Shawn Wilson, 48, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2025 at his home. Shawn was born August 18, 1976 in Hiawatha, KS, son of the late Betty and Rex Wilson. Shawn attended Lafayette High School. On September 19, 1998, he married Sonya Cox in St. Joseph. Shawn was a Member of the Laborers Union, Local 579, and worked for GA Thompson Painting, where he retired due to illness after 29 years. He was a Ford Truck collector, a hard worker, and he enjoyed working with his hands and spending time in his garage. Shawn will be remembered for being a true friend who was reliable and dedicated to his family. Shawn was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Kaylen "Tom" Wilson and Tim Wilson. Survivors include: his wife, Sonya Wilson of the home, children, son, Coby Cox of St. Joseph, Patience (Tyler) Husong of Aurora, MO, and Torrie Gibson of St. Joseph, siblings, Kevin (Marla) Wilson, Shannon Wilson, John (Christina) Wilson, Kimberly (David) Wilson, all of St. Joseph, grandchildren, Saphira, Daxton, and Jupiter, his beloved dogs, Zeta and Zombie, and numerous nieces and nephews.Funeral Service will be at 6:00 pm Friday, April 25, 2025 at Rupp Funeral Home with Minister Stacy Davis, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Friday at Rupp Funeral Home. Mr. Wilson will be cremated following services with Inurnment at a later date at Ashland Cemetery. Memorials are requested to the Noyes Home for Children.
