Mary E. Recob, 85, of Elwood, Kansas passed away Monday, October 9, 2023, at the Oregon Care Center, Oregon, Missouri.

Mary was born on April 14, 1938, in St. Joseph, Missouri to Louis C. and Margaret V. (Marales) Nichols.

She was of the Christian Faith and a member of the Red Hats.

Mary was a cook for over 30 years for USD #406 in Wathena, after retiring she volunteered for the Second Harvest Food Bank.

Mary loved spending time with family, camping at the river, and gardening were her passions.

She loved ice skating for most all her life and loved celebrating Halloween and the fall season.

Mary married Clifford L. Recob on September 21, 1957, in St. Joseph, Missouri. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, son, Michael S. Recob, an infant brother, Daniel and a sister Charlene Wendt.

Survivors, her children, Christopher L. Recob (Angie), Wathena, Kansas. Anthony L. Recob (Maggie), Maysville, North Carolina. Gale A. Higdon (Perry), Wathena, Kansas. Jon M. Recob (Kim), St. Joseph, Missouri. David L. Recob (Brenda), Topeka, Kansas. 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Ric was born on September 20, 1968, in California to Richard Miller I and Jean (Labriola) LaMoine.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Miller LaMoine I and mother and stepfather, Jean and Charlie Logsdon.

Survivors include companion, Lois Dinning, 2 half-sisters, Donna White and Peggy Wise.

She attended Kansas State University earning her bachelor’s degree and her master’s degree in accounting. Megan worked as a C.P.A for the former Kramer’s &amp; Associates, in Leavenworth, KS and then for USD # 377 as the Board Clerk, and Business Manager and Para. 

She was a member of the Effingham Union Church. Megan enjoyed reading, knitting and spending time with her family and her boys. Megans greatest joy came from her two boys. She was very proud of them, and she looked forward to watching all of their accomplishments from her front row seat in Heaven.

She was married to Kelly Gracey on September 29, 2012. Kelly survives at their home.

Patsy Eilene (Trayer) Herbert, age 77, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away October 8, 2023, with her family by her side. She was born to the late Lloyd and Ruthann Trayer, in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. She has been married to Estel Herbert since 1967 and is survived by her husband, brother Larry Trayer, sister MaryAn Trego, sons: Lloyd, Kevin, and Wayne, ten grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Patsy was a devoted wife, loving mother, and caring friend. After high school, she travelled to Kansas City, Missouri to begin training as an airline stewardess. While there, she met Estel, and they were married shortly thereafter. Job changes moved the young family from Kansas City to cities in Massachusetts and Kansas until finally settling in St. Joseph, Missouri in 1978. She was very proud of her family and encouraged her sons to be good citizens through good manners and hard work. She was always her children’s and grandchildren’s most vocal cheerleader at whatever event they participated in. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her and loved her.

Larry D. Howard, 75, Savannah, Missouri; passed away Monday, October 9, 2023 atMosaic Life Care, surrounded by his loving family.

Larry was born on October 6, 1948 in Hamburg, Iowa to the late Hugh “Dot” Howard and&nbsp;Wanda (Blankenship) Howard. He was a graduate of Hamburg High School and attended Clarinda Junior College.

Larry worked most of his life in the automotive industry as a parts manager and retired in2016 from Dean Machinery.

On April 8, 1983 he married Rhonda Coats. They made their home in Rock Port, Mo, withtheir two daughters, Laurie and Dawn, and welcomed their son Zach to the family in1984. In 1989, Rhonda and Larry moved to Savannah.

Larry was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and loved his dogs and fish. Hewill be remembered for his love of life, the joy he brought to all who knew him, and hisinfectious smile. He could often be found piddling in the garage or tinkering with smallengines. He was an avid collector, especially of model cars and baseball cards.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Rhonda and great-grandson, Seth Howard.

Larry is survived by his three children, Laurie Thompson (Chris), Dawn Howard and ZachHoward (Amberly); seven grandchildren, Steve Howard, Dom Wilkinson, CarsonThompson and Holden, Hudson, Henley and Harris Howard; niece and nephews, Josh,Riley and Abby; best friend “brother”, Larry Clayton, as well as additional family membersand friends.

Bill Noble, 85, Stanberry, MO passed away Sunday, October 8, 2023, at a Stanberry, MO nursing home.

He was born on September 13, 1938, in Albany, Missouri the son of George Daniel and Charlotta Gail (Beal) Noble.

On May 28, 1960, he married Luella Barton in Whitesville, MO. She survives of the home. Bill ran Bill’s Furnace and Repair and also Snip and Bill’s Appliance and Repair. He was a member and a longtime Deacon at the First Baptist Church of Stanberry. He was an avid collector of antiques and loved attending auctions. He also loved to camp and travel and spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bob Noble and a nephew, Junior Noble.

In addition to his wife, Luella, Bill is survived by his children, Pam (Mark) Jensen, Gene (Lynn) Noble both of Stanberry, MO, Valerie Philipp, Englewood, FL, and Brad (Anita) Noble, Stanberry, MO; 12 grandchildren, Brandon (Jennifer) Jensen, Daniel (Jessica) Jensen, Aaron (Tracy) Jensen, Luke (Sierra) Jensen, Jessica (Levi) McGinley, Cassie (Corey) Weatherd, David (Mary) Noble, Brian (Korinne) Noble, Joel Philipp, Madison Philipp, Aimee Noble, and Seth (Katelyn) Noble and 19 great grandchildren.

Donna J. McFadden, 79, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, October 8, 2023.

She was born August 11, 1944 in St. Joseph to Roy and Florence (Bechtold) Brace.

Donna married Clifford L. McFadden, Jr. on January 28, 1960. He survives of the home.

Donna was a longtime member of Word of Life Church. Donna and Cliff taught young married Sunday School for many years, and Donna also led a young women’s Bible Study and continued spiritual mentoring to young women.

She was a member of the Flower Society of St. Joseph, PEO Chapter FL, Bible Study Group Koinonia; the former Heartland Health Auxiliary, bridge group, and the Beloved YaYa’s and many other organizations.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Anne; and brother, Frank.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Cliff; daughter Tammy Scott (Mark) of Country Club, Mo.; sons, Kip McFadden (Terry) of St. Joseph, and Michael McFadden (Amber) of Country Club; grandchildren, Tyler Scott (Jackie), Aaron Scott (Shelbi), Lee McFadden (Laura), Blake McFadden (Alexandra), Eli McFadden and Micah McFadden; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Sandra of Lancaster, California; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Kamdyn Anthony Dunken 2023 - 2023

Eleanor King, 98, Kansas City, Missouri, peacefully passed away Saturday, October 7, 2023.

She was born on February 23, 1925, to Russell and Ethel (Guthrie) Nixon in Mound City, Missouri.

On June 25, 1950, she was united in marriage to David Bryant King II at the Presbyterian Church in Maitland, Missouri.

After college, Eleanor went on to teach for ten years before pursuing her lifelong occupation as a dedicated army wife and mother. Eleanor’s service as an army wife afforded her the luxury of travelling all over the world with her husband at numerous duty stations.

Eleanor was a lifelong member of the Maitland Presbyterian Church where she served as an elder, Sunday school teacher and organist/pianist. She was an accomplished musician, avid quilter, reader, and KC Chiefs fan. She was also a member of the St. Joseph Runcie Club and had been president of the Officer Wives Club in Aberdeen, Maryland.

Eleanor was a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother who was wholly vested in her grandchildren’s lives. She will be fondly remembered for her “amazing applesauce”. She was loved by all and will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 62 years, Bud; and her siblings, Jean Pipes, David Nixon, Robert Nixon and Beverly Pipkin.

Survivors include her children, Libby Rotkoff (Steve), David Bryant King III (Sally), and Mary B. Stoll (George); grandchildren, Jeffre (Neesha), Sara, Lindsey, and Matthew (Sarah); great-grandchildren, Eli, Norah and Oliver; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Eleanor King, 98, Kansas City, Missouri, peacefully passed away Saturday, October 7, 2023.She was born on February 23, 1925, to Russell and Ethel (Guthrie) Nixon in Mound City, Missouri.On June 25, 1950, she was united in marriage to David Bryant King II at the Presbyterian Church in Maitland, Missouri.After college, Eleanor went on to teach for ten years before pursuing her lifelong occupation as a dedicated army wife and mother. Eleanor’s service as an army wife afforded her the luxury of travelling all over the world with her husband at numerous duty stations.Eleanor was a lifelong member of the Maitland Presbyterian Church where she served as an elder, Sunday school teacher and organist/pianist. She was an accomplished musician, avid quilter, reader, and KC Chiefs fan. She was also a member of the St. Joseph Runcie Club and had been president of the Officer Wives Club in Aberdeen, Maryland.Eleanor was a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother who was wholly vested in her grandchildren’s lives. She will be fondly remembered for her “amazing applesauce”. She was loved by all and will be dearly missed.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 62 years, Bud; and her siblings, Jean Pipes, David Nixon, Robert Nixon and Beverly Pipkin.Survivors include her children, Libby Rotkoff (Steve), David Bryant King III (Sally), and Mary B. Angela Morris, 101, Omaha, Nebraska, formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, October 6, 2023. She was born July 6, 1922, to Smpad and Mary Yerganian in St. Joseph Missouri. Angela graduated from Benton High School and attended St. Joseph Business College before her 30-year career with Drovers and Merchants Bank, and later sold Avon for 26 years.

Angela was married to William Pritchard and had one child, Judy. Later she married Leonard Morris and was married 35 years before his death in 1985.

Angela was a lifelong member of King Hill United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star and Entre Nous Club. After living her entire life in St. Joseph, health issues led her to move to Omaha to be close to her daughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leonard, and brothers, Simon and Carl. She is survived by daughter, Judy and son-in-law Larry Brown, 2 grandsons, Jason (Broomfield Co) and Derek (Nora) (Anaconda, MT), 3 great grandchildren, Tanner, Caroline and Hadley, nieces and nephews and many friends.

Services will be held at Meierhoffer Funeral Home, St. Joseph, Mo., Saturday October 14. Visitation at 9:00 a.m. with funeral services following at 10:00 a.m.

To his family and friends, he was known as “Big Guy”. For someone who lived a life full of big moments, his nickname fit him perfectly. James Franklin Burnham, “Big Guy”, age 81, passed away October 6, 2023. Jim was born April 21, 1942, in St. Joseph, Missouri to Gilbert and Frances (Beasley) Burnham. On September 1, 1962, Jim married Janeen Holdeman in Kansas City, Missouri and they enjoyed 61 years of marriage.

Jim graduated from Central High School in 1960, then attended William Jewell College where he played football. After graduation in 1964, Jim settled in St. Joseph where he began his successful career in the insurance industry and retired as president of the firm with offices in St. Joseph and Kansas City.

Jim’s well-lived life included service throughout St. Joseph on numerous boards and committees. He was instrumental in fundraising efforts for United Cerebral Palsy of Northwest Missouri to expand facilities and programs. He was especially proud to be the founder of the Young Life Club at Lafayette High School with Janeen, and for many years served as chairman of the Young Life Committee in St. Joseph. Young Life’s mission is that every kid deserves to hear the greatest love story ever told, and Jim made sure as many kids as possible heard the story of Jesus. He was an active member of Brookdale Church and served many years in various roles.

Jim took care of people in his own special way which included bringing chocolate malts to family and friends on special occasions and driving those who couldn’t drive to appointments. He quietly volunteered his time taking care of others and shared his witty sense of humor and practical jokes to anyone who would listen. Jim also entertained kids with magic shows and tricks at events and parties and loved to make everyone smile and laugh. His one-liners were legendary and Big was quoted often by his family and friends.

His love of the outdoors included quail and duck hunting, fishing, golfing and skiing. He was a member of the Waterfowlers Hall of Fame and was a proud founder of Greenhead Farm. Jim also loved playing cards throughout St. Joseph with his card buddies.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gilbert Lee "Buzz" Burnham. Survivors include his wife, Janeen; his children, Kelly (Rob) Starr, Andy (Sarah) Burnham and Tim (Erin) Burnham, and Jim’s brother, Monty (Wendy) Burnham; grandchildren, Sam (Kenzi) Starr, Mack (Abigail) Starr, Otis and Brecklynn Burnham, Charlie Burnham; and great-granddaughter, Selah Starr, whom he adored.

John 16:22 states, “…now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.” The family will gather with friends for visitation on Thursday, October 12, 2023, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Brookdale Church, 203 S. 31st Street, St. Joseph. Ryan Michael Beard, 36, Maple Hill, Kansas, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2023, after a courageous battle with ALS surrounded by his loved ones in his home.

He was born on February 10, 1987, to Ronald D. and Janet J. (Young) Beard in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Ryan was a member of the Air Force/Missouri Air National Guard from 2004 to 2012. He proudly served during the Iraqi Freedom conflict in Kuwait and helped with the Hurricane Katrina relief while stationed at Gulf Port.

He worked in various management roles throughout his career, with Target being his most memorable role. However, his favorite job was being a dad to his beloved children.

Ryan enjoyed working with his hands, he especially loved cooking and was a master at the grill. He had a great love of football from playing during high school to following his fantasy football leagues, specifically the Dallas Cowboys. He loved watching movies and tv shows, with Big Bang Theory being one of his favorites.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lawrence and Dianne Beard; maternal grandfather, Gerald Young; and uncle, Michael Beard.

Survivors include his wife, Jessica (Kidd) Beard; children, Chloe, Liberty, Nevaeh, Laney, Kamryn and Kingston; siblings, Danielle Carrillo (Max), David Beard, and Brianna Beard; parents, Ronald and Janet Beard; nephews, Joseph and Judah Carrillo; maternal grandmother, Shirley Young, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was a graduate of Wardell High School and Washington University St Louis- School of Nursing at Barnes -Jewish Hospital St Louis. Irene was a delivery nurse at Spelman Hospital Smithville Missouri for many years. Irene was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Plattsburg, Lathrop Master Gardeners, 4-H leader, FFA Mother. She enjoyed arts and crafts, baking, quilting and knitting. She was very proud of her family farm, The Knight Farm near Portageville Missouri which received its Century Farm Recognition. On November 10, 1956, she married Ronald L. Adam, they would have celebrated 67 years of marriage this year. &nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Eric Scott Knight Adam, brother Ralph M. Knight and sister Norma J. Knight. &nbsp;

Survivors include her husband Ronald L. Velma Morton, 94, of Gower, MO passed away, October 7, 2023.&nbsp;

She was born on September 26, 1929 to Charles Thomas and Lula Mae (Hensley) Morton in Ozark County, near Elijah, MO where she grew up and graduated high school.

On October 1, 1946 she was united in marriage to Maurice “Buster” Morton. After their marriage they lived in Bakersfield, CA. In 1969 they moved to Ventura and in 1981 they moved to Gower.&nbsp;

Velma loved gardening, quilting and cooking. Most of all she loved her family and was always involved in their lives.&nbsp;

She was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Gower and was a current member of the Gower Christian Church.

Velma was preceded in death by her parents; son, Danny Morton; daughter-in-law, Kathy Morton; daughter, Shirley Wheeler; brothers, Elmer and Claud Hensley; and sisters, Redia Copeland, Maggie Lewis, Agnes Johnson, Delpha Long, Mary Buchanan, and Geneva Simpson.

Robert “Bob” Jones, age 74, of Effingham, KS, died on October 6, 2023, at his home.&nbsp;

A visitation for friends and family will be from 6-8:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 13, 2023, at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home. Services to celebrate and remember Bob’s life will be Saturday, Oct. 14th at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.&nbsp;

Bob was born on September 22, 1949, in Atchison, KS, the son of Harry and Zona (Winchell) Jones. He graduated from Atchison High School in 1968, and began his employment career with L.F.M. He joined the United States Army on August 5, 1970, to serve in Vietnam until his honorable discharge on February 22, 1972. Upon returning from the service, he returned to the workforce at L.F.M. where he worked for a total of forty-two years, until retiring as the Transportation Supervisor. &nbsp;

He had so many things he enjoyed about life, especially hunting, fishing, gambling with his sunglasses on and spending as much time as possible with his family and friends. Bob never met a stranger and will be greatly missed by many.&nbsp;

He adored his wife, Frances “San” (Blevins) Jones; they were married on March 3, 1971, at Fort Sill in Lawton, OK. Additional survivors include his children, Christy Jones, Weaubleau, MO; Timothy (Patty) Jones, Loxley, AL; Micheal (Karen) Jones; Troy, KS; brothers, Henry (Nona) Jones, Clarkridge, AR; Norman (June) Jones, Atchison, KS; sisters, Ethel (Faye) Miller, Huron, KS; Opal Reynolds, Merrill, KS; Anna (Larry) Holmberg, Osceola, MO; eight grandchildren, Levi (Shauna) Jenkins; Lacey Winterscheidt; Baileigh (Colin) Staples; Austin Jones; Kenneth (Courtney) Jones; Trey Jenkins; Chance Jones; Lucas Jones; two great grandchildren, Caspian Jones; Cain Jones and one on the way; and he was loved by his nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

Services to celebrate and remember Bob’s life will be Saturday, Oct. 14th at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.&nbsp;Bob was born on September 22, 1949, in Atchison, KS, the son of Harry and Zona (Winchell) Jones. He graduated from Atchison High School in 1968, and began his employment career with L.F.M. He joined the United States Army on August 5, 1970, to serve in Vietnam until his honorable discharge on February 22, 1972. Upon returning from the service, he returned to the workforce at L.F.M. where he worked for a total of forty-two years, until retiring as the Transportation Supervisor. &nbsp;He had so many things he enjoyed about life, especially hunting, fishing, gambling with his sunglasses on and spending as much time as possible with his family and friends. Bob never met a stranger and will be greatly missed by many.&nbsp;He adored his wife, Frances “San” (Blevins) Jones; they were married on March 3, 1971, at Fort Sill in Lawton, OK. Additional survivors include his children, Christy Jones, Weaubleau, MO; Timothy (Patty) Jones, Loxley, AL; Micheal (Karen) Jones; Troy, KS; brothers, Henry (Nona) Jones, Clarkridge, AR; Norman (June) Jones, Atchison, KS; sisters, Ethel (Faye) Miller, Huron, KS; Opal Reynolds, Merrill, KS; Anna (Larry) Holmberg, Osceola, MO; eight grandchildren, Levi (Shauna) Jenkins; Lacey Winterscheidt; Baileigh (Colin) Staples; Austin Jones; Kenneth (Courtney) Jones; Trey Jenkins; Chance Jones; Lucas Jones; two great grandchildren, Caspian Jones; Cain Jones and one on the way; and he was loved by his nieces and nephews.&nbsp;He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Sonny, Donald, Herb, Harry and Wayne Jones.<figure>

She graduated from Atchison High School in 1961. She earned her degree in nursing from the St. Luke’s School of Nursing in 1963. Sarah worked as a Labor/Delivery nurse, nurse manager and a house supervisor during her 38 years of nursing at the Atchison Hospital. She was a former member of the First Christian Church and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, antiques, and spending time with children, grandchildren and especially her cat ‘Smoke”.

She was married to Robert R.” Bob” Rains on August 27, 1965. Bob survives at home. 

Additional survivors include a son, David Kirk (Amanda) Rains, Coffeyville, KS, three daughters; Tracey Lynn (Thomas) Funk, Nortonville, KS, Stacey Elizabeth Beckett, Arkansas City, KS, and Kara Suzanne (Cole) Custer, Atchison, KS., nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Her parents, one brother and two sisters preceded her in death.

Ann Etta Perkins (Underwood) 1941 - 2023

Donald F. Bennett Jr., 71, of St. Joseph, MO passed away Sunday, October 8, 2023 at his home. He was born May 5, 1952 in St. Joseph, son of Mildred and Donald Bennett. 

He attended Savannah High School. Following high school, he joined the U.S. Army. Don married Linda Jagodzinski on April 25, 1986 in St. Joseph. He worked at Citadel Health Care for 18 years and Crossroads Correctional Center for 20 years, retiring in June 2014 as Maintenance Supervisor. Don enjoyed fishing and playing cards, he especially loved his family and he adored his daughters. He will best be remembered for his home brewed tea. 

Preceding him in death are his parents, Donald Sr. and Mildred McKeel, his siblings Mikel Bennett and Sherry Fanning. 

Survivors include his wife, Linda Bennett of the home, children, Stacy (Chris) Safley, Amanda Bennett (Cody), Jessica Bennett, Donald Bennett III and Carrie (Jay) Colley, brother, John (Terri) Clemmons, all of St. Joseph, 4 grandchildren, Kaylee, Rhyen, Nova, and Holland, several nieces and nephews, his Chihuahua, Boobie. 

Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Rupp Funeral Home, with Pastor Skip Crisp, officiating. The Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday at Rupp Funeral Home.

Larry C. Browning, 78, of St. Joseph, passed away on October 5, 2023. Larry was born on January 15, 1945 in Fairfax, MO, to Francis Cameron and Elsie Browning.

He served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict. He was an avid collector of antiques, guns, and military memorabilia. Photos of his collection were included in the book "Collection of the Edged Weapons of the Third Reich Volume I ".

Larry was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his sisters Sharon Womach, who was his caregiver for 27 years, and Rita Feller and husband Dan of Lee Summit, MO; nephews, Brian McCarty, Eric McCarty, Todd Vandenberg, and Shawn Vandenberg.

Special thanks to AseraCare Hospice team and the staff of the Oregon Care Center. They went above and beyond in the care they provided to Larry.

Graveside services with military honors will be Thursday, October 12, 2023 at 12:00 noon at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Fairfax, MO.

Tricia Dierenfeldt, 76, of King City, MO joined Jesus and other loved ones in heaven on&nbsp;October 4, 2023 surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren at her home in King City, Missouri.

Jesus said, “Feed my sheep.” Patricia (Tricia) Anne Dierenfeldt, Red bird lover, angel food cake baker, vacation bible school and camping enthusiast, baby whisperer, hop-in the-car adventurer, everyone’s number one cheerleader, humongous grocery list writer, universal caretaker, dreamer, beach bum, attentive listener, birthday party planner, backward driver, endless picture taker, best-hug-giver, devoted and sassy wife to Bill Dierenfeldt, official mother to 8 (and unofficial mother to so many more), adoring grandmother and great grandmother to 48, sister, friend, babysitter, church member, sheep feeder.&nbsp; Jesus instructed Peter, and we can assume he wants us to feed His sheep or care for His people. Trisha’s life thoroughly exemplified this charge. She loved people deeply, family, friends, and strangers alike. Tricia was born on&nbsp;February 11, 1943 in Whitesville, Missouri to Dorothy and Donald Schottel. Tricia was the first born of 4 children in her family and she embraced her role as big sister by caring for her siblings. She graduated from King City High School and fell in love with her high school sweetheart, Bill Dierenfeldt. Bill and Tricia were united in marriage on&nbsp;June 19, 1965 and there began their expansive and rich family legacy.&nbsp;

As Bill says, Tricia was, “made to be a mother.” She loved each of her 8 children fiercely and was immensely proud of their accomplishments and their families. Bill and Tricia moved their growing family back and forth between King City and Kansas City over the years, and life in the Dierenfeldt family was not lacking adventure. They enjoyed packing up all the kids and the dog in the station wagon and embarking on multiple month-long cross country ventures to California and stopping at every site seeing location along the way, taking no less than 20 photos at each stop. Tricia was a generous and gifted host and was known to invite anyone and everyone to her home for a card party or a meal on a random&nbsp;Tuesday&nbsp;or for Thanksgiving Dinner. Nobody has ever known who might show up to a Dierenfeldt celebration and nobody has ever left Tricia’s home hungry or without a plate of leftovers. Her and Bill were always active in their community and in their church. Tricia enjoyed teaching&nbsp;Sunday&nbsp;school classes and vacation bible school classes and was known to invite and pick up community kids who didn’t have a way to get to church. She was a top salesperson for Home Interiors and won several awards with the company including a trip to Hawaii. She was the manager for the family business called, “The Mark-It” T-shirt shop until Bill threatened to fire her for generously giving away the merchandise for free, and she owned a childcare business called, “Tricia’s Luv’n Care” where she loved her “kids” like her own and kept up with them throughout her life. Loving, feeding, and caring for her and Bill’s rambunctious crew of 8 (plus many more) was one of Tricia’s greatest passions.&nbsp;

Tricia became a grandmother, “Grandma Trishy,” in 1986 and embraced the role enthusiastically. Her gift for nurturing children and her knack for creating everyday adventure united to the delight of her grandkids. Grandma Trishy could be counted on to attend her grandkids’ births, baptisms, sporting events, all other curricular and extracurricular showcases, grandparents days, birthday parties, cousin hangouts, and really any special event that she was invited to. She was thrilled to bring the grandkids along to help throw birthday parties at the King City Manner or to spend an afternoon picnicking and swimming in the river. She loved listening to her grandchildren sing and requested they sing her favorite songs a cappella while standing on any stage or picnic table she came across. She sang her grandkids silly songs as she drove quickly over the hills that ticketed their stomachs and she requested they make “happy plates” at every meal. She shared gospel stories and prayers with her grandchildren and encouraged them in their faith, feeding them, like she fed everyone, both physically and spiritually.&nbsp;

Tricia noticed things that others didn’t notice and she attended to detail. She blessed others anonymously and without recognition. She left care packages for families in need by their front doors, delivered angel food cakes for every celebration, provided driving lessons to ladies who had never driven,&nbsp;sat&nbsp;with a dying stranger for weeks so that he wasn’t lonely, provided parenting lessons to moms in need, and cooked breakfast for everyone staying at the Ronald McDonald House. She truly listened and cared about the details in others’ lives. She knew which hospital room each of the grandkids were born in, her loved ones’ birthdays, and all her grandkids’ best friends’ names. She stayed up all night cooking and preparing on the eve of all major holidays to ensure that every detail was to her standard to ensure a joy-filled celebration.

She worked hard and earned the nickname of, “Wonder Woman” both for resembling Wonder Woman and for accomplishing more than any single person should be able to accomplish.

Tricia reflected God’s love to others in a powerful and tangible way. God’s love reached so many through her, and her legacy will live on through those she loved. Tricia’s legacy will carry on when we leave a place better than we found it, when we encourage a friend with a handwritten card, when we invite someone to church or to a holiday celebration, when we provide a meal to someone in need, when we sing worship songs, when we leave a sweet voicemail, when we host joyful gatherings, when we support those who grieve, when we listen to someone who feels unheard, when we celebrate others, when we visit someone in the hospital, when we love on all of God’s children, when we cook enough food to send guests home with leftovers, and when we strive to remember the details in others’ lives. Her love and care for others was one-of-a-kind, otherworldly, and was surpassed only by the love she is now experiencing, the untainted love in heaven. Let us honor her life by living as she did, by loving others without boundaries, by obeying Jesus’ instruction, as Tricia did, to feed His sheep.

Tricia was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy Michael and Donald Schottel and her grandparents, Ruth and John Schottel and Florence and Howard Michael. She is survived by her 8 children, Kristi and John Lisenbee, Chellie Gilbert and Dave Simpson, Travis and Gina Dierenfeldt, Tiffany and Doug Ellis, Cara Erisman, Dustin and Maria Dierenfeldt, Michael and Melissa Dierenfeldt, and Brent and Marina Dierenfeldt and her 48 grandchildren and great grandchildren. ~We love you more.~

She loved listening to her grandchildren sing and requested they sing her favorite songs a cappella while standing on any stage or picnic table she came across. She sang her grandkids silly songs as she drove quickly over the hills that ticketed their stomachs and she requested they make “happy plates” at every meal. She shared gospel stories and prayers with her grandchildren and encouraged them in their faith, feeding them, like she fed everyone, both physically and spiritually.&nbsp;Tricia noticed things that others didn’t notice and she attended to detail. She blessed others anonymously and without recognition. She left care packages for families in need by their front doors, delivered angel food cakes for every celebration, provided driving lessons to ladies who had never driven,&nbsp;sat&nbsp;with a dying stranger for weeks so that he wasn’t lonely, provided parenting lessons to moms in need, and cooked breakfast for everyone staying at the Ronald McDonald House. She truly listened and cared about the details in others’ lives. She knew which hospital room each of the grandkids were born in, her loved ones’ birthdays, and all her grandkids’ best friends’ names. She stayed up all night cooking and preparing on the eve of all major holidays to ensure that every detail was to her standard to ensure a joy-filled celebration.She worked hard and earned the nickname of, “Wonder Woman” both for resembling Wonder Woman and for accomplishing more than any single person should be able to accomplish.Tricia reflected God’s love to others in a powerful and tangible way. God’s love reached so many through her, and her legacy will live on through those she loved. Tricia’s legacy will carry on when we leave a place better than we found it, when we encourage a friend with a handwritten card, when we invite someone to church or to a holiday celebration, when we provide a meal to someone in need, when we sing worship songs, when we leave a sweet voicemail, when we host joyful gatherings, when we support those who grieve, when we listen to someone who feels unheard, when we celebrate others, when we visit someone in the hospital, when we love on all of God’s children, when we cook enough food to send guests home with leftovers, and when we strive to remember the details in others’ lives. Her love and care for others was one-of-a-kind, otherworldly, and was surpassed only by the love she is now experiencing, the untainted love in heaven. Let us honor her life by living as she did, by loving others without boundaries, by obeying Jesus’ instruction, as Tricia did, to feed His sheep.Tricia was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy Michael and Donald Schottel and her grandparents, Ruth and John Schottel and Florence and Howard Michael. She is survived by her 8 children, Kristi and John Lisenbee, Chellie Gilbert and Dave Simpson, Travis and Gina Dierenfeldt, Tiffany and Doug Ellis, Cara Erisman, Dustin and Maria Dierenfeldt, Michael and Melissa Dierenfeldt, and Brent and Marina Dierenfeldt and her 48 grandchildren and great grandchildren. ~We love you more.~Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 9 at the First Baptist Church, King City, MO under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home, King City, MO. Helen K Duncan, age 74 of Hiawatha, KS passed away peacefully at her home with her granddaughter Olivia at her bedside, Tuesday, October 3rd. Helen was born October 22, 1948, to the union of Edith and Stanley Duncan. She was named after her father’s sister. She grew up and attended school in Hiawatha, Kansas.

Helen was no stranger to hard work. Throughout her lifetime she worked as a respiratory therapist assistant, nanny, flag person on the highway, factory worker, nurse’s aide, and a caregiver outside as well as inside the home. For many years Helen helped her mother in caring for her grandparents and uncle (Ross and Pearl Gamble and the son Pete). She later became the primary caregiver for her mother. Helen loved shopping at Old Navy, Bath &amp; Body Works, thrift stores, taking long walks and she loved to do home improvement projects and yard work.&nbsp;

As a young girl she would attend church with her mother at the Church of God and Christ and the AME Methodist Church. Later in life she would attend Second Baptist Church a block from her home.

She was preceded in death by her parents Edith and Stanley Duncan, brothers Delmar and Stanley Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory, one son Tyron L Duncan of Hiawatha, KS, one daughter Tammy (Brian) Gibbs of Fort Bragg, NC, two granddaughters Olivia Duncan of Blue Springs, MO, &nbsp;Tamrian Gibbs of Fort Bragg, NC, grandson, Brian Gibbs Jr. of Fort Bragg, NC, three great granddaughters Milani and Gianna Stapleton both of Blue Springs, MO and Brilee Gandy of Fort Bragg, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and friends.

Celebration of Life Service will be 2 p.m., Sunday, October 22, 2023 at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha. Regina Stillman will officiate. &nbsp;Cremation is to follow services with inurnment at the Hiawatha Cemetery at a later date. Paul Klein, 74, St. Joseph, Missouri; passed away September 30, 2023, with his devoted wife by his side.

Paul was born on July 7, 1949 in St. Joseph, Missouri, to the late Neil and Doris (Gouvin) Klein. He was a lifelong resident of St. Joseph, and was raised of the Catholic faith. Paul was a graduate of Christian Brothers High School Class of 1967.

He started working on the lot in grade school and would later become owner and operator of Klein Motors until his passing. Paul loved any and everything to do with cars, and the faster the better. He had a passion for sprint car racing at the Savannah Speedway, was an avid NASCAR fan and was a former member of the Corvette Club.Paul had an infectious personality and was always the life of any party. &nbsp;He will be missed by his family and friends.&nbsp;Paul married Gracie Huffman on July 6, 1977 in Miami, Oklahoma. To that union, they had a daughter, Carla, who worked alongside her mother and father until her passing in 2011.Paul is survived by his wife, Gracie, Gemma and countless friends.A Private Family Graveside Service was held. &nbsp;A register book is available for signing at the Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel.<figure>
