David E. Phelan, 77, passed away at his home on April 20, 2025. David was born in St. Joseph on March 11, 1948, one of six children of John Jesse Phelan, Sr. and Mary Frances (McNemee) Phelan.
David grew p and attended school in Forest City. He worked as an over-the-road truck driver based in St. Joseph, and later as a concrete plant manager in Atchison, Kansas.
David enjoyed deer hunting and watching Westerns on TV. He was a Teamsters member.
He was preceded in death by an infant son; his parents; siblings, John Jesse, Jr., Dennis, Larry, Bonnie Cromer and Betty Jo Cromer.
David is survived by his wife Valle, of their home; daughter, Any Gulliford; Valle's children John Ross and Christie Phillips; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
