Russell Collins, 92, of North Kansas City, MO, formerly of Edgerton, MO passed away, April 15, 2024.

He was born on January 3, 1932 to William F. and Marion (Grogan) Collins in Higginsville, MO. Russell grew up in Higginsville where he attended school. He then served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.&nbsp;

On December 1, 1953 he was united in marriage to Zora McKinney. After their marriage they lived in Kansas City where they made their home.

Russell was a member of the Edgerton Christian Church. He was also a member of the VFW.

He was a Fire Apparatus Operator for the Kansas City Fire Department for 34 years.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William Collins; and sister, Beverly Cornelison.

He is survived by his wife, Zora, of the home; children, Susan (Terry) Burns, Mickey (Sherry) Collins; grandchildren, Michelle Collins, Halley Collins, Teagan (Jimmy) Slosson, and Kelsey Burns; great-granddaughter, Ava Belle; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Service: 12:00 p.m. Monday, April 22nd at the Edgerton Christian Church in Edgerton, MO with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Burial: 12:00 p.m Tuesday, April 23rd at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, MO.

Carl Robert Jones, 80, of Smithville, MO passed away April 15, 2024.

Carl was born July 22, 1943, to Maurice and Wilma (Baker) Jones in Claycomo, Missouri. Carl grew up in Smithville, Missouri and attended Smithville schools, graduating in 1961. He started working at Corn Products/National Starch at the age of 18 and retired after 49 years as a machinist. Carl was a soldier in the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. Carl was a passionate member of the Steelworkers Union (USW) and devoted many years working to improve the lives of his fellow members.&nbsp;

On March 27, 1986, he was united in marriage to Betty Annette Foster. They made their home in Smithville, where they raised their children and were very involved in the community. Betty passed away December 5, 2015.&nbsp;

Carl was well known around all of Clay County as an ornery jokester. He always made sure everyone had a clean shirt and that all kids wore shoes while riding a bicycle. He valued hard work, helping others, and finding joy in the little things; including things like driving around the lake, to socializing at the grocery store, and even admiring the wildlife activity from near and afar.&nbsp;

Carl loved his family dearly. He was a devoted husband who wore many hats, including personal chef, chauffeur, and he was a Betty Jones task specialist. Every inquiry was met with nothing short of a “yes dear “. There is nothing he wouldn’t do for her.&nbsp;

Carl had such a loving relationship with his kids. Samantha and Andrew were the light of his life and everyone knew how proud Carl was of them. His pride was rivaled when he earned the title of “Wawa”, after he became a grandfather. He had four little loves and eventually an entire community that referred to him by his earned name.&nbsp;

Friends meant so much to Carl. In fact, he has so many friends because he never knew a stranger. People often comment that they never saw him without a smile, but his true gift was that he always brought smiles to others.&nbsp;

Carl is preceded in death by his wife, Betty; granddaughter, Macklyn; parents, Maurice and Wilma Jones; sisters, Charlotte and Carol; brothers, Gene, Ronnie, and Donnie and brother-in-law Eugene Shipley.&nbsp;

Carl is survived by his daughter, Samantha; son, Andrew (Hadleigh); three grandchildren Carly, Georgia and Henry; brother, Earl (Janet) Jones; sister-in-law Linda Jones; sister-in-law, Barbara Shipley, and brother-in-law, Bob (Cindy) Foster as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.&nbsp;

Visitation: 1:00-4:00 p.m. with Funeral Services at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 21st at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Celebration of Life with dinner and fellowship to honor Carl will follow the service at 5:00 p.m. at Smithville American Legion.

David Harold Hensley, 48, of Kansas City, MO passed away April 11, 2024.

He was born on August 5, 1975, in Smithville, MO. David attended grade school in Edgerton, MO and graduated from Platte County High School in 1993.

David attended the Dearborn Christian Church in his youth. He was currently a salesman for McCray Lumber and Millwork where made many close friends who were like brothers. He enjoyed fishing and golfing and was an avid Raiders fan. Most of all David was a kind, loving person who would do anything for anyone.&nbsp;

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Dorothy Hensley, Samuel Hensley, Fred Gardner and Elvena Crump; and uncles Bobby Hensley and Donald Hensley.

She was born October 7, 1929, to Peter J. and Anna E. (Wrobliski) Klein in Helena, Nebraska. Lorraine grew up in Hamburg, IA and graduated from Hamburg High School.&nbsp;

&nbsp;On December 24 she was united in marriage to James Clark Lytle. After their marriage they lived in Hamburg, IA, Burlington, IA and made their home in Kansas City, MO. Jim passed away November 2, 1999.&nbsp;

Lorraine enjoyed jig saw puzzles, coloring, feeding the birds and squirrels and most of all being with family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jim Lytle; son Kenneth Lytle; grandson Michael Savage; and brothers Harry Klein, Charles Klein and Grover Klein.

Lorraine is survived by her son David Lytle and wife Connie; daughter Vicki McCarthy; daughter-in-law Sheryl Lytle; grandchildren Craig (Mary Ann) Lytle, Brent (Elena) Lytle and Eric (Miranda) Lytle; great-grandchildren Henley and McKenna; other relatives and many friends.&nbsp;

She was born on July 11, 1956, to William Carrel “Billy” and Maxine (Teeple) Harmer in Smithville, MO. Brenda grew up in Edgerton and helped at the family restaurant Harmer’s Café. She graduated from North Platte High School.

Brenda married Clarence Wilder and they made their home in Edgerton. She enjoyed planting flowers and tomato plants and going to her brother John’s farms. She loved hanging out with her mom and sister Karen at the café, thrift shopping with her sister Karen, family gatherings and most of all spending time with her nieces and nephews who she called her kids.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Wilder; her father Billy Harmer; grandparents Carrel and Martha Harmer and Bill and Eileen Teeple and special friend Dale Jones.

Brenda is survived by her mother Maxine Harmer; brother John Harmer; sister Karen (Harmer) Belt; nieces and nephews Tim Huntsman, Sarah Klein, Danny Harmer, Andy (Charlene) Landis, Cory (Melissa) Harmer, and Billie (Cody) Routon; great-nieces and nephews Nick, Chase, Kellan, Lily, Andie, Sophia and Lukas; other relatives and many friends.&nbsp;

Lydia Elaine Clay came into this world as the best surprise ever on February 9, 2024 and passed away on April 19, 2024. She was a strong little girl who fought for one month in the NICU getting to come home on her one-month milestone. Lydia was able to be a part of the KC Chiefs Super Bowl win, go to the aquarium, attend a KC Royals game win and see an eclipse. She also got to celebrate Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick's Day and Easter with her family. In Lydia’s short life, she had a huge impact on all those around her and will forever be in our hearts.&nbsp;

&nbsp;Lydia is survived by her parents Liliana Callahan and Lucas Clay; her maternal grandparents Susan “Mema” and Edward “Pawpaw” Doyle; her paternal grandmother Julie Clay; great-grandparents Leslie “Gigi Pa” and Shirley “Gigi Ma” Callahan; aunt and uncle Emily and Arin O’Connor; uncle Joe Callahan; great- uncle Stuart Callahan; cousins Kian and Evelyn O’Connor; and her dog Samson.

Harriet Jean (Moore) Aldridge, age 86, of Atchison, KS, passed peacefully on April 18, 2024, at the Medicalodge of Atchison.

Her life will be celebrated and remembered with a funeral service on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 12:00 Noon at the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Watkins as officiant. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Gardens. A visitation with the family will be from 11:00 A.M. until time of service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Atchison Humane Society or Alzheimer’s Association in care of the funeral home.

She was born on April 15, 1938, to Leonard Otto Moore and Emilie (Liepold) Moore in Atchison, KS. She attended Atchison High School and NEKA – Vocational Technical School.

She loved caring for others and worked as an in-home attendant for several years. She also worked as an advocate for Dove’s Women’s Shelter.

Harriet had a love for bowling, bingo, fishing, gardening, cooking and mostly for her family. She was a “mom” to more than her own children. She, along with Charles helped so many others. And somehow always had enough food for anyone who came through the door.

She was married to Robert Burgoon and Samuel Hale previously. However, on November 18, 1977, she married the love of her life Charles L. Aldridge, who helped her raise her six children. Mr. Aldridge was devoted to Harriet until his death on November 6, 2020.

She leaves behind her six children; three sons, Robert “Bob” Burgoon, Atchison, KS, Gene (Solange) Burgoon, Lansing, KS, Samuel “Sammy” (Crystal) Hale, Atchison, KS, three daughters, Kimberly “Kim” Burgoon, Atchison, KS, Vickie Hale, Atchison, KS, Jeanette (Dale) Hale-Oden, Kearney, MO, a sister, Mary Lou (Pat) Cummins, Cummings, KS, seventeen grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Emilie Moore, husband, Charles Aldridge, a stillborn son, and three brothers, Robert Moore, Leonard “Sonny” Moore, Donald “Don” Moore and a very special great grandson, Victur Arthur Torres.&nbsp;

Harriet Jean Aldridge 1938 - 2024

Katie Lee Baker 87, of Savannah, Missouri, passed away Friday, April 19, 2024 at her home in Savannah. She was born July 14, 1936 in St. Joseph, daughter of Ann (Griffin) and Emory Slaybaugh. On February 20, 1958, she married Lewis Dale Baker. She worked as a Med Tech, retiring after 30+ years of service. Katie loved horses and dogs. Her hobbies included painting, gardening, and going camping. She was an active member of the Savannah Congregation of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.

On February 20, 1958, she married Lewis Dale Baker. She worked as a Med Tech, retiring after 30+ years of service. Katie loved horses and dogs. Her hobbies included painting, gardening, and going camping. She was an active member of the Savannah Congregation of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Her favorite hobbies include being with family, horse races, and bingo, where she was the luckiest woman ever. Carmen was a member of St. Patrick Church Altar Society and Little United Nations, along with being a member at Saint Patrick Catholic Church.

She owned and operated several restaurants, including The Tenderloin Restaurant in St. Joseph, and was a Kansas City Royals fan.

Maysville, Missouri….Robert Eldon Edwards, age 84, passed away April 20, 2024, at North Kansas City Hospital.

Bob was born March 28, 1940, in Maysville, Missouri, the son of Eldon Casey and Laura Mae (Stanton) Edwards.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was one of 8 children, He attended his early schooling in a one room schoolhouse at Mt. Gilead, then middle school in Weatherby, and on to High School in Maysville, where he would graduate in 1958. At a very young age Bob would discover two enduring loves that would run throughout his entire life, Animals &amp; Farming. He had a deep compassion and love for all animals.&nbsp;&nbsp;Helping them and caring for them was a gift from God; real and meaningful for him. Bob also loved farming and was at his happiest on the seat of a tractor or being a caretaker of the land that he enjoyed from childhood.&nbsp;

He would tell you that his life totally changed on September 19th, 1971, when he married Reita (Crone).&nbsp;&nbsp;They would enjoy the next 52 years together in love. He was always ready with an easy smile or a helping hand when needed.

Bob worked at Maysville Veterinary Clinic, for Dr. Breckinridge in King City, and Northwest Diagnostic Laboratories in Cameron throughout his working career.&nbsp;&nbsp;He was always competitive and had a love for sports, especially the Kansas City Chiefs, which carried on to his grandchildren.

He was very secure in his faith and was an ordained Deacon of the Hopewell Baptist Church of which he was a member since childhood.&nbsp;&nbsp;In his role as father, he was proud of all three of his children. He was the first to praise or criticize, whether coming from a place of love and caring; he was always dedicated to his family.&nbsp;Bob enjoyed a long life experiencing many things from one room schoolhouse in his youth to traveling the world with his family to different places.&nbsp;

He would face the many challenges of having Alzheimer’s Disease, ones that his mother and several siblings before him faced as well.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Even to the very end, his eyes would still light up when Reita would come into the room.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, George, William &amp; John; sisters, Lois (Kenneth) Owen, Betty Huber, Marge (Bill) Buchanan, and Carolyn (Paul) Eggleston; and 3 nephews and 1 niece.

Anthony’s world changed when he met Tiffany, and she and their children became his everything. He had longed for a big family, and his wish had been fulfilled.

Johnny Lee Roach, 62, Trenton, Missouri passed away at home Monday, April 15, 2024.

He was born August 29, 1961, in Parkersburg, WV to Albert E and Yvonne M (Harbin) Roach.

He was preceded in death by his father; siblings, Birdie, Kenna, Gloria; and nephew, Doug.

He was survived by his wife, Cindy; children, Howl, Wybie, and Cody; and grandson, Aiden.

Johnny graduated PHS, was in the ROTC, honorably served in the Army and earned multiple college degrees. He moved to Missouri, married the love of his life Cindy, August 28, 1998, and started the family he was proud of.

Johnny was friendly, funny, kind and charitable. He loved spending time with friends and family, and enjoyed fishing.

He was born at Colorado Springs, CO, one of thirteen children born to Donald Sr. and Christina Couchman Ingram and worked hard to achieve his GED.&nbsp; Don was an entrepreneur:&nbsp; among the things he has done, worked as a firefighter, police officer, and sold real estate for several years.&nbsp; He has lived in the Brown County area for many years.&nbsp;

Survivors include his son Donald L "D3" Ingram, III, D3's Mother Rita Hautz, Don's significant other Sheri Leafty, all of Hiawatha, a daughter Patricia Miller: siblings Bill Ingram, James Henderson, Donna Burns, Kandi Manis; 3 grandchildren and a great-grandson.&nbsp; His best friend was Mel Shafer of Hiawatha.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Jimmy Ingram, Bob Zuchowski, Ralph Ingram, Ronald Ingram, Delbert Ingram, Pat Smith, and Ruth Elaine Ingram.

He graduated from Troy High School in 1974. Paul was a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Troy, Kansas and the Local 101 Operators Union, St. Joseph, Missouri.

Paul married Jerre Anne Marriott on February 7, 1976, in Fanning, Kansas. &nbsp;She survives of the home.

Paul Berton Whetstine 1956 - 2024

Mary Louise Myers, 84, of Atchison, Kan., was surrounded by her husband and children as she passed from her earthly life on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, after a courageous 3-year battle with ovarian cancer.

Mary was born on Dec. 28, 1939, to Francis and Esther Marie (Brown) Willey in Iatan, Mo. She was the second of six children. She graduated from West Platte High School in Weston, Mo. in 1957.Mary was living in Atchison and working as a waitress at R and E Café when she met Roy Myers, Jr. at the Cottonwood Inn dance hall. They were married at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Weston on July 28, 1962. They lived in the Atchison area for the entirety of their 61-year marriage. Mary was a devoted and loyal wife. Mary and Roy were blessed with four children, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Mary was a warm, caring and supportive mother and a great cook. Some of her children’s favorite meals were fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, homemade yeast rolls with homemade butter, and all the pies: custard, chocolate and pear were among their favorites. When Mary saw her children and grandchildren, she greeted them by reaching out her arms and coming for a big hug. Those hugs will be forever remembered and sorely missed.&nbsp;Mary’s grandchildren were the joy of her life. She would whoop and holler at Dalton’s basketball games, Savannah’s gymnastics meets, Brooklynn’s dance recitals, Jeremy’s car races and Morgan’s softball games. She loved hearing stories about Heather’s classroom, and Taylor was her pride and joy as the one grandson who could carry on the Myers name.&nbsp;

Her beloved granddaughter Morgan was born on her 60th birthday, and she loved celebrating their birthdays together over the years. Mary’s birthday was the one occasion of the year when she might drink a peach margarita to celebrate. Mary loved her church family at St. Louis Catholic Church in the Good Intent area north of Atchison. She was a decades-long member of the Altar Society and held officer positions for several years. She served on the funeral dinner committee and helped clean the church and prepare items for Mass each week. She had also attended the Good Intent Homemaker’s Club that met at the church.Mary enjoyed reading, watching Gunsmoke reruns, eating chocolate, rooting for Travis Kelce and the Chiefs, and riling people up about politics. She was also a proud blood donor. Since 1988, she had donated blood 96 times for a total of 12 gallons in blood donations.&nbsp;

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, brother Ronnie Willey, and sisters Patricia Fee and Margaret Green. One of the most painful times of her life was experiencing the death of her infant grandson, Zachery Mauro.&nbsp;Mary is survived by her loving husband Roy of rural Atchison; son Steve and his wife Kim of Lancaster, Kan.; daughter Cathy Mauro and her husband Jeff of Topeka, Kan.; daughter Debbie Bennett and her husband, Alan of Weston; and daughter Bekki Piper and her husband Brian of Atchison. Her grandchildren and their spouses are Heather and Brad Heerlein of Savannah, Mo.; Taylor and Jennifer Myers of Hill City, Kan., Jeremy Mauro of Manhattan, Kan.; Savannah and Trevor Vanpool of Ft. Linda Joyce Merritt 1961 - 2024

Donna Mae Reynolds, 83, St. Joseph Mo., passed away peacefully, at a local nursing home, on April 17, 2024.

Donna was born in Steele City, Nebraska, on June 14, 1940, Flag Day, to Wilbert and Myrtle (Graham) Applegarth. The family moved to Savannah Mo., where she attended school, became the basketball queen (in later years she would tease that she should have been a basketball player since she made a basket with every attempt) and graduated in 1957 from Savannah High School.

Donna retired from Missouri Iron and Metal after 50 years.

She was known for her gift of gab, bright smile, love of all things that sparkled, and her long, bright red fingernails – and we can't forget her joy and love of dancing. For&nbsp;many years you could find her cutting a rug at the Eagles Lodge and line dancing at the Buffalo Bar.

She was the best mom and grandma, always being the first to wake up and get everyone excited for Christmas, her favorite holiday. She adored Christmas lights, decorations, and all things Santa and snowmen. She loved Christmas so much that she left her Christmas tree up year-round, under protest from her granddaughter.

Before moving into the nursing home, Donna was very proud of her garden and flowers as well as taking care of the neighborhood cats. Her love for critters big and small was unwavering.

Donna loved to travel. She was adventurous and visited many states on the back of a motorcycle. Some of her proudest moments and favorite trips included visiting Ireland and Hawaii. In 2020, during Covid, she turned 80 years old. Her family rented an RV and embarked on a two-week journey through many National Parks, including the Grand Canyon. She said it was the best trip of all.

Donna was loved by many, becoming GMA to all her granddaughter's friends and always being a part of their schemes and shenanigans.

Life will not be the same without her, but we will keep her memory alive with her dutch mess and homemade noodles, and jamming to her favorite country tunes while cruising the backroads and joking about picking up all the soda pop cans in the county.

Donna is survived by daughter, Terri Heater; bonus son, Chuck Groce; and granddaughter (Donna's punkin'), Heather Heater (Travis Almond). She is preceded in death by both parents and her brother, Sam Applegarth.

Donna Mae Reynolds, 83, St. Joseph Mo., passed away peacefully, at a local nursing home, on April 17, 2024.Donna was born in Steele City, Nebraska, on June 14, 1940, Flag Day, to Wilbert and Myrtle (Graham) Applegarth. The family moved to Savannah Mo., where she attended school, became the basketball queen (in later years she would tease that she should have been a basketball player since she made a basket with every attempt) and graduated in 1957 from Savannah High School.Donna retired from Missouri Iron and Metal after 50 years.She was known for her gift of gab, bright smile, love of all things that sparkled, and her long, bright red fingernails – and we can't forget her joy and love of dancing. For&nbsp;many years you could find her cutting a rug at the Eagles Lodge and line dancing at the Buffalo Bar.She was the best mom and grandma, always being the first to wake up and get everyone excited for Christmas, her favorite holiday. She adored Christmas lights, decorations, and all things Santa and snowmen. She loved Christmas so much that she left her Christmas tree up year-round, under protest from her granddaughter.Before moving into the nursing home, Donna was very proud of her garden and flowers as well as taking care of the neighborhood cats. Her love for critters big and small was unwavering.Donna loved to travel. She was adventurous and visited many states on the back of a motorcycle. He was born July 4, 1935, in Elwood, Kansas, to Herman and Etta (Taylor) Pease.

Pease, 88, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2024.&nbsp;He was born July 4, 1935, in Elwood, Kansas, to Herman and Etta (Taylor) Pease.Robert married Rose Ann Farrell on January 6, 1955, in St. Joseph. She survives of the home.&nbsp;Robert proudly served his country in the Marine Corps and the Army Reserves during the Korean War.He worked for Dugdale Packing Plant then he drove a truck for Consolidated Freightways for 25 years.&nbsp;Robert attended Grace Calvary Church and was a former member of Central Assembly of God.He was preceded in death by his son, Mark A. Pease; brothers and sisters; and his parents.Survivors include his beloved wife, Rose; children, Ricky R. Pease, Judy Daugherty (Steven), and James H. Pease; 10 grandchildren, Tim Pease, Tegan Pease, Adric (Melissa) Pease, Holly (Chase) Bodenhausen, Hunter Pease, Braden (Jessie) Daugherty, Alex (Victoria) Daugherty, Bailey (Ben) Bailey, Hanna (Steven) Taggart and Max Pease; 10 great-grandchildren, Sailor, Jake, Lucy, Jovie, Willa, Annabelle, Jackson, Vanessa, Amelia, and Elric.Farewell Services and Public Livestream 10:00 A.M.
