Lois Lutz July 30, 1932-July 31, 2025

Lois Louise Lutz, of Atchison, KS, having just celebrated her 93rd birthday, passed peacefully on Thursday, July 31, 2025.

Lois was born July 30, 1932, in Fairview, Kansas, the daughter of Alvin Lyle and Ruth Mable (Lehn) Henry. She attended Hosea Elementary School and later Benton High School in St. Joseph, Missouri. She began her employment years at Penney’s in sales from 1968-1971, and then cut material for Horton Garment from 1971-1975. She worked at Mount St. Scholastica and the Youth Center for a short time before joining Western Resources/KPL as a rural meter reader until her retirement in 1990. 

She married Carl H. Lutz, Jr., on June 30, 1948, in St. Joseph, Missouri. Following their marriage, they moved to Atchison and started their family.  Mr. Lutz preceded her in death on February 24, 2005. 

In her younger years, Lois enjoyed getting away to fish any time she could. Later in life, she enjoyed BINGO at the senior center and nursing home, watching Price is Right and Wrestling and feeding the hummingbirds. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren and the entire family. 

Survivors include her children, Steven (Ba Tang) Lutz, Topeka, KS; Kennith Lutz, Atchison, KS; Gary Lutz, Atchison, KS; Carla Lutz-Dame, Highland, KS; Michael (Barbara) Lutz, Atchison, KS; sister-in-law, Rosie Shrout; thirteen grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son-in-law, James Dame; daughter-in-law, Bridgette Lutz; and great granddaughter, Haleigh Elizabeth Kuhnert. 

A funeral service to celebrate her life will be Monday, August 4, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with Rev. Jeremy Heppler, OSB as officiant. Visitation with the family will be on Monday, beginning at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Gardens. Memorials may be left to Atchison Project Concern in care of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.
