Jimmy Joe Herrod, 61, of Savannah passed away Thursday July 17, 2025 at his home in Savannah. &nbsp;He was born in St. Joseph on March 27, 1964 to Joe &amp; Lauverta (Harmon) Herrod. &nbsp;He married Rhonda J. Hays in Branson, MO on November 10, 2019 and she survives of the home.

Jimmy worked at Norris Quarries for over forty years and was very passionate about his career. &nbsp;He loved his family and the time spent with them. He enjoyed fishing, watching the Kansas City Chiefs, and Royals baseball. &nbsp;

Survivors include his wife; son, Chris (Rachel) Herrod of Savannah; step-sons, Alex (Nichole) Fuller of Country Club, MO and James (Shyann) Fuller of Savannah; siblings, David Herrod of Savannah, Debbie (Ron) Neill of Savannah, Dennis (Cindy Leader) Herrod of Savannah, Tim (Cindy) Herrod of Savannah, and Sarah (James) Galbrith of Rea, MO; grandchildren, Hensley, Keaghan, Declan, and Cru. &nbsp;He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Joey Herrod and Gary Herrod.

Jimmy Herrod March 27, 1964-July 17, 2025

John Robert Holmes, oldest son of Harry James and Mildred Leontine (Hood) Holmes was born August 4, 1934, on a farm in Ordway, CO and passed away peacefully at age 90 at his daughter, Tara’s home, near Winston MO where he had been living the past 2 ½ years.

John attended school in Gridley, Kansas through 8th&nbsp;grade. When he turned 13, His Dad bought a 1937 Chevrolet, and he drove his siblings to school. The family moved to Hartford KS when John was a freshman in high school.&nbsp;&nbsp;One month before high school graduation, John enlisted in the U.S. Army and was sent to Fort Leonard Wood, MO, where he was trained to operate heavy equipment. During his service from 1953 to 1956, he built roads and railroads for defense, terraces, and soccer fields all over Germany. This experience with heavy machinery would prove invaluable throughout his work life.

Shortly after being honorably discharged from the Army, John met Juanita Beth Hacker of Mount Ayr, IA. They were married September 1, 1956, at the Harford Christian Church.&nbsp;&nbsp;They would be blessed with his four daughters, Michell, D’Ambra, Tara and Jona. This union would last 22 years.&nbsp;&nbsp;Several years later John married Nell Bridges in 1981, who passed away in 1999. He married Laura Henderson in 2004 who passed away in 2009.

Although John worked as an insurance agent, ran two farming and cattle operations, and started his own bulldozer business, his chosen career was foreman of three large Construction Companies, Art Goin Construction, Herzog Construction and Clarkson Construction.&nbsp;&nbsp;He would be a foreman for more than 40 years before retiring in 1996 continuing to work part-time until Arthritis prevented it. He was a proud member of Kansas City MO Operating Engineers Union Local 101 from 1956 until his death. He was also a Master Mason of the Blue Springs, MO Masonic Lodge and enjoyed the Fairport MO Saddle Club and Lions Club.

During his retirement years, John embraced adventure and friendship through several RV clubs, enjoying camping, wintering in Texas and spending time with friends and family. His special friend, Linda Menter will miss him deeply.

John is survived by his four daughters, Michell Ricker (Bruce) of Mount Ayr, IA, D’Ambra Hainline (Benson) of Mount Ayr, IA, Tara Lee (Mike) of Winston, MO and Jona Fell (Joe) of Kaukauna WI, along with 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Surviving siblings include Kathryn Stutesman of Lebanon, TN, Mary Fuhs and Carol Lingo of Bartlesville OK and Jack Holmes of Waverly, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Eleanor Stanton and Buck Holmes, one grandson, Ames Fell and wives Nell Bridges and Laura Henderson.

A private family inurnment will take place at a later date. Cremation under the direction of Turner Family Funeral Home of Maysville.

John Holmes August 4, 1934-July 17, 2025

Wyatt Henry Assel, beloved father, son, and brother, passed away on July 13, 2025, at the age of 30. Born December 26, 1994, to Henry E Assel Jr and Renea A Bayers in St Joseph, MO.

Wyatt was the proud and devoted father of his two children, 4-year-old Parker and 1-year-old Wes, whom he adored deeply. He found his greatest joy in being a dad—his time spent with Parker and Wes was the light of his life. Wyatt loved the outdoors, hunting, and fishing. He loved the simple joy of the chirping of the birds in his backyard bird feeders. Wyatt loved football and was a big fan of the Chiefs.

Wyatt’s smile and grin were infectious. He had a heart for others, especially those who were struggling as he once did. He was passionate about helping people and hoped to make a difference by offering support and understanding to anyone in need. Since his passing, we have heard from others who were touched when Wyatt shared the stories of his own struggles. He will never know the impact he had.

Wyatt is survived by his daughter Parker and son Wes, and Keaton who is on the way (mother: Ciyara Mills); parents Henry and Wendy Assel and Renea and Michael Bayers; sisters Emma, Maggie and brother Aiden Assel, along with step siblings Meghan, Morgan and Kade Bayers; grandparents Donna Assel, Shirley Pankau, and Diana and Merwyn Smith; and multiple aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was formerly married to Peyton Assel, with whom he shared four years of marriage and the blessing of their children.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. at Grace Community Church in Smithville, Missouri, with visitation following until 7:30 p.m.

Harvey Franklin Mead, 80, of Atchison, Kansas, passed away in his home on Wednesday July 16, 2025.

Harvey was born on November 22, 1944, in San Diego, California, the son of Franklin and Rose (Bartholomew) Mead. Harvey joined the Army shortly after graduating high school where he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Marksman Large Caliber, Expert Rifle, and Basic Missileman Badge. Harvey did his journeymen’s apprenticeship through the San Diego College Trade School. He was a lineman with KP&amp;L until his retirement in 2002.

On April 22, 1999, Harvey married Linda Wilson in Mesa, Arizona. They settled in Platte City, Missouri until 2019 when they moved to Atchison. Harvey and Linda recently celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary.

Harvey truly loved his family and was a kind, generous man with a great sense of humor. Harvey enjoyed playing golf and in his younger years played softball as well as being in a bowling league for several years.

Harvey is survived by his wife Linda Mead of the home, sons Mike (Missy) Mead, Olathe, Kansas, and Scot (Cheryl) Kirkendoll, Leavenworth, Kansas, daughters Kimberly (Marc) Wurzinger, Chicago, Illinois, Faith (Joey) Hinton, Atchison, Kansas, and Hope (Al) Kelly, Atchison, Kansas, grandchildren Colin, Kerry, Katie, Ava, Ella, Kiersten, Mikah, Tenley, Brittanie, Allison, Sean, Tyler, Tanner, Tayler, Taygen, and great-grandchildren Layla, Harper, Kaci, Lucy, Xadrian, Wrenley, Nora, Hallie, and Ezra.

A visitation will be held Sunday July 27, 2025, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Harvey Mead November 22, 1944-July 16, 2025

Danny was a big fan of The Big Bang Theory, the Zane Grey western novels series, Highway to Heaven, cowboy historical locations, and the SyFy Channel. Blue was definitely his color. His humor, a bit impish.

Danny Parker died in his sleep sometime early Sunday morning, July 6, 2025 in Mound City, Mo., at the home of his sister Carol Sue Ward, where he had lived in her hospitality and care since 2018. He had been dealing for years with diabetes and end-stage renal disease, and recently spent several weeks at a skilled care facility to receive more intense treatment. He was 67.

Born April 17, 1958, at the newly opened North Kansas City (Mo.) Hospital, Danny was among the first babies delivered there, missing out on the first newborn prize package by just a week or so. The extended family lived in nearby Parkville and Riverside, Mo., coming to that area in the early 1940s to pursue better work opportunities. His father worked for an asphalt roofing manufacturer and later a rock quarry. His mom was a clerk in the home goods department at Woolworth’s.

In 1959, she moved back to her hometown of Athelstan, in southwest Iowa, with baby Danny and his sisters Carol Sue and Norma Ruth. Their dad died in early 1963 at the state hospital in St. Joseph, Mo. &nbsp;

Danny attended elementary school in nearby Blockton and Conway, Iowa, and the Bedford Community High School. &nbsp;He got a start in construction and excavation work on crews with his brother, Edward Phillip “Bud” Parker, 17 years his elder. Over the years Danny also worked with brother-in-law Bill Clark along with several nephews and cousins who were close to him in age.

Those work projects took him on short-term stays in Kansas, Colorado, Louisiana, North Carolina, and Tennessee. He helped in laying both natural gas pipelines and fiber-optic cable. Eventually he also supervised crews, certified fittings safety compliance, and transported heavy equipment between job sites. Work injuries and reliance on fast food on the road contributed to later health issues.

Between projects, he was usually back on an acreage near Adrian, Mo., where he and his mom had moved in the 1980s, and later other family members followed. That farm became a drawing place for his eldest sister Fern, her son Sam and daughter Debbie, and Debbie’s daughter Mandy. Debbie died in 1994; his mom in late 1995; sister Fern in 1999; sister Ann in 2008; and niece Mandy in 2019.

Around 2014, Danny moved into town to help June Koger, an aunt of Ann’s husband, Jim. It was June and her late husband, Wilmer who had sold Danny their farm when they retired to town. Wilmer died in late 1996, and June in 2016.

Among those mourning Danny are his sisters, Carol Sue Ward of Mound City, Mo. and Norma Ruth Parker Wilson of Eugene, Ore.; his sister-in-law, Glenda Parker of Holly Springs, Miss. (wife of his brother, Bud, who died in 2022); and nieces and nephews, who were more like siblings, Billy Gene Clark and Dave Clark of Adrian, Mo., and Brenda Clark Taylor of Esbon, Kan.

To others in the family, he was Uncle Danny. So much so, Glenda notes, that’s what she and her daughters and their families and even some of the neighbors all called him. He was Uncle, too, to Jimmy Dean Parker, Angela Parker Flores, her daughters Amber, Courtney, Kristina, Ashley and especially her son Alex; to Sam Clark of Alaska; Becky Bryant, of Excelsior Springs, Mo., and Donnie Bryant of Kentucky; Anthony Parker, Mound City, Mo., and Lisa, Jason and Elizabeth Wilson.

Though Danny never married, he doted on and was sometimes a father figure to several of his great nieces and nephews: Michael Taylor of Happy Acres, Kan., Kaitlyn Bryant and Amber Sutton of LaGrange, Ky.; Chelsie and Chip Snow of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; and Mandy Clark and her children River Clark, and Harry and Vivian Greer, of Adrian, Mo.

Danny will be missed but definitely not begrudged relief from pain and fatigue, or the homegoing to all the loved ones who have gone before.

Jeffrey Craig Sidwell, 59, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, July 16th, 2025.

Jeffrey was born on May 18th, 1966 to Charla (Callison) and Dennis Sidwell in St. Joseph, Missouri. The family has lived in the Deer Park neighborhood his entire life. Jeffrey attended Central High School; and was employed with the Stetson Hat Factory where he worked as a hat stretcher, then later worked for Lee Jeans and Red Lobster.

Jeffrey was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals, which he enjoyed following them on TV, along with other sporting programs on TV. He also loved being outdoors, where he enjoyed fishing and swimming as a child, which he was quite the advanced swimmer.

Preceding Jeffrey in death were his father, Dennis Sidwell, and his grandparents.

Survivors include: his mother Charla Moore, stepfather Gregory Moore, brothers: Mark (Jennifer) Sidwell, Mike (Chris) Sidwell, John Sidwell; and sisters: Debbie Sidwell, Joyce Yocam, and Amy Moore-Hamilton. Along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cremation services have been entrusted with Heaton-Bowman-Smith-Sidenfaden Chapel of St. Joseph, Missouri. The family will hold a service at a later date.

Justin Scott Ford, age 61, passed away on July 16, 2025.&nbsp;&nbsp;Born on April 23, 1964, in Chillicothe, Missouri, Justin was the beloved son of John Charles Ford Jr. and Ruth Evelyn (James) Ford-Pierce.

Justin was a proud graduate of Penney High School Class of 1982. He&nbsp;&nbsp;served his country with honor in the United States Army spending four years in service, including a tour in Korea where he was stationed near the&nbsp;&nbsp;DMZ ~ an experience he often spoke of with quiet pride.

Justin had a deep love for the outdoors. Whether horseback riding, casting a line in the water (especially the Grand River), or hunting game, he found joy and peace in nature. Above all, he was a proud father to Clayton (Taylor) Ford and Bailey (Brandon) Ford, and a devoted grandfather to Grace and Tymber.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Russell Craig Ford; and sister, Sharla Kaye Licklider.

Justin is survived by his children and grandchildren; his sisters, Sheila (Joseph) Sternisha and Sharyl Pollard; grandchildren, Grace and Tymber Ford; Uncle Donald James; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

1st SGT Richard “Cookie” Cook of Lansing, Kansas passed away on 14 July 2025 in&nbsp;Lansing. He was born the son of Frank and Clara Cook, born on 7 July 1929 in&nbsp;Provincetown, Massachusetts. He married Kazuko Narita on 16 July 1959 in Sapporo,&nbsp;Japan.

Richard retired from the U.S. Army in July 1975, after 26 years, being last&nbsp;assigned to the U.S. Disciplinary Barracks at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He served&nbsp;during the occupation of Europe, during the Korean conflict and two tours in Vietnam,&nbsp;including the TET Counter Offense. He was wounded in Korea for which he was&nbsp;awarded the Purple Heart. He also received other medals including the Combat&nbsp;Infantryman’s Badge, 2 Bronze Stars, 1 Meritorious Medal Award as well as numerous&nbsp;other awards.

After retirement from the Army, he was employed by the U.S. Penitentiary,&nbsp;Leavenworth, Kansas holding various positions before retiring as the Food&nbsp;Administrator in 1995, after 20 years of service. Richard’s greatest joy was his family and friends (the McDonald’s coffee crew),&nbsp;hunting, fishing, gardening and beanie baby shopping (back in the day).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Clara, his son Edward, 1&nbsp;sister (Viola) and 5 brothers (Wilbur, Phillip, Joe, Francis and Ralph). Richard’s death,&nbsp;marks the end of a great era of Cooks. He was also preceded in death by his best&nbsp;friend George Potter (wife Nadine).He is survived by his beloved wife Kazuko, son Thomas (wife Kim), son James (wife Cheryl), daughter Brenda (husband Douglas), son Patrick (wife Wendy); 4&nbsp;granddaughters (Shannon, Heather, Nicole and Megan); 4 grandsons (Blake, Dalton,&nbsp;Chase and Casey) and 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews that he&nbsp;loved dearly.

Tammie loved bingo, flowers, and crocheting, and collected clowns and angels. She enjoyed time with her family, playing cards, watching old movies, singing karaoke, and music from the 1950s and 1960s.

Tammie was preceded in death by her father; sister, Tina Martin; and brother, Scott Martin.

Lawrence R. Koelzer, 69, Savannah, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2025.

He was born July 29, 1955 in Omaha, Nebraska, to Raymond and Letha (Horne) Koelzer. He grew up in Omaha and after graduating from high school, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, enlisting in 1973. He first served on the USS Sperry and then on the USS Midway.

After the service, he went to work as a carman for the Union Pacific Railroad in Omaha, then the Santa Fe Railway in San Diego, California, before settling in Kansas to work at the Kyle Railroad.

It was at Kyle that he met the love of his life, Dianne Kay White. They wed on January 30, 1988.

Lawrence loved riding his dirt bikes and motorcycles, as well as working on his shop projects, especially his 1951 Chevy five-window truck.

He also loved baseball, particularly the College World Series. He had fond memories of Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha and going to the series games there as a boy.

An extremely generous man, Lawrence was a loving husband, father and grandfather, known for his “Dad Talks” where he dispensed straightforward advice. He leaves many memories for his family to cherish.

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Dianne; children, Kirk Koelzer (Crystal), Wesley Koelzer (Estella Smith), Stephen Koelzer (Brandi), and Lindsay Gomez (Rene); 10 grandchildren; siblings, Ray Koelzer, Cathie Koelzer, Mike Koelzer, Mitzi Mason, Joan Bitting, Lisa Christy, Richard Koelzer, and Kevin Koelzer; numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends.

Joan Phyllis Ruhnke Peek Peterson, 83, was born August 25, 1941 to Harold and Hilda (Larsin) Ruhnke in St. Joseph, MO. She passed away on July 16, 2025.

She attended Diamond School, a one room school in her first three grades. She moved to Highland, KS and graduated in 1959 from Highland High School. She moved to St. Joseph and attended Platt College. She was employed by Herschman and Douglas, Architects, where she met her husband, Edward Peek. They were married on October 27, 1961. To this union, three children were born. They divorced in 1989.

She worked for LaRon Meats, Missouri Western State University and Car City. She was a member of the Avenue City PTA and Extension Club. At St. Paul Lutheran Church, she was a member of the choir for five years, was a member of the quilting group, and was a member of the St. Paul Lunch Bunch for over 40 years. She was a member of the team from LaRon Meats that made a 500-pound salami that was recorded in the Guiness Book of World Records. She met her husband Donald Peterson in 1997 and they married in 1998. They enjoyed traveling. She visited every state except Alabama, Florida, Louisiana and Georgia, went to Canada three times and visited, Switzerland, Wales, Ireland, Scotland and England four times. She enjoyed playing cards with friends from St. Paul Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Hilda Ruhnke, her sister and husband, Marcia (Larry) Janzen, her son, Kenneth Peek and stepson, Scott Peterson and brothers-in-law Larry Peterson and Jim Rogers.

She was born March 16, 1961, to Valentin Zambrano and Dalia Gonzalez in Maracaibo, Venezuela.

Dalia was a hardworking, generous woman with a big heart. She was always looking out for others, and her life was marked by her entrepreneurial spirit and deep love for her family.

Above all, Dalia loved to dance, music brought her joy, and she carried that rhythm in her soul. Her love for dancing was a reflection of her joyful spirit and her zest for life.

She also enjoyed sewing, meaningful conversations, and giving to those in need —always thinking of ways to serve others. She had a special talent in the kitchen and was a truly wonderful cook —her arepas were, without a doubt, the best. Preparing food for her loved ones was one of her favorite ways to show affection. She loved dressing up, spending time with her family, and most of all, being with her grandchildren, whom she adored.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Nolberto Sebrian; daughters, Evelina Sebrian Zambrano and Nordailin Sebrian Zambrano.

Troy Spencer January 12, 1970-July 16, 2025

Larry G. Duke, 82, Platte City, Missouri, formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2025.

He was born April 22, 1943 in St. Joseph to Norman and Maxine (Boggess) Duke. Larry attended Lindbergh Elementary and Lafayette High School, where he played basketball. He then attended St. Joseph Junior College and Northwest Missouri State College, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

Larry worked loading trucks for Frito-Lay during high school and college, then embarked on his accounting career after college graduation. He first worked for Ketter and Associates, then was a partner in Adams Duke and Company, which had offices in Kansas City and St. Joseph. Larry ran the St. Joseph office, then eventually bought out his partner and operated Larry G. Duke Accounting for 25-plus years.

After reconnecting with childhood friend Carol Simms at the Lafayette Class of 1961 30-Year High School Reunion, they wed on February 20, 1993.

Larry was active in the community as a member of the Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club. He was a bell-ringer for the Salvation Army and delivered Meals on Wheels. He also organized and chartered and was the first treasurer of the Timber Park HOA in Platte City.

Faith was important to Larry. He was a deacon and served on the finance committee at Wyatt Park Baptist Church, then was finance chairman at North Cross United Methodist Church in Kansas City. Later, he was an active member of Platte City United Methodist Church.

When he wasn’t working, Larry enjoyed tending to his garden. His family counted on him as the “hole digger and Miracle-Gro guy.” He was known for his strawberries, tomatoes and fruit trees.

In his younger years, he enjoyed racquetball then later could be found at the golf course with his brother David or his best friend since kindergarten, Bill Reichen. He also was an avid Chiefs fan.

Most of all, Larry enjoyed time with his family, especially the grandchildren. He looked forward to birthday, Christmas and fireworks shopping trips with them and was pleased he could help them out with college expenses.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Maxine Brewer; stepfather, Robert Brewer; father, Norman Duke; stepmother, Betty Duke; and stepbrother, Richard Brewer.

Survivors include wife of 32 years, Carol; children, Angela (Douglas) Duke, Paul (Crystal) Simms, and Alison (Kelly) Horn; grandchildren, Arron (Jansen) Duke, Alissa (Joel) Polsky, Sydney (Cru) Couldry, Madelyn (Josh) Oppenlander, Clementine Horn, Trey Simms, Collin Simms, Charles Horn, and Linus Horn; 10 great-grandchildren; brother David (Sue) Duke; numerous nieces and nephews.

Billy E. Moberly, Jr., 77, of Overland Park, passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025 at the Kansas City Hospice House.

He was born on February 22, 1948 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Billy E. Moberly, Sr. and Kathyrne Lee Taylor Moberly. &nbsp;He graduated from Argentine High School in Kansas City, KS in 1967, and served in the U.S. Navy from 1967 to 1971.

Billy was a truck driver for various trucking companies.

He married Linda Miller, the mother of Paul Eugene. &nbsp;He later married Marlene Chapell, who was the mother of Brian and Kevin. &nbsp;He later married Charlene A. Lubratovic, she survives.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James Earl Moberly.

Other survivors include two sons, Brian Eugene Moberly (Christena), Tonganoxie and Kevin Eral Moberly (Meghan), Saint Cloud, FL, one brother, Robert L. Moberly, Kansas City, KS, three sisters, Melisse Richtarik, Hiawatha, Kathyrne L. Tiras (Michael), Redland, CA and Melinda Moberly-Hanks (Jim), Bonner Springs, and seven grandchildren.

He was born December 12, 1950 in St. Joseph, son of Mary (Hart) and Charles Hanway. He graduated from Christian Brothers, class of 1969. On August 7, 1976, George married Lola Furlong. He worked at Silgan Containers, retiring after 40 years. He loved the outdoors, especially enjoyed hunting including coon, deer, and upland game.  He also enjoyed farming and specifically enjoyed the fall harvest. George was a family man, and loved spending time with his grandkids. He was a member of the St. James Catholic Church.

George was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Darlene Hanway, sons, Kenneth and Steve Billings, sister-in-law, Teresa Hanway, and brother-in-law, Mark Dunbar. Gale was born on April 4, 1960, in Maryville, Missouri, to Garvin and Beverly (Fannon) Porter.&nbsp;

Gale is preceded in death by his parents and baby sister, Colleen Hale.

Gale is survived by his son, Chad; daughter, Clarissa Porter; grandson, Draven Porter; sisters, Cathy Keller, Cindy Bowlin, Connie Wall, Carla Howard, Christy Porter, and Cherry Bye; and numerous nieces and nephews. &nbsp;

Garvin “Gale” Porter April 4, 1960-July 15, 2025

Stanley (Jim) James Schilling a devoted father, Papa, &amp; friend passed away peacefully on Sunday July 13, 2025. He was born on September 3, 1942 in Elwood, NE to Henry &amp; Lois (Colb) Schilling. He married Linda Pearson in St. Joseph MO on October 6, 1962. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Linda, brothers Ron &amp; Lee Schilling, &amp; Sisters Ruth Schilling &amp; Nancy Schroeder. He is lovingly remembered by his two sons, Cory Schilling and Justin Schilling, his daughter-in-law Morgan Schilling, and his five cherished grandchildren: Henry, Harrison, Harlow, Hayden, and Hatcher Schilling.

Jim lived a life marked by kindness, humor, and generosity. He deeply valued time with his family, often sharing stories, laughter, and his practical wisdom. His family will forever treasure the countless memories and the steady love he showed through the years. He had a love for farming, gardening, &amp; animals. His dog Remi &amp; cat Hoppy enjoyed lots of time outside taking care of the chickens with him. He worked all throughout his life, he built multiple homes in Savannah including the one he raised his family in. Jim started Schilling Maintenance in 1976. His two sons have continued his legacy and still operate the business to this day. Jim dedicated his life to Jehovah for almost 70 years and was a source of encouragement to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Stanley (Jim) James Schilling a devoted father, Papa, &amp; friend passed away peacefully on Sunday July 13, 2025. He was born on September 3, 1942 in Elwood, NE to Henry &amp; Lois (Colb) Schilling. He married Linda Pearson in St. Joseph MO on October 6, 1962. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Linda, brothers Ron &amp; Lee Schilling, &amp; Sisters Ruth Schilling &amp; Nancy Schroeder. He is lovingly remembered by his two sons, Cory Schilling and Justin Schilling, his daughter-in-law Morgan Schilling, and his five cherished grandchildren: Henry, Harrison, Harlow, Hayden, and Hatcher Schilling.Jim lived a life marked by kindness, humor, and generosity. He deeply valued time with his family, often sharing stories, laughter, and his practical wisdom. His family will forever treasure the countless memories and the steady love he showed through the years. He had a love for farming, gardening, &amp; animals. His dog Remi &amp; cat Hoppy enjoyed lots of time outside taking care of the chickens with him. He worked all throughout his life, he built multiple homes in Savannah including the one he raised his family in. Jim started Schilling Maintenance in 1976. His two sons have continued his legacy and still operate the business to this day. Jim dedicated his life to Jehovah for almost 70 years and was a source of encouragement to all who knew him. Stanley "Jim" Schilling September 3, 1942-July 13, 2025

Robert Francis Kincaid, of Leavenworth, KS, passed at his home on July 11, 2025. He was born on September 13, 1951, in Jersey City, NJ, the son of Robert Francis Kincaid, Sr., and Harriet (Hagen) Kincaid.&nbsp;

Robert married Jean Louise Ostertag on September 26, 1969, in Atchison, KS, and she survives of the home. He is also survived by his children, Robert Lee Kincaid, René Ann Gowan, Rebecca Lynn Kincaid; a sister, Kathy Powell; sixteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Alison Trautloff, Jannifer Lee Crowe, Daniel Kincaid and Robert Dean Kincaid.&nbsp;

Robert was employed at Rockwell International for ten years before taking a position with Retail Data Systems as a computer technician where he worked until his retirement. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and carpentry, playing chess and working with model trains. He spent most of his free time as a Ham Radio Operator, call name NØCKI, where he communicated with veterans and wounded warriors. He will always be loved and missed by his family.&nbsp;

A funeral service will be Monday, July 21, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Jacob Dandy officiating. Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery in Doniphan County. A visitation with the family will be on Sunday, from 4:30-6:00 p.m. at the Arensberg Pruett Funeral Home. Memorials can be made to Wounded Warriors or St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Funeral care has been entrusted to the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home in Atchison.&nbsp;

David Lee Busey 64, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away  Friday, July 11, 2025 at his home St. Joseph, MO. He was born April 25, 1961 in St. Joseph, MO, son of the late Virginia and Gail "Doc" Busey. He graduated from Central High School in 1979. David was an avid golfer and even got a hole in one, which he was very proud of.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a  brother, Virgil Roy Busey. Survivors include brothers, Nathaniel Jones of Belton, MO., and  Roger Allen (Diane) Busey of Jacksonville, FL, and two nieces, Jenna Tyndall, and Heather Paris. Arley Thomas Furgeson Sr. 72, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2025 in a Kansas City, MO hospital. He was born March 15, 1953 in St. Joseph, MO, son of late Alice and James Furgeson Sr. &nbsp;He enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing, and playing cards.

Arley was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Brenda Parham and Sherrie Smithers, and brother, Joe Furgeson.

Cathy Jean Amos, 72, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2025. She valiantly fought glioblastoma with a smile on her face.

She was born August 2, 1952 in St. Joseph to Jack and Elizabeth (Weiser) Peters. She grew up in St. Joseph, graduating from Benton High School. She was a member of the River Church.

Cathy was a school photographer for McBee’s Photography for many years, before working for the St. Joseph School District in the kitchens of Humboldt Elementary School, Lafayette High School, and Oak Grove Elementary. She then found the most fulfillment as a caregiver at Choices, whose residents she considered her own kids.

In her younger years, Cathy enjoyed horseshoes and was an avid bowler. She was a softball fanatic, participating in tournaments every weekend with her best friend, Charlene. Later in life, she was the No. 1 fan of her grandchildren at their sporting events.

She simply adored her great-grandson, who was the light in her life during her battle with cancer.

Cathy leaves a legacy for her family of love, strength and resiliency, which they will cherish forever.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jack Peters; and best friend, Charlene Lloyd.

Survivors include children, Billy Amos, Jr. and Amy Bates (Bob); grandchildren, Caleb Bates (Hayley Goehring) and Delaney Bates; great-grandson, Carson Bates; brother, Terry Peters (Veronica); sister-in-law, Cheryl Peters; nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.

Jerry Wayne Fish, 73, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2025.

He was born June 23, 1952 in Pattonsburg, Missouri, to Cloyd W. and Frances A. (Pugh) Fish.

Jerry proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during Vietnam as an Air Traffic Controller, then later earned his bachelor’s degree in history and humanities from Northwest Missouri State University.

He had a passion for cooking and worked as chef for the Ritz-Carlton in Kansas City and many other places for over 30 years.

Jerry also enjoyed listening to music and was an avid reader.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, William “Bill” Fish
