David Clifton Jr.

David R. Clifton Jr was born on August 27, 1938, in Platte City, Missouri, in the home of his parents Dorothy Leipard Clifton and David Russell Clifton. David graduated from Smithville High School in 1956.

He enlisted in the Army in June of 1956. After serving 6 months at Fort Gordon, GA in the Military Police, he was released from active duty and spent 7 years and 4 months in the Army Reserves.

On April 17, 1960, he was united in marriage to Deanna Joyce Cordonier. They made their home in Platte City, Missouri.

David worked as a driver of school buses, then a delivery truck, followed by a gasoline delivery truck and then went back to school buses. He also attended the Hoover Chirstian Church for more than 50 years.

David was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Deanna, his parents David Russell and Dorothy Clifton, and his brother Bill Clifton.

He is survived by his children: Tom Clifton, Lisa (Kyle) Turco, and Will Clifton; four grandchildren: Alex, Kaley, Abbi, and Ava. He also leaves his sister Ada, and his brother Bob.

David will be missed by many for various reasons, but mostly by his children as a dad that was always there for them.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 17th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home in Smithville with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial: Platte City Cemetery.
