for making jewelry. He looked after his grandparents (Fred &amp; Marie Lederer) until their death.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Eric Lederer and Bobby Clinton, and his niece, Erica Lederer. Survivors include: daughter, Meggin (Skylar) Cline, son, Justin Lederer, grandchildren, Rio and Creek Cline, Brandi Clemens (mother of his children and lifelong friend) all of Albany, MO, Mother, Carmen (George) Clinton, Edwards, MO, Father Fred Lederer Jr. (Wanda), sisters, April (Eric) Wilson and Jessica (Anthony) Olvera, and partner, Lora, all of St. Joseph, MO.

Haleigh Sue Marie Smith, 20, Country Club, Missouri; passed away Saturday, February 15, 2025 at Mosaic Life Care, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

Haleigh was born on October 16, 2004 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Jeremy and Ashley Smith. She attended North Andrew School.

Haleigh worked as a caregiver for Freudenthal Home Care.

Haleigh loved doing her hair and make-up. She always enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her side kick, Ace.

Robert Earl Jones, 71, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, February 15, 2025.

He was born January 15, 1954 in St. Joseph to James and Marion (Weitlich) Jones. Robert was a 1973 graduate of Lafayette High School, where he was an excellent marksman in J-ROTC and a popular guy – because he was one of the first in his class to get a drivers license. He also was a four-time winner of the Ugly Man fundraising competition at Lafayette, a coveted position!

Robert earned his Bachelor’s of Science in Criminal Justice at Missouri Western State College, where he was on the Dean’s Honor Roll, a senator in the Student Government, and a member of Lambda Chi fraternity. Robert mowed lawns, worked at Wonder Bread Bakery and Montgomery Ward during college.

He then earned his master’s degree in criminal justice at Central Missouri State University. He later worked at Riverbend Treatment Center for 11 years until retirement.

Robert loved to bowl and had a 300 game and an 800 series. He also was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. He loved to fish as well, thoroughly enjoying annual fishing trips to Minnesota.

Survivors include his stepsister, Karen Bravo (Steve); aunt and uncle, Richard and Deborah Weitlich; numerous cousins; and longtime friends, Tony Cox, Jerry Perkins, Randy Cooper, Buddy Merritt, Mark Antle, Dan Reid, Darry Langdon, and Wally Patrick.

George C. Wilhelm, 76, of Hiawatha, KS died Saturday, Feb 15, 2025 at KU Medical Center in Kansas City surrounded by his immediate family. He was born in August 29, 1948 to Lee and Dorothy (Richardson) Wilhelm at Denver, CO. He married Sharon Inman on July 5, 1968. From this union 4 children were born. &nbsp;

George graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Education. He graduated from Kansas State University with his Master’s of Science degree. He began and ended his teaching career of over 30 years at Hiawatha USD 415. During his time at the school, he touched many lives. He was a referee for basketball, part of the chain gang for football, and helped coach many summer league softball teams. He was president of the Hiawatha Jaycees in 1975- 76. &nbsp;He enjoyed bowling, fishing, researching his family genealogy, writing a children’s book, and building and teaching about model rockets. He loved all things about science including astronomy. &nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his parents. &nbsp;He is survived by his wife Sharon of the home, his brothers Chuck (Dee) Wilhelm, Jim (Linda) Wilhelm, sister Sylvia (Kim) Vance, children George Shannon (Laurie) Wilhelm of San Tan Valley, AZ, Dion Wilhelm of Lynnwood, WA, Danielle (Jeff) Berning of Albany, MO, Dr. Heather (Jared) Morrison of Topeka, KS, 15 grandchildren which were his pride and joy and 13 great-grandchildren.&nbsp;

A Celebration of George’s eternal life is planned for 2 p.m. Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha. Shane Spangler will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. Wednesday. The family will visit with friends one hour prior to services Thursday.

Floy Jean Genson, 88 of Plattsburg, MO passed away February 13, 2025.

She was born on February 21, 1936 to Forrest and Floy Aitkens in Plattsburg, MO where she grew up and graduated from high school.

Jean married Donald T. Genson and they lived in Plattsburg where they made their home. Donald passed away on September 15, 2015.

She worked for Norris store in Plattsburg and was a school bus driver for Clinton County School District in Plattsburg. Jean enjoyed doing puzzles and bird watching. Jean was a faithful Christian and she loved being a mom and grandma to everyone.

She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Genson; her son Wayne Genson; and her grandson Tyler Genson; her parents and her brothers and sisters.

Jean is survived by her daughters Theresa (Gary) Cockriel and Bridget Genson; grandchildren Brandon (Roquelle) Genson, Marcus Genson, Christopher Cooper, Trevor Genson, Dasha Genson and Derek Genson; great-grandchildren Wesley, Aalyiah and Alexis; other relatives and many friends.

She was a licensed practical nurse (LPN) and worked in the former Atchison Hospital, and later for Valley Hope, Atchison. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and was a member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML). She also was a former Cub Scout Leader for Pack 94. LaNeta enjoyed walking, reading, her dogs, and attending all the grandchildren’s activities.

She was married to Stanley Snyder on Oct. 17, 1971, in Sabetha, KS. Stan survives of the home, Atchison, KS. Additional survivors include two daughters Kristen (Brian) Smith, Yulee, FL, and Kara (Brad) Surritt, Elwood, KS, a brother Dean (Karlea) Landman, Topeka, KS, four grandchildren Kairstin (Kyle) Heckenbach, Jayden (Marissa) Watkins, Trent, Justin, and one great granddaughter, Hazel Mae. Her parents preceded her in death.

Joyce Chambers, 85, of Savannah, MO passed away Friday, February 14th, 2025 at LaVerna Manor Health in Savannah. She was born on March 12th, 1939 in Craig, MO to William and Zelma (Davis) Kimbrough. She married Donnie Chambers on November 16th, 1962 in St. Joseph, Mo and they enjoyed 62 years together and he survives of the home. &nbsp;

Joyce was a bookkeeper for the R.E.A for 17 years, she then was a rural mail for the U.S. post office, where she retired at 62. Throughout her life she also kept books and did taxes from home.&nbsp;

Joyce enjoyed being outdoors. &nbsp;She enjoyed gardening and the occasional moving of a tree in the yard. She liked football and basketball and about any sport. &nbsp;Above all she loved her grandchildren and family the most. &nbsp;

Survivors include her husband; children, Clayt (Shelley)Chambers and Trent Chambers both of Savannah, MO; grandchildren, Jake (Amanda) Chambers Lee Summit, MO, Shelby Chambers Savannah, and a great-grandson on the way; sister, Beverly Edwards of St. Joseph. Several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. &nbsp;

Joyce Chambers 1939 - 2025

Danny H. Embrey of Saint Joseph, Missouri, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 13, 2025 at the age of 87. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri in 1937. Danny proudly served his country in the United States Navy, spending the majority of his service aboard The Destroyer Leader. After his time in the military, he worked in restoration, helping to preserve many historic buildings throughout Kansas City, Saint Joseph, and other parts of Missouri. He was known for his impeccable work ethic, always taking pride in a job well done.

He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel (Jr) H. Embrey; his son, Roy (Butch) E. Embrey; his stepdaughter, Raea J. McDowell; his daughter-in-law, Penny L. Embrey; and his former wife, Joyce Embrey.

He is survived by his son, Mark E. Embrey; his daughter, Antonia (Toni) Embrey; his grandchildren, Kaitlyn E. Embrey, Kyle D. Embrey, Roy (Butchie) E. Embrey Jr., and Chance Embrey-Farquhar; his stepchildren, Joy Boller, Teresa Crossfield, and Russell Wallace; numerous step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and his wife, Michele Embrey.

Danny will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on through his family, and the many buildings that stand as a testament to his life's work.

Deborah J. (Simanowitz) Frisbie went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 15, 2025 at St. Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City, MO. Up until the end, Debbie maintained her thoughtfulness, compassion, kindness, welcoming spirit and love for her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard B. Simanowitz and Dorothy. Her legacy lives on with her husband, Gregory and son, Jason (Bethany) and her pride and joy grandson, Maxwell. Also her brother Rick Simanowitz (Lisa); her nephew Nick Simanowitz, great nieces Luce and Xander; her niece Brandi Dennis (Edwin), great niece Nevaeh and great nephew Trey; her nephew Michael Smith(Molly); her best friend forever Karen Landers (Jim).

Debbie was born on July 18, 1956 in Leavenworth, KS and grew up in St. Joseph, MO. In high school, she started working with her father at Wausau Insurance, then went on to work at Heartland Regional Medical Center/Mosaic in Physical Medicine and Rehab where she retired in2021.Debbie went to high school at Bishop Leblond where she met the love of her life, Greg Frisbie and were married 7 years later in 1979. They were happily married for 45 years. In 1984 Jason was born and he has always been the light of her life. Her family was her whole life and everyone knew it. Nothing was off limits for her – for Halloween, Jason wanted to be a dog bone, so she sewed a Milkbone costume for him like it was no big deal. They always took roadtrips and Jason still remembers these with such fondness and appreciation. She never missed any of Jason’s school activities which was carried on through watching all of Maxwell’s activities. Debbie was front and center with her video camera. Debbie’s hobbies included scrapbooking and capturing both the big moments and the every day moments of her family’s lives. What a blessing it is to have all these photos now! She loved to cook for her family and made sure everyone had what they needed at any given moment. She also enjoyed planting flowers and tending to these all summer. Debbie treasured her friends and family. Everyone knew they were loved by her and just how much she loved them. She never hesitated to tell her people she loved them. She would light up when she got to tell someone about her family. 

There wasn’t a holiday that went by without a card from Debbie and a lot of times it was created by her with special photos and a hand written message. Debbie’s grandson – Maxwell. Oh boy, her love for him was unmatched. Her joy. Her heart. She was a very present Grandma who would bake cakes, cookies and make elaborate breakfasts for Maxwell anytime he was over. He never went home without bags of marshmallows, snacks or art projects. As she was going through these last few months of fighting, Maxwell learned how strong his Grandma was and coined the term “Grandma strong” whenever he needs to be brave.

Oh boy, her love for him was unmatched. Her joy. Her heart. She was a very present Grandma who would bake cakes, cookies and make elaborate breakfasts for Maxwell anytime he was over. He never went home without bags of marshmallows, snacks or art projects. As she was going through these last few months of fighting, Maxwell learned how strong his Grandma was and coined the term “Grandma strong” whenever he needs to be brave. Wanda Bell Brott Weddington, 96, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2025. She was born in St. Joseph on February 15, 1929, to Isaac and Lorene (Brown) Brott. She attended Central High School. She worked for Quaker Oats, Whitaker Cable, and retired from Sherwood Medical.

She was an amazing sense of humor and a contagious laugh. She had a kind heart and was loved by many. She had much love for her family and friends.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Charles, Carroll (Babe), Dallas, and Ralph Brott; sisters, Maxine Gilley, Marcelle and Lorene Brott.

Survivors are her daughter, Arlinda Cagdill (Larry) and son David. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Patsy was born in Joplin, MO October 11, 1944 to Clarence &amp; Hazel Hewitt.

Patsy was a 1962 graduate of Central High School. She worked at Tootle-Enright and Park Bank, until she married Jerry T. Griggs on January 6, 1967.

Patsy raised two daughters with Jerry. She loved her many Scottie dogs throughout the years, enjoyed shopping (especially if it was a bargain!), reading voraciously, the warm ocean, and anything floral and pretty.

She is survived by her daughters Suzy Griggs, Erin Griggs (Daniel Jacobson), and grandson, Micah Jacobson.

There will be no services. Patsy will be cremated and interred in Savannah Cemetery with her husband.

Randy Gillispie, 71, Savannah, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Friday, February 14, 2025.

He was born July 7, 1953 to the late William and Delphia (Nitzsche) Gillispie in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Randy married Linda Kaye Crane on June 16, 1979.

For 46 remarkable years, Randy committed his professional life to agricultural service, managing Savannah SUR-GRO which later transitioned to Sure-AG. He was admired for his passion for the work, especially his genuine care for his employees and the farmers he served.

Beyond his professional and family life, Randy's hobbies were a great source of joy. He enjoyed the tranquility of fishing and hunting. He also never missed an opportunity to cheer for his favorite sports teams, the St. Louis Cardinals, Kansas City Chiefs, and MU.

Survivors include his wife; sons, Derrick Gillispie (Jessica) and Michael Gillispie; daughter, Chelsie Kallmeyer (Dustin); grandchildren, Hallie, Macie, Jaxon, and Maxwell Kallmeyer; step-grandson, Aiden Howery (Kaile); sister, Vicki Kennon (Jerry); and extended family.

Lois Lea Urquhart Statham, 90, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2025.

She was born February 5, 1935 to David S. and Josephine (Dodge) McCollum in Elwood, Kansas.

The love story between Lois and her first husband, Jack Urquhart, commenced with their marriage on May 15, 1953. Their enduring partnership sadly ended with Jack's passing in 1999. Lois found love again with Thomas William Statham, and they united in marriage on July 23, 2007, until his passing in 2011.

A spirit of exploration was a beacon throughout Lois's life, as she often reminisced about her many travels with her sister. These journeys not only satisfied her curiosity about the world but also enjoyed the stories she would later share with friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and all nine of her siblings.

Survivors include her son, Kenny Urquhart (Cathy); grandsons, Jack (Jenny), Jeff (Robin), and Loren Urquhart; great-grandsons, Kreed and Krew Urquhart; several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Patrick Howard Thomas aka Bub, aka The Old Man passed away peacefully in his home on February 11th, 2025. He held his wife Susie's hand as he drifted up to heaven - He was 81 years old. Pat was born on January 3rd, 1944 to Charlotte and Howard Thomas in Maryville, MO. He was the youngest of their 4 kids. His close family and love for his brother and sisters laid the foundation for what would become a colorful life, lived on his terms. At age 14, he went to Maur Hill Catholic boarding school in Atchison, KS where he excelled in athletics. He was well known for his prowess on the handball courts where he usually dominated in "priest officiated" fist fights.

After High School, He attended Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville, MO until he left school to work full time as a bricklayer for his father's construction company, Thomas Construction. It was these early days in the field alongside his father, whom he adored, that sparked his passion for the construction industry, a passion that would last a lifetime.

Pat's construction career lasted 5 decades and three companies. In 1969, after the passing of his father, Howard, Pat and his brother, Jim, ran Thomas Construction for a few more years before winding it down in the early 70's. Shortly thereafter, Pat bought a struggling construction company based in Galesburg, IL and for the better part of 15 years, turned Galesburg Construction into a successful company specializing in hard bid contracts building schools, hospitals, and prisons across the Midwest. Pat spent the last part of his career as a construction executive, most notably with MW Builders where he provided 17 years of loyal service. As impressive as his projects were, it was the relationships he built with the guys in the field that he truly cherished. Larry Tatman, Rodger Gardner, and Johnny McGrath stories will forever be a part of Thomas family folklore.

On August 3, 1974, Pat married the love of his life, Susie. This was the beginning of a loving partnership that lasted 50 years; 8 kids; 4 states; 5 homes; and, at a minimum, 3 great dogs. They raised their kids in beautiful homes and the loving atmosphere within was the gathering place for what seemed like the whole town, wherever that was. Every weekend included steaks, burgers, brats and hotdogs by the pool. Friends and family were always welcomed and Pat greeted them all with love, laughter, and acceptance. His home was his sanctuary and where he spent most of his time outside of work. He loved to be home surrounded by his people.

While Pat's professional achievements were numerous, he considered his greatest legacy to be his children and grandchildren. He took immense pride in watching his family make their mark on the world. Pat never played favorites - he celebrated each of their unique paths and accomplishments with the same boundless enthusiasm and love.

Pat wore khakis, oxford cloths, and Redwing work boots. He was not a materialistic man but he did love Lincoln Town Cars. In good times, he drove a Town Car. Bub was deeply proud of his Irish Catholic heritage and his love for the Church was something he shared with his kids and grandkids. He faced each triumph and challenge with unwavering determination and left behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unshakeable family bonds. He will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, mentor, and all-around cool SOB.

Kelly Ray Spiers, 75, of Edgerton, MO passed away on February 10, 2025.

He was born on June 17, 1949 to Paul Amos and Euna Mae (Smith) Spiers in Edgerton, MO. Kelly grew up in Edgerton and graduated from North Platte High School.

On February 10, 1967 he was united in marriage to Deborah Joyce Atkins and they were together for 57 years. After their marriage they lived in Edgerton where they made their home.

Kelly worked for the City of Edgerton as the utilities director. He enjoyed fishing, tinkering, bartering, and going to Disney World.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brother, brothers, Paul J. Spiers, Jim E. Spiers and Donald E. Spiers; sisters, Mary Lanham, Ella Hackett, and Ruth Nelson.

Kelly is survived by his wife, Deborah; daughter, Renee Spiers (Harold), son David (Helen) Spiers, and Eric Spiers; grandchildren, Brittany (Jesse) Green, Dalton (Teakay) Flanery, Roman Spiers, Victoria Spiers, and Brianna (Eli) Wright; great-grandchildren, Payton, William, Matthias, and Ace; sisters, Darlene Amos, Donna (Clinton) Mullendore, and Sharon (Raymond) Crowder; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Toby Ann (Gace) Turley, 63, of Edgerton, MO passed away February 11, 2025 after a two year battle with cancer.

She was born on May 16, 1961, to Julius David “JD” and Beverly Joy (Hendrix) Gace in Houston, Texas where she grew up and graduated from high school.

On May 17, 2004, she was united in marriage to Christopher Michael Turley. After their marriage they lived Ashtaubla, OH and in 2005, they moved to Platte County, Missouri where they made their home.

She took cosmetology in high school and was a licensed hairdresser for several years after graduating high school and passing the state board exam. She continued cutting family and friends hair throughout the years. She got her love for animals from her Granny Gace. Her favorite pets were her raccoons, her coyote “Snooks” and her pig “Pork Chop”. Toby loved children and even became a foster parent and fostered 54 children over a span of several years. Several of those children kept in touch throughout the years and even came to visit. She loved her grandchildren and spending time with them. She would take them shopping and on Starbucks trips for cake pops and loved having sleepovers and movie nights at the house making homemade pizza and having snacks. She had a passion for photography especially wildlife and old barns. She always had a smile on her face and an animal close by and never knew a stranger.

Toby was a faithful servant of her lord and savior and was an active member of the Edgerton Christian Church. She was a wonderful daughter, a loving mother, an amazing wife, a dedicated friend and a beloved granny, who will be missed dearly.

She was proceeded in death by her mother Beverly Joy Gace and her father JD Gace.

Toby is survived by her husband Chris Turley; children Autumn Keefhaver (William), Nick McHenry (Stormie), Austin McHenry (Cheryl), George McHenry (Akuej Akoot), Megan Turley (Chad Corey), McKenzie Burgan (Adam), and Hunter Turley (Toby Patrick); grandchildren Lindsay, Henry, Archie, Jackson, Colson, Candice, A.J., Addilynn, Derick, Mayson, Millie, and Maddox; her sister Wendy Nichols (Mike); her brother Troy Gace (Sharon); several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Lois I. Petersen, 80, of Atchison, KS died on Thursday, Feb. 13th, 2025, at home surrounded by her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wed. Feb. 19th, 2025, at St John’s Lutheran Church, Lancaster, with Rev. Elizabeth Carr officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until time of service on Wednesday, Feb. 19th at the church. Lois has been cremated according to her wishes and burial of the cremated remains will be at a later date in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Atchison Humane Society or the St. John’s Lutheran Church and may be sent in care of the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home who is handling the services. Lois was born on Dec. 30, 1944, in Atchison, KS, the daughter of Fredrick and Ruth (Bodenhausen) Graner. She graduated from Nortonville High School in 1962. Lois worked in several different places; she worked as Congressional Aid for Congressman Jim Jeffreys. She worked as an Administrative Assistant for Bob Berger Manufacturing, as a teller for both the Home Savings &amp; Loan, and retired as a teller from the Bank of Atchison. Lois also worked as a bookkeeper for Atchison Beauty College and ABC Construction Company.

She was a very active member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lancaster, KS serving on the Church Council, as a Sunday School Teacher, helped with the Annual Pancake Supper and Garage Sale projects, and Kids for Christ. Lois also loved to cook and garden, was a seamstress and animal lover.

Lois was married to her best friend Richard Petersen on Aug. 4th, 1974, at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Lancaster, KS. Survivors include daughter Kelli D. (Hicks) Baker, Atchison, KS, a son Jeffrey L. (Tina) Petersen, Gypsum, CO, two brothers Richard (Ann) Graner, Bethany, MO, and Dean (Vicki) Graner, Grand Cane, LA, a sister Mary Anna Dove, Atchison, KS, nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and close family friends Jeff &amp; Renea Baker, and Ronnie &amp; JoAnne Baker, both of Atchison, KS. Her parents, a daughter Shonya K. (Petersen) McBride, and granddaughter Jessica Nicole Baker preceded her in death.

Jeannie was born August 5, 1945, in Winchester, KS, the daughter of Norbert and Clara (Amend) Kramer. She graduated high school from Mount Saint Scholastica. Jeannie was a homemaker, wife and mother. She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Nortonville, KS, she was a faithful servant of the church and the Altar Society. Jeannie enjoyed quilting, sewing and crocheting, baking and cooking. She loved being with her family.

Jeannie married Larry Pollard on November 26, 1964, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Atchison, KS. He survives of the home. She is also survived by a son Jesse and Becky Pollard, Sahuarita, AZ, three daughters, Jeannine Pollard, Kansas City, KS, Julie Trower, Topeka, KS, Elizabeth Joe and Gary Curtis, Arrington, KS, son in law Patrick Kingman, Nortonville, a brother, Thomas and Terry Kramer, Cummings, KS, a sister, Karen Weber, Effingham, KS, eleven grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Jeannette Kingman, a brother Raymond Kramer, a sister Barbara Bindel and a granddaughter, Elaine Mae Curtis.
