Margaret A. Moffet, 91, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away on April 27, 2024.

She was born in Modesto, California. Married to John A. Moffet for 51 years until his death in 2001.&nbsp;

Margaret moved to St. Joseph, Missouri in the early 1950’s. She became a LPN in 1963 and graduated from MWSC as an RN in 1975. She worked at Sister’s Hospital for many years and then became co- administrator and director of nursing at Green Acres Independent Living for 20 years, retiring in 1991. She was a volunteer for hospice for many years and was an Elder in the Community of Christ Church. She volunteered as a nurse for youth and family camps at Camp Farwesta.

She was preceded in death by her parents John Edgar and Salena Carlson, two brothers Leland and Wesley, a dear sister-in-law Annibelle, her husband John, and three children Joanne, Diane, and Lawrence.&nbsp;

She is survived by a brother, Daryl Carlson, daughter, Beth (Blane) Booker, 6 grandchildren, Brandon (Christine) Booker, Jana (Nathaniel) Webb, Kara Booker, Jason Russell, Angela Russell Storms, and Eric Russell, 13 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and close family friend, Nancy Edwards.&nbsp;

She was a devoted Christian, a voracious reader, sincere believer in lifelong learning and loving mother and grandmother.&nbsp;

The family would like to thank the director of Corby Place, Chris Burris, and the staff and also Three Oaks Hospice for their loving care.&nbsp;

Thomas Edward Hutchison, Jr., 84, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family on Saturday, April 27, 2024.&nbsp;

He was born July 22, 1939 in St. Joseph to Thomas Edward Hutchison, Sr., and Nellie Viola (Wheeler) Hutchison. He grew up in the French Bottoms, and loved reminiscing with family and friends about childhood memories on the farm.

Thomas married Patricia Bravo. They later divorced but remained good friends.

He was an over-the-road truck driver for his whole life before retiring in 1996. He was a lifetime member of Teamsters Local 41. Even though he drove for a living, Thomas loved to drive on his own time, especially on family vacations to national parks across the country.

Thomas was well-known as a social butterfly. He was always on the phone teasing people just to get something going or hanging out with his “Breakfast Club” friends at the casino, Betty’s Café, Hy-Vee or his favorite, Holt’s Place.

He loved to hunt pheasant, quail, turkey and antelope, and loved to go fishing. Tom loved the times he spent in Alaska fishing. He was most happy when he was outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Nicholas Slatier; and siblings, John Hutchison, Beverly Schweder, and Phyllis “Sweetie” Wallace.

Survivors include his children, Kimberly Slatier (Phillip), Thomas E. Hutchison III (Stacey), and Kirsten Hutchison; grandchildren, Cody Hutchison (Raven), Alex Gray (Mitch), Chris Slatier (Ariel), Whitney Hutchison (Andrew), Hannah Slatier, and Noah Hutchison; great-grandchildren, Delaney, Marlee, Stevie, Lennox, Logan, Leighna, and one on the way; sister, Donna “Nook” Hutchison Hilton (Doug), former wife, Patricia Hutchison; and numerous other extended family members and friends.

Thomas Edward Hutchison, Jr. 1939 - 2024

Betty Ann (Stadalman) Heck passed away on Monday, April 29, 2024, in Mound City, Missouri, at the age of 90. &nbsp;She was born in Bigelow, Missouri, on November 2, 1933 to Roy and Esther (Laukemper) Stadalman. &nbsp;

Betty attended elementary school in Bigelow and proudly skipped seventh grade due to low class sizes before attending high school in Mound City, where she graduated as Valedictorian in 1950. &nbsp;Betty then attended Gard Business School in St. Joseph and worked at Exchange Bank in Mound City. &nbsp;

Betty became acquainted with Wayne Heck of the Bellevue area at The New Dell in Savannah, and they developed a love for dancing, and each other. &nbsp;The two were married on February 13, 1955, and were engaged in farming throughout their married life. &nbsp;Betty took pride in keeping her home clean, raising a large garden, and being a great cook, often using fresh milk and cream from the family dairy for large daily meals from which no one went away hungry or without homemade dessert. &nbsp;She and Wayne enjoyed traveling, hosting Wayne’s army reunions, and getting opportunities to dance, all well into their 80s, and they celebrated 64 years of marriage before his death in 2019. &nbsp;Following his passing, Betty continued to enjoy being active with her grandkids, great-grandkids, and friends, finding joy in baking cookies (that became widely known as ‘Betty Cookies’), visiting, collecting Jewel Tea dishes, and in more recent years, doing jigsaw puzzles.

Along with Wayne, Betty raised and is survived by three children: &nbsp;Bob (Cindy) Heck, Mike (Jennifer) Heck, and Janet (Joel) Luzmoor, all of Mound City. &nbsp;She is also survived by her grandchildren: &nbsp;Brandon (Rachel) Heck, Lee's Summit; Blaire (Jarad) Owens, Maryville; Gabrielle (Shae) DeRosier, Fort Novosel, Alabama; Hayston (Katie) Wilson, Chandler (Morgan) Wilson, and William Heck, Mound City; and great-grandchildren: &nbsp;Ava, Emma, Halle, Bo, Lane, Finley, and Owen.

Betty was the fifth of six children, and her husband, parents, and each of her siblings preceded her in death: &nbsp;Margery Patterson, Rosa Lee New, Mary Frances Wilson, William ‘Bill’ Stadalman, and Richard ‘Dick’ Stadalman.

Services and visitation will be held at Chamberlain Funeral Home in Mound City. &nbsp;Public visitation for friends and family will be Friday, May 3, 2024 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, and funeral services on Saturday, May 4, at 2:00 pm, with interment to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery near Mound City. &nbsp;Memorials may be directed to Mound City United Methodist Church, Mound City Cemetery, or Mount Hope Cemetery.

Linda Sue (Meyer) Neiderhouse, 83, passed away April 28, 2024 at Tiffany Care Center in Mound City, Missouri.

She was born in Oregon, Missouri to William E. and Irene (Kuhn) Meyer on February 28, 1941. Linda graduated from Oregon High School.&nbsp;

She married Bud Neiderhouse on December 3, 1965. To this union was born Russell Ray, Betty Sue, and John Alan.&nbsp;

Survivors include her children, Russell Ray Neiderhouse, Betty Sue (Tony) Smith, and John Alan (Anna) Neiderhouse; brothers, Richard (Alita) Meyer of Oregon and Alvin (Rosie) Meyer of Bolivar, Missouri; sisters, Betty Richner of Pleasant Hope, Missouri and Janet Blazer of Mound City, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Jerry Meyer, Carolyn Meyer, Martha Meyer, and Bernadine Meyer; three grandchildren whom she loved so very much, Zachary Smith and Addison and Ella Neiderhouse; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, Bob, Bill, Donald and Ronnie Meyer; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Merrill Buckles; and brother-in-law, Gary Richner.

Chad Allen Riddle 49 of Kansas City, Mo, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2024 in North Kansas City. He was born January 4, 1975 in St Joseph Mo, son of Debbie and Dick Riddle. He married Lisa Littleton on July 20, 2020, and she survives of the home. He graduated from Mid Buchanan High School, and worked at Jack Cooper Transportation as a car hauler. He enjoyed classic cars, loved being outside riding four wheelers, side by sides or anything with wheels, boating, coon hunting with his grandfather Joe, watching the Kansas City Chiefs, and spending time with family &amp; friends. He was a very hard working man &amp; appreciated by his co workers, and was known as the “Wrecking ball”. 

&nbsp;Chad was preceded in death by his father, Dick Riddle, his paternal grandparents, John &amp; Hazel Riddle, and his grandfather, Joe McMillian.&nbsp;He is survived by his wife Lisa Littleton of the home, mother, Debbie Riddle, and brother, Brandon Riddle of Dearborn Mo, maternal grandmother, Muriel “Maudie” McMillian of Dearborn, Mo, step sons, Hunter (Gracie Gatlin) Perdue &amp; Miles Perdue, step grandchildren, Estrella, Catalina, Daisy Mae, and his in-laws, Steve &amp; Trudy Littleton of Florida.

Chad Allen Riddle 1975 - 2024

Kathy Pearl (Comstock) Johnson, beloved wife, mother, and Nana to six grandsons, 77, of Gower, Missouri, passed away peacefully at her home on April 25, 2024. &nbsp;The love of her life and husband of 58 years, Robert, was by her side. &nbsp;She was born on October 22, 1946 in Versailles, Missouri and lived in Stover, Missouri for most of her early life. &nbsp;Kathy grew up as a daughter of a WWII Seabee and after the war, her family moved frequently to places where her father worked on major infrastructure projects for the Army Corp of Engineers. &nbsp;Kathy attended four different high schools before returning home to graduate with honors at Stover High School in 1964.

After high school, she moved to Kansas City and worked for Hallmark from 1964-1965. &nbsp;On June 26, 1965, Kathy was united in marriage to Robert Johnson, a Specialist 4th Class in the United States Army. &nbsp;When Robert returned from duty in Vietnam, they lived in the Fargo, ND area for 12 years. &nbsp;

In 1977, Kathy, Robert and their three children moved to Gower, Missouri to be closer to her family in the Ozarks. &nbsp;In 1979, Kathy graduated from Platte College with an Associates degree in cardiac ultrasound and worked as a registered echo-technician at three area hospitals. &nbsp;Later in her career, she worked at Truman Medical Center in Kansas City and retired in 2005.

Kathy enjoyed dancing, bowling, cooking, camping, playing cards, gardening and spirited games of Trivial Pursuit. &nbsp;Reading was her favorite pastime. &nbsp;She was a fantastic cook. &nbsp;Kathy held a strong faith and was a member of First Lutheran Church in St. Joseph, Missouri where she also taught Sunday School.

Kathy was happiest being The World's Greatest Mom for her three children. &nbsp;A loving, caring mother that would do anything for her kids. &nbsp;She would never do anything half-way - her persistence is a forever-trait she embedded in her children and grandchildren.

For the last 30 years of her life, her greatest joy came from being Nana to her six grandsons. &nbsp;Nana was always there, from births to birthday parties to ball games, school events, graduations and weddings. &nbsp;Nana always made sure the Christmas stockings were full of candy and that everyone had an Easter basket. &nbsp;She will be dearly missed by everyone that knew her.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Leo and Margaret Comstock, her sisters Sue and Denise and brothers Gary and Charlie.

She is survived by her husband Robert Johnson, her brother John Comstock (Georgetown, TN), her sons Bob (Erica) Johnson and Brad (Marla) Johnson, her daughter Lori (Allen) Amos and six grandsons: &nbsp;Dillon Johnson, Trevor Johnson (Jenny), Andrew Johnson, Benjamin Johnson, Zachary Johnson and Robby Hoffecker.

Per her wishes, there will be no public visitation or service. &nbsp;To celebrate her life, a private memorial for immediate family will be held on Tuesday, Apr 30 at Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Kathy Pearl (Comstock) Johnson, beloved wife, mother, and Nana to six grandsons, 77, of Gower, Missouri, passed away peacefully at her home on April 25, 2024. &nbsp;The love of her life and husband of 58 years, Robert, was by her side. &nbsp;She was born on October 22, 1946 in Versailles, Missouri and lived in Stover, Missouri for most of her early life. &nbsp;Kathy grew up as a daughter of a WWII Seabee and after the war, her family moved frequently to places where her father worked on major infrastructure projects for the Army Corp of Engineers. &nbsp;Kathy attended four different high schools before returning home to graduate with honors at Stover High School in 1964.After high school, she moved to Kansas City and worked for Hallmark from 1964-1965. &nbsp;On June 26, 1965, Kathy was united in marriage to Robert Johnson, a Specialist 4th Class in the United States Army. &nbsp;When Robert returned from duty in Vietnam, they lived in the Fargo, ND area for 12 years. &nbsp;In 1977, Kathy, Robert and their three children moved to Gower, Missouri to be closer to her family in the Ozarks. &nbsp;In 1979, Kathy graduated from Platte College with an Associates degree in cardiac ultrasound and worked as a registered echo-technician at three area hospitals. &nbsp;Later in her career, she worked at Truman Medical Center in Kansas City and retired in 2005.Kathy enjoyed dancing, bowling, cooking, camping, playing cards, gardening and spirited games of Trivial Pursuit. &nbsp;Reading was her favorite pastime. &nbsp;She was a fantastic cook. &nbsp;Kathy held a strong faith and was a member of First Lutheran Church in St. Joseph, Missouri where she also taught Sunday School.Kathy was happiest being The World's Greatest Mom for her three children. &nbsp;A loving, caring mother that would do anything for her kids. &nbsp;She would never do anything half-way - her persistence is a forever-trait she embedded in her children and grandchildren.For the last 30 years of her life, her greatest joy came from being Nana to her six grandsons. &nbsp;Nana was always there, from births to birthday parties to ball games, school events, graduations and weddings. &nbsp;Nana always made sure the Christmas stockings were full of candy and that everyone had an Easter basket. &nbsp;She will be dearly missed by everyone that knew her.Kathy was preceded in death by her parents Leo and Margaret Comstock, her sisters Sue and Denise and brothers Gary and Charlie.She is survived by her husband Robert Johnson, her brother John Comstock (Georgetown, TN), her sons Bob (Erica) Johnson and Brad (Marla) Johnson, her daughter Lori (Allen) Amos and six grandsons: &nbsp;Dillon Johnson, Trevor Johnson (Jenny), Andrew Johnson, Benjamin Johnson, Zachary Johnson and Robby Hoffecker.Per her wishes, there will be no public visitation or service. &nbsp;To celebrate her life, a private memorial for immediate family will be held on Tuesday, Apr 30 at Heaton-Bowman-Smith &amp; Sidenfaden Chapel in St. Joseph, Missouri.<figure>

Maxine Harmer, 89, of Edgerton, MO passed away April 28, 2024.

She was born on November 8, 1934, to John William and Jessie Eileen (Martin) Teeple in Dearborn, MO. Maxine grew up in Edgerton and graduated from Edgerton High School.&nbsp;

On July 29, 1955, she was united in marriage to William “Billy” Carrel Harmer. After their marriage they lived in Edgerton where they made their home. Billy passed away on February 10, 1994.&nbsp;

Maxine and Billy owned and operated Harmer’s Café in Edgerton. Maxine enjoyed cooking and baking, working on puzzles, and playing dominos and cards. Most of all she loved being with her family and hosting family dinners.

She was an active member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church.&nbsp;

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents John and Jessie Teeple; her husband Billy Harmer; her daughter Brenda Wilder; and sisters Ann Ramsier and Lavon Teeple.&nbsp;

&nbsp;She is survived by her son John Harmer; her daughter Karen (Harmer) Belt; grandchildren Tim Huntsman (Phillip Griffith), Sarah Klein, Danny Harmer, Andy (Charlene) Landis, Cory (Melissa) Harmer, and Billie (Cody) Routon; great-grandchildren Nick, Chase, Kellan, Lily, Andie Mae, Sophia and Lukas; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.&nbsp;

John Stephen Potts II of Kansas City, MO, formerly of St. Joseph, MO, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2024. He was born April 9,1939 in Hannibal, MO, son of the late Rosemary and Steve Potts. He graduated from Central High School, attended Kirksville State Teacher’s College, and soon after married his high school sweetheart Deanna Kay Mules on May 20,1961.&nbsp;

John worked at Hatfield’s soda shop as a teenager, then went on to work at the St. Joseph Stockyards. &nbsp;He made a career as an over-the-road truck driver for thirty-two years at multiple national trucking companies-Crouch Brother's, ONC, Ryder, and PIE. John proudly served as a union steward, representing the rights of Teamster Local 41 truck drivers.&nbsp;

John was preceded in death by his loving parents, Steve and Rosemary, his big brother, R.E., his twin sister, Julia Rosenberg, and J.L. his beloved son. Survivors include: his cherished wife Deanna of the home, son, John S Potts III and wife Jennifer; daughters, Dana C Armstrong and husband Art, and Michelle A Potts; and youngest son, Mark J Potts and wife Kim; and daughter-in-law Donna. &nbsp;He will be missed by his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.&nbsp;He was an active father and grandfather throughout his life-his most treasured moments were times spent with any of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He loved playing games with the kids at any age: Checkers, Old Maid, Monopoly, Rook, dice, trick-or-treating, swimming, walking, golfing. John was known for his deep and contagious laughter. &nbsp;He would smile and rub his hands together slyly in playful competition.

John always arranged to spend time with his brother R.E. In their final years, they lived 5 minutes from each other and spoke daily by phone. &nbsp;They were known to travel back to their hometown Hannibal for an afternoon road trip-two farm brothers with the truck windows rolled down. &nbsp;As children, they shared a bedroom in their small farmhouse. &nbsp;They also shared football teams in high school and college. &nbsp;John and his twin sister Judy looked out for each other and enjoyed the same circle of friends, many of whom remained lifelong friends.

John’s most important and enduring relationship was with his wife Deanna. &nbsp;Their love built a strong home and family, and their focus and commitment to one another never faltered. A marriage that spans 63 years is rare-their relationship inspired family and friends. They supported and loved one another through times of adversity, and they reveled in endless days spent in joyful and comfortable companionship with one another. &nbsp;Their yards and gardens were beautifully landscaped-a labor of love they shared together. &nbsp;They planned their days around shared interests and the comfort of lifetime companionship.

John was a faithful parishioner at Cathedral in St. Joseph and Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Kansas City. Together John and Deanna contributed to their Catholic community and demonstrated the Christian tenets of love, faith, and compassion.

He was known by many as Big John because he was 6 feet 5 inches tall. But in truth, his life was BIG in every measurable way that’s important. &nbsp;Big John will be missed terribly by family and friends.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Mary 14, 2024 at the Cathedral of St. Joseph, St. Joseph, MO. &nbsp;Father Mike Roach Celebrant. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Monday, May 13, 2024 at the Rupp Funeral Home. He was born August 29, 1962 in St. Joseph, MO, son of the late Jneva and Glen Huston. He worked at Stetson Hats, the Filtration plant, and Holiday Inn. He loved the Dallas Cowboys, watching movies, playing poker and cards, and spending time with his family.

She was born May 21, 1934 in Halls, MO, daughter of Opal and William Hook. She married Homer Jennings on December 30, 1950. She worked at HD Lee, Peachtree Door, and 1st Street Graphics. She enjoyed playing bingo, playing cards around the table with her family, and taking drives around the lake. Peggy was a member of Missouri Valley Baptist Church. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Homer Jennings, sisters, Mary (Rob) West and Opal (Elmer) Kowitz, brothers, Joseph (Betty) and Jim Hook, sons-in-law, Rick Brooks, Vilas Brew Oglesby, and Stephen Tompkins.

On December 1, 1946 she married Harvey E. Schiermeyer. To this union was born Leon, Lindell and Marilyn.

She was a homemaker and teacher. She was a member of First Lutheran Church of St. Joseph Mo. where she was active in Faith Circle.

Her hobbies she enjoyed were China Painting, Square Dancing, Flower Arranging and Baking.

In addition to her parents, Della was preceded in death by her husband, 4 brothers; Harry, Rex, Art and Archie. Two sisters; Myrtle and Ruth.

Danny Armstrong, 60, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, April 26, 2024.

He was born on February 28, 1964, to Kenneth and Vera (Dankof) Armstrong in Hamburg, Iowa.

He grew up in Burlington Junction, Missouri, where his father owned and operated a mechanic shop. His passion for cars started at the young age of three as he worked alongside his father.

Danny started working for Car City Chrysler, which later became Reed Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in St. Joseph, Missouri. His career spanned for over thirty years, earning him several awards, most recently being named “Technician of the Year” in 2019.

On June 20, 1992, he married Patty Sue. She preceded him in death on December 6, 2019, after nearly 27 years together.

Danny enjoyed being outdoors, especially fishing, camping and riding go-karts. Every year, his family would go camping and attend the state fair together. As the years went on, he enjoyed spoiling his beloved grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Patty Sue Armstrong, and their dog, Rickie.

Survivors include his daughters, Amy Shuman (Robin) and Lori Kissick (Tony); grandchildren, Stephanie (Justin), Corey (Sammi), Daniel (Johnni), Kylie (Jimmy), Kelsee (Jymon), and Jacob (Kayla); eleven great-grandchildren; sister, Denise Hoskins; brothers, Kenneth and David Armstrong; nieces, Kathi, Kristie and Hannah, and his best buddy, Buster.

Wayne was a heavy equipment operator for Herzog in St. Joseph and Georgetown Rail in Texas. After retirement, he and his partner in life, Jackie, bought an RV and traveled the country, making treasured memories everywhere they went.

He loved to go fishing, especially at the family pond. He also had a keen sense of humor and liked to make other people laugh.

Reneta A. Fischer, 99, of Wheaton, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at the Community Hospital in Onaga.

Reneta was born December 22, 1924 on a farm south of Wheaton, Kansas, the daughter of Ernest and Anna (Marten) Bosse. She was baptized in 1925 and confirmed in 1938 at St. Luke Lutheran South Church near Wheaton. She attended St. Luke Grade School Southeast of Wheaton and graduated from Wheaton High School in 1942.

She was a life long member of St. Luke Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the church youth organization and an organist in St. Luke South Church. She was an active member of St. Luke’s Ladies Aid and served in several leadership positions. She was also a member of the Wheaton Senior Citizens Organization.

Reneta married Arlo H. Fischer on April 10, 1946 at St. Luke Lutheran Church southeast of Wheaton. He preceded her in death on September 26, 2009.

She was also preceded in death by a great grandson, Dawson Brunkow and her siblings and their spouses, Ivan Bosse (Sophie), Clarence Bosse (Erma), Lorena Kolterman (Melvin) and Galen Bosse.

Arlo and Reneta owned and operated the family farm south of Wheaton. Reneta took an active role in virtually all aspects of the farming operation. They operated a dairy for years until they gave it up in 1983. Prior to that date, Reneta developed an interest in raising dogs and, with Arlo’s assistance, developed a kennel operation. After they quit the dairy operation, the dog kennel operation expanded. Reneta really enjoyed this new venture, especially hearing from people from various states who had purchased one of her dogs.

Reneta was a wonderful cook and baker. One of the favorites of the children and grandchildren were her cinnamon rolls. There was almost always a pan of rolls ready when grandchildren stopped by. Another favorite was her creamy corn. It was a hit at all of the family dinners. Another passion Reneta had was quilting. She made quilts for all of the children and grandchildren. These are treasures for so many family members. She was also active with the quilting group at church.&nbsp;

However, Reneta’s biggest passion was her family. While being involved in the farming operation and the above passions, she raised five children, attending to the details of each in their lives. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great, great grandmother. She welcomed each new addition to the family with loving arms and a deep sense of caring.&nbsp;

Reneta is survived by three daughters, Diana Brunkow (Larry), Duluth, Connie Tarvin (Jeff ), Topeka, and Gayle Currie (Lee), Timnath, CO and two sons, Byron Fischer (Eunice), Omaha, NE and Alan Fischer (Vickie), Wheaton; seventeen grandchildren, forty five great grandchildren, eleven great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 30th at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Wheaton. Burial will follow in the St. Luke North Cemetery. Reneta will lie in state from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Onaga. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the church. Sue Hubbard, 78, of Horton, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at the Stormont-Vail Health Center in Topeka.

She was born March 15, 1946 in Talihina, Oklahoma, the daughter of Williston and Miriam Samuels Samuel. &nbsp;

Sue worked as a dental assistant for Indian Health Services for a total of thirty-one years. &nbsp;She first worked at Concho, OK, then at Holton, and later at Haskell in Lawrence until her retirement.

Sue married Galen “Sal” Hubbard on May 28, 1965 in Topeka. &nbsp;He preceded her in death on January 2, 2023.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Doris Stoliby and Delores Marris, and a brother, Timothy Samuel, who, along with their mother, died in childbirth.

Survivors include two sons, Sean Hubbard (Robin), Carbondale and Duane Hubbard, Wetmore, two daughters, Galenna Nelson (Darrin), Topeka and Miriam Hubbard (Mark), Horton, two sisters, Mary Etheridge (Ron), Oklahoma City, OK and Jeannette Maytubbi, Idabel, OK, fourteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Rosemary Ward born June 12, 1946, in Hiawatha, Kansas, died a peaceful death of natural causes at her daughter’s home in Maumelle, Arkansas, surrounded by loving family on 4/24/24.&nbsp;

Rosemary is survived by 4 siblings, 3 children, and 9 grandchildren. &nbsp;Survivors include brother David and wife Phyllis Shannon of Hamlin, KS, brother Scott and wife Marty Shannon of Kansas City, MO, sister Shelly and husband Bill Lucero of Topeka Ks, brother Jonathan Shannon of Hamlin KS, son Robert Ward of Smithville, MO with his wife Amy, and their 2 children Lucas and Roy, son John Ward of St. Francisville, LA and his children with Nancy, &nbsp;Elena, Naveen, and Jack, daughter Becky Ellison of Maumelle AR, with her husband Brent and their children Daniel Jose, Kayla, Dekon and Drake. Rosemary was a loving mom and grandma to her family. &nbsp;

She graduated salutatorian from Hamlin High School in 1964 and went on to receive her Bachelors from Grace Bible Institute and Nursing Diploma from Stormont Vail. Rosemary retired from Hiawatha Community Hospital in 2011. She spent the last portion of her 40 year medical career as an OB nurse. Her favorite part of delivering babies was to "watch the joy in the dad's faces".&nbsp;

She taught her children the importance of the church and the Lord; as well as, taught many children about Jesus in Sunday School class at Hamlin Baptist Church. She enjoyed attending Supper Club and supported Midland Ministries. She was known for her wonderful pies, cakes and fabulous fried chicken. She loved to play games and watch movies with her family. No one could beat her at “Go Fish”. &nbsp;A favorite quote of hers was " You can't praise God and be upset at the same time…so it's better to praise God." &nbsp;She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and loved her and her kind-hearted smile will be forever remembered.

She was preceded in death by her parents Forrest Madison and Mary Elizabeth Johnson Shannon

A celebration of Rosemary’s eternal life is planned for 11 a.m. Monday April 29, 2024, at Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Hiawatha. &nbsp;A nurses honor ceremony will be provided byNWMO/NEKS Nurses Honor Guard. Burial will follow at Hamlin Cemetery.

Ruth Gates, 85, of Gower, MO passed away April 21, 2024.

She was born on September 29, 1938 to Emmett and Dorothy (White) Auxier in Gower. She was raised in Gower and graduated from Gower High School. Ruth attended Gard Business College and then worked at Mead Tablet Factory.

On August 27, 1960 she was united in marriage to Richard Gates, they made their home in Gower. After having children, she became a full-time mother and homemaker. Her husband, Richard, passed away, March 20, 2021.

She loved attending garage sales and tending to her flowers, and if you don’t think so mow one down and see. She loved gardening, her grandchildren, and visiting with friends.&nbsp;

Ruth was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Norman Auxier.

She survived by her daughter, Ann (Dan) Wallace; son, Dean Gates; grandchildren, Dakota and Nicole Wallace and Donnie Gates; brother, Charles Auxier; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ron Gates, Jerry (Martha) Gates, Steve (Pat) Gates, and Greg (Denise) Gates; Linda (Gary) Lister, Liz (Jim) Selle, Karen (Bob) Collier, and Joanne (Steve) Golding; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Ruth Gates 1938 - 2024

Helen Pittman Hardister passed from this life to eternal life April 23, 2024.&nbsp;

She was born July 30, 1938 to Sherman and Marie Pittman in Rosendale, Missouri. She attended Rosendale High School, graduating in 1956.

In 1957, Helen married John Moyer. To this union were born three children, Tina Louise Price, Maurice Taft Moyer, and Sheila Marie George.

In addition to being a wife, mother and homemaker, Helen also was employed as a CNA at several nursing homes.&nbsp;

In 1994, she married Stanford Hardister. He passed away in 2004.

Others who predeceased her include her mother, Marie Pittman, and her father, Sherman Pittman; one sister, Mary Atkins; one brother, Larry Pittman; one grandson, Ryan Taft Moyer; and one daughter, Sheila George.

Helen Pittman Hardister passed from this life to eternal life April 23, 2024.&nbsp;She was born July 30, 1938 to Sherman and Marie Pittman in Rosendale, Missouri. She attended Rosendale High School, graduating in 1956.In 1957, Helen married John Moyer. To this union were born three children, Tina Louise Price, Maurice Taft Moyer, and Sheila Marie George.In addition to being a wife, mother and homemaker, Helen also was employed as a CNA at several nursing homes.&nbsp;In 1994, she married Stanford Hardister. He was born on December 27, 1970, to Dale Taylor and Linda Claudnic in La Salle, Illinois.

Michael previously worked as a steel construction laborer.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dale Taylor and stepfather, Martin Ernat.

Sue Hubbard, 78, of Horton, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at the Stormont-Vail Health Center in Topeka.She was born March 15, 1946 in Talihina, Oklahoma, the daughter of Williston and Miriam Samuels Samuel. &nbsp;Sue worked as a dental assistant for Indian Health Services for a total of thirty-one years. &nbsp;She first worked at Concho, OK, then at Holton, and later at Haskell in Lawrence until her retirement.She was a member of the Baptist faith.Sue married Galen “Sal” Hubbard on May 28, 1965 in Topeka. &nbsp;He preceded her in death on January 2, 2023.She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Doris Stoliby and Delores Marris, and a brother, Timothy Samuel, who, along with their mother, died in childbirth.Survivors include two sons, Sean Hubbard (Robin), Carbondale and Duane Hubbard, Wetmore, two daughters, Galenna Nelson (Darrin), Topeka and Miriam Hubbard (Mark), Horton, two sisters, Mary Etheridge (Ron), Oklahoma City, OK and Jeannette Maytubbi, Idabel, OK, fourteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Marjorie Elaine Dickinson, 87, of Hiawatha, passed away on April 23, 2024, surrounded by the love of family and friends at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha, Kansas. She was born to Lawnie L.(Bud) and Alice Laverne (Molt) Boyer on March 21, 1937 in Horton, Kansas.&nbsp;

Marjorie grew up in Hiawatha and graduated from Hiawatha High School in 1955. After graduating, she attended cosmetology school in Atchison. On September 8, 1957, she married her high school sweetheart, Oliver Jackson Dickinson, and lived on the Dickinson family farm west of Hiawatha where they raised their five children.

While raising their children, Marjorie helped Oliver run the family farm and held numerous secondary jobs throughout her working years, including cutting hair for family and friends, working at Wilde Tool Company, and the Arrow Twin Theatres. &nbsp;She was especially proud of her 17 year tenure as a bus driver for USD 415.

Marjorie had many hobbies and activities that she enjoyed sharing with her children and grandchildren which included being a 4-H leader and participating in bowling leagues. She loved to showcase her sewing talents by teaching her daughters and granddaughters the basics of sewing and knitting. Her love of books, movies, and baking has been passed down through the generations. Later in life, Marjorie enjoyed all the activities of the Red Hats Society and traveling after retirement. Marjorie was a two-time breast cancer survivor and participated in the annual Brown County Relay for Life fundraiser for many years.

Marjorie was survived by her children: Doug (Lisa) Dickinson, Glasco, KS; Angie (Phil) Baker, Sunrise Beach, MO; Melissa (Chris) Wegener, Hiawatha, KS; and Martha (Troy) Moree, Winfield, KS; her sister, Peggy (Mike) Shipman, Fairview, KS, and a sister-in-law, Dixie Boyer, Rush, CO, 10 grandchildren: Chelsea Mansor, Jacinda Dickinson, Chesnie Dickinson, Tyler Baker, Cortney Greeno, Kyle Jimeson, Tristan Dickinson, Jackson Moree, Aleah Moree, and Christian Moree; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver J. Dickinson, a son, Michael B. Dickinson, her parents Lawnie and Alice Boyer, a brother, Eldon Keith Boyer, and a great-granddaughter, Hazel Olivia Greeno.

Janice M. Morelock, 67, Atchison, Kansas died Monday, April 22, 2024 at Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph, Missouri.

A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, May 4, 2024, from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. at Warnock Lake. Janice has been cremated under the care and direction of Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home.

Janice was born September 12, 1956 in Atchison, Kansas the daughter of Joseph J. and Gladys Hansen Bewley. She attended Atchison Public Schools and later received her Licensed Practical Nursing Certificate in Kansas City, Kansas in 1995.

She was employed with Cushing Memorial Hospital in Leavenworth, Kansas for seven years. She formerly worked at Lansing Correctional Facility and later served as a bartender for Atchison Elks Lodge and the American Legion Club Room in Atchison.

In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include a daughter, Brandy Cummins, Topeka, KS; two sons, Norman “Nick” Ford, Jr., Atchison, KS; and Robert “Jamie” Ford, Atchison, KS; two sisters, Judy Stiffler, Rushville, MO; Janey Grebe, St. Joseph, MO; and one brother, Gary Bewley, Atchison, KS; fifteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and longtime friends, Henry Goodpasture, Darren “Elmo” Kastens, Miriam Donovan, Shelia Heintzleman.
