Lois A. “Penne” Dawson, 71, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, July 12, 2025.
She worked at Carriage Square for 16½ years as a housekeeper.
Her greatest joy in life was her daughter, son-in-law, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren.
Lois didn’t know a stranger and everyone that knew her loved her.
She is preceded in death by her son, Jeffery Moore; her parents, George and Berniece Dawson; sisters, Marilyn, Karla, Dorothy, Debbie Dawson, Deniece Rogers, Donna DeSpain and Mary Stockstill; brothers, Shelby “Butchie”, Harold, Jack, Rick and Frank Dawson; her bonus granddaughter, Samantha Hovey; and her fur baby, Harley.
She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly (Wayland) Hovey; son, Brian Moore; grandchildren, Kaleb and Kaden Penland, Kenneth Hovey, Tehyeh, Daytona and Maleah Moore, and Takota Richardson; bonus grandchildren, Tyler (Jessica) and Thunder (Melissa) Hovey; great-grandchildren, Remy and Dagger Penland; and bonus great-grandchildren, Trinitie, Oaklynn, Tripp, Zariah, Rylee, and Maysen Hovey; sisters, Myrtle Culver Fowler, Delores Brouhard, Phyllis Hight, and Ann Green; brother, Marty Dawson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Farewell Services and Public Livestream 3:00 P.M. Thursday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will gather with friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The family suggests memorial contributions to the COPD Foundation.
