James LaBundy, 80, Farmington, Missouri, formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2025.
He was born December 15, 1944 to Harold and Kathleen (Crotan) LaBundy in Beloit, Wisconsin.
On May 9, 1970, he united his life with Laura Jane Lindsey in a marriage that was a testament to love and partnership until her passing in 2011.
His academic journey concluded at Northern Illinois University, where he graduated with a master's degree in social work and psychology. James's professional career as a clinical social worker and family therapist spanned an impressive 40 years, during which he touched numerous lives through his work in mental health.
Beyond his professional life, James harbored a passion for martial arts, achieving a 3rd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Ever resourceful, he was also the family's reliable handyman, always ready to mend a broken hinge or patch a weary roof. A man of strong faith, James instilled a sense of spirituality and reverence in all his endeavors.
James spent his younger years strumming the guitar with The Squires. Additionally, his love for the music of Elvis Presley never wavered.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and infant daughter, Maggie.
Survivors include his children, Jennifer LaBundy Palagiri (Ashok) and Jeffrey LaBundy (Lorena); grandsons, Wilbur LaBundy, Walter LaBundy, Oliver LaBundy, and Nikesh Palagiri.
