Charles Howard Fowler, Jr, 91, of Nortonville, KS passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Amberwell Health, Atchison, KS.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Sat. Dec. 20th, 2025, at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Rev. David Neiss, and Rev. Jim Cormode officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Atchison, KS. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, Dec. 19th, 2025, at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Charles was born on April 25, 1934, in Atchison, KS, the son of Charles H. and Lela M. (Heater) Fowler, Sr. He graduated from Atchison County Community High School in 1951. He owned and operated a dairy and farmed until his retirement in 2004. Charles was an active member of the Cummings Christian Church where he served as an Elder, on the building committee, and as a past chairman of the church board He also served as a member of the Atchison County Dairy Board, the former Atchison Hospital Association, the Atchison County School Board, was a Board member of the Home Savings & Loan, Atchison. He was a member of the National Holstein Association and member and past president of the Kansas Holstein Association, and the Midwest Select Sires Association.
He enjoyed singing in the Atchison Rivermen and working in the Cummings Christian Church. The highlight of Charles’ life was his family.
He was married to Laverne I. Fuhrman on May 1, 1955. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include sons Brian and wife Julie Fowler, Cummings, KS, Darren and wife Michele Fowler, Nortonville, KS, and daughter Jana and husband David Neiss, of Kansas City, MO, his sister Kay Domann, Lawrence, KS, ten grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. His parents, four sisters, Marian Whitenack, Barbara Lively, Joan Basye, and Charlene Latzke, a granddaughter Jentri Fowler, and two great grandchildren Amaya Eckert, and Hayden Halter preceded him in death.
