Richard Wayne Halstead, 71, of Cummings, KS died on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at his home in Cummings, KS.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, Jan. 8th, 2024, at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home with Chaplain Andy Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in the Cummings Cemetery, Cummings, KS. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday, Jan. 7th, 2024, at the Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home. Richard was born on Sept. 20, 1952, in Atchison, KS, the son of Wayne and Geraldine (Carpenter) Halstead. Richard attended Atchison County Community High School, and Topeka Vo-Technical School studying small engine repair. He worked for Orscheln’s in Atchison before joining the grounds crew at Benedictine College. He enjoyed cutting wood, wood working, was an outdoors man and had a farmer’s heart.
Survivors include a son Chris Halstead, St. Joseph, MO, two daughters Angela (Chris) Hale, Savannah, MO, and Crystal (Rick) Mahoney, Atchison, KS, two brothers Charles Halstead, Topeka, KS and J Halstead, Ruffin, NC, two sisters Ann Watters, Topeka, KS and Janet Russell, St. Joseph, MO, thirteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. His parents preceded him in death.
